Demon Road Book 3 Will Be...
With Desolation only a few days away, I am still hard at work on the third and final Demon Road book.
From the beginning, I wanted these books to be as streamlined as possible — I wanted them short and punchy. Now, I completely failed with Demon Road, as it was a pretty big book, and only got slightly better with Desolation, which is shorter, but it looks like I'm finally getting the hang of this with Book 3, which will hopefully be the perfect length.
And the title?

Hello, hoomans!
Meep!
*hides from compliments and that one comment seemingly shouting her name*
*also looked up what balut was*
.... That's a Philippine dish.... Never expected it to look /that/- ...
*agrees with Noelle*
*mumbles about changing her profile pic again*
*mostly to a better picture of her once she can get it*
Wbd. Doing cleaning in my room.
Here for about half an hour, maybe, if I remember.
Hello, Hope and Star!
@Hope email! :)
*waves to the Starar*
*happy*
BLOGGER STOPPED TREATING ME AS A ROBOT. :DDDD
:) *smiles at Lav and Kas*
*nodsnods to Kassy*
Okay!
@Lav: Yay!
roboooooooooootssssss
Hi
any one have cookie
@Anthony: Nah mate. If I had one, I'd be eating it.
Damn it I want a cookie now.
awwwwww
@Star May I interest you in some propaganda? Click me?
Anthony!!!!!
*gives scout cookies to everybody*
@Kas: Sorry, I'm at school.
@Hope Uh... *waiting for reply* *wonders if you got the emails*
@Star S'okay
*facepalms*
Did I or did I not just mention a whole table full of snacks? Including cookies? Just yesterday???
*chucks a cookie at Anthony in welcome*
:P
*gives one to Star*
KASSYWORM YOU DID NOT JUST SEND ME A RECORDING OF YOUR VOICE.
I had a friend in my room and she was looking at me so strangely when my reaction to hearing you was literally---> O.O :O :D <--- all of those faces combined!!!
Sending you a reply in a bit!! After I look at those other links you put up.
Seriously though. Clicked the link with no idea what I was going to be hearing then all of a sudden it's /you/!
Give me a little warning next time! XP
*right, videos*
@Lav: But I want to eat one in real liiiiife!
you don't have to watch 'em Hope
Uhhhh...
*shifts eyes away, hiding the bag of literal cookies that are in her room*
Well, I watched the one you emailed, Kas. That whole thing about players creating the world sounds really cool. :)
But it costs so much money??? O.o People are willing to spend that much to buy ships?
Or is it mostly game money?
Our organisation had so many people jump into EVE this past week, we went from 0 to 7-8 players for pretty much no reason other than because of me obsessing over it on chat :3
So yay for social experiences!
(Everybody in EVE seems to be evil :c)
Still, the game sounds really cool. :)
COOKIES??
Oh noes for evil players. D:
*frowns*
If your actions are what causes stuff to happen, what about those who just hang about without joining an organization?
*tosses more cookies to Anthony*
Good boy. But don't go all crazy for them, kay?
:P
(^*makes that face to show she's joking or teasing; for the most part*)
No, I'm sure most people would just get in-game money, probably using taxes for large organisations, but, say, you ended up with one of these ships, if you scrapped the ship for parts and sold those parts and then traded that money for dollars, you'd get something like that.
Selling the actual ship would probably get you even more money because these ships take time to build and are risky to do so. But what I'm saying is that you can put a monetary value on things, so it's more realistic?
Ah. Okay. I think I get it now. :)
*looks down at the choco pie in her lap*
...
I would share, but it would have to be virtual.
... People should come up with a way to send things instantaneously from the Internet. Then I could send lots of things to you guys.
That would be so fun.
*realizes that people might also want to send /themselves/ but if they did, they'd shrink like that kid from Willy Wanka*
*Wonka hahahaha
*Wonka
I thought that other spelling looked strange...
@Kas: Jinx. :P
:3
:)
So what about my other question? For those who want to play, but don't want to join a group?
I'm sure there are some people like that, right?
*is awaiting the return of Eve*
It's kinda funny when two Eve's are being mentioned on here. The game and the ROCK. XP
...
