Things That Scare Me

Not a lot of things scare me, for I am Brave, and Filled With Courage, and Nigh-Fearless. I can also be Blissfully Unaware Of Danger, and Naïve, and Slightly Dim-Witted. All of which adds up to not many things scaring me.

I mean, sure, I’m not a fan of the open water. I’ve seen Jaws far too many times to fall for THAT particular trick. Oooh, let’s go swimming, they said, and POW! Instant shark attack. And sharks won’t just attack you once, oh no. If I have learned ANYTHING from movies, it’s that sharks/wild animals will always make it personal, and they will continue to hunt you down and pick your friends off one by one until you find a way to destroy them.

Attacked by a shark? Escape? Yeah, it’s not over, buddy. The shark is now STALKING you. It has tasted your blood and it wants more, and it will go to any length to get it. If that means it has to wait for a great big truck to pass your house, lugging a huge tank of water behind it (for some reason), then that is what the shark will do. And the moment you step out of your front door the shark will SPRING from the tank and eat you.

One of these days I’m going to be eaten by a shark, I just know it.

Apart from shark attacks, though, not much scares me. In fact, the only thing guaranteed to creep me out on every occasion is my own imagination. Well, that and serial killers.

Last night, Zodiac was on TV. It’s a David Fincher film, about the Zodiac killer that stalked San Francisco back in the 60’s and 70’s. He was never caught. The film is brilliant, and you really have to stay alert to keep up as it follows the cops and journalists through years of leads and clues and false hopes. And three or four times, we see the Zodiac killing, and those scenes are horribly real and terrifically scary. Movies like Saw or Hostel don’t scare me. They might make me wince, but they won’t scare me. I saw the remake of The Crazies the other night, and I loved it, and even though it got me with a couple of “BOO!” moments, it didn’t scare me. But those scenes in Zodiac got to me because they were so, so real, and so horrible, and you can put yourself in the shoes of the victims and try to figure out how you would acted differently, and you’ll come up empty.

So there I was, watching Zodiac alone in my house, late at night. I live outside of a small town, surrounded by fields and meadows and horses, and what that means on a practical level is that there are no street lights. So every single night, my house is surrounded by darkness. Look out a window you can see NOTHING except your own pale reflection against the black.

So Zodiac finished, and I laughed to myself to dispel any nerves, and I changed the channel and, in my infinite wisdom, began watching a program about serial killers on the loose in America. By the time THAT was over, with its tales of hitchhikers going missing and people vanishing off the face of the earth, I really didn’t want to walk through the house turning off all the lights.

The moment I flicked the switch and the room plunged into darkness, I just knew that the serial killer who had been hiding behind the couch all day would emerge, and slowly creep up behind me... Well, it would either be him or the shark, one or the other.

So I stayed where I was, watching the credits roll on the serial killer program. And I was aware of the window to my left. I generally don’t close my curtains at night. I like to be able to see if cars are approaching- I don’t like the idea of being cocooned in a house with no idea of what’s happening outside. So I sat there, with the curtains open, and the pitch black outside, and I had this eerie feeling that if I turned my head, if I looked, I would see a face at the window, looking back in at me. And that creeped me RIGHT out.

Naturally, turning my head is exactly what I did, because I hate being defeated by fears that my own imagination conjures up. So I turned my head quickly, so if there WAS a face at the window I’d catch it before it withdrew, and then I’d be able to charge out of the house after it, screaming and bloodthirsty and violent.

But there was nothing there. Obviously. Naturally. There was no serial killer out there, spying on me. After all, if a serial killer wanted notoriety, there are far more famous writers to kill before he'd ever get to me. Eoin Colfer, for example. Or Darren Shan.

(I am not advocating that serial killers go after either of these two nice people. I’m just saying, if you had a CHOICE...)

Ooooh I’m probably going to get in trouble for THAT comment.

So, satisfied that no one was watching, I changed the channel again, and I accidentally flicked onto a repeat of Two And a Half Men and I SCREAMED.

So what about you, my Minions? What ridiculous things scare you? And I’m not talking about spiders or moths or terrible sitcoms, I’m talking about ridiculous, unlikely things that could KILL you. (Yes, fine, Two And a Half Men could kill you, I’ll grant you that.)

My good friend Laura, for instance, has a terrible fear of being buried alive. Because of this, I can see such a fate befalling Valkyrie one of these days, I really can...

I'm scared of black holes. They're a gazjillion miles away, but they spaghettify you! (That's the technical term. No, seriously. It's spaghettification. Science is ridonkulous.)

There's an episode of Doctor Who that gave me a fear of gas masks, too.

And flies. I hate flies. Nasty, nasty. sdjskl; D:

I have a very unreasonable fear. When I was about eight years old I read a book full of short stories about children that had been raised by wolves and all sorts of freaky wolf related things that were supposedly based on true stories. Ever since then I have been terrified of wolves. Sure it may not seem that unreasonable a fear but. . . I live in Australia. There are no wolves here and I am still terrified.

I am generally ok with scary things. Gory stuff I hate, and BOO moments get me all the time. Seriously, my mum only has to walk past the door when I'm brushing my teeth and look at me and it freaks me out! But i'm not freaked out by special effects or anything like that, cause I can always grab a scarf, wrap it around my head, shake and tell myself that they're acting. Still doesn't do much good either way. The only thing that truly scares me are spiders and my friends facial expressions when I tell them that I broke their favourite Christina Aguileira cd... *wince* My best friends laugh at me and I hate it. :( consolidation? I get none!!! Your lucky that you are so much more brave than this particular evil minion. :D

I'm scared of the dark. Outside. With the wind howling through the trees, and rain pounding on to the tarmac, even though I just need to run out, to get a book, and it's so cold, and I can see the dark silhouette of a murderer on the run, hiding behind the trees, and I can hear his heavy footsteps following me, and I run even faster until I skid to a stop in front of the hut and undo the bolt with trembling fingers, and then leap inside and switch the light on. I grab the book I need, and then get ready to step outside and prepare to run...

Thanks to my overactive imagination, even the simplest tasks become quests. 'Sigh'

I am scared of butterflies.
There was one movie I watched:
The guy was cut by 3 butterflies flying out from the ventilator. HE went to peep in the ventilator and numerous butterflies flew out and cut him till bleeding and he crashed out of the window and died.
That was one part of the movie.
I just do not like the eyespots and colour.

Well, Im not scared of many thing. I am, however, scared of zombies.

Zombies scare the heck out of me, like in zombie films they run up to you, bleeding and rotting. And without a shotgun or chainsaw, your pretty much dead.

Unlike you, Mr Landy, I keep my curtains closed, because I dont want to let the serial killer look through, and realize that there is a helpless victim asleep (or re-reading a Skullduggery Pleasant book), to know I am there and he is ready to carve me up like a chicken in christmas...

On a side note, the hardback version of Dark Days make an EXCELLENT mousepad!

I'm scared of walking down my stairs in the dark. I always imagine there's a zombie or my brother, he's equally scary, or a vampire just waiting for me to get to the bottom so he can suck all the blood out of my body....

Or eat my brain, if it's a zombie. I think I'd prefer to have the blood sucked out of me, actually.

Quick question: Since you mention Darren Shan, which of his books are your favourite? The Cirque du Freak books? The Demonata series? I'm rereading the Cirque du Freak books myself, and I'm loving it, again!

I'm scared of peoples eyes, you know wen sumthing goes into somebodys eye and then they ask you 2 look at it and try get it out... it creeps me out and I'm always afraid sumthing is going 2 poke my eye out. ugh. I'm also scared of spiders crawling down my mouth(eating my lungs or sumthing...) and heights. I hate my imagination.

Well, I like gorey movies because not only are they amazingly gross but the idiotic teenagers in them are sooo funny! I am only afraid of things that can really happen. Serial Killers and stuff like that, like whenever my mom is late from picking my brother up from school I imagine that she has died in a horrific car accident or when I miss a call on my phone and it says Unknown, I imagine that it was one of the gardaí calling me to tell me that my family are being held hostage by an insane serial killer. I've seen zodiac before, freaky movie like Hannibal.

Ugh...gross

I used to be terrified of zombies. I managed to watch Zombieland and actually like it, but after watching I Am Legend my fear of zombies was sparked and I was terrified for years. Quarantine didn't help, though those people had rabies. Either way, it's like zombies. I couldn't walk around my house at night time, so if I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, either I would hold it and wait until morning, or take five minutes psyching myself up to leave my doorway and take the few steps down the hallway, all the while carrying either a torch, phone, toy lightsabre or ipod and possibly a weapon of sorts.
I'm really glad I'm not the only one here who is afraid of them.

