Stratford Picture House

You may have noticed me being pretty quiet over the last week or so, and for this I have a very good reason. I am writing a book. I'm over 115,000 words in but DEAR LORD I'm at that stage when I don't know if it'll EVER be finished. I'm supposed to be filling in the blanks right now- linking up scenes and sequences and getting the chapters in order and writing any little bits that I've left empty. But I'm still no closer to the end. How can this BE?

But before I get back to work, I have been asked to remind you all that my event at the Stratford Picture House on April 5th is the only public event I'll be doing for The Maleficent Seven. For those of you who don't know what a public event IS, it's basically me on stage yapping and answering questions for an hour, and then we go on to have a signing. All other appearances for TMS are just signings.

I've been asked to remind you about this because apparently there are lots of tickets available. Well, I'm ASSUMING there are lots of tickets available. The words used were "it's been slow to book", which means roughly the same thing. Maybe it's because it's the Easter holidays or it's the start of a weekend, but usually events pretty much sell out in a very short space of time. So Harper Collins publicity people are all going "uhhh... what's happening?"

Oh, and for those of you who have already booked tickets, don't you fret. If it IS a smaller crowd than usual, it just means the event will be more of a casual chat between all of us. And also you won't have to wait in line for hours.

But, uh, for all you others... book a ticket. Or something.

I'm getting back to work now. But before I do, two pictures of cats.

One cute.

One scary.

  11. Hey, Mel and whoever else is here! I'm on my kindle so msd and wbd. Also, I'm going to investigate food in a few minutes:)

Derek, I hope you're not relinquishing your place in this world as The Golden God :O

    ReplyDelete
  12. You got your kindle back then Ieni? It WAS you who's kindle was confiscated right?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Gah. After I got told by my good friend Melica that there was a new post, I had to spend ages trying to load the page . . .

I hate it when it won't load. D: Derek's blog often does that.

    BUT ANYWAYS. HI!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hey! :D PS. DON'T KILL TANITH!!! EVER!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks for telling us that there was a new post Mel :)

  17. Hi,Star!
Yes, Aisling:) My dad pointed out where my mum had put it. It was embarrassingly obvious , but my mum still wants me to keep it downstairs. Obviously, I'm not going to let that happen...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well at least you got it back Ieni :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. omg u r the most amazing author ever.i have all skull books and the 8th comes out a week b4 my bday cant wait!

    ReplyDelete
  20. No prob :)
Dont worry Shanna she doesnt die...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mel no telling us ANYTHING about TMS. I know that's not really something but please be careful. I don't want the story ruined.

    ReplyDelete
  22. *facepalm* And of course, after I finally got here, I copied the URL of the comment box to paste on the page with Derek's blog on (because I like to be able to make the comment window the size I like), only I COPIED the URL for Derek's blog instead of pasting it . . . So it went and started loading Derek's blog istead of the comments section. So I had to spend ANOTHER age getting Derek's blog to respond so I could get back here. Nice one, Star. Real smart. XD

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ohh no I wont, I would much rather that you cryed/was happy/punched a tree because of the book and not me :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Now I'm really worried is it that bad Mel? Not the book. The book will obviously be excellent. I mean does something shocking happen. If it does don't say what it is just if something shocking yes or no. If you want to say yes or no that is.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Did you punch a tree after reading it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. But, Mel, if I punched a tree, it might be you, especially if it looks stalkery;)
OMG, fromage fraud are so nice asdfghjkl. Is it possible to fangirl about a food? But also Doctor Who and TMS in the same week asdfghjkl!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well...yes...I did...but thats not the point, it really depends on what characters you like, what ones you dont and how you view all the things that happen...so I cant really say :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ok that's makes sense Mel. Is your hand alright? I'd say punching a tree hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ohh I may have punched one of our kind Ieni...NOOO! But ohh well :)
My hands fine now :) but I think the tree is pretty broken...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gtg I have football training. It's soo cold. It's been snowing on of all day. Well it was icy snow that didn't stick but it's still snow.

