Raeza Blayd wasn't 100% sure she liked the Library's new leadership. She hadn't been able to meet Mr. Johnson himself, but his right-hand (wo)man, Jeanne Divine, was...charming. In a sort of unsettling way that made people do what she wanted. And Raeza was cool with what she wanted. She'd always felt unwelcome at the Sanctuary because of her mother, though she tried to pretend she wasn't bitter about it. Maybe if this group succeeded, there would be a place for her. It'd be weird, but weird like using a dishwasher instead of washing things by hand. It would take some getting used to, but ultimately she'd be happier.
Raeza walks into Blogland's clearing, and starts checking each treehouse for signs of life.
If she finds no one, she will begin attaching security cameras to the treehouses, to see anyone who approaches, and she picks the highest up one as the security office.
*she would not have been in any of the tree houses, but will have entered later, noticing some of the cameras*
*looks around for someone, curious about these new cameras*
*steps out of the lab, and stretches* *he has decided to go for a walk in the woods, to try to clear his head- he doubts he will encounter anyone else, since Blogland has been all but deserted as of late*
*notices a person in the distance and begins to walk in that direction*
*that person is of course Alastair*
*finds himself surprised to run into a stranger* Hello.

*now that she has approached a person she feels rather stupid and is not sure if she should ask her question or not*
*should she just keep walking by him and pretend she wasn't going to say anything else?*
*she winds up just standing there*
*pauses, studying her* Do you need something?
[Raeza watches the, from her new security office]

[She sends a quick text message to George]

*she's about to walk away before her curiosity gets the better of her and she quickly asks*
Do you know what all those cameras are doing here I've only ever been here once but it just seems really strange?

[Raeza hits a button which triggers a loud beeping alarm noise in one of the treehouses--not the one she's currently in.]
*raises an eyebrow* Cameras? No. *surveys the area, until he sets his eyes on the nearest one* Are there many of them?
*isn't sure whether she should be relieved or worried*
*nods*
Yeah. There mostly down that way.
*gestures in the direction she came from, where a lot of the tree houses are*
*oh* *that's interesting* *mostly to himself* I didn't even know they had alarms.
(George has been summoned via text message)
(He frowns)( He'd seen no one when he scouted the place with Theo.)
(He uses the Library's intercom system to page Spectrum.)
Have you seen anyone else around here recently?
*tilts her head, listening to the alarm*
*to Alastair*
No. But I haven't here recently either so that's not really very helpful.
[Raeza wonders if she should try to make a break for it while they investigate the alarm]
[Are they going to investigate the alarm? Maybe not...]
[The treehouse with the alarm isn't that far away though]
[If she ran, they'd give chase, and she's not sure she'd be able to outrun them]
[The ground is a bit uneven from tree roots]
[She looks down at her phone and sees that George opened the text message]

[A few minutes later, Spectrum shows up wherever the message on the intercom told her to go]
[She's holding a half-eaten egg salad sandwich] [She looks annoyed]
(She would have been told to go to the info desk)
Skylar! Grab some foil or something for Spectrum's sandwich!
I'm sorry to interrupt your meal, but Raeza says we have intruders at the new location. I need you to teleport me there.
Hm... *he can't think of a way to figure out who's here without doing any damage, and for all he knows, it could just be someone else who lives here* *though it is suspicious...* *shrugs* *if someone around here wants to control the area, they'll probably come to him* Curious.
Spectrum: No.
[continues eating her sandwich]
[Why do people keep asking her to do things before she's eaten?]

[She doesn't even like Raeza that much anyway]

Don't you think it's odd the alarm started after we mentioned the cameras?
*nods* I'd bet it has something to do with whoever placed the cameras here, if it is someone who intends to claim the area.
(George waits until she's had a few more bites, then takes the sandwich away from her and hands it to Terry, who nervously wraps it in foil)
Spectrum, we need to figure out what's going on.
[Raeza hopes maybe they will just leave.]

