First, let's get some bad news out of the way... errr... you're going to have to wait just a FEW more days for the Tanith cover...
(notmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfaultnotmyfault)
Ahem.
This probably won't make you feel ANY better about the delay, but it's looking amazing right now. We still have to get the colour just right (because this was an unplanned addition to the series, it's kind of thrown our title-colour scheme up into the air...) but it's looking beautiful. Tanith looks like a total BAMF.
Middle of next week. DEFINITELY.
Hopefully.
The good news is, I've finished writing it. I finished yesterday and sent it off. Right now, before the editing process begins, it is 54,000 words long. That's fifty-four THOUSAND.
It was MEANT to be roughly twice the size of The End Of The World, which came in at something like 17,000 words. So when I started I was looking at a quick 36,000 word novella that I'd bang out between the end of the KOTW tour and the beginning of writing Book 8, giving me loads of time to relax and take it easy.
And it was going fine, it really was. I had Tanith and Sanguine, and they'd recruited their team of villains, and the story was rattling along and everything was cool... and then I introduced a team of good guys as well. So we have Dexter Vex and Frightening Jones and a few new characters, including the Monster Hunters (two guys I've been trying to find a place for in the regular books) and Saracen Rue. Saracen is the only surviving member of the Dead Men that we haven't met yet, and it was just so much fun writing them all that the word count kind of... ran off, dragging me behind it.
It was MEANT to be a little sliver of a book. Now it's practically two-thirds the length of Book One.
The things I do for you people, I swear...
The "Can Your School Get More Awesome?" competition is still going strong over at the Skulduggery website. The ingenuity on display is something to behold, with many of you using both social AND mainstream media (local papers, radio stations) to garner as many votes as possible. Have to say, I'm impressed at the imagination being displayed- there are some real smart cookies out there. There a few schools that are practically guaranteed to be in the top ten, there are plenty more who have established themselves as challengers, and then there are the schools with only a few votes. And to the people who put forward THOSE schools, I have to ask- how does it feel to be so utterly cool? How does it feel to be the only one in your area with enough good taste to vote? You are shining lights, you truly are.
I'm just looking at some of the photos... I love that the Bishopston school in Swansea and Heathcote School and a few others have sent us photos of the school crest- I have no idea how Tom would have drawn Skulduggery in THOSE photos but it would have been fun to see him try...
And St Annes in Shankill, who supplied an arial view... Dammit, if this had been voted for, Tom could have drawn Valkyrie plummeting from the sky and Skulduggery swooping in to save her. Argh! The potential for coolness would have been astronomical!
Let's see, what else... Skulduggery and Val would have looked awesome in the corridor of Holy Family Senior School in Ennis... and they have skeletons in St Matthews!... imagine Val abseiling down the side of Carterton Community College... or Skulduggery walking up the stairs of Selly Park Technology College for Girls... the dogs in Gabbinbar State School in Toowoomba (you don't have to look up Toowoomba to know it's in Australia, do you?) would have been able to chew on poor Skulduggery's leg... awww and I've just seen the picture from Invicta Grammar School with all the girls in army fatigues- I'd have loved to have visited there... I'm pretty sure that's a picture of Camilla visiting Brookside Primary School- so Val would have looked pretty cheeky pulling a face behind her back... and she would have fit right in with the girls from Oakmeeds Community College... Skulduggery would have been so proud to stand in amongst everyone in Scarborough College... then we have Skulduggery himself in Brentwood Ursuline Convent HS... and I'd have loved to have visited Hitchin Girls School, if only so I could have made a load of jokes about hitchin' girls...
Voting is still going on, so you've all got plenty of time left. Once we have the top ten, it'll be up to me to pick the photo that would lead to the best Skulduggery pic and then we'll have our winner. But the effort all of you have gone to is just hilariously impressive...