DARN IT!!!! I HATE THIS THING! I have this question that I have been attempting to ask for AGES but it never seems to work. Is the question doomed to haunt me for the rest of my days??
So here goes nothing: How is Valkyrie pronounced??????????? I know two ways and it REALLY bugs me when I can't pronounce a characters name!

My little brother has this phobia of grasshoppers. (which is my fault because I put one of the rarest grasshoppers in the world - it's REALLY BIG - on his head when we were living in Ngukurr)
My little bro's a fan of skulduggery pleasant as well, but the lazy kid won't read it himself! He's SCARED because it's so BIG! HA! I've told him over and over that's it's EASY and that if he EVER wants to finnish the faceless ones he has to read it himself. but he won't, 'cause he's silly.

stupid kid and his obsession with captian underpants at his age.

And why am I ranting about my kid brother?????

I don't think I have any irrational FEARS, more like irrational FACINATIONS. I'm a true bush gal. I like snakes and spiders and crocodiles and kangaroo's (yes, they are VERY dangerous)....

hmm.....

FAN GIRLS!!!! THAT'S IT!!!! Like when one of my friends went twilight obsessesed *shiver*
That's one of the main reasons I hate Justin can't-spell-his-freaking-last-name. That and the first timme I heard one of his songs I thought it was a very annoying homosexual girl singing. Fan girls FREAK me OUT!

FAN BOYS! THEY'RE EVEN WORSE! When I was in this high-school of 500 I *somehow* managed to collect three crushed boys *shivers again* let me tell you something.
REALLY SCARY.
especially when they where all, like, three years older than me.

Captain Sparkler. Being afraid of geese is NOT weird.

ZOMBIES!!!!! Freak. Me. OUT! I can barely watch SAUN OF THE DEAD! NOTHING else in the whole scary monster thing freaks me out! ONLY ZOMBIES! I couldn't sleep without my light on for six months straight after I saw I Am Legend!

This's been a long one, hasn't it?
Sorry

so beware of the jellyfish but they dont scare MIGHTY HOLLIE :D

puppets do :/
they a freaks seriuosly why would you want a puppet at the end of your bed staring at you while you sleep, and then you go and watch scary movies involving puppets ><
its just horrible they will kill use ALL
but you have to be aware of the clown puppets the most they are the evilist O:
*closes eyes*
once when i was in fionas house there where dolls at the end of her bed i couldnt sleep seriuosly i mean it, and then this other time i was watchin a scary movie involving a puppet and the only scene i can remember was it crawling up the stairs with its head spinning.
It took me two hours to level the sitting room to entre the dark hall and i still had to bring the heavy fireplace poker.
IT WAS SOOO SCARY.

so puppets are my deep dark fear ¬¬.

Sharks?Did you know more people are killed by alligators and crocodiles every 10 years then people killed by sharks in 100 years!Amazing isn't it?

Quick question: Since you mention Darren Shan, which of his books are your favourite? The Cirque du Freak books? The Demonata series? I'm rereading the Cirque du Freak books myself, and I'm loving it, again!

My answer: I like the Cirque Du Freak books, there my joint first favourite series of all time, Skulduggery pleasant also being joint 1st.
Then H.I.V.E by Mark Walden
Then the Alex Rider series.
I don't like the Demonta, I read half of Lord Loss and got bored. It's too tacky. With the Cirque Du Freak, Skulduggery Pleasant, Alex Rider and H.I.V.E you can NEARLY believe it's real. I've got the Whole amount of books that has been made of the Cirque Du Freak, Alex Rider, Skulduggery Pleasant and H.I.V.E under my bed but since Mortal Coil is a long way away, I am reading the Cirque Du Freak, the film was alright but it missed too many bits out.

One night I watched the movie The Ring (I'm pretty sure you know that one) with my best friend and shortly afterwards I recieved an anonymous call on my handy.
Usually I don't let myself get scared that quickly, because honestly. I'm the creepiest creature nearby. And people regulary remind me of that.
Still, for the first time I completely freaked out and my friend had to sleepover.
Now thinking about it makes me grin about my sillyness.

okaii things I'm scared of.... not much but there there.

okaii before I move onto things I'm scared of I wanna say what I'm not scared of... okaii I'm not scared of horror movies like saw or resendent evil or I am legend or alien vs prededtor ( which i have on my xbox 360 :) because they are ammence films!

I'm not scared of vampires or zombies or anything like that in fact I find zombies quite amusing... how can i not be scared simple when ever I watch films about them I say to my self not real not real.. somtimes I even laught at how fake they look (like in the grudge films)whilst my dad screams... yes he screams.. and if I can't do any of those I watch a happy film or kids program before I fall asleep so my imagination cant make the film 10 times worse

okaii Things I'm scared of well I'm scared of the saw maze at thorpe park (probably the only thing there I screamed at) I went in there twice once at the front once at the back... as for movies well the only movie I'm scared of is the ring ...

I watched it when I was around 9 and even thought I'm 13 now I'm still terrified for those of you who haven't seen it its about this girl who has this tape filled with wacked out stuff and when you watch it it cuts of then you get a phone call syaing your gonna die in 7 days...

7 days later your TV goes static and she comes out of it and kills you .. now thanks to my imagination ( and a bit of the movie unborn) I'm now terriefied shes gonna come out of the TV, toilet (okaii it was in one of my nighmares so dont laugh) and the bathroom mirror (so its now practicly impossible for me to have a shower) even if im going to the bathroom or turning of the light I have to run when I'm finished so she doesnt get me...

okaii I apoligize for letting this be so long but... yerr :3

Read all the books, especially the end of the last book. Then the Prologue of the first book and then you will see. Darren Shan isn't the True name of the main character, he changed it when Mr Tall gave his-young-self the Diaries after he died, became a little person, and went to Paradise. He changed his name because in his life which he had lived when he was younger, being half vampire and so on, was deleted from history as he died and came back as a little person, went to the first night of the Cirque Du Freak and chased himself (back in time) away from the Cirque so his life would be erased and he could make a new one. Mr Tall gave the Young Darren the diaries so he could write them up into a book so then people would know of Mr Tinys cruel nature and the truth about Vampires, Vampaneze and so on. The Darren who writes the book (which is the diaries) into a book, changes the names of everyone in the book so it will not cause people to be in the middle of everything. Learn To Read.

I know it's hard to keep track of but you'll get it eventually.

I'm much the same, I hate being alone in the house at night, yet I will still torture myself by watching things like most haunted! And then get paranoid about walking past windows, just in case there happens to be a ghost sitting outside.

I'm scared of quite a lot of stupid things that I know I shouldn't be, spiders being one, blood tests and needles being the MAJOR other thing. I'm an adult and I still have a tearful sitting in those terrifying chairs, I just can't handle it at all. :) But I have a morbid fascination with blood, they always tell me not to look but its like "No I want too because its awesome".

Same with planes actually, I'm terrified of flying, not per-say of the flying part, more of the crashing and dying horribly part. Yet I love aviation? I love being around planes and studying them, yet I know that planes are incredibly safe but I just still wont go on one for the small chance that it'll kill me.

I saw this program on tv YEARS ago about this shark, and any time I go to the beach I still think THAT shark is going to gnaw off my foot then work its way up my leg as I scream and cry out in AGONY! The shark's skin is colored like the sand so it's really hard to see. I pretty much only ever go to the beach in the winter when NO ONE is around to hear me SCREAMING as it starts to eat me, and draws other sharks to where I am with my fresh, oh so delicious blood that they would feast on 'till there wasn't even the tiniest droplet or smallest shred of flesh left. Yeah that's one thing I'm scared of. Also ever since I was little I've had this irrational fear that someone is always watching me when I'm alone at the house. He's constantly looking through windows somewhere and listening to whatever I say, sing, or whisper. He's there only for as long as I am alone. Watching my every move. In fact,....I'm alone right now and....Oh man is that a shadow on the window's blinds?? Uh-oh....
*Sighs with great relief as I realize 'tis merely my outside cat*
Whew! I'm glad my fears are not yet bearing fruit!

