Mortal? Me? :3
I have been around longer than you think..
don't be fooled by my cat loving tendencies..
or my ice-cream dependency..
or my habbit of setting shoes a light with fire, or my fascination with pretending I am a gremlin who eats people's shoes at night and runs around like a crab and lives in a tree drinking tea (chamomile, infused) and refuses to.. wait ok, be fooled by that. That stuff is pretty convincing.

The Grave of a Coward said...

*opens one eye*

I know better than most the terrible tragedy of poor internet, Kestrel m'dear.

Administrator Kestrel LeStarre-Sparrowhawk The Celestial said...

*laughs at Matex*
*well, not /at/ Matex*

Annika, I actually have decent internet at my house, but I'm on my phone in the car without WiFi, so...

Ah. You see, I live in a town with extraordinarily slow internet. Also dial-up. Nearly everyone in this town over the age of fifty has dial-up.

Mary Contrary said...

@Matex: I can tell you've studied music. :P It's really impressive that you can recognize all of those things, though. (I'm also quite proud I understood almost all of that. :O / :P) It's like being able to put a wordless concept into words, because you have the technical understanding to comprehend it all, and I think that is amazing. O.O

I think it's like... It's like voices. The way in which you can listen to a person speak and listen phonetically, and pick up on every shape of pronunciation of sound. I'm not sure how to explain this exactly, but...
People shape their sounds differently. And you can listen and you can HEAR that. Not just on a general accent scale, like how the Welsh lift and stress the second-to-last syllable, or your Scottish or Irish or Italian or Texan or whatever. But specifically.
You recognize a person's voice on all of the tiny specifics, like the junctures, and tone or pitch changes at syllable breaks.
There are two siblings who get the same bus that I do, and they both talk really similarly. And people are like 'What, you're saying he sounds like a girl?' or 'She sounds like a boy?' and that's not the case. It's the fact that they have grown up together, they have learned and developed their speech pattern from the same people and environment, and the way that they shape their phonetic sounds is incredibly distinctive.
And, I don't know.
But I think it's like that but in music.
And I think that's /really/ cool. :) :) :)
^^

Sorry, got absorbed in word art. D:

(Which is now involving Photoshop. I've evolved, people, I've evolved. :P)

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Oh, Dial-Up. That's still a thing? I honestly thought that stopped existing a few years ago, people joke about having it but I don't know anyone that actually does, haha. That sucks :(

*knows exactly what Kes means, although he doesn't mind who or what she is laughing at, regardless*
*winks at Silente, content, despite failing to come to any kind of conclusion.*
Well I am actually 64 years old, and I am a time traveler from the future, but I don't age, and I am permanently 64. And my father is 23 and also from the future (but a future before mine, where I was not yet born, because he is younger than I am). We also have spider friend named Mr. Watts, from the future of our future, who is 10,000 years old. Does that make sense? Probably not. Do I care? Certainly not.
*nods*

The Grave of a Coward said...

I'm not bad, Luciana. Sixteen feels much the same as fifteen.

Photoshop, eh? I've never been good with Photoshop.
By the way, Star, the card you sent me was AMAZING!

Star Inkbright said...

Taia, why are you so good at SAYING things? :P

Administrator Kestrel LeStarre-Sparrowhawk The Celestial said...

Adra Cruciatus said...

Well, Luciana! How are you faring?

I might disappear for a little bit soon; there's so many comments and I'm so slow... My phone can't take it!

Star Inkbright said...

I'm rubbish at Photoshop! I don't know how to do anything! :P
(I spent a while drawing curvy lines out of millions of straight lines using the line tool today.
It was very productive. Not. :P)

Thanks, Annika!!!!!! :)

Administrator Kestrel LeStarre-Sparrowhawk The Celestial said...

*is insulted that Annika got a card for her sixteenth but I didn't get one for my thirteenth*
*looks at my profile pic which was my twelfth birthday card*
*isnt actually insulted because I'm flattered that anyone would put that much effort into something for me once, much less twice* :3

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Thank-you Taia, that was a perfect analogy. Of course, not everyone recognizes that with music, especially as Star pointed out, if you've only heard one or two songs you're unlikely to recognize something by that artist. And if you actually play the instrument you're listening to it makes it a lot easier (other wise it's kind of like trying to recognize someone's voice when they're speaking in a different language - possible, but not as easy :/ )

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

*gestures to self*
I, an otaku, am looking for some anime to watch. What do you lovely Bloglanders recommend?