((Ari: Yeah, I thought it was, too. *sigh* Ah well.
I know the feeling, Moss.
My little bother loves ski ball, Anni! If we ever meet, we'll have to go play together. :) ))

. . . *softly* I'm sure I will.
Thank you, Niccolo.
Waiter: *brings the check*
Thank you, Niccolo.
Waiter: *nods*
My compliments to the chef.
Waiter: *enters the kitchen*
*he can distantly be heard saying:*
Table 5 enjoyed your cooking, Niccolo.
((Ari: See, I'm really so happy that I have Krav, because not only am I totally capable of defending myself- I've found that I can write fights out a lot easier. I wish I knew more about a lot of other things- knife throwing, instrument playing, speaking different languages... But, you know, I can't know everything. Actually, I can't know anything.))
#ChaseForBook9
(Ah, that would be such good fun!
I do hope I get the chance to meet one of you one day.
I hope.)
Javier: That doesn't do much to her. It gives her more time with her family.
Ravel: May I intervene, Elder Tesla?
(I'm not sure I know much of that sort of thing. I know all about fencing and swordplay, of course, and my closest friends are on rifle squads so they teach me about guns, but I know next to nothing about hand-to-hand combat.)
((Yeah, I started taking Hapkido this year. But while it's probably/definitely a better fit for my personality and my mom than something like Krav Maga would be, at least the first year of it isn't helping me write fight scenes.))
(I don't know if I'm good at writing fight scenes. No one's ever told me. I am, however, very good at writing scenes where gentlemen beat other gentlemen into pulp.)
(I'm better with languages and often acting is more my thing, I've done a fight scene before but I am horrid at writing them, which is why often when I fight one of Ari's characters I have trouble reacting so I often try to use the magic my characters have to fight
(I'm not terrific at languages. I speak Spanish and Latin, but I'm not confident enough in Latin to write it, and I'm fairly limited when it comes to Spanish.)
((Ari: I went to a gun range once, and shot a glock and an ak-47, and I'm not a terrible shot, but that was only once. And I can shoot a bow, but I'm not an expert in that either. I took fencing for two years, but that was only two years, so I'm no expert in that, either, even though I really wish I could take it up again. *sigh* I suppose we all have our own areas of expertise.
OH MY GOSH. "ALL ITALIANS ARE NAMED NICCOLO!" Someone is going to wonder why I'm laughing.
Something else- half the time, when I type Niccolo, the only options I get from autocorrect are "Nicole" and "Piccolo".))
Ari: *sighs with relief* Yes, of course, thank you. I'll just start with the paperwork.
Niccolò: *pays and leaves the check on the table* Anytime. Shall we go, then, or would you rather enjoy the city for a while longer?
#ChaseForBook9
*swallows*
If it's all the same to you, take me back to the Midnight Hotel.
I'm supposed to meet Photo there in an hour.
Ravel: I hate to do this to you, Zaf, but perhaps we can have it so that her duties are elsewhere from the work the Grand Mage would do? Her title would be the same but for a period of time her duties differ? Something someone of lower rank would have to do.
((Ari: Krav just gives me a really nice mentality, I guess. Like, you never ever only throw one strike and then stop- if you're moving to hit someone, you should have at least your next three hits planned out- and I know techniques for dealing with sticks and knives and guns and chokes and bear hugs and all sorts of things like that, so it's easier for me to write- I don't have to wonder how best to react.
I don't think I've really read any fight scenes from you, Anni, except for that time with the werellamas and when Oscar met Gary. And those were both more monstery/magical than anything else, I think, but they were certainly fun to read.
I can speak spanish, and write in it, but I'm not fluent, and I don't know a third language, so. Eh. *Shrugs*))
#ChaseForBook9
((I speak a bit of French, but I have a tendency to freeze up...))
((Ari: *shoot an arrow with a bow, sorry. And I'm just ranting at this point- please feel free to ignore me.))
Niccolò: Certainly. *gets up and offers her a hand* I would merely suggest that we leave this restaurant, in order to avoid any confusion that may arise from the two of us disappearing in plain sight.
#ChaseForBook9
I agree.
*follows him out the door*

I LOVE YOU.)

(Aretha, if Star sees that, you know Hunter will.
I'd like to make a prediction that Star might have a small rant tomorrow from him.
Or, since I'm making this prediction, I might be changing the future! And maybe she won't!
And now, she's probably confused and laughing or something.
I don't blame her.

((I've done a workshop in Eastern-style swordplay, but it was years ago... And then a few months of Hapkido.))
((I've played a piccolo before, though. It was hard. I'm better with low notes than high. I want to learn the alto flute sometime))
((Ari: OF COURSE I REMEMBER THAT YOU WROTE ABOUT WERELLAMAS! HOW COULD I FORGET A THING LIKE THAT?! I used to keep records of such things, you know... *Sighs* but that blog has sputtered and not-quite-died. I used to have to update it every five minutes.))