*return of Eve sounds like a good name for a story*
...
THIS GAME IS GIVING ME STORY IDEAS AND I HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED IT. >.<
Oh, sorry, I forgot to reply! :/
It can be difficult to figure things out by yourself, I would be utterly inept at wormholes if a certain member didn't help me out by showing how they're found and explored and how to stay safe (I warped on top of a wormhole and there was a ship there I panic-jumped to the sun and the ship followed and I asked TEST what ship it is (the told me it was a covert ops/interceptor, as ship that is invisible and can trap you, stop you from escaping as more ships show up and destroy you) so it followed me to the sun and I jumped to a random spot in space and activated my invisibility cloak and just stood there, wondering what to do since that ship would likely have backup near the wormhole so I couldn't escape and was stuck in this system and I found an alternate wormhole out so yeah)
And I probably wouldn't have survived that if I didn't set up a "safe spot" I could've jumped to (the one after the sun) and if I didn't check my scanner and notice the ship and if I TEST didn't tell me what type of ship it was.
So there are oganisations that operate in dangerous space and set up stations and mines, or organisations that explore wormholes, or attack wormhole explorers, or fly stealth bombers, or manipulate the market by buying and selling items or transport items or be Russians or mine their territories or manufacture and research items.
So it's okay if you don't know what you want to do but once you find something you like, it's more fun to do it with others since this is a game focused on player interaction.
@Hope oh dear, do you have a computer to play it?
*whistles*
*or rather, whistles horribly since she's not even good at it*
Now I get what you mean about players being evil.
What about like, space ports or places you can dock at? Does the game have something like that?
My computer doesn't even have Internet connection. -_- So no. But rather than playing, the story idea I have based on it is worming it's way through my brain...
Along with a /ton/ of sci fi cliches...
*realizes she's not cleaning her room*
...
*pouts and wbd... Again*
No internet??? How are you talking to me??? Flare guns? Messenger pigeons?
Okay, see you later!
*Munches on cookies*
Hello, Anthony! What's your favourite SP book and character? :)
Wats SP?
Skulduggery Pleasant?
Ohhhhhh lol
that would be Kingdom of the wicked and my character would be Reggie
*resists the urge to roll her eyes because her meaning was unclear in the first place*
*oops*
My /computer/. As in /only that one/, is having a problem loading a browser. I've tried opening all of them. Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer. None of them work, even though my computer /says/ it's connected to wifi.
On an unrelated note, I've noticed that the word 'dude' is being used a lot more from people who haven't used it so much before. Like, Star and Moss are saying it. And I'm wondering if I started that, because I've been using the word a lot on here. But I first got the term from Mikey(TMNT TV show) and then Percy Jackson(which I've been rereading recently).
Ah, cool!
OMG WHAT NO STANA KATIC IN CASTLE ANYMORE WHAT IS THIS HERESY PURGE PURG PURGE
@Hope uh...
:c
Is there a way to fix it?
*knows Castle, hasn't seen it*
*wants to see it*
Is it going into a new season or is the actor just leaving for some reason?
*cue the moment when Kas means a different Castle and my embarrassment at trying to understand things that I don't*
Also, it's dinner... And my stuff still isn't put away...
*frowns*
*shrugs*
It's like, 5 years old. I want a new one.
But if I /can/ get it fixed, I know someone, but it would be a while before I can see them again and ask if they can take a look at it.
Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion where Fillion plays Castle. Just saw this spoiler and I'm mad they got rid of her for the rest of the season and idk if she's coming back probably not and then the series is gonna end who the hell thought this was a good idea PURGE PURGE PURGE EXTERMINATUS
@Hope Hmm, is it just browsers that don't work, do you have any way of confirming whether it's actually connected to the internet? Or maybe try plugging it in with an Ethernet cable rather than wifi? Because it sounds like it isn't connected at all since nothing works. Maybe the internet administrator (someone in your house) has stopped the router (if you have one) from connecting to your computer just to screw with you?
*nodsnods*
Maybe there's a reason why?
And if you're this upset about her leaving, and if other fans are too, then there could be an interview later asking why she left?