Oh yeah and squirrels. Some squirrels anyway. Have you ever seen one gnawing on a nut, and then it sees or hears you and it just....stops? Well then it will do one of two things. 1 run away and chatter and look cute [Those of which I am not afraid.] Or 2 look up. Then it will STARE at you with it's horribly evil LIFELESS eyes. Just waiting for you to turn your back so it can JUMP on you and tare up your head with its claws and scratch threw to your brain as you frantically scream for help or fruitlessly attempt to pull it off.

Worms. Worms and bugs.

I also saw this episode of 'Supernatural' years ago, and this thing came through the windows of childrens rooms and sucked out their souls or something. I slept with a pillow against my window for two years.

OH! And I'm terrified of something under my bed reaching out and grabbing my ankle when I get up in the middle of the night. Ugh.

ThatGirlTheyKnow said...

Okay, one time I was at my friends house, sleeping over. We were in the lounge room with the TV. AND IT TURNED ON! No. Kidding.
We were just lying there, and the TV (which was turned off) went blue, then it went all static-y, like in The Ring! WE SCREAMED! it was terrifying, and now I can't sleep at my friends house without throwing a blanket over the TV.

One of my daily jobs is taking out the bins. I have to walk up the driveway - most of the time in the DARK. At night, my street does not have street lamps. I always think that - get this- DUSK is going to come and kill me! Seriously! Derek, you are the reason I'm scared of taking out the bins! And I always feel as though he's waiting in the trees, staring at me, waiting to pounce the second I turn my back! HE'S GOING TO EAT ME, DEREK, AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! I AM GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF YOU! HOW COULD YOU?!

Ahem.

Yeah. And that.

My friend made we watch this video on YouTube with a freaky Ronald, and now I can't eat my Happy meal without looking over my shoulder every few seconds. And worse, my school is taking my grade to CANBERRA, and we are stopping at like, five McDanalds's on the way there (We have to take a bus! No!). Me and my friend made a list of the people we are going to save from Ronald. We're thinking about taking knives.

I have to say, im scared of puppets. once i saw an add for a movie, and NO, it wasnt chuckie, but is was equally scary. it had something to do with these miners discovering some secret chamber and finding this scripture written in blood or something. the message is hundreds of years old and talks of the ghost of this lady who died. and when u turn around and see her, your not allowed to scream. because the moment u scream she cuts off ur tongue. *shiver* gave me the creeps. plus, she had all these dolls/puppets to help her. and one bit this mother walked into a room and the musics on and u know somethings gonna happen but u cant stop looking and then she sees this table with a cloth over it, and the cloth has a shape under it and as she reaches for it...*scary music increases here* it moves in a frenzy!

the screen goes black and u here her scream....

another thing that scared me was jurassic park. when i watch movies, i usally watch them with my dad, but this time i was sleeping over at my nan's house. she fell asleep during the movie, which didnt help. i was forever spooked from the velocer raptor scenes, and ended up having to put myself to bed without saying gudnight to her. (she was still asleep)

and then when i got to bed, there is this freaky picture of my sister when she was little playing in a field. it is right across from the bed i was in, and i didnt want to shut my eyes and open them again and see that HER EYES MOVED!!

i eventually got to sleep but still had nightmares. then i watched it recently and saw the dodgy animatronics and so on. no longer scared of that, i am...

but 5 weeks ago, while watching the knew dodcter who, i was scared crapless. another problem i have is suggestive themes, like in doctor who (the statue eps.) when amy's looking at the picture of the angel, and then looks back and it moved. then she KEEPS SHUTTING HER EYES (wot an idiot) so that it can keep moving. and u dont truly ever see it move until the second eps. when she's in the forest. but then i saw how they did it, and i saw all of them goofing off, and i found it funny.

yep, thats all that im scared of.

I'm afraid of the kitchen which is connected to the hallway, when I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I have to walk past the dark kitchen and I can imagine someone stepping out of the dark with an everyday kitchen knife in their grasp :o

Thats one of the moments which I get scared off :P Or the fear of walking into a dangling spider as I walk in the dar lol!

The results of this:
1. I have mistrusted unicorns ever since. I had dreams of the dead unicorn becoming a zombie and charging at me.
2. I was terrified of walking into my dark bathroom, because Voldemort was certainly hiding behind the door, ready to swoop out at me in a flutter of CGI black cloak.

Oh God.
I'm scared of a lot of things.
One, that isn't really THAT ridiculous and yet my friends and family laugh at me for it, is this:
When I was four my big cousin (who is just SO lovely and THOUGHTFUL and caring towards his little cousin. My ass.) Told me that at night, if you hear three knocks at your window, a face will appear for a split second, and if you see it, you are going to die, or someone close to you is.So if you hear knocking, do NOT look at the window.
At the time, I told my big cousin I hoped that I heard three knocks and that I hoped that the someone close to me would be HIM.
But now, for about 3 years, I have never EVER faced the window when I'm lying in bed.
EVER.
And because Northern Ireland is always so wonderfully rainy ( -__- ) I keep thinking the rain on my window sill is knocking. And that scares the crap right outta me. And the other problem is, I have two windows in my room. So facing right, I can't do. Facing forward, I can't do, so I'm stuck staring at my over-flowing pin board and I keep unintentionally making scary faces out of the photos and pictures that are on the board.
I don't sleep very well.

The other thing I'm scared of, is ventriloquist dummies. And manequins with faces like the ones you see in museums. After watching a 'Goosebumps' movie when I was about 6, the one where the dummies all come alive and possess some kids and kill the rest. It terrified the crap out of me.

And I hate the sea. It is so scary. I never go futher than a couple of meters out while there's still sand and then I see a rock or something and I'm terrified and swim all the way back like I'm being chased by the scary people on Loose Women (I am serously terrified of that show, too. It is UNSPEAKABLE.) So I am terrified of the sea, so much. I won't go out too far. It's so freaky. And my parents thought it would be a good idea to take me to a diving museum where they had all these actual diving suits from the year 19-something. And they were so scary. I turned round and there was one of those creepy suits from the Spongebob Squarepants Movie (watch it) and I screamed and threw my camera about 6 metres in the air and broke it... Surprisingly, in that museums, there were also maneguins with faces that spoke...ughh.

And small spaces. I cannot breath in small spaces. They're just horrible.

The other thing I'm terrified of is cotton wool. It just scares me so, so much. It's not that I don't like the feel of it, (which I most certainly don't) but it's just so bad that I'm actually scared of it and scream when I'm forced to go near it. *shudders* I hate cotton wool...

And I hate that movie Jeepers Creepers. With the huge big creepy lorry that makes the really creepy noise and all the bodies pinned to the wall...

And I hate farming machinery. It looks so alien and freaky. My dad says it just my 'aversion to work'

But having said all that, the one thing I am absolutely terrified of and won't go near as long as I live, are garden gnomes. They look all unnaturally cheery with these freaky smiles and glassy eyes and you know any minuet they're going to come into your house while you're asleep and get you. We had one once, and when I had a friend round one day, I asked her to carry it to the bin because I refused to touch it. She agreed, and I tagged along hissing threats at the gnome the whole way to the wheelie bin.

I'm quite a strange child.

Hi, Mr.Landy. I can't wait for September! Why? Because Mortal Coil will be out by then! But it's not available in my country so I have to go to the neighbouring country just to buy your book (and it won't be until like end of September for Mortal Coil to be out in the stores). That's how much I like your books. I dare say I'm your biggest fan in Brunei (well given the country's population, that's hardly surprising). I live on the opposite side of the world. Brunei's pretty small so it takes a while to notice the 'Brunei Darussalam' print on the world map.

My parents do not approve of reading novels. They say it's not going to help my studies (but I'm top in my class and I'm from the top school in the country and I think the reason for that is because i read a lot). But I'll not give up my passion for reading, because how can I when there are so many great books like yours?

If I have children, I would encourage them to read. I would introduce the Skulduggery Pleasant books to them because I want them to experience the joy that I have had reading your books.

My qualifying exams are next week. I'm half-prepared and I feel awfully nervous. I'm scared I won't be able to meet my teachers' expectations. I'm expected to get 8A's for my cambridge 'o' level exam (which will be in November) but I guarantee the best I can do is 7A's and 1B. Can you wish me luck? I will need it and your wishing good luck might do wonders. Magic exists, right?

I am afraid of, well, really good horror monsters in movies and video games. I have to say if I had to pick a particular monster it would have to be zombies.