((Okay, I know how this is going to work now...))
(Omg lets make Niccolò a life sized Ken doll)
(Hullo, Star!)
((Ari: Haha! We know you too well, Star. *hugs*))

*feels a bit dizzy*
*and wobbly-legged*
Th-thank you.
And thank you for paying for dinner.
I'm just . . .
*dizzily toddles off*
I'm just going to go have a lie-down . . .
(Well, I need to go as well, so . . .)
Ravel: I don't know how it would work here in America. Elder Tesla can decide that one.
*silent, shaking with anger at Jay* Nobody can actually do anything to me.
Ravel: Actually I can. Remember you're Irish-born, Zaf. If Aretha wanted she could easily have the Irish Council deal with this, and you know how much harsher things are in a Cradle.
(Will you be back after shoveling, Ari?
Niccolò: Anytime. Do look after yourself, Ms. Precocious. *vanishes*
((Ari: Ok, I think I'll go now. Back in a bit.))
#ChaseForBook9

*to dream*
(Alrght then. Okay.
*stalks off to my own office*
Ravel: *doesn't follow* I'll let her calm down before talking to her.
Aro: *sees* Mom?
Hey, Aro.
Aro: I'm working with Lexi now. I'm staying here but I'm actually doing things.
I need to do homework, but I'd rather write.
I think I might write out the memories which would lead Hunter to disagree with Ari.
Perhaps.
#ChaseForBookNine
@Ari: Yup. :P
@Annika: How could we forget? :P
Not really here, sorry.

*the door swings open*
*sits up in bed*
*and shrieks in shock*
Oscar: Honey?
I'm home!
*strolls in*
*right as rain*
*and smiles*
*leaps out of bed and runs to hug him*
OSCAR!
I don't understand! How . . . how . . .
*her arms wrap around him*
*and he smiles*
*and vanishes in a splattering of shadows*
Hassle: Not not not
Gonna be that easy now IS IT?
*screams*
*falls on her arse*
*as shadows whip around her*
*curling across the ceiling*
*and collecting in Hassle Precocious's hands*
*forming a long black duster*
Hassle: Ehehehheheheheheh.

URGH!
*tries to move*
*but can't*
*it's as if she's tied up*

*his face twisted in a mocking snarl*
*and he turns*
*and runs*
*and leaves her there*

Hershel, I can't move! I CAN'T MOVE!
Hassle: What a pity

let the fire rain down from the heavens!
*raises his arms and laughs*
*the falling bombs reflected in his black eyes*
*struggles*
*she's tied down*
*captive*