[Spectrum rolls her eyes and takes the sandwich back from Terry before he can finish wrapping it]

[She touches his shoulder and they appear in Blogland, on the other side of the clearing from Talia and Alastair, but visible to both of them]
[Spectrum starts eating her sandwich again]
[She'll let George and/or Raeza handle this]

Probably, yes.
And, much like yourself, as it seems, people walk in all the time- that tends to be how everyone first arrives. But I've never seen anyone rig the area- including other people's houses- with cameras and alarms before.
(George texts Raeza to turn off the alarm)
(When she does so, he loudly tells Spectrum that everything's fine, some people just wandered too close to the zone)
*Theo wanders aimlessly around the library*
I had a brilliant idea, but I forgot it, and George wasn't here to write it down!
[Spectrum does not play along]
[She finishes her sandwich, then pulls a bottle of Pepsi out of her pocket]
[She bought these pants on MageBay. The pockets are bigger on the inside]
*takes just a few steps closer to the new arrivals* May I ask what zone you're referring to?
The zone that's monitored by my alarm system, of course.
I need to do a few tweaks to the range so it doesn't pick up random passers-by. Terribly sorry about that, sir.
(His smile might look like a pitying smile, though it is intended as a friendly one)

My name is George. I work for Mr. Johnson. Head of security.
(He says this like Alastair should recognize the name)
(In addition, Head of Security is actually Raeza's title, but she doesn't seem to feel like helping so...)

His new base of operations, of course. It simply would not to do have riff raff wandering in.

Yeah, it was deserted but there's so much stuff here.

*sighs* Well I suppose, so long as you don't destroy the environment, and you stay away from that area- *he points in the direction of Adra's lab* I don't have any problem with what you're doing.
He wants to use it as a base of operations with which to fight evil, of course.

(Mentally, George notes that having neighbors in the area Alastair pointed to might be problematic, depending on who those neighbors are. How to tactfully ask...)

He mainly wants to fight against individuals who control others that don't wish to be controlled. Any specific targets will have to be approved by the council of seven, and they won't start any of that until we get our base set up, so I can't give you a more definite answer. I can, however, assure you that there is little likelihood of hair tie elimination.
(He's rather pleased with himself.)

Raeza, activate the shields. As much as I'd love to socialize with our new neighbors, I have no desire to deal with an individual this aggressive.
(He smiles at Emerald)

[Raeza first adjusts the shield range to make absolutely sure that Chase's grave is still accessible]
[She's not that cold, even if she is technically not all the way human]
[Once she's done that, she presses a button, and a magical wall appears around the treehouses]
[Everyone besides Raeza is outside the wall, I believe, as the group was conversing a bit outside the zone that they were trying to claim]
So now that you know someone is living here, you're just going to forcefully close the area off? And you don't consider that to be controlling someone who doesn't want to be controlled?
(George smiles)

Now, do you still want an appointment, or are we dropping formalities and outright attacking each other? I did hope the latter wouldn't be necessary, of course, but if you insist on being aggressive, I will have no choice but to retaliate.

Would it be possible, if my schedule allowed it, that i could listen in? I don't live here and so it doesn't really concern me, but I am curious to see what transpires.

