@Sil: Take it one paragraph at a time, in chronological order. Learn each paragraph sentence by sentence, or phrase by phrase, or just whatever makes sense. If you're having trouble with one sentence, break it down to just a couple of words at a time and repeat and build up. Typing, writing, and saying aloud are all useful because each engages different parts of your brain, so you've got more brain memorizing it. Once you've got one sentence/phrase memorized, learn it with the previous one, so they run from each other in your memory.
It might help if you know the thing in EnglishN at least vaguely, too, like, the order of what you're talking about, kind of? That could help you not forget what comes next, because it's easier to see if you missed a bit out, kind of.
If you're allowed to have some words written down to help you, try writing words that begin sentences/paragraphs as cues, as well as those you tend to forget more. If you're not allowed to bring anything written in with you - it's still a useful learning technique. Write down a bunch of cue words to start every few sentences, and see if you can recite it using those cues. Where you can't - you know where to learn more. Slowly remove cue words, and keep going like that.
Pictures can be used in a similar way, too, and that engages your brain visually, so again, more brain is learning. Same goes for hand gestures.
That's what I learned from Welsh and German, how to learn essays 2 days before I needed to recite them. And, different people learn differently, but, idk, Hopefully some of that will be helpful to you.
Plus, side-note that I'd bet anything you know more of it than you think you do. It's not impossible, even though it can 100% feel impossible.