*takes a deep breath*
*and sits back down on the bed*
It was just a dream . . . just a dream . . .
*stands up again*
*paces for a moment*
*goes to the bathroom to wash up*
Just a dream . . . just a dream . . .
*bows her head in front of the sink*
*washes her face*
*looks up*
*at the mirror*
*and screams, pinwheeling backwards into the shower*
Words in Blood on Mirror: SAVE THE DATE FOR THIS HAPPY OCCASION.
*there is a picture taped to the mirror*
*a full-color polaroid this time*
*begins to sob*
Anton: *bangs open the door to her room*
Really, this has gone on long enough!
Hey---
Would any of you mind if Fabi appeared to ask you a favor? A rather odd one?
It'll be after the next bit I'm writing, but I thought I'd give you a heads-up. And I can, of course, strategically pick a less inconvenient time for you.
(Well all my chars except Liv and Lexi and Christopher are in the Sanctuary...
Anton: *storms into the bathroom*
What-
. . . ah.
*sobbing uncontrollably*
*in the shower*
Anton: *looks concerned at this*
Is this . . . um . . . some sort of . . . feminine issue?
*points shakily at the bathroom mirror*
Anton: *sees the picture*
*eyes widen*
*looks back at Precocious*
What . . .
*swallows*
Is there anything I can do?
*chokes* I know I should've moved out long ago . . .
But please, give me a day or two more . . . before you kick me out . . .
Anton: *sighs heavily*
*helps her up off the bathroom floor*
Miss Precocious,
the Midnight Hotel would be a far less interesting place without you around.
I don't intend to evict you anytime soon.
Th-thank you . . .
Anton: Now, you need to rest.
In a different room, I think. But this out of your mind.
I can't . . .
I just can't . . .
Anton: Yes, you can. Trust me.
Mr. Armitage will be back from Russia in no time.
*he guides her out the door*
*which swings shut behind them*
THE END
(I'm afraid I must depart . . .)
((Well... Fabi would probably be more likely to appear in Blogland. I suppose there's no reason she couldn't ask Alexis...))
Hi!
(Sure Fabi. You can ask Alexis
Howdy everyone!
Hai Em
*She wakes up after a short nap and smiles, eating some applesauce*
((ANNIKA HOW COULD YOU BETRAY ME LIKE THIS?
I THOUGHT
I THOUGHT
[buries head in handkerchief and collapses in tears]
[the music box bit from "You Could be Happy" echoes through Blogland]
Goodbye, Annika.
[Final tear streams down face]
[Turns and walks away, not looking back]
[Isn't as good at dramatic farewells. :-P]))
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I'm just copying and pasting the French I wrote all the way back at the beginning of the year, because we wrote our writing then we wrote out speaking then we did our speaking assessment (you know, the one I will have FAILED ohmygosh I did so badly XD) and now we're doing our writing assessment and ANYWAY I'm reading that I wrote that I baked a cake with Fabi and I'm like AHHHH I REMEMBER THAT!!!
#ChaseForBookNine
@Lantern: You are. :P
*laughsness* XD
#ChaseForBookNine
Alexis: *sits outside in the snow* Will I get to see Nic or will he dash off to help Adra? *sighs*
Oh! Hello Star, Fabi, Em, Zaf, (and whoever might else I may have missed)..
Thanks, Zaf. I love passive aggressiveness!!! :DDD
Hi Adra! :)
*points upwards to the first comment I made when I came on*
You know me too well. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
I do, Star :P That's why I said it
*Lorcan sprinkles snow over Alexis*
Lorcan: Cheer up chuck. There's a lot going on at the moment. Plus who needs Nic when you have me *he flashes a cheeky smile*
I remember baking that cake.
Best cake I've ever eaten.
Alexis: *laughs* Thanks! I do like you. *kisses cheek*
@Adra: XD Yup.
*watching, everyone :)*
@Lantern: It looked amazing. :)
I can't comment on the taste, because like . . . *points to virtual-ness of blogself*
#ChaseForBookNine
*A small portal forms, and her bag is thrown through it, hitting the floor*
*She unzips it, finds her Philosopher's stone, and puts it in*
*Sighs, making herself something to eat in the kitchen, and going back to her room*
*She sits on her bed, eating*
((Ari: Did you, by any chance, open the fridge while you prepared food? *maniacal laughter* Ohmygosh, this is going to be so much fun. Adra gets to see all the weird shenanigans Niccolò and I get up to in this house. XD))