Though I read horror books all the time: aka Darren Shan, Edger Poe, etc. I am never afraid of horror books until I see it on TV or the theaters.

But movies like Scream and Shawn of the Dead are just plain stupid, in my opinion. Good movies are I am Legend, 13 Ghosts, etc. But when it comes to the "BOO" parts those always get me.

When book 4 of the Skulduggery movies comes out I really do hope they do a good job at the zombie attack scene. Come on! Creep me out! I dare you!

Zombies. Mummys (like, not my Mum, but you know, the toilet paper freaks) and the idea of monsters under my bed.

No, seriously. Monsters. Under my bed. I know they're watching.

I remember once at halloween when i was 6 or maybe 7... me and my BFF had a sleepover at her house. She slept on the floor and i slept on her bed. At this stage, i was fine with halloween. Nothing creeped me out - well, except the giant spider on the bathroom mirror, that made me scream - but yes, i was fine with the whole idea of people running around, freaking each other out to grab candy (greedy, huh?)

But, yeah, then the lights went out. I'm okay with the dark but then i kept hearing scratching noises under my bed, and i peeked my head over to look under and a brown bear hand lunged for me and it's fingers got tangled in my hair.

And i SCREAMED.

Then, my friend's dad walked in saying 'I thought you were going to try that again.' and then i heard the giggles from beneath the frame. Apparently, the halloween before, her dad had played the same trick on her, and her Dad told me it was fine.

But it wasn't. I'm honestly freaked out by what's under my bed.

And do you know what? My bed has buggies and high chairs under it (we're giving them someone for their newborns... i'm not sure why we still have them) and i'm still scared that something will jump out from underneath.

So i take a 3 metre leap from my light switch to my bed each night

Oh, and chickens. They creep me out.

Here's a fact: Sharks will only attack you when your wet. (thank you dave re-runs)

I like sharks. Everyone seems to hate them but i agree with Stephen Fry (my god) and feel sorry for them, because they're beautiful creatures that are dying out because people kill them only for their fins. Gerrrr...

I dont like Birds. yeah, thanks alfred hitchcock. That Movie is awesome. The end that doesnt really end, it's just... brillos.

I also hate spiders. I can deal with birds but i hate spiders. A 5p sized spider can have my screaming at the top of my lungs, which then makes me dizzy and then makes my sick. The Worst exsperience with a spider ended thusly. I can't even watch the lord of the rings thing with the spider without wimpering like a child (much to the amusment of my friend Tassie) and that spider is completly fake! The main problem with the fear is that my natural instinct is to run or attack and if the latter once the beast is dead i feel really sad.... then pariniod it has babies that will come after me.

Oh, and i'm terrified of Twishite.

Scared of sharks? Just watch Deep Blue Sea. It's like Jaws, but its set in a marine biology lab or something. I actuall;y nearly died watching it - died LAUGHING. It wass really that bad. The only good thing about it is the cook and his parrot; his swearing, cursing parrot. The fake blood isn't even paint - they just died the water red and chucked it about everywhere. The sharks are obviously robots. A guy has his leg bitten off, then he stops bleeding immedietly afterwards.

So, when you are being eaten by your shark, Derek, just remember Deep Blue Sea. It could always be worse. You could be WATCHING Deep Blue Sea.

Oh, and is this just me, or do other people actually have this fear - that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. Seriously! Ducks are evil!

Oh, i am scared of vending machines. More people are killed by vending machines than sharks. Seriously, they are. Think about it, killed by a shark, unlikley. Sharks don't like the taste of iron. All those menacing chocolate bar holders think about is smushing you up into a bloody pulp on the floor infront of it.(Sorry if that was to gory, but it's all true).

So, my friends. Sharks are friends. Ish. they usally mistake you for a seal. THIS IS NOT AN INSULT. Seals are cute. But vending machines are your mortal enemy. MORTAL. although hard to kill. or more destroy.

I have kinda weird phobias:
1)Abseiling. I HATE it - I was abseiling once and i tripped and fell so i was hanging upside down. I am NEVER doing that again.
2)Things in my ear. (I have another good explanation for this one!) When I was younger, I was sleeping, and a mouse crawled onto my pillow, bit my ear and ran away. Now I hate things being in/near my ear (excluding earings).
These things could kill you!! You could fall off a cliff while abseiling (ugh) and fall to your untimely death/splattering!! Or, you could be bitten by a mouse/rat/flea ridden animal of your choice and then suffer the deathly consequences! You could catch a diease! The plague!! The possibilities are (almost) endless!!

Dieing any way sounds scary, though what would really freak me out is being mind controlled and forced to kill yourself. That's the type of thing that gives me nightmares. Heck, mind control in general, especially if you don't know that it's happening to you, scares me.

well derek, I am afraid of going to school & the teachers changing into mutant alien things and eating me If I do not return my homework on time, I will say it's a stupid fear but, it could happen.
& also people reading my mind and making every single fear I have come to life then haunt me.

but unlike most people, if a scary clown came up to me, i'd take it's hand and spin it around in circles then probably put on some music, and dance! (I'll admit, I am a terrible dancer so when I say dance I mean clumsily fall over and get back up again whilst waving my hands around)

Yeah, I know, what a stupid thing to be frightened of. But it's true. At school we are learning about the respiratory and circulatory system. And so whenever I see someone breathing I imagine I have x-ray vision and I can see the way their lungs and heart and arteries doing their work.
It seriously gives me the major creeps.

Thanks for answering my Q's Derek. :D

Dragona Pine, I love H.I.V.E. too!

It is sad that poor sharks have a bad reputation and inadvertently cause nightmares. They actually aren't all that vicious, or so I hear. At least they're in good company, with the misunderstood but awesome snake, spider, toad, and clown.

I elaborate more on what scares me in my blog: http://minniefacts.blogspot.com/
but here it goes.

I'm scared of people in vehicles. When a car passes me, my brain goes, "kidnapper. Kidnapper. KIDNAPPER. KIDNAPPERRRRR!!! Oh, good, they passed." When my friends and I travel sidewalks of busier roads, my brain takes some comfort in its subconscious understanding that no one will kidnap us there because of all the other kidnappers around. Each one is afraid they'll try to kidnap us at the same time as someone else, and they don't want to start a kidnapper war. Now, now. No need to defend your vehicle-driving self, friends, or family. I know I'm being super paranoid and very few vehicle drivers actually are kidnappers. Some of my best friends and favorite family members drive vehicles, but if I see you or anyone else in a car, my brain will immediately translate that as "kidnapper." You can never be too careful. Or so thinks my brain. Sometimes, I don't even recognize my family until they get out of the car. I'm too frantic deciding the best course of action: run, hide, or see if it's someone I know.

I don't like the idea of getting kidnapped and killed. I'm not scared to die. That would be like being scared of Jesus or paradise. In the immortal words of Linguini, "She believed in heaven, so she's set. Afterlife-wise." But BEING KILLED...I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy it.

I guess I'm scared of Zombies, but only because I know they'd get me dirty. Look at them! They're positively unhygienic! (But I Am Legend and Resident Evil and Alien Vs. Predator didn't scare me much, and Zombieland was actually entertaining.)

There's lots of other things. Generally, I'm scared of everything and nothing. It's hard to explain, so I won't. ;)

ok well i have MANY MANY MANY fears. so ill go through some of the ones im most scared of.
ZOMBIES. im fine with vampires, werewolves, ghosts and things but one of the things i REALLY hate is ZOMBIES.
i keep imagining something like i am legend or something comming true and the zombies battering on my house, killing my family and then limping after me fighting for my flesh. coz to me something like that could happen. im perfectly ok if a vampire wants to suck my blood (hey, at least their gorgeous and it will be over quickly) im perfectly ok with werewolves ripping me to shreds (not sure why on that one :|) but zombies to me are an unstoppable force which will eventually take over the world.

now for fear 2.
DUMMIES. no not baby dummies, you know the ones i meen. look ive never seen chuckie apart from the front cover (which made me creeped out instantly) but ive read a goosebumps book on a dummie when i was little and ive seen the buffy episode with one in (yes the dummie turned out to be good in the end but that didnt stop him creeping the hell out of me)
i just keep imagining one comming into my room, grabbing my foot and yanking me onto the floor so they can chop me up into little pieces. yes, pity me. this is what im so afraid of so that i dont take my feet or arms out of the covers.