[Spectrum has long since gotten annoyed and disappeared]
(George shrugs)
Only one person has complained, and she was extremely rude. If anyone voices objections politely, I'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement. We have the technology to move the houses to different trees and replace them with our own. There aren't any other spots with a lot of good treehouse trees in a row, so there's nowhere else to put our base, but there are a few here and there at the edge of the woods.
(He seems unable to comprehend how people can be emotionally attached to houses, and how that emotion might justify an "impolite" response.)
(George also hasn't noticed Spectrum's absence yet)
[Of course he hasn't]
Not everyone from the Library was onboard with the new leader's plans. Some, like Raeza, expressed doubts. Others outright opposed the plans.
Someone from the latter category (I shan't name the individual at this point) sent a message to one of the Sanctuaries, alerting them to the fact that the New Library might be a threat.
A small investigation team would be assembled over the next few days. Savvy Gray, an American Sensitive, was selected to figure out the exact motives and intentions of the new group. Economical, originally British but now an American Junior Administrator, was added to the team to make up for Savvy's lack of diplomacy. The higher-ups also hoped maybe he'd be able to bond with George over a love of formality. The third member of the team was an Aussie, an Elemental by the name of Jonathan Icarus. Neither Savvy nor Economical had met him before, but he seemed cool enough, and they definitely needed a third member.
Savvy, Economical, and Jonathan arrived outside the shields and looked around.
You know, this isn't exactly the kind of gig I expected to end up in when my sanctuary told me I'd be going on "an exciting foreign mission". But I suppose it's better than sitting around all day, watching the paint dry.
Economical: I am not sure why they s-sent me. I haven't done f-field work in de-decades.
Savvy: You'll be great, don't worry. [she smiles at Economical, then Jonathan] We'll be great. We'll investigate, and we'll learn all of the things.
Savvy: It is rather dull-looking, isn't it? I was expecting it to look moe like an evil lair or something, but it's just the same only with a shield and security cameras.
[She's been to Blogland exactly once before butnstillmconsiders herself an expert]
[he briefly pats Economical on the back encouragingly before looking back to Savvy] So you've been here before than? I'd never heard of the place until I was in it. It looks... quant, I suppose. Homely.
Savvy: I've been in and out briefly on Sanctuary business. I was never one of the people who lived around here. Not part of the "squad" or anythinglike that. Did you know that the streets of that town over there have swivel chairs instead of cars? [She gestures at the town in the distance]
Economical: [Looks slightly flustered by the pat on the back] [He seems surprised that Jonathan is being friendly] [He perks up considerably at the mention of swivel chairs and looks longingly in the direction of the town]
[he raises an eyebrow, casting a look in the direction of the town] Swivel chairs, huh? This really is a unique place. I'll have to take a look around after we've finished here.
Speaking of... What are we actually, y'know... doing?
Economical: We're uh investigating. The rrreport said that the new p-people taking over Blogland might or m-might not intend to attack the Sanctuaries. We have to to see what's going on. But... Is there anyone here?
Savvy: We could throw things at the shield and see if anyone comes out and yells at USA?
A nice plan... however, have you considered this: we slingshot ourselves over the force field, land in a cool fighting stance and look awesome, all while dramatic music plays in the background?
Savvy: We'd need a pretty big slingshot. I'm not sure where we'd find one of those. It might be easier to just jump out of a plane. I've always wanted to do that anyway, and it'd be hella cool if I could justify the plane and parachutes as a work expense.
Economical: [He looks positively horrified by both propositions] [He was brought along for his ability to be polite, not for his sense of adventure] [Stay calm, Economical] [Think about your lovely new desk organizer] Will...will that really be n-necessary?
I mean, it may not be necessary, but it'd sure be fun. But what would you suggest? No planes or slingshots needed. unless you want to include them, then by all means.
Economical: Well... Er... H-hello? Anybody home?
[Raeza is, in fact, "home," but she doesn't answer]
I suppose that is always an option, yes... [Jonathan hesitantly raises a fist and knocks on the force field, half expecting to be shocked or knocked back - something along those lines]
[Again, no one answers]
Savvy: Yeah, I don't think they'll talk to us unless we trip their alarm. [to Economical] Don't worry, jumping out of a plane is perfectly safe if you have a parachute. And you'll have a parachute.
[he throws an arm around Economical's shoulders] We can even jump tandem, if you want. With a parachute and an elemental, you'll be right as rain.
Economical: R-right as r-rain. [Be brave, Economical.] [Be brave be brave be brave] [he nods] O-okay. Plane it...it is.
[Jonathan grins] excellent! Savvy, would you happen to know where the nearest plane we can stea- borrow, I mean borrow, is?
Savvy: There's an airfield not far from here. We'll have to hire a plane because we need somebody to fly it, but Economical here can fill out all the proper paperwork so the Sanctuary covers the cost. He's great at that sort of thing.
[Economical appreciates the compliment. He doesn't actually mind paperwork, it's nice and organized and sometimes the fine print is enlightening]
((Sorry Jon, I need to sleep now. We'll have to continue this tomorrow. Maybe say that they took some time to go find a plane and convince a pilot to take them over Blogland,))

*It's an empty park, but she lays out a blanket, upon which the boy promptly sits* *He whines, hungry* *Adra sits across from him and pulls out a sandwich, cut into little bite squares for him, and some fruit and vegetables*
*oh* *he will wait a few minutes, till he hopes she's finished driving, and then call her*
*Picks up* Hey, husband!
*smiles* Hello, my darling wife. I was just curious about where you've gone off to, and thought I would call and ask. *now that he's said it out loud, he realizes this sounds rather terribly clingy* *he's just used to always knowing where she is, and how she is, and it worries him to have to wonder*

Suki: *is giving baby Xan all her attention, barely noticing Val*)

