The man with silver hair curses and pulls out a handkerchief. He wipes the blood away to inspect the symbol better. "No...." He whispers and takes a step back. "What have I done?" His face becomes horrified and he stumbles backwards as a bright yellow light fills the room. It seeps from the sigil of the dead girl's body and towards him. It light is more like liquid as it approaches the man with silver hair. "No!" He screams and jumps on a nearby table.
The slight climbs up after him.
"NO!" His voice is too loud for the small room. He needs to get out. The secret passage is across the room. He might be able to get it if he's lucky.
He has no choice.
The yellow light is almost to him.
He takes a deep breath and curses himself.
The room is quiet for a split second as he leaps into space.
Have any of you ever heard of Peter Hollens??

It's odd, how things seem more in your mind than others, and yet when you have none of them, the things that were in the background can be the things you miss most.
Like in Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony, when he had to think of the things that tied him to his time, the things that mattered to him, in order to navigate them back, and he realised they were all people. :)

Then man with silver hair starts to drop towards the yellow light below him and he throws his hands up, clutching an over hanging light. He sighs in relief. The light would have to travel around the room to get to him now. "Thank God." He mutters and starts to swung his body backwards an forwards, his momentum building so he can leap through that small opening in the wall. "Make or break." He whispers and lets go of the light.
He miscalculates.
He starts to fall towards the yellow light.
He sees his family, two light haired children and a beautiful woman with hazel eyes. They call to him. "Daddy..." The youngest of his children call out. "We're waiting for you."
He watches their murder again,
He watches his wife cry out in pain.
He watches his two children scream as Death Rose plunges the knife into them.
He slides through the secret passage and runs outside.