I also cried because Hughes. Although if we're being honest I preferred original Hughes over Brotherhood, I feel that Brotherhood kind of skimmed over a lot of the content that was also in the original as though it wasn't worth repeating, so Hughes was a lot less emotionally traumatizing.

Fabi S. - Fashion-Conscious Fire Wraith said...

Hey

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: EACH OTHER!

(You know Matex's A7X-guitar rant earlier?
That's why people don't like autotuning.
They like to marvel at people's talent, and they'd rather listen to really amazing guitar playing than have a machine make a few melodies. And there's something in knowing that human beings made that music, that a human being can DO that, that is really astonishing.
Just outlining that. :))

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Hey Fabi...
is anyone good at weird French?

Star Inkbright said...

*YELLS REFUSAL, OR DOESN'T, BECAUSE WHEN I START GETTING ANGRY NOW MY VOCAL CHORDS KIND OF STOP WORKING AND I'M JUST MOUTHING, WHICH IS THE RESULT OF PEOPLE TELLING ME TO SHUT UP WHENEVER I GET ANRGY*

. . .
You know, Taia?
This is pointless.
I am going to tell you that you are amazing at saying things, and you can believe me or not believe me, but I'm telling the truth, and I will sit over here in the corner and believe in your saying-stuff abilities. :)

Hey Lantern! :)

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: 'Weird' French?

Fabi S. - Fashion-Conscious Fire Wraith said...

Depends on what you mean by weird?

Star Inkbright said...

(It's quite weird, actually, my vocal chords doing that. It happened in maths the other day, and I was trying to yell at C but I was just mouthing and she didn't even notice until she looked up and saw my mouth forming unspoken words. It feels like I physically can't make a sound, although of course I must be able to . . .
Being quiet when angry works to my advantage, though, so I don't want to change it. :))

Mary Contrary said...

@Star: There was me finding the comments and copy/pasting them, and then I refreshed and saw "EACH OTHER!" and that fits a lot better, so. xD

@Star: ...*agrees* :)

Weird French as in weird French terms..
we have to write a paragraph about ourselves for homework but I want to make it creative with past, near future and possibly conditional only i want to add a Silente type flare. (which is hard when you don't have a dictionary.) by which I mean scary gore type is stuff.
I need to know
'I would murder someone if it wasn't illegal and murder'
'I am going to eat a unicorn disguised as rhino one day.'
and
'I have learnt to fly before but then had my wings pulled out'

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

For the middle one I know
Je vais manger un licorn............un jour.

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: WORDREFERENCE.COM
It even conjugates verbs for you.
It gives you literally hundreds of ways to use words like 'about'.
GO THERE. :P

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

It just came up with a load of links star.

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

*pokes his head up*
*giggles*
*raises one hand*
On the contrary Star (although I know exactly what you mean) I write a lot of digital music myself (like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYJyz8jxcMk) and it is completely different, but I guess the beauty is still in knowing that human beings made it? But, it's such a messy topic. Because I agree, and that is why I prefer raw punk rock over pop music, even if the vocals are rugged and the timing is slightly off, it just sounds like a live band giving an awesome performance and I think that is so much cooler than auto tuned pop ._. But electronic still has it's place, somehow :/ I think pop annoys me more because it has monopolized the industry to the point that if you don't sound like auto tuned industry standard rubbish (preferably while sexually objectifying women) then you can't make a living and nobody will support you. Which is bullshit. And I guess it's the fact that they use auto tune to replace people that I don't like? I mean, Justin Bieber is actually a great musician, I just hate his music; he got signed to some label and they made a bunch of pop beats and got some black rapper to feature and gave Bieber a lyric sheet with two stupid sentences and auto tuned him just reading that shit out and it is just not that great, but as always I guess that's my opinion.
Um. Yeah.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Nm fixed it

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: Which manner of links?

It's okay, I can use wordreference.com for you. :P

"Je tuerais quelqu'un si (it wasn't - dunno how you'd say that, what tense I mean) illegal et meurtre."
I would murder someone if it wasn't illegal and murder.

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: Ah. Never mind. :P

@Matex:

Of course there are many good things about digital music. But you like those for different reasons, I guess. I mean - people like music for so many different reasons. That was just one of them, and one that leads to people disliking autotuning.

