Ahem.
This probably won't make you feel ANY better about the delay, but it's looking amazing right now. We still have to get the colour just right (because this was an unplanned addition to the series, it's kind of thrown our title-colour scheme up into the air...) but it's looking beautiful. Tanith looks like a total BAMF.

The good news is, I've finished writing it. I finished yesterday and sent it off. Right now, before the editing process begins, it is 54,000 words long. That's fifty-four THOUSAND.
It was MEANT to be roughly twice the size of The End Of The World, which came in at something like 17,000 words. So when I started I was looking at a quick 36,000 word novella that I'd bang out between the end of the KOTW tour and the beginning of writing Book 8, giving me loads of time to relax and take it easy.
And it was going fine, it really was. I had Tanith and Sanguine, and they'd recruited their team of villains, and the story was rattling along and everything was cool... and then I introduced a team of good guys as well. So we have Dexter Vex and Frightening Jones and a few new characters, including the Monster Hunters (two guys I've been trying to find a place for in the regular books) and Saracen Rue. Saracen is the only surviving member of the Dead Men that we haven't met yet, and it was just so much fun writing them all that the word count kind of... ran off, dragging me behind it.
It was MEANT to be a little sliver of a book. Now it's practically two-thirds the length of Book One.
The things I do for you people, I swear...
The "Can Your School Get More Awesome?" competition is still going strong over at the Skulduggery website. The ingenuity on display is something to behold, with many of you using both social AND mainstream media (local papers, radio stations) to garner as many votes as possible. Have to say, I'm impressed at the imagination being displayed- there are some real smart cookies out there. There a few schools that are practically guaranteed to be in the top ten, there are plenty more who have established themselves as challengers, and then there are the schools with only a few votes. And to the people who put forward THOSE schools, I have to ask- how does it feel to be so utterly cool? How does it feel to be the only one in your area with enough good taste to vote? You are shining lights, you truly are.
I'm just looking at some of the photos... I love that the Bishopston school in Swansea and Heathcote School and a few others have sent us photos of the school crest- I have no idea how Tom would have drawn Skulduggery in THOSE photos but it would have been fun to see him try...
And St Annes in Shankill, who supplied an arial view... Dammit, if this had been voted for, Tom could have drawn Valkyrie plummeting from the sky and Skulduggery swooping in to save her. Argh! The potential for coolness would have been astronomical!
Let's see, what else... Skulduggery and Val would have looked awesome in the corridor of Holy Family Senior School in Ennis... and they have skeletons in St Matthews!... imagine Val abseiling down the side of Carterton Community College... or Skulduggery walking up the stairs of Selly Park Technology College for Girls... the dogs in Gabbinbar State School in Toowoomba (you don't have to look up Toowoomba to know it's in Australia, do you?) would have been able to chew on poor Skulduggery's leg... awww and I've just seen the picture from Invicta Grammar School with all the girls in army fatigues- I'd have loved to have visited there... I'm pretty sure that's a picture of Camilla visiting Brookside Primary School- so Val would have looked pretty cheeky pulling a face behind her back... and she would have fit right in with the girls from Oakmeeds Community College... Skulduggery would have been so proud to stand in amongst everyone in Scarborough College... then we have Skulduggery himself in Brentwood Ursuline Convent HS... and I'd have loved to have visited Hitchin Girls School, if only so I could have made a load of jokes about hitchin' girls...
Voting is still going on, so you've all got plenty of time left. Once we have the top ten, it'll be up to me to pick the photo that would lead to the best Skulduggery pic and then we'll have our winner. But the effort all of you have gone to is just hilariously impressive...

Apologizes, my mother decided to curse me out because a pot is supposedly 'dirty' when she shoves my hand in it and I felt water from cleaning it. I dry it off and get told its filthy and how I can't drive because a pot was clean in my eyes but not in hers. Mmmhmm a pot and road sign are so alike we stick speed linits in microscopic print on pots in the middle of the road.