fear 3: the pie man.
now most of you guys wont know what im talking about but how many of you watched the episode of grusome tales for grizly kids with the pie man in when you were little? any of you? well look it up on youtube or something and you'll see why im so damn scared.
i was five. FIVE! it scared me for life! for 6 years i never opened my window once (even on the hottest of nights) it was only 2 years ago that i started opening it just coz it was too damn hot. i never sucked my thumbs but i still bite my nails so i still fear he will come and cook me up into a pie. yes. i am a scared scared child.
fear 4: mad murderers and kidnappers
i keep thinking one will come into my room and kill me and sever all my families heads and laugh manically in my face before chopping me up and chasing me around the house. *shiver* no wonder i like to have my window shut, my door closed a crack (not so its shut. coz ull see that in another of my fears) and my duvet pulled up to my neak.
fear 5: my room shutting me in and never letting me out and scaring me with zombies, madmen and stuff until i kill myself.
you can thank me asking my dad to expain some movie to me that i wasnt allowed to watch. ive forgotten its name. i think it was a steven king. room 324 or sumfin like that. any of you care to enlighten me?
fear 6: clowns. dont know why. they just creep me out. apparently theres another steven king called Clown or sumfin that put my mum off them for life. its just an instinct that clowns r bad thats all.
fear 7: all sycological thrillers. I saw Hide and Seek once. never. again.
i dont mind blood and guts films. i hate the ones with the creepy music and creepy stuff when u know somethin bad is gonna happen and eventually it does. i dont watch many but i do sometimes and i ALWAYS regret it. ALWAYS
well thats just a few of the things that haunt me every day of my life. OH also life itself scares the crap out of me 2. ALL THE TIME
and on that happy note i bid you all farwell as ive spent far to long tying all this and i need to tidy my room :(

and lily and anyone else who sed doctor who is the source of peoples fears then i agree with you only very slightly because of the empty child and the statues and the shadows called the vashnanarada (dunno how its spelt) but i also disagree coz how could anyone be scared as long as the goregeous david tennant or hilerious matt smith is there to save you? one of my dreams is to be wisked away in the tardis by the doctor (preferably those one of those two)

I must admit, being scare of Zombies is kinda logical, and I agree with Minnie Miracle Zombieland was entertaining!

But then again, so was Jaws. It's just the music, it sounds like the pink panther but isn't, aha, memory, my friend started singing the 'Jaws song' when I yelled, "Pink panther!"
This was before I had seen Jaws and ruined my love of open water.

I hope GeckoGirl cleans her room nicely and makes it all prettiful, (okay that's not a word,)

My Imagination creeps me out.
I have an irrational fear of coming face to face with my horribly disfigured self. Then it attacks me and makes me look like it.
And Waking up and finding some kind of monster on the floor in the middle of the night while it's pitch black. Im scaring myself writing this now. I keep looking behind me.
It scares me cos if it closes my door, I can't get out cos my window is all big and sealed and it only opens at the top where i can't reach.
Then they will all come and devour me piece by piece and rip me apart while im still alive. Like David in Shaun of the Dead.
eeeuuuuuh
I can't be in the house by myself in the winter when it's dark, I don't go upstairs till my mum gets home at 5pm.
If im in the house on my own I walk with my back pressed against the wall.
I slept with a conopy over my bed till I was 10, which I tied around my bed like a protective shield while i slept to keep out the monsters and creatures of the night.
Always worst at the witching hour. Always.

I'm nearly 15. Dear God.

well ceysa i tried to clean my room (tis so tiny and full of junk) but then at the back of the cuboard i found my old enemy. sequin art.
now when i was about 8 years old i asked for sequin art for my birthday as they were just so damn sparkly and prettiful (u have invented a new word ceysa ;)) so i got one of a dog.
5 years later and i still hadnt finished it.
so i said to myself "NO! TODAY IS THE DAY I FINISH THAT SEQIN ART DOG!"
so i spent two whole hours sticking pins and sequins into pollysyrine and then...it was complete! FINALLY! AFTER 5 YEARS! then my sister pointed out that i had missed one. stupid sister.
anyway i stuck in one more pin and now i have finished! :D
but by then my legs had seezed up for kneeling down for two hours so i couldnt stand up. so i dragged myself to the computer chair and here i am. to damn exhausted and cramped up to tidy my room.
but sadly i was at the stage where you throw everything out of the cuboard and onto your bed so you can sort through it and stuff. so now my bedroom is even more messy than to begin with.
*sigh* so now you see my problem. and this is why sequin art is my enemy.
so heed my advice people; SEQUIN ART IS EVIL!

now if you excuse me im going to play google pacman until i can stand up again.

I'm not really scared of anything except...clowns. And those mimes on the street that dress in gold or silver and paint their skin that colour too and when you walk past they look at you with those creepy made up eyes and try to entice you to be their friend with gold fairy dust in their hand. I am never fooled. And then when I reject them they act like I've just killed their beloved pet with a tortured face like, "How can you not love me? It's not like by day I'm a mime and by night I secretly snack on small children while they dream."

Well, anyway. I have a couple of questions.
- Can you tell us how many pages make up Mortal Coil?
- This may sound really weird to some people but I've been sensing that there's a potential SOMETHING there between Valkyrie and Skulduggery? Especially in Dark Days. Yes, I know it might be a tad gross to some people, and yes I know she's with Fletcher and all, but I think it's kinda cute if she has a crush on Skulduggery... Don't eat me for saying that. Because eating me would be bad. Trust me.

a. eggs
b. gets takeaway
or c. a sandwich with far too much cheese or salt.
so sadly EVEN when ill say i'll make it myself he INSISTS i have one of the above (mostly eggs)
so he forced me to eat them and then when i was picking at my food he sighed at me and sed "your eggs are going cold" and i death glared him so much until he sed "fine make yourself some cheese and crackers"
but oh no. it was too late. id already had some of my eggs and crumpets and i felt kinda ill. so i mumbled that i wasnt hungry and stormed up here. so here i am. having another teenager sulk.
AND he wouldnt let me go for a shower till id eaten my eggs and crumpets! even though i smell discustingly of horse and sweat.
he is not a good father!
AND!! AND!!! he ses hes fashinable and that im not!!!!!! he wants to take me shopping for my friends party on friday EVEN THOUGH i insisted i had it all sorted!!!!! im not wearing a dress but my friends have DEMANDED no jeans so i bought a nice top and waistcoat and im wearing my cropped combats and converse. its all fine! and then he gives me a lecture bout fashion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now you all know another one of my fears: what my dad is going to make me try on in the shops for my friends party. *shicer* i shall be a laughing stock!
*sniffle* pity me.

geckogirl out.

cringe-worthy quote of the day: "im hip. im down with the style. i know what kids think are cool and whats not. ill help you get something stylish. you need an experts help." - my dad. today in the car while me and my sister were laughing at him. im not laughing now :(

Well, that was a bit random. what triggered that a sudden moment of insanity? no offence my golden god but it was. well my performance went great. and the guy of my dreams asked me out on my last day. Once I watch a doctor who episode, you know the one of the first time the doctor met the weeping angels, with rose. well THAT compleatly freaked me out and now I have a fear of blinking. and being in the dark makes me feel vulnerable, like the creatures of of darkness with their dasterdly wings and cruel sabre teeth will aproch the hose on the dark, dark street named mayroyd lane and through the cracks in the window. and then...
Did that spook anyone out. and of coarse i'm scared of the FACELESS ONES, i meen who isn't?

Doctor Who is amazing I have been watching it ever since it has started up again....

Christopher (9th doctor) was good and all and I thought he was amazing but then the lovely David tennent came along and I was like WOW this can't get any better now ... but then they decided to "kill" him off..

So now there was Matt Smith who i thought would never ever ever be better than David Tennent but alas I was wrong and he is my favourite of all time ...

I even tried his fish custard but lets just say I'm sticking to mixing my custart with kitkats instead of fish :)

I think the season Finale was AMAZING! as are all of the seanon finales which is why Im proud to say doctor who is and always will be my favourite program of all time ... just like how skulduggery will always be the best book sereis of all time for me ...

Seriously Derek I think you should be proud and stop comparing yourself to other amazing authors because I think your better than them and your just to modest to admit it for example sorry to all the harry potter lovers but Derek your way better than J.k. Rolling

Wow I actullt wrote a normal comment :)

If Warner Bros turn down Skulduggery, then I cannot stress how much it will cost them.
The Skulduggery movie will be EPIC.
A SENSATION.
BIGGER THAN TWILIGHT. {woah...}

I love the Skulduggery books equally with Vampire Weekend. Trust me, you will not get a higher compliment. EVER.

