And Tom isn't even FINISHED it yet...! There's going to be some colour stuff happening, and some cool silver effects added and things, but even as it stands now, this is a cover that's going to pop out at you on the bookshelf. For Tom is awesome.
Speaking of paperbacks, we're going to start gradually removing the short stories from the reprints, with the aim of collecting everything (including the Tanith novella) into one big book in the spring of 2014. There'll be lots of brand new stories in there as well, covering the entire series. So will we see a short story starring Mr Bliss, back when he was alive? Will we see Val and pre-Remnant Tanith fighting side by side once again? Will we even catch a glimpse of Skulduggery and the Dead Men at war with Mevolent...?
To be honest I haven't a clue. I'm just making things up as I go along.

I didn't really like Mr. Bliss that much until right before he died. It's like that with a lot of characters. I hated Davina Marr until right before she died when she asked Tesseract to let her stand up. I really liked her then.

Landry is doubly talented in fast surprise action, and funny eccentrics: names (Valkyrie Cain), minor characters (Aunt Beryl, White Cleaver); least in complex detail back story told not acted (I'd rather have prequel).
The villain seeks late uncle Gordon's key to the Sceptre that destroys all, including the Dublin Waxwork Museum HQ skeptical guardian Elders, who protect the indestructible Book of true Names, and can lead to the release of evil Faceless Ones. Startlingly pale blue-eyed both lovely convincing China Sorrows and (spoiler: brother) very powerful loner Mr Bliss cannot be trusted, yet he recruits warrior Adept Tanith Lee (looks 16-20s, is 70s p257) from London (homage to actual writer?). Tailor Ghastly Bespoke crafts Steph's costume at once, but always takes full four days to decide whether to help. Minions include bad paper-body clomping booted and gloved Hollow Men and good single-track silent scythed helmeted Cleavers (spoiler: until Serpine transfuses one with immortality, maybe in sequel?).
Question: Stark black silhouette figures around every chapter's first capital letter are suitably menacing, but not related when team of four should be down one, ch 28.

I just remembered that I had a really weird dream with China and Tanith, and they were both friendly, and we had to save this guy from danger, and we were stuck on an island that Skulduggery ditched us on...

Disappointing. The title/name and the cover illustration really appealed to me, but the book was generic and unbelievable from the start. I suppose some could be forgiven considering that the intended audience appears to be maybe 11 year olds (?), but I personally don't believe that children's books should be low quality just because they are aimed at children.
...oh, and saying "I'm a genius" all the time does not make a character full of "dry wit".
...oh, and being spunky child full of spunk who sprays spunk everywhere does not mean the child is equivalent to an adult. Children can be clever, creative, work in groups, et cetera but having them physically fight adults 1-on-1 strains credulity.
...oh, and not all adults are doofuses.
...oh, and saving the world is a bit ambitious for the first book of a series. You'd have to save the solar system in the second book, then the galaxy in the third book, and then you don't have a lot of options for the fourth book. Not thinking ahead there.

This morning, I woke up and it was still dark, which isn't unusual this time of year. I switched my bedside light on and looked at my clock on the opposite wall, and I thought it said half six. My clock hands are hard to see, coz they're gold in gold light against a leafy, treey background. So I was like, half six, okay, I'll read a page or two of my book to make sure I'm properly woken up then I'll finish my Science homework before I have to get up at seven. So I read a page or two, looked up, and saw that it wasn't half six after all. It was half five. So I was like, yay, I'll read a bit longer then. After twenty minutes I looked up again expecting it to be ten to six, but to my horror, I'd got it wrong a second time and it was ten to four . . . WHOOPS. I scrabbled for my phone to make certain and yep, 03:52 AM. :P So I snapped the light off and spent a while attempting to go back to sleep before eventually I DID go back to sleep . . . Then I woke up again at five past six and did my Science homework. I finished it at quater past seven. Took longer than expected . . .
BUT NOW IT'S OFFICALLY THE WEEKENDDDD AND I'M HERE. SO HI. WBD, NO WIFI.

in school today I learned about Slovenia , a teacher from Slovenia was visiting Scotland and very kindly agreed to talk to us about her home country, and guess wat? they are half the size of Scotland literally! and also they have 2.5millin people and scotland has 5 million WOOOOOO life just got better :)