It's funny, the things in my French which I tend to thing of in my day-to-day life. Like, ma maison est prés de la bord de mon village, prés de le chateau d'eau ancien.
And my French teacher wanted us to talk about things that were true, and she insisted that we had to know what every word in our assessment meant, so we would be able to remember it.
Whereas our German teacher told us to just copy from the vocab sheets and not say what we wanted to.
I'm sorry for going on about this AGAIN, but I get right stuck on it. C'est extremement enervant. And that's another thing I think in my day-to-day life. -_-

Still can't take my test until I'm offcially 16 but still like really? Come off it I mean its a god damned pot not a car. I mean I fit the legal requirements to drive but I don't have super sonic vision if I'm telling you its clean can we at least just listen to me? See she has to scream how I'm lazy, well I mean I can't do everything for her and its irritating how she thinks I'm so stupid when it comes to seeing, if I'm not seeing it obviously I'm not seeing it and there isn't much one can do. But my sense of touch is perfectly normal and I felt water no oatmeal nothing but water.

John: You just... Reverse it, I guess. But the trick to it is that you can't turn yourself completely into stone. If I had to make myself into stone, I would only turn the outside. If someone else is stone, it's a little harder, because you have to mix your magic with theirs, and then you have to work fast because the minute you start to mix your magic, you start to turn to stone too. It's a bit like a race.

*Her arms are covered in blood, and she screams, falling back and rummaging through her bag, a headache pounding at her brain like a furious neighbor hitting a door knocker*
*Cursing, she cleans the wounds on her arms, and her Philosopher's stone is pulsing- the only thing that must be keeping her alive*

*Grabs a vial of a quicker healing potion, and pours it directly over her wounds, and drops the vial, the liquid working directly on her*
*Faintly whimpers, squeezing her eyes shut*

*Pauses, then shakes her head, and goes from it, walking down the hall as her arms begin to slowly heal up*
*Dark, pomegranate- red blood covers the majority of her right side from where she had bled out*
*Stumbles a bit in her walk, barely staying upright, and stumbles for her foyer, and eventually, a shower*
*Her vision is spinning, her world flopped as if looking through a clear crystal ball, the ground teetering under her feet, and a ringing that is high and sharp*
*Her stomach churns*
Hyde: Where is Adrasdos?
Aro: Looking for Adra?
Hyde: I am.
Aro: Help me find Croatoan?
Hyde: Hey, you want to kill Aretha Tesla?
Aro: The American Elder? Sure.
*stalks down* Uh...

*She makes it to the foyer, and her legs give out from under her- her body still hasn't made enough blood yet. She grabs a railing and holds tight to it, so she doesn't slip and fall down the staircase*
*She grabs for a syringe in her bag and injects herself, and lays at the top of the stairs*

Aro: I know his true name, I have a hope to send him elsewhere. And we kill Aretha, maybe get Javier and Jay's help, four against one, we'll win.
Hyde: Alright go find Javier I'll get Jay.
Javier: Lets say we're here.
Jay: Target an Elder, hide our true mission: Kerias.
Javier: Has Mevolent any orders?
Aro: Capture or kill any Elders we see.
Aro: *laughs* Strike from the shadows.

*She, after a few minutes, manages to slide/walk/crawl down one floor of stairs, to the second level, breathing heavily*

*She lays there with a sigh*

Okay, so I have developed Aiden to his full character potential.
He is insane, though, so you might want to tone it down around him
He keeps his cool, and no one suspects a thing. He's a horror movie fanatic, and enjoys remaking the weapons of his favourite horror movie villains, using them in battle. He also has an array of his own weapons, his canon weapon being a whip.
The whip is the new weapon. It doesn't really have any magical capabilities, but I'll explain later.
Oh and, hence the dp, he is a parkour artist.
She isn't dying.
And- that's good news!