    Bye

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well...sorry..? But when you read it you will understand...I hope... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. *laughs*

Ah, everything becomes more complicated when you're trees. :)

At the end of Christmas, we always chop up and burn our Christmas trees. *grins at thought of burning Melica and Ieni's relatives*

And people chop down trees ALL THE TIME . . . :)

    FOURS AIS! :(
    HI SCÁTH! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey Luce :)
WHAT DO YOU MEAN? BURNING MY TREE FAMILY? AND IENI'S TOO?

    ReplyDelete

  35. Bye Aisling, Hi Clover!

That's so awesome, Clover! What's the poster of? Because I know you were looking for a Tanith one.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We have an artificial tree, but we get a real live one every year as well.

It's The Ritual Burning of the Christmas Tree and not doing it is against the laws and traditionsof the Taylor family! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. JUST A SKULDUGGERY POSTER C:

    TANITH POSTERS DON'T EXIST

    YET

BUT TOM WANTS TO MAKE THEM C:

    ReplyDelete
  38. Aww ok, its fine Im pretty sure my family arent in the christmas tree business...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nooo! But isn't it dead by the time you get it?

    Uh, that's a strange ritual...

    It's still awesome, though!:)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Byebye, Star!:(

Yay, me and Mel can just run around and then stalk Derek unsuspectingly by being trees. Nobody ever suspects trees! (except Narnia)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah! We can follow him about outside and just freeze if he looks at us ! Hmm...but how to get me (who is in scotland) and Ieni (who is in england) to Ireland...

    ReplyDelete
  42. He said 'all other appearances for TMS...' - where are they?? I've been trying to find out for ages :( I'm obviously not looking in the right place

So instead I'll just say: IT HAD BETTER BE READY BEFORE AUGUST!

    @Skyril
Theres a couple of people at my school that love them and they kinda introduced me to them aswell XD

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh and Sky, the reason I don't go on is cos I don't read :/

Hey Flora and Time is an Allusion.

    I'm calling you Tiaa.

    ReplyDelete
  73. @Time is an Illusion
    Hellooo!
I commented at you a little ways back... Now that you changed your account, shall I call you Time? Or Illusion? Orrrr.... TI?

    ReplyDelete
  74. *awkwardly tries to figure out what is going on*
*has never seen a new post early enough to actually be in the area when people are talking*

    ReplyDelete
  75. @Skyril Oh! Call me Ali!
I think I've seen you on here before...

    ReplyDelete
  76. But Time is an Allusion, we talk here ALL THE TIME . . . :)

I come here to talk literally every day. :P SOMEONE'LL be talking here at almost any time . . . :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. How the hell do you get to Guildford from Sheffield!?

    ReplyDelete
  78. @Phoenix
    Ah, Ok, well email me when you get the chance. :}
lollipopskyril@gmail.com is my email, but for some reason I didn't connect it with my blogger account to my gmail account so I can't actually log in right now... :/

    ReplyDelete
  79. We have a pretty good community here, if I do say so myself. :)

Yeah, we all need lives. *giggles*

@Falme: Lots of shops have released TMS early . . .

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm usually kind of scared to talk to you people... you all seem to know each other already.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ummm...people keep asking me this and honestly ...Im not too sure? I preordered it, then a week or two ago I got an email saying that it had been dispatched...so then on Saturday I went to Waterstones and picked it up, I read it, put it back on my shelf and went to punch a tree :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ali, reason for that is cos we got to know each other :3

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm getting that impression yes. The internet is pretty scary though, you could all be creepers ;)

    ReplyDelete
  84. We only know each other coz we come here and see each other. *has been coming here for over a year*
But we most of us live in differet countries and very rarely have any of us met each other, so meh. -_-

Don't be scared of us! We don't bite! Well, we bite food. And I''m sure quite a few of us bite people as well. Wel, most of us probably. But to hold that against us is discrimination. *nods* I think.