Just speculating what might happen.
I mean Internet administration is a function of the router maybe somebody set it up so your computer can't use wifi? It has these features so people don't steal wifi.
*shakes head*
No one at my house would be that mean. Trust me.
The Ethernet cable might work, I haven't tried it yet, but I don't know another way to confirm that it's just the browsers.
All I know is that where it shows the wifi connection, it's connected and on.
I don't see why they'd do that.
I mean, we have passwords here, but most of us know it. And my computer already has the password saved.
If that did happen though, it was probably an accident.
I just don't know who to ask...
Right, well, dinner was called, so I gotta go eat.
I'll be back later.
*hugs*
*leaves more cookies*
*is getting annoyed at inability to help her*
Hmm
*frowns*
I am on my phone. There is software to control your computer from my phone :O
And, I'd say if no browser works, it's probably a connection issue of some sort.
Bai Hope!
I totally forgot half of SP....I think a re-read is due.
I remember Ravel though. I could never forget my lover.....that and I have the card of him beside my bed on a wall.
*is back and back to being distant*
What's the software? And could you get it on an iPod?
*agrees about connection issue*
I'll have to talk to that person I mentioned earlier. He's really good at computers and tech, but his job keeps him busy so I don't see him often.
*needs to get the last three SP books*
And I left the middle three books in America...
*has the first three on her ebook reader*
(Ugh
I have an English mock on the wife of bath in twenty minutes
*swears*)
*hugs Chloe and gives her a cookie*
Good luck.
(*eats cookie and cries* thanks
*goes g my doom*)
*waves in a belated farewell*
I day "dude" because of Lizzie.
*wondering where Eve is now and if she's planning to come in at 1:30AM again*
*mumbles*
We shouldn't keep doing that, but I guess if she doesn't have a lot of time...
*decides to work faster in case Eve comes on before she can finish cleaning*
She says it too?
*is curious*
What's /her/ influence? Or is it just cause everyone else says it?
*finished putting most of her stuff away*
*finds a dead bug under said stuff*
eeeeeeppp!
*hides from the bug, not caring that it's dead because she just doesn't like it*
>.<
Sorry, something suddenly came up. I have to go.
Be back later!
*poofs*
Well I was going to come in with a killer rap verse, but...
*sits and waits*
*Will sneak on surreptitiously to greet Eve* hi Eve!
*is backs*
*creeps up behind Eve and jump hugs her*
Boo! :D
*also realizes she came on one minute after I left*
What really bad timing for both of us. XP
*is violently attacked by Adra and Lav* Hi guys!!
*tries being brave and picking the dead bug up with tissues*
*has only accomplished pulling out a few legs*
NYAAAAA NOW IT'S ON MY BED. D:
Hi Eve!
How's life been for you? What have you been up to since we last talked?
We haven't really gotten around to asking and answering those questions yesterday. XP
*has also gotten my cousin to take the bug*
*she only had to use one tissue and that's probably why it was easier for her*
*I used two*
Well, I guess not much! My academic life is honestly going downhill since this year, although I'm doing really well for now I'm losing any interest I had in school and university...so that's going to show in my performance at some point. I've been doing more acting, and have picked up a new hobby: tarot reading! I really need to get back into it because I've been really lazy lately. I've gotten my hair shrunk too, as you can see! Haha.
Tell me about you now!
*would also like to say hi to Noelle and offer her some fruit?*
*or tea, if she prefers that more*
*still distant*
Tarot reading sounds cool!
I don't have much to tell, honestly. ^.^'
I'm still living abroad with my family in Japan. I no longer have to do school, so I help around the house instead. I also got a new guitar(it was a while ago, but maybe you didn't hear about it?) and it's purple this time. :) I've been practicing with it way more than I had with my pink one in America.
And recently-not-so-recently I've been writing again. Remember that dragon story I was working on way back when? It's changed /even more/ since I last told you about it! But I'm once again stuck and having issues, so I stopped in order to collect my touches better.
That's about it really.
*facepalms*
Seriously, autocorrect???
