Apologies for the lapse in communication. A lot of stuff has happened/is happening and it's hard to find the time to Blog and think about business stuff and writerly endeavours. That said, I'm still hurtling through Book 8- I think I've got a third of it done, which is good news.
Let's see... Okay, on February 20th I'll be in London as part of the Imagine Festival. I''m going to be talking about the movies that have influenced Skulduggery, and showing trailers/scenes as we go. Expect a LOT of awesome 80's movies. You can book your tickets now.
On the 7th of March I'll be at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Kildare, interviewing Alex Barclay on stage about her fantasy novel for younger readers, Curse of Kings. Alex writes some of my favourite crime novels, and she's also a very good friend of mine, and you'll be hearing a lot more from me about Curse of Kings in the next few weeks.
On the 9th of March, I'll be in Derry, the City of Culture, doing... something. For 600 people. So... there's that. Book now! If you can find out what I'm doing. Because I haven't a clue.
In April, for The Maleficent Seven release, I'll be in Dublin and Cork and Galway and Stratford and Milton Keynes and, ulp, Norwich. Where SHE lives.

Ah, then I'm not going to enter. I like using my own ideas, and making my own story basis. It would not work if I did the MC, because Dantè isn't an Adept or anything, he's his own evolutionary race, the bloodline continued and continued until two people with Heltron blood created Dantè.
Well, you could still join if you want, and make that your history- no one woud contradict you. Everyone's got their own subplot right now, and some of them are intersecting, but some people (like me until just last night) have been pretty much on their own this whole time. There are no real rules or anything (well, just a few basic guidelines about polite collaboration- they're basic, common sense things).
Pretty much everyone is just doing whatever they want- some are fighting with him, some against him- in a universe where Skul and Val don't exist and Mevolent is back.
That's a really cool history, though.
I don't know, I mean, I should really be focusing on Dantè Phyre at the moment. I haven't even started chapter one. That is GOING TO HAPPEN TOMORROW. Sorry, I need to remind myself that it is GOING TO HAPPEN TOMORROW.

Don't be sorry! I can understand not being able to manage both... I've been wriring and posting like a lunatic for MC and as a result I've only got two chapters up of my backstory on my blog. But it works for me because I already know the history (I'm putting some into MC), and I literally have the easiest job ever writing in charactr, since Aretha is literally me if I had magical powers. Our stories become different from age thirteen and on, but we're essentially the same person; same appearane, personality, etc.
I kind of really hope my family never reads MC, though...
I'm going to have to leave for school in, like, 10 minutes- I just popped on to say hi, because nobody else was here and because you're fun to talk to. I'll be back in, say... 7 hours? Quite possibly an hour before then, but I can't be sure. I'll see you, if you're still on!

As a fan of Skulduggery Pleasant, I felt I should write to you for advice (As well as other horror writers, I must admit.), helping me with a little problem regarding fictional vampires.
You see, I'm having trouble creating my own kind of vampire for my novel series; since all the best ones are taken (Including yours.) and that I absolutely want to steer clear AWAY from the current kind of vampire which is the sissy 'sexy' kind with big hair and trendy clothes (Twilight, Vampire Diaries, Vampire Academy, ect. The worst vampires ever.) I mean, I already have a picture perfect idea for the hunting form of my novel series' vampires, which is a sort of man sized eldritch albino bat with more Lovecraftian traits than bat traits.
However, I'm still having difficulty coming up with their humanoid form and all I came up with is the traditional traits (Such as pale skin and fangs, despite the fact I can't decide which kind of fang set.) and bulgy black orbs for eyes without pupils, similar to bat eyes. I don't want the humanoid form to be too simple and too normal. I want there to be some ghostly creepiness emitting from the form, along with some demonic or unearthly characteristics to make the humanoid form grotesque yet still a little bit human-like so it's not too similar to the hunting form.
So basically, to sum it up, I'm stuck and I need some ideas for the traits of the novel series' vampires, particularly their humanoid form. Do you have any ideas for vampiric traits? Just something that would help get started on coming up with more characteristic ideas on my own soon. I would definitely appreciate the help if you do offer anything at all. So will you reply with answers, please?
