Ladies and gentlemen...
When I start writing Book 9, I had a title in mind. And it was a good title. It was a glorious title. It echoed a phrase we'd already seen in the books themselves, and it was cool, and haunting, and awesome...
But for some reason, it wasn't a "Final Book" title.
I don't know why. Some titles suit the last book of a series. Some suit the first. This title — my lovely, glorious title — suited the first.
I'm not going to tell you what it was, because I do plan to use it at some stage — and I never let a good idea go to waste.
But suddenly I had a problem. I needed a new title.
I needed a new title that sounded like a final book. I needed a new title that fit alongside Kingdom of the Wicked and Last Stand of Dead Men. I needed something almost... poetic.
And so I came up with this.

The title that he mentioned could be "Be Brave" which is a quote we all know. But it just wouldn't be right, as Dying of the Light is a far more accurate description of our favourite characters' futures.

Well I think Darquesse will kill Skulduggery and then enter the Accelerator (or the other way around - Skulduggery kills her and enters it) so the Accelerator, which is now glowing to blinding levels, will have its light killed.
If Darquesse or Valkyrie or her reflection kills Skulduggery, a random character (like the Zombie King or Vile's Armour) is free to enter it, meaning Valkyrie can have a good life OR still end the world afterwards.
Long stretch, but you never know:
And finally, if the alternate dimension returns, it could be possible that if Valkyrie from there would come to live in this dimension, giving sort of a happy ending.

Yeah, Zaf, it isn't aimed at you. At no point does he even mention your character. He refers to 'our favourite characters'. The post isn't about you, try to realise that. Pretty much everyone was being awful one way or another. The reference to our characters is just typical Derek humour, that has always been how he instils fear in us haha.