*thoughts
No I never heard about the guitar! That's good, purple is good. Yeeeeeeees the dragon story! Writing is the worst when you get stuck, but you're really creative so I'm sure this will only be a little while. :)
... Eve. It's been /four years/. I /still/ haven't even finished a first draft because I keep adding more stuff to it!
*dies*
*the guitar is a dark purple color and is an acoustic with amplifying options*
*it also has a name- Melody ^.^*
*and if I could have your email, I could send you a link to the story*
*well, what I've done before stopping*
*it's still horrible though and probably shouldn't be shared yet*
Yeah but this is all part of your destiny! It will happen XD
evej@outlook.com !
*thanks yous*
*and I'm /trying/ to get it to happen! It's just taking an epically long time! >.<*
That's a good thing though, some people will speed through writing a novel only to completely change the whole thing, and some people will take the longest time to create an at least half-perfect piece before editing. It's all gooood
*Will gratefully accept the tea*
my mom has been learning to do tarot readings ever since VOL. she is actually at a silversmithing class today
*if you say so*
*sent the email*
*which reminds her of all those times when Sparky, Nix, and Mist would keep commenting 'replied' in a row. XD*
*speaking of Mist and Nix, they've got a coughfailedcough podcast on Youtube called TBA mostly about the Skulduggery series*
*i could send a link if you want*
@Noelle: :)
*silversmithing sounds cool*
:)
*curiously pokes Eve, wondering what she's up to now*
Tarot is so much fun :D
Yeah, send me the link, Lav!!
*they have two videos(warning, each about an hour long) and this is the playlist*
:)
(also, replied!)
@Lav I think I mentioned a while ago, but my natural instinct is to call people dude, I'm just used to trying to suppress it because some people are like "it's dudette" and I think that word sounds stupid. However, I recently realized that most people here don't mind being called dude, so yay.
Haahahahaha
So I have seen Lav's face and heard her voice, I've seen Star's face, I've seen Val's face, and now I've heard Nix and Mist's voice. Nix's Melbourne accent is hilarious XD
Oh and Sparky's voice!
@Eve: *replied too :P*
*is going to stop playing dead now so I can talk normally*
@Moss: Ah. I think I now remember that. I once made the mistake of calling my aunt dude... She didn't take it well at all. >.< (kind of a reflex since I call myself dude when I'm excited or shocked about a thought that I get, and she said something that brought the reflex out)
@Eve: Yep! I was grinning as soon as I heard them speak. It was only last year(I think?) that I finally got to hear what they sound like!
No wait! Was it two years ago?
Oh right. I don't think I was actually here during the Christmas holidays last year. So it /would/ have been two years ago.
Time goes by too fast on the blog!
Four years feels at least like ten...
*fast /and/ slow
*is commenting too much again*
*needs to stop adding to comments /after/ she's already posted them*
I've met Val IRL.
AND YOU ARE LUCKY MOSS.
I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE. IT LOOKED FUN.
Wait... Didn't she post pictures on her blog?
*takes a mental note to find them again and look for people in the pictures*
DUDE NO. NONONONONO. FLAPJACKS.
*curses the robot box to Hades' realm*
This is the kind of story that deserves the fanciest casing...your writing style is gorgeous, and perfect for a fantasy.
Where was that, Fabi?
Thank you, Eve. ^.^ I'm happy to hear you like it. :)
*mumbles*
Though I wish I could still add that 'emu egg' bit in there somewhere... ;P
hahahahaha *vaguely remembers something about the emu egg*
Val's party.
Val lives about 45 minutes away from me. Elleni and Dugglyn live less than an hour away, too. (I think. I don't know exactly where they live, but I know where Val lives because I've been to her house)
So many Seattle-area minions. :-) :-)
Hello, Eve! I don't think we ever met! *waves* I am Kas, my cahracters are Tia and Tanya!
*also waves to Fabi and Hope* :)
When I first put the story on my blog, winging the chapters and writing the very first draft, I hinted that the stone was an egg and you guessed if it was an emu egg. :P
Calamity guessed a griffin, I think.
And now autocorrect is trying to capitalize the G. XP
*waves back to Kas*
:)
*mutters about robots*
Huh? That's you as Bride of the Blood Tears?