{and yeah, I have a niggling glimmer of hope that I will have the chance to play Valkyrie. Of course the crunch will be my height. It allways is. I'll be too short. Tis the cruel way of the world.}

what scares me??? let me think.....i dont have any ridiculous fears, but i think if i had to pick it would be something like black holes and a giant star exploding (ie, the sun), but i cannot watch serial killer programs. i get so SPOOKED. once my mum was watching this program about this woman writer aand some real serial killers who inspired her work, and it went on about the killers house what it was like, how he killed his victims, and i was so scared that i couldnt go upstairs cause i was scared there would be a mad man with a chainsaw, waiting to kill me. spooky. also, one night while being in Bulgaria on holiday, i watched the movie 'Orphan', about the russian mad woman who was 33 but was stuck looking like a 10 year old, who went around killing everybody who upset her. the film wasnt scary, but it the woman was so life like that i was sooo scared. that night when i was going to bed, i was too scared to switch off the light, because the room there was MASSIVE, and i was scareed that the moment i switched it off and turned around she would be there, getting ready to kill me. what a scaredy cat. i watched part of jaws in my english lesson. man it was so funny. it was so fake. but i do agree about the stalker sharks, they might be out there, watching you, making sure that when youre alone they will STRIKE. but apart from that nothing really scares me. im sorry if this is really long, i got carried away. :S

Taylor dummies.
No, really. They scare the crap out of me. I mean, you just happen to be walking through a cloths store and see something just barely inside your field of vision and think it's a live person and then you turn around and find a frosen dummy with a scary smile (if it has a face at all) and clawlike hands. Gah. They look like they are going to eat someone (which they could probably do with, normally looking like they are a couple of meals short of healthy weight.
And I am selecively afraid of heights. I'm fine with airplains, and even standing on the edge of a cliff and looking down a hundred feet of sharp rock, but give me a stepladder that only reaches the second floor and I go rigid like a piece of wood.

See, its got windows, so the person at the door can look right down the hall to our living room. so strangers can tell if there's someone there, like me, so since there's some one there they wont leave without selling me something. eeeeelllchsh.

H.I.V.E : Zero Hour
Alex Rider/Stormbreaker : Scorpia Rising
The Saga Of Darren Shan : None (character dead)

If you're scared of Sharks, don't go swimming in shark infested waters with a bleeding arm or a surfboard. Sharks are not stalkers, you are!

If you're scared of Clowns *puts on a clown mask*

If you're scared of Dummies, you Dummy.

If you're scared of Derek dying, that won't probably happen unless Darren Shan goes on a rampage.

If you're scared of your own imagination, stop thinking and be a monk, "Let all Problems go, empty your mind, relax."

I think I get comment 200! Yay! Anyways, I have a fear of tornados, creepy people, and ghosts (even though I don't believe in them)

Tornados: I've never been in one, but I used to have dreams all the time about tornado destroying everything!

Creepy people: Um.. they're creepy.

Ghosts: I don't even know. I guess it's just the concept of a semi-transparent creature that can float in your window. Ecxept Casper! He's friendly =D

Oh, and supernatural stuff, like just the thought of seances... :P

The only supernatural movie I've ever seen was Haunting in Conneticut and that was supposedly based off a true story and I didn't even watch half of it! I was hiding my head in my friend Sandras shoulder most of the time, jumping when I heard scary music and screaming when I heard a scream.

So, I dont do well with supernatural movies, but I can read it in books.

But, of course, I always need another person in the room and if I stay up reading it late at night, I won't fall asleep very easily and I'm scared that if I move, something's gonna happen.

So, in simple terms, I'm a scardy-cat.

Anyways, think I've ranted enough?

Hahaha well, post again soon! =D

Anyway, after that bit of randomness, they're not real, if they are, we can't see them. Oh i heard somewhere that they'res a type of sound that makes the skull and brain vibrate so the brain doesn't understand the sound so it makes you see things. So check sound and try again, if you think you've seen one.

Wow, just name your fear and then I'll tell you what to do about it lol.

BLOODY MARY.

.......It freaks the hell out of me! And I always watch late at night with a friend, and we're always like: "Dude. WAIT OUTSIDE THE BATHROOM FOR MEEEEEEEE!!!!" Haha.
hm,what else. BABY DOLLS AND VICTORIAN DOLLS. Holy snickerdoodles, they scare the crap out of me!It totally doesn't help that my friend Shleena can do a really creepy childs voice saying "I'm coming to get you!" AHHH! And looking out the window at night. After watching endless horror movies. And my cousin deciding to go into detail about zombie fleasheaters after I commented about that I thought they were those seriously bad movies.
I know this sounds strange, but at night, I hate quiet. It makes me feel like a killers gonna jump out and kill me, so I always sing loudly. Just incase, so my parents know I'm being murdered.....o.O
I hate feet, I don't know why, just do. HATE HATE HATE WOOBLY UNSTABLE HEIGHTS. It scares the crap outta me! I can't even do ropes in PE cuz I get all panicky and have an almost asmtha attack.
Can't do really small closed spaces, and from that, being buried alive. and concluding, Dying, death, and churches. I just....can't.
Anway, YES I WATCHED SHERLOCK HOLMES. SO. AWESOOOOOOOOOOOMEEEEEE!!!! HE'S GOT FLICKERS OF THE SKUL-MAN.
DEREK! IF YOU LIKE ZODIAC, YOU'LL PROBABLY LIKE WHITE CHAPEL!!!!! IT'S ABOUT JACK THE RIPPER!!!!! WATCH IT!!!!
Right, this is actually seriously creepy. Yous'll probably not have a clue what I'm talking about, but, anway. So, like three months ago it was my 13th (I'm older than I look.....really 135. o.O) B-day, and me and my friends Shleena,Erin,Chloe and Geraldine were at the resteraunt Charly's. Me, Chloe and Shleena went to the bathroom, into stalls, and hear this really creepy little girl going. "Hi there....are you my friend? are yoooooou my buddy?" In a seriously creepy english accent. We were like squealing, and she was like. "Oh, you're scared? YOU SHOULD BEEEEEEEE!!!!" And giggled evily. We screamed and ran out, and the thing was, we could see her! But she seen us! And we went back to the table, having a theory that it was a wee girl from the party beside us. But they were ALL THERE. We were like screaming if one of us laughed or anything! And my dad was taking pictures, and later said that a wee girl from the other table was in everyone with a creepy face. It gives me goosebumps thinking about it!!!!!

stay weird.

I hate really gruesome movies so save myself the embarrasment of being laughed at and i avoid horror movies at all costs...apart from Van Helsing and movies like that, cause i find i stare at my door for an hour before i go to sleep expecting a clown faced serial killer to creep up and end my life there! Most of my friends know this so when i have them over they seem to hide in dark place and jump out when i least expect it...i then continue to crap myself and run/jump...i think its just a reflex...
Also the ocean...not really the ocean itself, its the fact that i know there are hundreds of sea creatures beneath my feet and any number of them could swim up and snack on my feet and i couldnt do anything about it except scream and kick like crazy hoping it goes away for fear of losing an eye.
And sharp objects in the middle of my feet, ill have a heartattack if someone so much as puts a manicured nail in the center of the bottom of my feet.....<_<
And cockroaches...i didnt realised i feared them until i hit one and missed...it flew at my face T_T

I envy you and your...uh...nerves of steel O_o

I'm not sure HOW I became so terrified of them, but I'm guessing it would be from my last visit to Seaworld. It wasn't very smart of me, but I sat in the front seats to see the 'magnificent whale' Shamu swim around all fish-like and in action. How that chunk of blubber swam so closely to the glass tank was just so... creepy... for all I knew, that thing could have done some kind of flip, break the glass, and... and SQUISH me to death....
That would be a horrible way to die...

mmm okaii I have one vote ... for china dolls :) prepare to be scared :) ... ok her goes...

one day a girl and her mother are in town to do a bit of shopping .. when they finish doing the shopping the mother promises the girl a toy and a movie tonight for her good behaviour ...

she takes her daughter to the charity shop to pick out a toy and she spots a beutiful little china doll with blue eyes vlonde plates and rosie cheeks its wereing a lovely vitorian dress and the girl decides she must have it they then pop over to blockbusters to grab the girls favourite movie...

when they get home they stay up to half nine watching the movie then go upstairs... the little girl is so tired that she forgets her china doll downstairs ......

later that night the girl wakes up she can hear a voice coming from downstairs its sounded very high and quite smooth . a few noises were made downstairs and then the girl heared clearly what the voice was saying ... "im on the staiirs" the girl git freaked out and tightened up under her covers the voice came again " Im on the landing" the girl froze as she realized the voice was a lot louder now ...... to be continued

lol :) there you go it will be continued when someone else askes to hear it ..