And - yeah. -_-
I don't really know Justin Bieber, sorry. :)
(I mean, obviously I know OF them, but musically, not really. :P)
And - yes. :/ I agree totally with the why-you-don't-like-the-pop-music-industry thing. :P

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: Ah, kay. :)

(Sorry. I just, like, worship wordreference.com . :P
And, you know, Mara was saying that people have a right to hate on people if they insult their idol. And Dragona was saying, uh, no.
And the thing is, when people idolise something like that, they just think it's the best thing ever and emotions really screw things up. :/
And if someone tried to tell me wordereference.com wasn't brilliant, I would just be like "You're not even saying that. I'm sorry."
And to an outsider, it looks kind of ridiculous, but, it's like like - IT'S OVER THERE GLOWING IT'S GLOWING WHY THE FUCK DO YOU PEOPLE NOT SEE THIS
(sorry, that was a metaphorical representation of what goes through people's minds. :P)

(And also, when people insult things they love, people dislike it and they don't want to hear it because the words sow doubt into their minds and they don't want this beautiful picture they've constructed to be shattered.
I think - I'm pretty doubting and I often have to justify to myself why I like the things I like, so maybe it's just me, but I'm sure it's not, although I do it more so. :))

I want to watch a new anime, but I don't know what to watch... I only recently rewatched Ouran and Tokyo Mew Mew. I'm a couple of episodes into Kare Kano, but I'm almost certain I've finished it before. I know I've watched most of it before, but I'm unsure as to whether or not I finished it... D;

Anyway: any recommendations regarding anime?!

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Oh my god Mew Mew! I haven't seen that since it came out :')
Anohana, you must watch it <3

Star Inkbright said...

@Matex: Well, I probably do, but I don't know which songs are his, really. :P
*has spent most of my life being totally out of touch with music* *has gotten better in the past few years, and I generally know, like, what's by who on Capital or something thereabouts sometimes* *but also, I'm younger than you, and Justin Bieber was a Thing in year five, and at that point I was just like "Uh. I don't know music."
I'm pretty sure I told someone I didn't know who Justin Bieber was in year five, actually, and they were just like :O HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW.
:P

Apparently 1D's new album is good. My friend C told me I needed to listen to it, and she listens to good music.
I haven't heard it, though. :P Odd songs.

Dragona Pine said...

Star - but if I'm a fan of something then I don't hate on people who insult the things I like... then again I'm not the best person to ask about it :P

Star Inkbright said...

I don't watch anime!

*although I've caught up on the musical front, I still don't do anime or social media or TV :P*

Luciana said...

I MISSED KISSHU OKAY I WANTED TO REWATCH IT BECAUSE I FELT CRAPPY ;-;

But okay! Anohana? I'll google it!:3

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Haha true, Bieber is getting old now I guess (I'm getting old -_-). He had sooo much hate when he first appeared though :/

Luciana said...

Damnit Star D;

Oh my god, I've not watched a musical in years. I want to watch loads now...! Damnit. Omg.

Star Inkbright said...

@Dragona: I don't hate on people either. But if they reasonably point out to me why they don't like it, that's worse, because I can see what they're saying and it really hurts because I can generally see where they're coming from. :/ And if I can't see where they're coming from, I start arguing with them, so - :P
(It's good if they don't like things because they don't like that style of music or whatever, then we can just say "Okay" and move on. :))

. . . *frowns* I rambled off. :P

Also, when people love things, they want to share them and show them to other people, because, like, why would you not want to make people's lives better by showing them awesomeness, or get some totally awesome awesomeness appreciated? So people will keep on sharing things they like with people they know in case they pick up on it.
Plus, they think their awesomeness deserves to be loved and shared, so - yes.
Furthermore, people believe they're correct. Of course they believe they're correct. If they were incorrect, they'd realise and correct themselves. So people kind of think "If I'm correct, you must be incorrect" and attempt to fix the errors in people's heads.

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Yesss. Mew Mew was back in the day when I use to watch TV every morning because of anime <3
Have you watched Cardcaptor Sakura? (or is that too old? I can't remember :s)

Dragona Pine said...

*has never listened to a Justin Beiber song, but despises him as a person so would never, anyway*

Every One Direction song I've ever heard I've hated. I'm really glad the radio station I listen to NEVER plays them... I'd be turning the radio off a lot.
It only plays songs I like, so... :)

Star Inkbright said...