EVE
HI
(just here really briefly because. EVE)
ah, yes. Robots. Put AI in a spaceship and give it guns. What could go wrong?
(bonus points if you give it nukes)
(extra bonus points if you program it to stop accepting commands if it thinks it's being hacked)
Keeeeeestreeeeeel!!!!!! *tacklehugs* Where do you think you're going!? Staaaaay with us! :3
No, that's Val. It's her blog.
I'm Madame Mist.
KESSIE
HI
KES
NO LOVE FOR ME?? :(
Also, Moss, you were Madam Mist??? The costume is awesome! :D
Yoooo Tia!! I'm really angry with Derek rn so I'm trying to avoid things associated with him for mental health reasons, but Fabi-the-wonderful told me Eve was here and I haven't seen her in AGES so...
I'll be here for a little bit :D
What's up?
FABI
HI
HOW'S IT GOING
LAV I DIDN'T EVEN SEE YOU
*tacklehugs*
(oh my god, throwback to the Skulduggery Parties. Wow.)
OMG that's amazing Fabi! :3
Ohhh yeah, I've seen the pictures from it but didn't know you attended!
Hi Kas! It's nice to meet you :)
Ohhh of course, that sounds like something I would guess but I do remember it. :P
@Kes Aww, what's poor Derek done (Apart from that. And that. And Tanith's book. And those.) to hurt you???
KESSSIEEEE!!!!!! Hi!!!!! How are you??
Thank you, Lav! My mom and I made it together. :-)
I still have it because when Dugglyn and I meet IRL, we're going to have a Madame Mist-off. [nods]
@Kes That's understandable. Do what you need to do.
KES
I ONLY HAVE ONE HOUR OF DANCE TODAY RATHER THAN FIVE
SO MY FEET KINDA GET A BREAK
*is tacklehugged*
Well maybe it's the profile pic.
*nodsnods*
*blames the pic*
BUT HI KES!!! HOW'VE YOU BEEN?
And how about throwback to three/four years ago? XD
I AM NOT A ROBOT YOU -insert clever insult here because my mind is drawing a blank right now-!!!
@Fabi OMG you all look amazing there c:
Eve, nice to meet you, too! :)
@Lav Try "beetle-headed child of a half-cooked omelette." [nods]
@Tia: Well. Um. This involves spoilers from Desolation so, like, you've been warned.
We've got extreme use of the predatory lesbian trope, sexualizing a lesbian relationship between a sixteen year old and an at-least-twenty-year-old (which is ILLEGAL as well as fucked up), showing an emotionally abusive relationship as totally fine, and refusing to acknowledge anyone who's trying to educate him on why all of the above is bad. Except Becky. He responded to Becky in order to tell her she was overreacting. Basically, I'm fucking tired of my queerness being shown as negative and inherently predatory and sexual, and I'm tired of people whom I trusted and respected (Derek) exploiting us.
EEEEEEEVEEEEEE: I am GOOD how are YOU?
LAV: I'd say it's more that I didn't bother seeing who was here before I came in, but. Sure. Let's blame the profile pic. *nods*
Seriously though I can't believe the last of those was three years ago. Damn. I've been really good lately how about you?
FABI: NICE how'd that happen?
@Kes Haven't started that book yet (EEEVEEE) but that does sound pretty bad. Maybe it's meant to sound bad? I mean, there are a lot of bad characters in Derek's books???
Becky???
Tia: Nah, pal, it's the main relationship, and he's defended it (in a DM to Becky.). I'm still gonna read American Monsters just in case, but. Ugh.
Tia: Becky (@shitnerd on Twitter) used to be one of the, like, big name fans I guess? If that makes sense? She and Derek were friends-ish and she went to all the signings and ran(runs?) the Facebook page.
There's a relationship in Desolation? Spoilers? Do I have to read the book now?
AH ok I know that Becky I just wondered if I forgot something since I only read Demon Road in September and don't remember it that well :/
I mentioned that I lived in the Seattle area and she invited me?
... And that's why I'm not going to read the Demon Road trilogy. I've heard enough on Twitter and stuff. I don't need to subject myself to that.
