Had a rough few days.

We, being me and Dean who is the kids legal guardian, brought the 2 older kids to hospital about 2 weeks ago because I noticed they had a bad cough.
Now they are twins, a boy and a girl and the boy is blind. They are 10. But I noticed they both had a bad cough and were pale so we went into hospital because the boy was due for a checkup anyway so we said fuck it, we'll bring them both in.
Anyway, the doctors were concerned about the cough and the fact that they were both so pale so they did blood tests on the both of them.
Then we got the results a few days after and the doctors discovered that they both have the gene that has the lung cancer.
So either one of them or both of them could eventually contract lung cancer, like their dad.
So at the moment with the doctors and their social workers, we have been talking through their options and what could happen and what can be done as they get older.
Plus we have that bitch and her custody case in a few weeks, as well as all the emotional shit for the next three months.
It would be fair to say that I am slightly stressed.
Wow... I don't know what to say... I guess we can only hope that the gene doesn't kick in... *Hugs*
And that bitch, if I ever meet her, I will beat her senseless and then keep going.

But this is heavy stuff and there are times when I feel so guilty that I'm telling you all this because this is not fair on you all.
I know Chase was all your friend too and that you have gone through him dying like I have but everything after that event happening shouldn't be your concern and I just feel guilty...

This boy at school's starting this Satanist cult. XD He's not serious or anything, but yeah. In RS they were planning to harvest me as a sacrifice -_-. And in English he and this other boy were drawing upside-down crosses and stars and 666 all over their hands.
It's interesting, though, the 666 thing. Because I was thinking that although the boy opposite me thinks he's 666, he's actually really 555, because he's still just being typically human, talking in lessons and copying his friend, and then I though, well that depends on your perspective of the word 666, because obviously I think of it as the way it's portrayed in The Heretic Anthem, as 666-y people being different and standing out from the crowd and going against the norm, but if you look at his version of 666, he's obviously much more 666 than me. So then I thought, it isn't what things are, it's what things mean to people. And I thought it was like Moss's purple carrots. She likes the purple carrots because of what they mean to her, of being the less popular people, and yet other people think they're evil because they have a different perspective of things. And that was as far as I really got with the thinking, but I think that as far as opinions go, people should remember that different things mean different things to different people, because it can save a lot of upset and/or confusion.
I'm actually vaguely annoyed about the 666 thing. It's sort of distantly a number I like. Like, I don't really know which room we're in for science when, but I know we're in K66 on Mondays because 66 and 66 and IF YOU'RE 555 THEN I'M 666 and Slipknot. And we were in K66 for second period on Personal Development day, and I got slightly excited about that and remembered the number. And when they're putting 666 on their hands, they're just basically turning it to trash, because I don't like them and I think their whole Satanist thing is very stupid. But on the other hand, the number 666 was originally something to be feared because of the devil association, and then it was just the devil association without the fear as people became less religious, and then Slipknot stole it, so they're being more original than me.
Also . . . one of the boys was saying how in their cult they hated religious people.
Me: But you are being religious! Satanism is a religion!
Them: *go 'what'? for a bit* Whatever. We hate anyone who follows God.
Me: But Buddhists are religious, and they don't have a God.
Them: *go 'what'? for a bit* *give up and talk about something else*

The Eragon movie was terrible, and so was the game. Yes I had the game too. Still have the movie somewhere but I only watched it once.
The plot of the story needed to be a lot more like the books, but that wasn't the main problem. The problem was the SCRIPT.
My brothers never let me read their books. I'd just go out and buy then. :3 then they'd say that I was wasting money on getting copies when we already had that BUT THEY WOULDNT LET ME READ THEM

As a rule, I rarely watch films based on books. Or play video games based on films. Those are HORRIBLE.
As for films based on video games... I will see what the Assassin's Creed film will be like, and what the Mass Effect film (yes, there IS going to be one some time in the next five years or so) will be like.
If they don't make those two films good, I'm complaining. Especially about the Mass Effect one, but still.

I think the usual action is read the books first, and then watch the film, so that the book (which is usually better) is not spoiled, but, equally, if you want to enjoy the film, and know that the book will be better, does it make more sense to watch the film first, so that both are enjoyable on some level? I'm never sure. ^^
It probably depends more on the book and the makers of the film, but, I don't know.
Also, on video games based on films, they are generally not particularly great, but I spent the best part of two days playing Shrek 2 on GBA, recently. Not because it's particularly good, but because I started and I had a goal to complete it fully from the beginning. :P

I think she is planning on feeding in the tasks/notes/whatnot that I/we have written when she begins the course, but I'm not really sure.
I agree with not wanting to read ahead because it makes me prone to boredom, but it's what I'm told to do, and there's not a lot else that's constructive that I can do, really. But yeah. Thanks. :)

I think 'harrowing' is a pretty good word, though. Not sure why, but I like it. It's also a lot easier to use than the other two. :P

And - okay. :) I know what you mean. I used to not be able to say "It's five to twelve" when it was seven minutes to, because it felt like lying. :P Now I've got more used to being asked the time, and have come to terms with the fact that my watch will be a few minutes different to other people's watches and clocks and phones, so maybe it is ACTUALLY five minute to.

@Adra: On words, actually, there are words which are not words, but are used as words. Like, some people in my English class were debating whether "learnt" is a word, or whether the correct term is always "learned", today. They were told that learnt is not a word by my English teacher, in response, but spell-check does not seem to mind, now...
I think it's cool how language changes.
Also, my physics teacher keeps stating that he is/will be extremely "dischuffed" with people. And he's deadly, scary serious but it is SO hard to stifle a smirk. :P

...In truth, my clock currently reads 2:09. BUT I like it wrong because it means I have to work out what the time actually is, which is more effort but interesting practice. Add on 18 hours and two minutes.
It's weird, because I kind of come to realise that the actual time does not necessarily matter. It leads me to trust my own instinct. eg. *looks at time* "Oh, it's gone 2pm. I should probably eat food."