I am scared of almost everything, well afraid is a very strong word. Let's say I am over cautious about things. But I m positively sure that someday a zombie apocalypse will ocure! There is nothing I am more afraid than zombies. And having a good imagination doesn't help me at all. I am terribly afraid of walking alone in the dark, but still I like it. Haha, we use to have long walks with my friends after midnight just because the darkness scares us like hell(well mostly scares me like hell)and because of my imagination I can almost see the strange monsters and things, and have some times too!
I would have some ghost stories to share, things that have happened to me and my friends, but I am pretty sure no one is intrested.

Also another thing that I am scared of.... kidnappers! Imagine being separated from your family and friends and your life dreams! :-\

Also I would just like to ask people here (based on a theory I have since I read a comment about the first book) Who here likes Harry Potter? Because I think a lot of Potter people are Skulduggery people. The comment I saw in the praise for Skulduggery Pleasant section in the 1st book said that potter people would love it. And I think it is kinda like Harry Potter in a way but really different in another way.Obviously skulduggery is still better than potter. The action scenes and dialouge and the original plot rock in SP. But the things I love the most are the evil secrets and the general evilness.

Cool nova :)!

Oh and PLEASE hurry up with the movie!! My sister told me that she didn't know about Potter till the movies started coming out so if the movie of SP comes out then loads more people will read it and I won't feel as lonely. Of course I still have all of ye fellow fans :)!

Ok this is my GHOST STORY!

Once this old woman moved into this old house. She had to fix it all up first. When she was fixing it up she painted over a graffiti written in whatshe thought to be red paint in her bedroom saying "BEWARE!" That night she woke from her sleep to hear footsteps in her room. When she turned on the light there was nothing there. The next night she woke again and heard the footsteps getting closer and someone breathing. She turned on the light and saw nothing. The next night she woke again but kept her eyes closed determined not to let what she thought was her imagination get the best of her. But she still hear the breathing and the footsteps getting closer and closer. Then she heard a voice beyond evil whispering "closer.... closer..... closer" and so on. She got very scared and started to open her eyes but then the voice turned into a shriek, "DON'T OPEN YOUR EYES OR YOU WILL DIE!!" She shut her eyes as tight as she could. Still it got closer and closer. Before long she felt hot breath on her face. "I am so close now .... oh but you can't see me can you?" It, whatever it was laughed. The old woman couldn't resist any longer. She opened her eyes. She saw a flash of red, and died. She lay dead beside the freshly written sign "Kill The Living Create The Dead", written in her own blood.

Scary huh? I made it up myself.

she took the china doll and threw it out the window and tried to get back to sleep and later descover this was a dream but 10 minutes later she heard the voice again it said exactly what it said before but instead of saying im in your mums room she went "Im in your room" the girl quiclky looked at her door and saw her doll the doll flashed a crucked smile and pounced the girl screamed and then the house went silent ...

Okay, I think i learned that at this science trip we went on (i remember that bit, wasn't paying attention to the rest, i tuned it out because i got soooo bored)

My Horror Story (that I haven't made up yet, just making it up as i go along)

The House stood before him, the windows reflecting the moonlight onto the road. Darren opened the door, letting John go after him. Ahead, the steps were rotten and crumbling away. There was a screech, that echoed around the house, it shook them up more than being hit with a thousand hammers. John was trembling now, "D,d,d Do you w,w,want to g,go out?" John asked. Darren knew he was scared. "Just a couple more minuites," Darren said, not scared in the slightest. They crept up the stairs, all of a sudden, the steps gave way and sent John tumbling into the void...
Darren's hand shot out, grabbing onto John's wrist, his grip like iron. He pulled John up, using both hands, with his feet hooked around a banister, keeping him from falling. They carried on up the steps, testing each step before putting all their weight on them. They arrived at the top, the walls were rotten and some pictures hung on the wall, slanted. They walked into what would have been the bedroom, exept it had no bed, there was a large hole in the floor, with the bed down in the kitchen. They heard the floorboards creaking, so they turned around, and then standing before them, was the translucent figure. It had long claws, jagged teeth and red eyes. You could see the beating of the black sphere in it's chest, the skin being nearly transparent. The weird thing was though, it had no veins. All it had was a black excuse for a heart, and this was not a metaphore. It lunged at Darren and John, claws outstretched and teeth snarling. Darren avoided the lunge, rolling out of the way. But John wasn't so lucky...
The claws ripped John's stomach, spilling his intestines all over the wooden floorboards. John hung in the air for a moment, kept up by the arm of the creature, his expression was amusing, but Darren was in no positon to laugh, his best friend was killed.
The Creature ripped his hand out of John's stomach, having veins intwined with his fingers. Darren felt like vommiting, but he knew this would waste time, so i ran out of the door, sprinted down the steps, two at a time, the creature following him all the way. Darren dived out of the door, coming into a roll to absorb the impact of such a high speed dive. The creature stood in the doorway of the house, watching Darren stand up. The Creature couldn't leave the house.
John's body shattered glass as it flew through the window, landing in a heap on the road. And then it awoke...
John stood up, translucent now, with the black heart throbbing in his transparent chest. John looked at Darren with his evil red eyes. Darren ran, but John was faster, with a synthasised laugh, he jumped upon Darren, knocking him to the ground. Darren tried to get to his feet, but John was pinning him down, he curled his claws into a fist, and smashed Darren's head into the ground...
If Darren wasn't as quick, then he would have been killed, John's fist was stuck in the road, a hole which could have fitted his fist in with the force of the punch, but couldn't let his fist back out. Darren kicked John in the head, and again, then realised it was having no affect, so he ran, all the way home and hid under the bedsheets, wondering wheather it was a dream, or was it real...?
John yanked his hand out of the ground, and set his sights on Darren's house, going in for the kill...

Hope You like it. I made it up all by myself and made it up as I go along, hope it scares you.

My imagination is insane at bight as well, Monique! I tell it to shut up that NOTHING is going to happen, but it won't listen! It keeps popping up images of some creature crashing though the window after everyone has gone to sleep and jumping up onto the bed and taring me apart! Or dragging me out to it's lair so it can take it's time on me.

Joukki I'm interested! I like stories.

Not a HUGE fan of Harry Potter, Joukki. I've watched and very much enjoyed all of the movies, but I've only read the first book. Haven't gotten around to reading any farther.

Ok I haven't read all the comments. So I'll be back later to read them. :3

Whoever said to listen to witchcraft by pendulum, you have a good taste in music. I usually don't like electro music, but this song is AWSOME. People should listen to evil by interpol. Don't judge it by the video. Also the guitar riff in hunting for witches by bloc party is awsome.

Darkane Claw said...

Oh I forgot. Wait all the way through the intro for hunting for witches. Don't judge it until you get past the chorus.

That's pretty good, Odile!

I agree! China dolls are SO creepy! That's why I wanted Fudge-Cake to tell story about them. xD I'm weird like that lol.

Dude, AWESOME Dragona Pine!!

I am really scared of nasal sprays. Like, the medicinal ones. My mother has to give them to me when I'm sick, because quite frankly, I can't. I feel like I'm going to DROWN.

Fears, hmmmm, I think the one that scares me the most would be trapped in a time field where each and every hour I am killed only to be brought back to life to die again in a new and terrible way. maybe its unlikely but with the things I've seen it'll probably happen. On another note, will you be writing anymore spin offs from the Skulduggery series or will you leave it once the series is finished? Also what is your taken name? and how would you reckonmend that we, your minions, choose ours?

Valora Destry said...

Like Corporal Wolf, I am also curious to what your taken name is. PLEASE TELL US!