@Tia: I did...warn for spoilers...But idk. If you read it, borrow it instead of buying it, if you can.
@Everyone: Sorry about this, I wasn't even planning to bring it up but. Uh. I Am Full Of Anger And It Can Not Be Contained
Kas-- you want spoilers, take it to email.
I'm presuming the lack of spoiler post is because Derek doesn't want a spot for all the "Dude, this is unacceptable" comments.
:/
What went wrong? Skulduggery Pleasant was such a good series. And Demon Road, I didn't really like, and now this... Is it really that bad? Will I be as disappointed as you or Becky? :/
I'm great, Fabi! Wow, I wasn't expecting to have actual Real Lesbians in his book honestly haha. I wasn't a fan of Demon Road so I wasn't planning on reading this one, but maybe I should just to see what the deal is. I know he's trying to support the LGBT readers, and we've seen it late in Skulduggery, but yeah I'm not sure if his efforts can be praised as they are now, you know? The whole thing with the Scapegrace and Thrasher body-swap was really weird, but obvious. I'd have to see for myself how the relationship you're speaking of plays out in the book...
*hugs Kes*
Then, if you're avoiding all things Derek, can I have your email? I'd like to talk with you sometimes. Cause I miss you.
*mutters to the Robots*
Beetle-headed children of a half cooked omelette. -_-
@Kes: I've been good. Would be better if the robots stopped attacking my iPod. And I can't believe it either. Slow and fast. *nodsnods, talking about something she'd already said previously*
@Kes I went to London for Desolation signing and met Derek for the first time so I have Desolation already.
@Fabi: Yeah, that's what I'm guessing, too. I mean, I HOPE he's better than that and that he's just really busy but.
@Tia: I know, I loved SP so so so so so much and I really liked Demon Road too? And I don't know. Becky and I and others are mostly hurt because, hey, we're the demographic being stereotyped and sexualized and exploited. But.
*mumbles*
Didn't read Deamon Road, but I'll obviously like the SP books way better.
*nodsnods*
*still hasn't read the last three though*
*also curses for being utterly slow in the comments*
Is it at least in character? I mean, you know, it IS a horror story.
@Eve: Yeah, I know, right? Actual Real Lesbians. It's a miracle. Yeah, I get that.
@Lav: Yeah, of course! It's kestrellestarre@gmail.com. I miss you too :(
Damn robots. Always coming in and attacking things.
@Tia: Oh, okay. Yeah, you might as well read it, if you want to. For all I know I'm overreacting and it's actually really good.
Sorry to come in and kill the mood lmao.
Because honestly Amber doesn't feel in character all the time in Demon Road, which is something that I never felt in SP.
@Tia: I haven't finished yet.
Mmm
All of my spare time is taken up by EVE Online, playing with friiiiends.
But I will make some time and read it by Sunday.
Then again, I want to read the Demon Road again, that's why I never started with Desolation. :/
@Tia: Yeah, I...agree. And I guess some of that has to do with learning to write a new main character after eight years with Val, but, yeah.
Anyway, having come in and derailed the conversation and started the Discourse, I now have to go because I'm going out with my grandparents. I love and miss all of you (even those I don't particularly like)(that's a joke)(I like you all) and please please please email me. Peace
Hey Kes, obviously you don't have to do this, but if you have the time could you possibly email me about what the relationship is in this book? I've just decided I'm not going to read the book but I'd still like to know what's going on with that part at least. I'm not sure if spoilers are appropriate here but I'd like them :P
My email: evej@outlook.com
*thanks Kes, and will like to add that she didn't kill the mood*
*however, due to the robots, I'm deciding to just ghost for a bit*
*sorry*
Lol nevermind. Bye Kessie!!! It was great seeing you <3
Bai, Kes!
And, please email me, too, same as Eve? I wanna know since it'll be over a week since I can get to Desolation.
*bye Kes*
*hugshhugshugs*
*will email sometimes*
(apparently conversing about Derek Landy's novels on Derek Landy's blog is derailing the conversation hahahahahah)
But yeah, Amber was the problem I had with Demon Road. Boring and annoying at times. And there was another older man/younger girl relationship. Like, we're starting THAT again? Anyway, I just didn't feel attached to anyone by the end and he killed all the characters who had potential to be liked.