Sorry, totally failing to not look scary here . . . :P

But you do find some very awesome nice people here. It's why I'm here. :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. @Skyril
    *sigh of relief*

Ah, thank goodness you liked the flower!
I'm good, thank you for asking, and yourself? :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. @Mel
    ~is jealous of your school~
NOBODY I know knew about them except Joe, my Blogland brother, and then he only kind of likes them xD

    @Ali
    Oooh, cool, alright!
And just so you know, there's often people around or nearby in Blogland, if you comment and hang out for a while, generally other people will show up :D
And I haven't been coming on very frequently, but I'm [once again] trying to change that xD
Oh, and I just saw that you said we all seem to know each other already? Not especially. There are a TON of people I don't know, and those of whom I Don't, I greet... Then we know each other. :D
In the beginning everybody was super friendly. Actually, most people [at least of the ones I've met] are still that way :]

    ReplyDelete
  87. I MADE A PROFILE PICTURE!!!

And I'd come here more often if tumblr didn't own my soul.

    ReplyDelete
  88. @Ali
By the way, you got the 100th comment!
I always think that's cool. I mean, sure, the 200th and 201st are awesome, but I still like the in-betweens!

    ReplyDelete
  89. The people that were here when I first came on are mostly different to the ones on now. But the older and newer Bloglands ae equally awesome. :)

    Actually, I'm newer than Flame and Skyril . . . -_-

But when I'm here with Fabi and Mara and Ieni and people, I'm the oldest. :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'm not going to live after the next two weeks...

    ;-;

    CP2 to finish, and TMS to read ;-;
    Feels.

You got a butcher's knife and you,
    You cut me in half,
    You stole my heart;
    And away you laughed.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ahhh 100th comment never got that before! (i usually show up around 2000) but I g2g, my online class is over. Goodbye strange blog people!
    ALI OUT

    ReplyDelete
  92. @Ali
    That's very true xD
But fortunately, I've only met three or four in the last 3 years, and they weren't stalkers, just annoying/mean/crazy-in-a-bad-way.
Most of us are pretty much awesome 8]

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't want to get Facebook or Twitter or Tumblr or anything else, because then I'll want to spend time on them and I want to keep my time . . . D:

    ReplyDelete
  94. @Bsoithea
I know what you mean xD
I don't have any, and I don't think I want to get them either :P

    ReplyDelete
  95. BYE, FOLKS!
Hopefully I'll see y'all again before very much time has elapsed! I'm kinda wonky, so that may, or may not happen O_O
    JUST DON'T FORGET ME!

    Self: ?

Yes I can do this and not get arrested.

I MIGHT BE VAL ON SATURDAY.

She'll be in Ireland on Thursday. God save us..

    ReplyDelete
  101. @Flame: Yes, actually. ACHEIVEMENT! *never usually really remembers anything*

    Yay for Ivy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Guys today we gotta be EXTREMELY careful commenting we need comment space for tomorrow for the TMS Celebration tomorrow at MIDNIGHT Irish time for those in America at 8PM EST TOMORROW

    ReplyDelete
  103. Maybe the snow will stick tonight and I'll wake up tomorrow morning and there'll be snow everywhere. Hopefully.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Correct see I hate to ask Derek to stop writinf and a post for us and I really rather not so as we have this one we just gotta not spam

    ReplyDelete
  105. I know but I can hope.

Actually I don't want it to stick because then I might not be able to get to a bokshop on Thursday to get TMS.

    ReplyDelete
  106. How many comment spaces do you think we'll need for the celebration Zaf?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Eh well if we say reach 400-600 comments before midnight tis ok even on te Requim Ball we managed to have an After Party and the After Party's After Party

    ReplyDelete
  108. *hands Derek a cookie*
Progress will come. And so will people, for that matter. :P

*throws cookies at the rest of Blogland*

    Howdy.