*so people want to avoid reasonable arguments, or they resent the way they're being made to hurt and lash out to stop the hurt happening

OH MY GOSH I think all that self-analysis is paying off. :O

I don't really do musicals either . . . :P
*still socially out of touch*

Luciana said...

OH MY GOD MATEX IT SOUNDS ACE IT'S GOING ON THE TOP OF MY LIST THANK YOU <3

Bieber still gets hate. And, often, with good reason; his racist and sexist comments are vile and the insulting and mistreatment of his own fans makes me feel queasy... :/

Star Inkbright said...

@Matex: See, I don't remember him getting hate when he first appeared. :P I don't even remember him first appearing.
#sociallyoutoftouch

@Dragona: You don't have to answer this, but why do you hate 1D?

Star Inkbright said...

The ratio of people I know who dislike Justin Bieber to people I know who like him is, like, 9 to 1 . . . :/

I don't know much about Bieber at all. I can't judge.

#sociallyoutoftouch
XD

Star Inkbright said...

Actually, I'm always kind of surprised when I meet someone who actually likes him . . . *shrugs*

Luciana said...

CARDCAPTOR SAKURA OH MY GOD I LOVED THAT ANIME SO MUCH <3

Technically I am pretty young to have seen it, but Jade (my sister) used to be obsessed with it so I've seen it all. c:

Dragona Pine said...

I don't like musicals. They're FARRRRRRRRR too cheesy. Not even Cheddar could compare.

Star Inkbright said...

@Dragona: Surely it depends on the musical . . . ?
*doesn't really know musicals, though, so -*

Luciana said...

My favourite ever musical is Blood Brothers like don't even get me started on it because it's amazing and Willy Russell is a genius. Though... I don't especially like Educating Rita, which he wrote... Hmm... :/
Maybe it's because I had to study it.

ANYWAY, BB is phenomenal.

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

No problem Luce haha, could just be my opinion but I think it is perfect in pretty much every way :3

Wow, really? I didn't think he was that bad, there is a loooot of media that tries to make him out to be really awful but I haven't yet actually seen him say anything sexist or racist :/

Dragona that sounds like you are just hating on Bieber and 1D for no reason?.. :/

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Okay back. I deem my French homework worthy of marking now.
*still isn't tired*
*wonders if having 5 hours of sleep only should be effecting her more*
*figures her body just doesn't react to anything anymore*
*after all she doesn't get hungry or thirsty so why get tired too*

Star Inkbright said...

@Silente: You're probably overtired . . . :/
Try to get some sleep. :) *hugs*

I should go soon, too . . . -_-

Luciana said...

I might watch an episode before bed, it sounds adorable:3

Yeah, he's awful. My friend saw him in concert and he was just horrible... He once called one of his fans a beached whale, y'know?
And there was a racist scandal recently; it was all over the news and everything. So many statements from him and his mentor and friends. It was ridiculous.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Matex baby! <3
Your here because anime and music is being talked about. You can't resist.
*winks*

Luciana said...

*cuddles Silente* You need sleeeeep.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Are you talking about JB? Yuck. I hate him. He's a racist jerk who abuses his fans.

Dragona Pine said...

Star: I don't like One Direction because 1. I find them horrible people. 2. They just want to make money. I mean, they have a BOOK. They have a FILM. It's just marketing. It's just more ways to make money from people. How on earth can a band have a film? They're a band. The only story that could be told is one that everyone already knows.
What they're doing is just taking advantage of the people who like them and just keep pumping out more merchandise for them to buy.
3. Their music isn't the type of thing I like.
4. I don't think they have any kind of talent whatsoever. I mean, they didn't even win the X-Factor. There's no reason why they should be this like popular when there ARE people with more talent out there - even in modern music.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

*doesn't like cuddles*
*allows it anyway*
Nah Lucifer. I'll be fine. It's only ten o'clock! I couldn't sleep if I tried!

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Wow, there is a lot of hate for him haha. Any evidence? Not that I like doubt you guys but I don't have any particular reason to dislike him at the moment and I think he is a decent musician at the least.

Haha Silente, yeah, that's pretty much right ;-;

Luciana said...

Cuddles are ace:3

You do need your sleep though, babe. The more nights you fail to have a full seven hours of sleep (or more) the higher chance you have of developing more illnesses/dying younger than most. You need to try to get yourself some sleep soon, okay? <3

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

I won't say a word against his music because people can like whi every they like music wise, personally I'm not a fan of his singing but if someone is that much of a rat with a tw and no r then...yeah no. Just no.