Yeah.... whatshisname was really just another shot at a Skulduggery....he's a good guy with a dark past and he's also super powerful and loves his car....the throwback no one asked for
I emailed both of you the link to a very detailed review that talks about what's wrong with Desolation.
Thank you Fabi!!! Kess said she'd email too when she finishes reading, but I have a feeling all our opinions are going to be basically the same.
You're making me want to read the books now, why would you do this to me?
Okay, will read ASAP to see what's what and judge it then.
COMMENT NOT POSTING PURGE PURGE PURGE EXTERMINATUS
It's the robots :/
Bump
Yeah...
Just yeah...
I probably need to get breakfast now.
Wbd/msd.

*wishes the robots would leave*
*remembers something*

Oh, for fuck's sake.....
Just read the review. Definitely not reading the book. I'm reminded of when everyone was badgering Derek about Skulduggery: 'We're all older now! You can make it as bad as you want, just bump up the age restriction!!'
I guess this is what happens when Derek isn't writing for younger groups. And the sad thing is, while I'm horrified by the stuff detailed in that review, it's not even surprising when you think about it. This is Landy's taste. I'm so off it...
Right I wasn't planning on reading the books unless it sort of happened sometime but I've decided that I simply MUST now so I can argue with you about it. :P
I might disappear.
Ooh, do you have headphones or earphones, Hope?
^by "you" I mean "people" abd by "argue" I mean "debate"
And I think Lizzie says "dude" either because of her brother or because of Supernatural or because of being fairly American (for a Brit) or because of some similar reason or because of some combination thereof.
And hear, hear. :)
*wanders off to check the price of demon road on Google Play*
Hey, Star!
Yeah, I... decided I'd rather read the book and see what's what. I'll skip the Demon Road re-read.
@Hope I have a video full of people getting angry at each other in EVE, and a video of TEST Alliance's Fleet Commander in action. I'm not sure which video is worse.
I was actually hoping Amber would be written as gay in the first one (that is until I discovered she had no personality)...careful what you wish for, right? This is awful. But it's common among pop YA writers, isn't it? You either forget queers exist or you fuck it up. We need more gay editors, I think.
Obviously not the only thing I see wrong with the novel, but Landy might be making it personal there.
*discovers I can't do that on school wifi and wanders back*
Hear hear, Fabi! That's some interesting formatting...
I have earphones. Why, Kas?
*might also not read the Demon Road trilogy for the fact that I want Derek to remain a good author in my eyes*
*someone who adds cameos of his fans in the books*
*waves to Star*
I honestly can't judge the book until I've read it. I imagine when I read it I'll either be angry at Kes, angry at Landy, or sigh and be like "what are life".
Hi Star! Yeah the only thing tempting me to read it is so I have a better reason to hate the whole thing. XD
But it would be torture to read. Zaf sent me a review of it, which goes into a lot of detail, if you wanted to read that instead?
@Eve Derek's already finished Demon Road book 3, so we're either getting Skulduggery Pleasant: The Movie or a new book series that's hopefully better than Demon Road.
*has basically been unable to read any of that because of the spoilers..I remember when Val and I hung out. That video is still on YouTube
(EVE! It is Chloe G here!)
Normally I'd have the same 'don't judge until you read' attitude, but particular things....not something that can be interpreted too differently by others.
*misses more comments due to lateness*
Also, hear hear, Moss. :)
*might have to check videos later, Kas, if you're planning to send me links*
*might also head out early cause blogger is being annoying*
-_-
@Hope Because swearing in both the videos I'm considering linking.
Hello, Chloe!
Kas: Yes, really needing that SP movie right now. God damn we've been waiting long.
CHLOE G!!!! *hugssss* Hi!!
@Eve: No, I'd rather read the book itself. Might take me a while though. I've got my AS exams in three weeks so I'm a bit up to my ears.
I want to read Fifty Shades for the same reason but I haven't because revision. Also because I'd have to like give money to the author and myeh do I want to do that? XD