    ReplyDelete
  109. so we have all of tonight and tomorrow (Irish time) to try not get past about 600 comments?

We SHOULD be able to do that. Maybe if everyone comments a bit less than usual until then just in case though.

Maybe Derek will post again before midnight tomorrow though. In case he doesn't we'll just be more careful.

Zaf I hope we can do it.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hi Taia

Ohh yummy cokkies. *Takes cokkie* *Sits in corner eating cookie*

    Mine

    ReplyDelete
  111. We can i have faith in Blogland and I wanna be prepared in case Derek DOESNT post I did tweet him and tell him if he can he is welcome to join in

    ReplyDelete
  112. *cookies

I hope he joins in. That would make the whole celebration SOO much better.

Derek please join our TMS celebration. Your presence would improve the celebrations 1000 times.

    ReplyDelete
  113. *tilts head*

If you're worried about running out of comment space, we used to have an 'Overflow Blog' to fall back on, when that happened.
Could you go with something like that? If the comment space overflows, somebody could just put up a post on another blog for the party to continue, and post the link at the end of the last page. ^^

    Hiya, Aisling. :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. Taia that could work too.

But it'd probably be nicer to have the celebration all on Derek's page.

But that's a good thing to know about.

    ReplyDelete
  115. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Who decided to have a TMS celebration?

Or is there a celebration for every book?

    It's a very good idea.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I decided actually lol I thought it would be a nice way for long time Bloglandians and new ones to meet and all

    ReplyDelete
  118. *nods* That it would. Derek, should make an appearance.
*pokes the Golden God* Please?~ :3

    *nods, again*
Just an idea, if you do find yourselves running out of space. :)

    I'm not sure.
I think Zaf came up with the idea to hold another Requium Ball, but because it made more sense to hold the Ball on the date(ish) annually, a suggestion for a TMS celebration rose instead. A discussion followed, and thus the Epic TMS Celebration of Epicality was born.

    Or something like that. :P

    ReplyDelete
  119. *same date(ish), annually,

In any case, it was an awesome idea.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Zaf it's an amazing idea.

    Does everyone know about it?

Wait if we don't want to waste space here then why don't we just go back to the last post and comment there?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Or do we only ever commen on the most recent post?

    ReplyDelete
  122. I'm so jelly of people who got to meet Roger Allen and Ben >:|

    ReplyDelete
  123. Hm, I think that's another thing to be done if a blog post runs out of comment space, actually. Forgot about that one. xD

As for going there now, we could do. ^^

    Hi, Tyler.

    ReplyDelete
  124. If we flare switching blog posts it will take me a while to get there

    ReplyDelete
  125. So will we or won't we?

If we are we should leave a message here as the last comment telling everyone else to comment on the other blog post until the celebration starts.

  126. Or at least until tomorrow evening.Or whatever time it is wherever you are at the time it's the evening Irish time.

  127. Are you sure Zaf there's 27 hours to go until the celebration starts.

    ReplyDelete
  128. *tilts head*
How about, if comment space reduces a little to much in the next 27 hours, commenting could move there THEN.
I think we'll probably be okay for space, though. ^^

  129. When we fill up posts, we these days move back to the previous post . . .

We decided doing that was better than an overflow blog.

If you look back to whenever it was, we filled up TONS of blog posts and had to go back quite few months and then to the previous YEAR. *laughs*

  130. Hi Star

yes IF we need to we will. That's probably the best way to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  131. What you said about newer minions meeting older ones Zaf . . . I like that. :)

It hurts me that some of the awesome people I know don't know some of the other awesome people I know, because they're all so awesome and should know each other . . .

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeah . . . I think we posted a lot of comments in them days and Derek didn't post posts that often. :)

I can't remember when it was, but it can't have been that long away from 2011. We were in 2012 and we went back to 2011, yes. *nods*

  133. Oh, look, Zaf got there first. :P

  134. Yes I'd like to meet some older minions.

I've only recently started coming here. I started last month. I've been a SP fan for a good while though.