#Chaseforbook9
I apologize, I'm going to have to go soon- lunch is pretty short today...
-
*She props herself up against a bunch of pillows with a book, fairly relaxed, focusing solely on the book*
*The tiny hum an in her belly moves again and she smiles(
((Ari: We're back, by the way. *greets and hugs everyone*))
#ChaseForBook9
(I just put food because I don't recall what Nic had said was in there.
There aren't, like, severed heads or anything, are there?)
((Oh dear...))
((Okay Adra :-/ ))
((Hi again, Ari and Niccolò. :-) ))
(Omg can Lexi and Liv go pester well not pester but can they go visit Nic?
((Ari: No, but Niccolò was in there. He shrunk himself so he's about as tall as a milk carton and is just pacing around in there with his eyes closed.))
#ChaseForBook9
*She puts the book down, looking down at her stomach* Jesus, this isn't the Olympics, you can slow down a bit..
*She begins to hum, pulling out a sketch pad and working on a dress that she had an idea for*
WHAT THE HELL ARETHA.
(WHAT THE HELL ARETHA?
GOD DAMMIT
((...))
((Ari: You are going to be the most fun house guest ever. XD
Well, Niccolò is in the fridge, but they can catch me on my way home, if they want.))
Ari: *strolls through Blogland, on her way to a portal*
#ChaseForBook9
*laughs* XD
#ChaseForBookNine
Lorcan: I wonder how my mam is doing today, I dunno if anyone has seen her.
Did Livvy show your mam the angel??
Alexis: Ari!
Olivia: Ari Ari!!!! *pokes* Can we go see Nic?
((Pretend Fabi hasn't appeared yet. This seems to be a bad time.))
Alexis: No. Mom hasn't been home yet.
Fabi, I would, but I have to go soon, so I can't get into it. :/ I'm sorry
-
*She puts her hand on her belly and giggles again*
Gracious...
*Moves to a mirror instead and braids her hair so it falls over her shoulder*
((It's alright. It'll probably be better once I've written the context, anyway.))
*And, once she's finished, she puts her hair down, the strands smooth like silk, and pulls out her sketchpad again, and a few pencils as she carefully and concisely colors in her drawing*
Msd..
((Okay [hugs]))
*paces office irritated as anything*
Ravel: *goes to* Zaf come here. You know I can't actually do anyrhing against you.
Point? I don't need this. I really and truly don't.
Ravel: You knew Jay would get you back. He's got 3 more months to plot, you best hope to not get inmore trouble.
At this point Trip will get involved. And then what?
My mom wrote "skip" above a section of my geography workbook she didn't think I needed to do, and I keep seeing it and reading it as "ship."
(Haha. Oh yeah you just have workbooks. Not sure how interesting it'd be to be given a workbook and told to do pages all day.
(Ari? )
@Lantern: :)
((I don't just have workbooks. I also have videos, audio files, and online quizzes. And I also have writing assignments and projects like the time I had to make a video on Pompeii, or my history fair performance last year. Besides that, I go to a co-op for things like art and drama.))
((Please don't assume things about homeschooling. There probably are families out there who do solely workbooks, but part of the whole point is that it's different for everyone and you can do what works with your learning style.))
((But that's why I didn't mention the fact that I was homeschooled, is because people fill in the blanks however their brain thinks they ought to be filled. I had a friend who assumed I just sat around all day, and for awhile, Emily thought I was homeschooled because I'm some sort of genius person. Other people have assumed there's something "wrong" with me. And I don't like that. So please, just don't.))
My mum said that today she was speaking to some women from the Congo (work, you know), and she asked them if she liked living in Britain, and they said yes, and she asked them why, and the thing they most liked was that it was peaceful here and there was no war, and the thing they next liked was that women had power here, and didn't have to do all the work . . .
And they were saying that they didn't know how to teach their husbands and sons that they had to do work.
#ChaseForBookNine
@Lantern: :)
*hugs*