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Wow, Dragona are you kidding me? Like, no offence, but they have a fair bit of talent. They can actually sing, plain raw singing, and they can do it damn well. Beyond that, they have a great asthetic as a group, they work together effectively. That is actually ridiculously difficult to do, much less do well. Not that they are the greatest and certainly it's not my favorite kind of music but saying they have no talent whatsoever is just wrong :/

Dragona Pine said...

I've never heard his music, but I dislike Justin Beiber as a person. He tries to use his fame to get himself out of trouble like One Direction did with the drugs. And he's generally just an idiot, from what I've seen of him. In any case: anything good he HAS done will not make up for the bad things he's done, in my eyes.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

*does maths in her head*
I think on average I get around...6 or so hours sleep a night on average...
*shrugs*
Well. I'm not dead yet. Plenty of time to sleep when I'm a jar of ash.

Luciana said...

Matex, if I ever meet you irl do not let me disappear without buying you a drink or an ice cream, okay. Or both. Idec. You're just ace.

Dragona Pine said...

Matex: Well, what you hear of their singing using autotune. And, I've heard better people in groups. A lot better. I don't like their singing, in any case.

Dragona Pine said...

Damn and I need to ded, too.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Don't carry on the dedication war dragona. Just let me win it...

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

*super face palm*
Do you know what auto tune is? :/
When you hear people sing live or on an acoustic track it is not auto tune. And One Direction barely use auto tune anyway, they actually can sing and harmonize, and that is one of the most difficult things to do, to be able to sing a complete melody that isn't the lead but still compliments it, especially when your line is moving independently. It's like trying to read your own book while still listening to someone else read their book to you, and keep track of both.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

*rubs Matex's face scowling*
Don't hurt yourself face palming!

Dragona Pine said...

Yes, I do know what autotune is. And that's assuming One Direction DO actually sing live, because y'know some people don't. And it is possible to use autotuning in concerts.

Star Inkbright said...

@Dragona: Woah. 1D donate LOADS to charity. :O

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

Ok, you really don't know what you're talking about. Make a simple google or youtube search, yes they perform live and no they don't use autotune. Autotune (especially live) is obvious. It's an effect, like a flanger or a wah pedal, not a production technique.

And thanks Luce haha, I'll be sure to remember that :)

It's okay Sil, my face palms are more like sadly resting my face in my hands haha

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Oh okay. When i face palm its more like slapping myself...
Then rubbing my face because I slapped it...
Then being laughed at by my friend for face palming again at the fact I hurt myself face palming...
I'm a special child...

Matex Von Darkhour - マテクス said...

And as for them being popular, popularity isn't a measure of talent anyway, of course there is people more talented, that is always going to be the case, but that doesn't mean it is what people want to hear. 1D got popular because they can sing well, work together as a group, they're hot, and they perform well (entirely different from singing, they can put on a show and yes, they can be marketed).

Luciana said...

I THINK I ALREADY OWE YOU ICE CREAM ANYWAY IDK.

But you're fabbity, Matex. :3

I think it's time I allow myself to slip into the empty darkness of sleep, before it swallows me for longer than I wish for it to. Goodnight, my darlings, I love you all. Thank you for being who you are and may your morning/day/evening/night/whatever be wonderful.

Stay perfect <3

Dragona Pine said...

Matex: "autotune" was easier to write instead of "pitch altering devices". They will use them.

Trip Castalan, Lord of The Hobbits, The Fourth Most Popular Folk/Parody Banana Thief In The Land said...

Okay, time to point out some things.

Auto tune can and sometimes is used on acoustic music.

One Direction, as far as my rather extensive knowledge goes very very rarely use auto tune (when a track needs to be finished but they can't quite get it right for the deadline- like almost everyone these days)

Auto tune is not always obvious. Especially at a level that One Direction could afford, auto tune can be impossible to notice. To be honest if you are noticing it, you're probably just really convinced you can hear it.

I'm not taking sides, I just HATE innacuracy.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Bye Lucifer! Sleep well! Sweet dreams!
*laughs darkly
or not!
*laughs maniacally*
No jk sleep well Lucifer.

Star Inkbright said...

Fours, Mushroom! :(

I don't know much about 1D, only what Mara's told me, so - :)

Dragona Pine said...

Trip - yes. They can use it to smoothen out their voices and alter notes that aren't pitch perfect. It can be unnoticeable.