Sil: *huffs heavily at the inconvenience*

*turns around and grabs the tree behind her, starting to climb up it carefully*

Valnum: Hi. So, I screwed up. With Wolf and Chris. And I want to make it up to you.
*looks at her, smiling gently*
I want to take you somewhere. Meet me outside in five minutes, okay? Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
*jumps up, running out before she can object*
Sil: *holds on tight when at the top of the tree*
*luckily the shield doesn't have a roof, it's just a wall surrounding the area*
*bends her knees and activates a sigil to enhance her strength even further*

Suki: *goes to speak but he rushes out*
*puts xan in his cot and goes to put on her tracksuit*
[Savvy will take Economical and Jonathan to the airfield]
[Economical finds himself humming "we're off to see the wizard"]
[He doesn't stutter when he hums, in case you were wondering this]
[Spectrum will have appeared again eventually to take George back]
[She and Raeza will then work on a portal between the Library building and one of the treehouses]
[They have to get into their secret base somehow, of course]
Val: *fiddles with his glasses nervously*

Sil: *manages to get over the shield, just about*
*and starts plummeting towards the ground*
*she hates the falling, her hair is whipping all over her face*

*grabs her hand and uses his special item which I haven't decided on yet*

Sil: *sighs and climbs the tree, holding a rock in her hand*
*clings to the side of her treehouse, looking at the camera*

Val: *gets two guns and a belt of ammo for their both to sling across their chests*
*smiles, walking back to Suki*

*hands her's over and puts his own belt over his chest*

Sil: *smashes it a few extra times for good measure*
*goes into her tree house to clean it*

Val: Okay, if you're sure.
*grabs his gun and smiles*
Ready for war? Oh! Do you want face paint? I'll get some!

Suki: *picks up a gun and sighs*
Val: *comes back with some facepaint for putting war stripes on*
*carefully dips his three middle fingers into the paint and drags three lines down one of his eyes*

Val: *dips his fingers into the paint*
*carefully does the same as he did to his face to her*
*smiles and puts the facepaint down*
*grabs his gun carefully*

Val: *grins, shooting at the people who're his opponents, keeping an eye on Suki*

*takes off the ammo belt, dropping it onto the floor*

*quickly pulls off the paintball suit (it goes over your clothes*

*grabs some face wipes and rubs off the facepaint*

Val: Here, I'll get that for you.
*carefully cradles her cheek, gently wiping off the facepaint*
*grins and takes her hand, leading her out excitedly*
You'll love it! It's really nice and they have fairy lights everywhere instead of blinding lights and it smells so nice and they make the best chocolate ever!

Val: It really is!
*smiles and leads her into a cafe, stagger her to a corner mood*

Oh, that sounds wonderful. But as much as I'd like to join you- there's a situation here that I think I should keep an eye on. It seems there's an organization claiming all the treehouses here, and they don't seem to want the lab, but they also don't seem to have any qualms about kicking people out of homes they're still using. And I'm not sure what kind of people they plan to target once they're established. *smiles* I just wanted to be sure that you were safe. Enjoy yourselves.

Apparently they thought it was abandoned. Honestly, I was beginning to believe that as well, although I suppose I don't often step outside to check.

We are more than happy to move the treehouse to a different for you. However, we won't do that unless you cover the cost of a new camera. That was rather impolite of you, smashing it like that.

You won't be moving my treehouse anywhere, and I won't be paying for the camera. You're the one who put up a camera on property that isn't yours without asking first, if anything you should be paying me for the use of my house.
Every time we checked, no one was here. If you wanted a house, you should have lived in it.
(Again, George seems to just not understand why anyone would care about the tree houses.)
Sil: Ever heard of a holiday home? People own them but don't always live there. You want somewhere to infest, find somewhere else. It'll save you a lot of hassle, trust me.
Well, if it's just a holiday home, you won't mind our using it for a few weeks. If you need a holiday, I have a lovely little place in Barcelona that you can use, and I believe Spectrum has a cabin in British Columbia if you're more the forest type.
(He bristles at the fact that a vampire called him an infestation. His last girlfriend was killed by a vampire. He would very much like to appear in the portal with several buckets full of salt water and put an end to Sil's existence. However, he has been ordered to be as diplomatic as he can while still holding control of the space. Also he's not sure where he would get the salt water.)

If you leave peacefully, you can come back in three weeks, and the shields and cameras will be gone and all your stuff will still be in the tree house. I'll also leave out the sprinkler and go with something a bit less lethal that doesn't target you specifically.