My brother said that my mum should show them Candy Crush. XD
#ChaseForBookNine
(Its just not exactly what I know...sorry. I'm in public school and have been since pre-school.
I've always been public school.
My mum doesn't believe in private schools.
For one thing, she believes you have to learn to work with lots of different types of people, and that's just as important as getting a good education.
And secondly, she once mentioned that . . . well, I was saying that some people were less academically intelligent, but they got so much help and tutoring that they got the same grades as people who were pretty much on their own but were much academically smarter (actually, I'm pretty sure I was also having a big rant about how some people just had no opportunity because they came from a bad family and how much better they could have done if they'd been in the correct environment and how you had several of the country's best table-tennis players all coming from the same area and having lived on the same road when they grew up because there was a 24 hour table-tennis club and a teacher at the school who was a former champion and taught them al to play table tennis and blah and blah and how they'd all been doing table tennis from a young age and blah, and how we got told this in an assembly with the message that there was no talent, only practise, and what a CRAP assembly it was because it basically told us that anything we wanted to do, we were too late, because we hadn't been doing it all our lives so we'd missed the opportunity, and also, have you ever noticed how little you can do once you're our age? I can't start doing anything, because everyone else will have been doing it for years since primary, and since I didn't do anything then, I feel like I'm just sort of stuck, ALTHOUGH there isn't much I would end up doing anyway, but . . . it's sad, really. I'm bad at sport, and I know that if I put my mind to it I could be good at sport, but I've been bad at sport all my life and so now I am just bad at sport, and that's the way it is. *shrugs* And I know that I could probably really enjoy playing football or netball or something if I got into it, but everyone else who's into it has been playing for years and is on a team, and stuff, and how would a teenager decide to play a sport like that without joining a team? And how can I join a team, when I'm no good at it? But how can I get good at it without joining something? And anyway, like I said I would probably never do anything anyway, but yeah. *realises I've rambled* *closes bracket*). And she said that "exactly", and you had less-smart people going to these top private schools and getting taught really well and so people thought they were fit to run the country, but they didn't actually have the natural intelligence required to run the country.
You know, someone said once that when they did elections, there should be an option that said "none of them", and if enough people picked that, they would know they were doing something wrong.
It sounds like quite a good idea.
#ChaseForBookNine
(Today is quiet. I'd be watching a movie but its freezing in the room with a free DVD player and Tv
I've always been homeschooled, and I don't particularly feel the need to justify it.
And if I may just post the lyrics to a song called Staring at the Stars by Passenger:
Tobacco stains our yellow teeth
And all our fingers and underneath
Our fingernails that clasp on sheets
As we try desperately to sleep
Hearts are sad and eyes are tired
And all this red bull keeps us wired
It gives us wings
It gives us rings around our eyes
We put three sugars in our tea
Sit to watch day time TV
And laugh at mums who don’t know who the father is
And all our girlfriends are long gone
We watch too much internet porn
Who needs love when you’ve got silicone and strap ons
Beer bloats our spoilt guts
And shit jobs keep us in ruts
And keep us eyeing up the whats and ifs and buts and maybes and
Falling over in the street
Is just a part of every week
And we lie drunkenly just staring at the stars
Remember when they were in reach
And all the teachers used to teach
You can do anything if you put your mind to it
We put our minds to it all
But disappointment crashed the ball
We could’ve done anything
We just never quite knew it, so
Tie your scarf on tight
It's to be a cold night
Tie your scarf on tight
It's to be a cold night
Tie your scarf on tight
It's to be a cold night
Tie your scarf on tight
It's to be a cold night
So tie your scarf on tight
It's to be a cold night
Tie your scarf on tight