I'm so glad I came here. I've met loads of amazing wonderful people.

  135. Was just watching this cooking show, and whenever they said caster sugar they said it "carster sugar" in a Southern England accent, and I always imitated them. "CARSter sugar." XD

I mean, I say paragrarph and marster and crarft and whatever else coz I used to live down SOuth and it sounds better, but I say grass Northerninly and bath Northernly and most things Northernly, and I don't recall having heard 'caster sugar' i a Southern accent before . . . :P

I generally refer to the South as 'down there' and the North as 'up here.' For example, I often say 'we moved up here' in sentences. :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. Uh. No offense to anyonewho lives in Southern England. I love Southern accents, anyways. :)

    ReplyDelete
  137. I think Brittish people sound the same

Now Em and NJ both are Irish but have completely different accents

  138. 'Scary' cat picture looks like my cat...

I give up, I have asked my mother to rethink about whether it's possible to get me to that event or not. It kind of starts an hour before her work finishes...so I may have to continue badgering about the signings on the 6th..I NEED TO KNOW DETAILS FOR THAT ONE!!! *breakdown*

*Switches off crazy mode* Okay...hello anyone...can't be bothered to look at previous posts, what's happening here?

    ReplyDelete
  139. *hugs Ais* And we met an amazing person too - you! :)

I'm glad I came here too. It's improved me as a person, I think. Made me more apprecaitive of people and given me better people skills. :P

    ReplyDelete
  140. I've been here for the most part of two years.
But I'm not exactly the most frequent of visitors.

    *laughs*
I don't really speak in any specific way. Sometimes I'll say "marster" or "crarft", sometimes not.
Generally, I think I sort of go for something in between. :P

    ReplyDelete
  141. Zaf threre are loads of different Irish accents.

    There's different Dublin accents even.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Brits? Sounding the same? I'd hate to think my poshness sounds like the chavs I sit next to in Maths...

    ReplyDelete
  143. Then there are the ones who come from the places that pronounce things the same ways Americans do, just less accenty and I should shut up now, I don't really know what I'm talking about...WAFFLES!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Lol sorry and uh BJ discussing the TMS Celebration

    *crosses fingers*

Oh I hope Derek decides to listen!

    ReplyDelete
  145. WHAAT??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    *absolute stunnedness*

ZAF, WE BRITIHS ARE ONE OF THE COUNTRIES WITH THEMOST VARIATION I OUR ACCENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know many accents, but I know strong Yorkshire accents, posh Southern accnts (generalising a bit there, sorry), sort of know Cockney accents, and know what I would considor normal, which I can't really describe beacuse it's just . . . normal . . . nothing really stands out about it. :P

And most of the above accents are COMPLETELY different from each other.

Comparing a strong Yorkshire accent to a posh Suthern accent islike comparing an American accent to a British one.

You just haven't met enough British people. :P

Ah, I should probably explain my brain. I explode angrily and make huge great speeches without actually being more than a few percent angry then utterly forget about it five minutes later and make few grudges. Just in case you thought I was actually angry at you. :) Which you might have done, now I come to think of it.

    ReplyDelete
  146. There are plenty of different British accents.
To be more specific, there are plenty of English accents.
I find it too hard not to laugh when I hear South Wales' accents, though. "Phenomenal" was particularly ridiculous.

    I think that's just me, though. :P

    ReplyDelete
  147. Ink, I agree. I have an accent in common with one person in my school, and then everyone else is completely different to each other.

The TMS celebration is on a school night...I will have to do some careful sneaking to make it...

    ReplyDelete
  148. I often want to say 'chavvy accent,' but then I might have to explan it to them foreigners. XD

Apparently I don't have a Northern accent, according to my mum. O_O

    I don't know, not really hearing my own voice . . . :)