Me too I am afraid of sharks! I was traumatized as a child, because the television aired the movie Shark, after that I refused to swim in the bathtub forever, I was afraid that a huge shark with sharp teeth emerge from the water to eat me. Even I was afraid to cross the aisle, if I was a shark I was very young and although I knew that sharks could not live out of water I ran through the hall as fast as he could. Well now that I'm something more I'm not afraid to cross the aisle, but still can not bathe in the tub, since I only shower.

Also I'm scared of fairground attractions, it makes little sense, because in theory they are safe, but I do not trust anything, and if doing a pirouette, the harness is desprense i fall to the ground? would be horrible.

apart from that I have little fear, unlike many people, including my friends, I am not afraid walking down a lonely street at twelve at night, to relax me, I'm afraid not fear muggers or rapists, funny right? I think I was defending well enough

kisses;)

okay, i will stop commenting EVENTUALLY. its just that i'm bored and i have nothing to do. okay, how about this as a horror story? i made it up myself, (well made it up as i went along). ;) enjoy.

there was a village not so far away from the main city of London, the village was called 'Neverend', you see the locals there were very superstisious about ghosts and vampires and ghouls, and other mythical creatures. There was one house which was supposedly 'haunted' and nobody went in. Legend goes like this: once 50 yeras ago, there was a family that lived there, The Willmonts, but they werent any normal kind of family, according to the story the the couple who lived there had 2 kids, a boy and a girl. the girl was 5 and the boy was 7. But the father was a drug user and an alcoholic, they had very little money, and what money they did have was used on paying the bills and feeding the kids. The father was a gambler and he gambled alot in the nearby casino. One night he won the jackpot on the slot machines, so he felt lucky and tried his luck at gambling again. of course he didnt win anything, he gambled all the money away, borrowed money, couldnt pay it back. he said he needed time, but after 4 years, the death threats started. He couldnt take it anymore and went to the bathroom and commited suicuide, by hangning himself. About 5 years later there was a horrible fire that broke out, killing the entire family. But the people who moved into that house, heard strange noises, saw strange things. In fact there was a woman once. She woke up in the middle of the night, to hear a strange moaning sound, and the sound of a child crying. thinking nothing of it, she went back to sleep. a couple of hours later, the same thing happened. and it kept on happening, everynight, at last after a month, when it happened again, the woman went to investigate, following the sounds of the moaning. she entered the bathroom and saw the husband hanging himself, spooked she left. the sound of crying started so she went to have a look at that. she found the little girl in her room, curled up in a ball at the far end of the room, with a woman standing over her, obviously beating her. the woman stood there, silently. then the ghost of the mother turned around, and said: "Leave now, or you will regret it, just like these people..." then a litter of dead bodies fell on the ground. some Burned, others cut, and one, the woman could not take her eyes away from it, the man had been cut open, and had, had his eyes gouged out and all that was left was black blood all around the empty eye sockets. the woman was convinsed that she had imgagined it, so she stayed. Two weeks later she woke again to the smell of burning. there was smoke pouring in through the crack of the door. then there was mad cackling from somewhere, the woman went to get out but the door was locked, and so were the windows. the smoke was pouring in more quickly now, and the flames were licking at the door. she was pressed up against the wall, eyes wide with fear. then there was another ghost. the ghost of the cook. in fact it was her that had murdered the family. The cook had a history of mental ilnesses, the fire had been no accident. she saw the cook, her face distorted by hatred and madness, setting fire to the kitchen. whitin seconds the entire room was on fire and the only thing that could be heard was the womans shrieks, from outside of the house nothing could be seen, the only thing that could be heard from miles away was the shrieking agonized screams of the woman as she burned to death. It is said that whoever lives in that house, never survies for more than a month. And so the deaths continue, year after year, century, after century. Never stopping, never resting.

the end.

did you like it??? (Ps, this is NOT A TRUE STORY.)

(still making it up as i go along)
(same characters, before the incident above)

Darren awoke to the sound of howling, he looked at his clock, 1:25, "Damn wolves," he thought to himself. He looked out of the window into the darkness. Some condensation appeared on the window infront of him, dissapeared, and then came back again. He could hear the growling. His alarm went off, and made him jump. It was playing "Hungry Like The Wolf" and he thought how strangly appropriate it was. The breath dissapeared, "The Breath!?" how had he thought that? But he knew in his heart it was true. Darren went to John's house, after ringing him. John opened the door with a water pistol,
"You ready to go Wolf hunting?"
"Yep"
They set off walking, they could here the rustling of bushes and Darren could feel the eyes trained on his neck, watching, waiting. He could almost feel the breath on his back. Wait, he could feel the breath on his back! He turned around quickly, and there was nothing there. Darren and John started walking again. He could smell dead flesh. He could feel the breath on his neck again, warm and heavy, he turned around even quicker, and there was nothing there. Darren looked to the rustling sound, and there, hidden in the darkness, was a wolf, and it was huge! It was at least three times the size of a normal wolf, it bounded after them, so they ran. There was an Army Surplus Shop just down the road so they headed towards that.
They arrived at the shop, and the shopkeeper handed them a AK-47 and a hand grenade. Darren shot the wolf, but the bullets hit the fur, bounced off, and burrowed itself in the tarmac. Darren cursed and John threw the grenade, having already taken the pin out. The grenade landed underneath the wolf, and it blew up, sending bits of wolf everywhere. All that remained was four legs, nothing else. John stayed at Darren's house, and they talked a lot about the wolf.
"Did you see how big it was?"
"Yeh, it was huge"
"It was a Werwolf"
"What!?"
"Too big to be a normal wolf"
"You Sure?"
"Perfectly"

BLOODY HELL I DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!
I DELETED MY POST, YOU KNOW WHAT I CAN'T BE STUFFED I AM SICK OF MY STUPID COMPUTER AND I AM NOT RE-TYPING THAT ENTIRE THING ALRIGHT!!!!!!!

Bsiclly it said that i was afraid of cockroaches,(like i mean afraid, like pick something you scared of and multiply it by trazillion, that is not even close to how scared i am of them, i would explain why it's weird but like i said, I CAN'T BE STUFFED)

and i love sharks, how you can be scared of them is beyond me!!!!!!!!

RAAAAA I HATE COMPUTERS, I CANNOT BELIEVE I DELETED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT WAS A MASSAVE AMOUNT OF TYPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT IS UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S sharks are awesome!!!!!!!

Unknown said...

alright i will say why it's weird but it will be short and i cannot be stuffed telling you the huge embarrising story all over again

ok most ppl have a reason why they are scared of the thing they are scared of, even if they know it's stupid to be scared of it, well i don't. i know that their is no reason to be scared of them, i know they can't hurt me but for some reason when ever i see the something inside me snaps and i have the same reaction everytime(can't be stuffed typing my reaction)
so there is no reason to be scared of them but if i see an actuall live cockroach i just snap. but i ain't scared of anything else, sharks snakes, the dark, high places, confined small spots, i love all those things, but if it crawls i freak, basically. :(

My imagination is extremely overactive. One thing in particular that STILL makes me hate to turn off the lights is the sandman. I saw the movie at school, when we were doing gothic horror and it scared me so much. As did the film, The Virus...anyway. Going upstairs on my own always freaks me out too. And being home alone. I always imagine Dusk or someone coming to get me D:

i have no idea why, but whenever i watch a zombie movie, for a day or two afterwards i get REALLY paranoid. like one night after i finished watching diary of the dead with my stepdad,my momma got too scared and we laughed her into their room, i went upstaires thinking "oh what a glorious movie, i should watch it again" so i turn out the lights crawl into my bed and get comfy. until a thought hit me, what if there really WAS a zombie apocolypse?!?!?!?! what would i do? how would i survive? would i be able to blow my family's brains out if they turned? *my answer was a resounding yes a few weeks later because my mom grounded me* anyways, im lying there in my bed with my eyes still closed, thinking of horrble ways to die in a zombie attack when i feel as if something is looming over me. as im sure most of you know, this is a very bad sign when its dark and late and you've just seen a horror movie. so i did the natural thing, i sat up quickly a punched blindly in the air. well my fist hit something so i got out of bed screaming and grabbed a pool cue i keep near my bed *shut up i have serial killer issues too and ive desided im not gonna killed without breaking it over his head* and turn on the lights with it raised above my head. turns out, it ws my stepdad coming to check on me cause he's cool like that. i accidentally made his nose bleed and almost broke it. i screamed at him for a little bit for getting blood on my carpet and then we went down stairs and made us some hot chocolate. and this is why i am scared to crap of zombies. *also they took away my pool cue:,(*