*well almost always.
There have been a couple years when I've been to public schools.
...
My fourth grade teachers didn't know what to do with me, tbh.
@Lantern: *hugs*
I think there are positives and negatives to being homeschooled, and to going to a public school, and to going to a private school, just as there are positives and negatives to life.
*shrugs*
#ChaseForBookNine
The only kids I know to be homeschooled- one is homebound and cant go to school for health reasons and the other seriously would be a problem child and the parents arent exactly normal. So therefore he isn't normal and his siblings all go to privaye school but still he really would not flourish, at all.
Normal doesn't exist. But I know what you mean. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
I know people who homeschool for religious reasons
I know people who homeschool because they have overprotective parents
I know people who homeschool to focus on something like music or dance
I know people who homeschool because they have special needs
I know people who homeschool because they're geniuses and they'd be lost in public school
I know people who homeschool because they can never really be confident that they'll be able to stay in one place
I know people who homeschool because they/their parents think public schools are rubbish
I know people who homeschool for health reasons
I know people who homeschool because their moms want to be more part of the way they grow up
Yeah but anyway. Ok Ari vanished.
*is pacing in the treehouse now, upset*
Ravel: Zaf....*kisses cheek* you can spend time with me. You know you love it.
Not like this. Not at all! *is shaking*
Sorry about all the rants.
Not sure if I'm really here now, bio.
*watching, Zaf :)*
I, on the other hand, only know people on here who are homeschooled.
Then again, I am very antisocial. I really only know people from school and here, and if I know them from school, they're clearly NOT homeschooled. :P
But, yes, Lantern. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Fabi what grade would you be in if you went into public school?
Ravel: *sighs* Come we can go out to eat. You need to relax.
I don't think I can. I can't stand this! I have things to do war wise!
Ravel: Zaf! You're lucky you didn't get arrested! Javier and Jay did. And you have Aro back. He's safe.
(Unless they ARE homeschooled. Homeschooled to be spies. And they are spying on us, and going in disguise as a public-school student.
Or something like that.)
#ChaseForBookNine
Tenth.
Actually, there are some rules about homeschoolers transferring, so I would probably have to either go back to ninth grade or take classes at my level, but not graduate. It stinks.
If I'd taken public school my whole life, though, I'd be in tenth grade.
Riiiight.
You do understand that schoolchildren would make poor targets for anything involving espionage?
It's not the same. *is holding back tears of frustration*
Ravel: *puts down the files and just holds her close* Hush. Shhh. Zaffy....*smiles*
*In England*
Ode: Hyde....how do you manage to cause trouble whenever you get out?
Hyde: I do. I don't want to go back in.
Ode: I told you, you must if you are in trouble. That is the rule.
(Omg I'd be so mad if I had to go back a grade. So what happens once you finish 12th? How do you graduate?)
((Well, I'm going to a program called Running Start for 11th and 12th grade, and taking classes at a community college, so I would have to do well on my classes there, and Mom's keeping a transcript for all the work I do.))
((I'm taking the SAT at a school, same as the PSAT.))
((I'm almost definitely not getting any kind of graduation ceremony or anything. I don't really know, though))
((But yeah. Hopefully that answers all your questions.))
@Lantern: How do I know they realise that? :P
#ChaseForBookNine
(Ah. Okay. I was curious if you just like got any form of diploma)
((Well, if they passed spy-training, they'd have to be at least mildly intelligent. One would hope.))
@Lantern: Well, maybe they haven't passed it yet. :P
And maybe they aren't mildly intelligent.
And maybe they aren't very good spies.
#ChaseForBookNine
Aro: Alexis!
Alexis: Hello.
Aro: I guess we have something in common.
Alexis: Definetly. What's up?
Aro: Well I'm free and safe and hopefully Aretha will hire me after the war.
Alexis: *hugs* I'm glad to have an older brother well...wait how are you 17?
Aro: I'm turning 18 soon, I'm two years older.
Alexis: ah. Okay.
Aro: I'm not used to this world...Mom has helped me and I have a phone now. And she promised to help me catch up in schoolwork but I mean I'm up to date from where I was for so long...I just knew I was free.
My sister just said she prefers Harry Potter to Skulduggery Pleasant. *looks sad*
#ChaseForBookNine
Fun fact: If you take the Ps out of HP and SP, you're left with H and S, which are the initials for my first given name and first taken name. :)
#ChaseFOrBookNine
((There are tests you can take for an official diploma, or your parents can make one, depending on the law in your state. Some homeschool programs offer diplomas as well, though not one that I'm in.))
I like SP and HP, SP is more insane. Derek made sure to screw up emotions
And he's fallen from the earth again. I do not wanna know what he's planning probably writing
((Yowch. I was looking up homeschool graduation, to see what's considered normal, and some people are...ignorant.))
I like both of them. :)
It's ages since I've read HP, though, so I can't give a valid opinion.
I really should put them on my list of books to reread now I'm older.
You change so much within a few years . . .
#ChaseForBookNine
@Lantern: :/
#ChaseForBookNine
Hello?
Gtg, bye.
Hi...
Bye Moss!
Hi Zaffy! How are you?
I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DID MY 16x16 SUDOKU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*is thankfully glad I no longer have to look at it*
#ChaseForBookNine
Fours, Lantern! :(
Hi Rhydian! :)
I HAVE BEEN DOING THAT FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey Star! How are you? Good for you! :)
Thanks! :)
I'm good, thanks. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
How are you? :)
#ChaseForBookNine
I'm okay I guess
LOOK AT IT.
IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL.
#ChaseForBookNine
I'm good Starry :) just drained. Again. School is clearly not good for me :P
Sup Zaf?
@Rhydian: Aw. :(
Never mind. :) Half term in a few weeks . . .
And - is that Adra's calligraphy thing?
#ChaseForBookNine
Yes it is
*smiles* not much just been home all day with a snow day
I just am smiling at the ideas I have
Hey if I wrote some of Aro's history would anyone read it? Half my work nbody does anyway so
I'll read it Zaf. But first - Who's Aro? Your writing is always good :)
Hello!
ITS FUCKING COLD
He's Zaf's son. He's from Mevolent's dimension but he told us the truth and he was really the child Zaf lost in MC
I'm gonna write
Okie dokie then :)
Ah. I might catch myself up, and I don't think I'm going to have school tomorrow- it's supposed to be twenty below, and twenty-five below on Friday. I've barely been at school, it feels- only one day this week, and that's today..
And if we miss tomorrow and Friday... Yeesh
Also- Star, congrats on your 16x16!! *Hugs* I'm so proud I you :P
We may miss tomorrow but not Friday.
Possibly.
Heya Adra! How are you?
@Adra: Thanks!!! :) *hugs*
Sorry, btw. I went for a shower and got distracted walking around in circles.
@Rhydian: Yay! :) I can see my name in it. *points*
@Zaf: Good luck with your writing! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Zaf: Well, that's half good?
*still hasn't had snow yet this year :P*
#ChaseForBookNine
Hello, Rhydian. I just vented angrily to my mom about this place for twenty minutes, so, I'm still slightly angry. I might be distant until I calm down...
How are you?
@Adra: :/ *hugs*
#ChaseForBookNine
I'm not bad Adra :) just tired of school really.
I'm sorry we(Blogland as a collective whole)'re making you angry.
#ChaseForBookNine
Owww!!!!!
Trying to write ok oww i fell when i went to get the mail
So Adra - Why is this place making you angry? Don't have to tell me if you don't want to
@Zaf: D:!
#ChaseForBookNine
Oww damn ok its better but still hurts
I feel you, Rhy- but we're in the second half of the year, now, on the downswing, so that's at least a cheery thought?
I'm sorry, Zaf. Do try to be careful, a lot of the girls slipped outside today..
Star and Rhy- it's alright, it's part, well, just trying to come to terms, I guess... Not let things affect me so much? And, I don't think I will Rhy, as nice feeling as it would be to me, because it will certainly make people angry and might hurt their feelings. I tend to psychoanalyse people a lot, and a lot of times people don't want to hear it.
Yeah tis icy and all :/
@Adra: You can tell me. I won't judge or be mad. Promise. But if you still don't want to, I completely understand. :)
((Ari: I HATE EVERYTHING.
Ok, no, that's a lie. I don't hate everything.
BUT I HATE TECHNOLOGY.
No, no, I don't hate that either.
BUT I HATE THE SCHOOL COMPUTERS.
Fine, I don't hate those either.
BUT I HATE HOW THE SCHOOL COMPUTER SYSTEM WORKS.
That is true.
Sorry I left- I had to re-write a 6 page science paper because the system my school uses likes to spontaneously delete stuff I have saved when it needs space.))
#ChaseForBook9
No, I won't Rhy. You've got your stuffs on. Really, I can handle it. *hugs* Thanks though.
SO ANYWAY, I hope I don't have school tomorrow. It will make me very happy.
Hallo, Aretha!
I dedicate this page to...Feelings.
Because they can be...well, odd. They can destroy us and help us and create us and everything really. Emotions are odd yet we still accept them into our lives.
*Raises glass* Hear hear, Rhy!! *hugs*
*hugs Adra back* :)
Oh my gosh, my English teacher. "Puritanism is simply the haunting fear that someone, somewhere might be happy."
Crey
((Ari: That's pretty great, Adra. XD))
#ChaseForBook9
(Welcome back Ari. Can I borrow Nic irl to heal my knee?
Indeed it is. Welcome back, by the way! *hugs both*
omh
guys
-
*Adra finds herself halfway sticking out from under her bed*
*With packets of applesauce spread out around her*
*The tiny human continues to, like, breakdance or whatever they're doing in there*
*She sighs, and watches the ceiling and plays with a bouncy ball, humming*
Hey everybody.
Hullo Em! How are you?
Hallo, Em *waves*
Olivia: I wanna go see Coco!
Alexis: okay I know
((Ari: I wish you could, Zaf.
HEy Em! *hugs*))
*Adra hears a crash from downstairs* *closely followed by some muffled yelling*
#ChaseForBook9
Ah geez... *She wiggles out from under the bed, brushing herself off, and skips downstairs, narrowly avoiding the paintings*
*Gets to the bottom of the stairs* Hello...?
(Can Olivia and Lexi see Coco or no..?
((Ari: Well, we're sort of just hanging around the house... I'll have to go to the Sanctuary after this, anyway, to do a thing.))
*Niccolò has pinned Aretha with her back to the kitchen cabinet, one of his knives pressed against her neck* *Aretha plucks the knife away, moves it lower down on her body, and kicks him away* *the two of them continue to fight in the kitchen* *the fridge is hanging open*
#ChaseForBook9
..
And here I thought someone was dying.
*Glances at them*
*Pulls out her sketch pad and begins to draw the two of them, sitting on the stairs*
(So....no. Guess I'm gonna nap
Alexis: *holds Olivia* Hey. I know you wanna see him.
Gtg now. Night all! *hugs*
Night, Rhy! *huggles* Sleep well!
*after a few seconds more, he sends Aretha to the ground with a hard elbow to the back of the head*
Niccolo: *looks up* Hello, Adra. Apologies for disturbing you.
Ari: *groans a bit* *Niccolo pulls her off the floor, and heals her* *leans against him, breathing hard* Sorry about that.
((Ari: Night, Rhydian! *hugs*))
#ChaseForBook9
Ari: *closes the fridge* *to Niccolò* That was a good one. I was not expecting that. *walks over and sits by Adra, moving a painting out of the way* What are you drawing?
#ChaseForBook9
*She looks at her drawing, tilts her head to the side, then glances up* You all weren't disturbing me. Actually, I don't know what the hell I was doing..
And no, don't feel sorry. It was interesting. And exciting.
And- it was a picture of you two, the best I could. It was a bit hard, you two were moving around too much for me to get a definitive idea
(Shall watch. Bored. Typical. Not that you guys care
With you
