    ReplyDelete
  5. What happened?? Do you guys see the error 270914 too?? And 09 is September, not August. August is 08 month.

    ReplyDelete
  6. OMG its the date of TDOTL release! Regan Jefferies you are simply wonderful!

    LET THE COUNTDOWN COMMENCE!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Does this mean the date has changed for when it is coming out? 27th September 2014
    270914
    27/09/14

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, I thought that as a date, that looked ... off.

A month later than originally announced? Hmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Its either that or it could be some kind of major date in the book?
Like end of the world type date or a main character death date...
    just an idea :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Maybe the date has changed.Or Derek is just trolling us. Or there really is an error. Or I'm Batman. Hello all BTW!

    ReplyDelete
  11. (I think that's the error code for the blog EXPLODING)

    ReplyDelete

((dragona did you see my last comment?))

    ReplyDelete
  15. (Yes, I did, Silente)

*grabs a canister from her belt and empties the contents on to Silente's limbs and back*

*it's a gel containing an anaesthetic and clotting agent - among other things. And it's also technically against genetic modification laws but meh*

    ReplyDelete
  16. *her back and limbs stop bleeding as much*
*her stomach still has a giant hole in it though*
    *is still coughing up blood*
    So..soph...Sophia!
*coughs viciously blood pouring from her mouth*
    B...b....bomb!

    ReplyDelete
  17. *puts an energy barrier around the black dome*

*empties another canister on to Silente's stomach*

That should do you for now - you'll live.

*grabs her and lifts her up*

*starts moving away from the bomb*

    ReplyDelete
  18. (Indeed sir.)

    *groans*
Is he gone? Did he leave?
    *can't really do much*
*at least she's not bleeding on Sophia*

  19. Ermahgerd i need another skulduggery book in my hands right now or im going to explode and nobody wants to see my bits all over the walls... Its quite disturbing

    ReplyDelete
  20. ((kk Dragona.))
((270914. It could be a date. Or a word count. Most likely a date. The date of release is 270814 and the counter on the website hasn't changed I don't think. So maybe a signings gone wrong? Or something... *hopes to god the books release date hasn't changed* *she can't wait an extra month*))

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh and Derek if you actually read the comments is there going to be like a book signing event thing where your minions get to meet you, just wondering

    ReplyDelete
  22. What if it's an error because Derek changed something in the book so that maybe everyone lives happily ever after now and the evil part of his brain is rebelling, causing him to stop typing whatever blogpost he was working on and repeat a string of numbers?

See, Derek, you've sparked a debate.

    ReplyDelete
  23. DEREK, I KNOW YOU'RE AWESOME AND THAT'S AWESOME AND ALL, BUT SOMETIMES YOUR AWESOMENESS IS SLIGHTLY TOO AWESOME FOR OUR BRAINS TO COMPUTE, SO WOULD YOU MIND TONING IT DOWN A BIT SO WE CAN ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND YOU?

    ReplyDelete
  24. OKAY GUYS YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN YOUR TIME TP NOMINATE AND NOW IT'S TIME TO VOTE! THE CATEGORIES AND THE NOMINEES ARE UP! REMBER EMAIL YOUR VOTES! ANY VOTES PUT IN THE COMMENTS SECTION WILL NOT COUNT! HAPPY VOTING!

  25. But yeah I think it's a date. :P
    27/9/14.
    September. 2014.
I think that's so coincidental as to make it unlikely that it's NOT a date.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 27th of September 2014

DEREK I GET IT YOU CLEVER PERSON

    why so late though?

    ReplyDelete
  27. or maybe Derek just really likes this colour.

    http://www.colorhexa.com/270914

    ReplyDelete
  28. Of course I'm right, Kallista! I'm always right! Except when I'm left. Or forward/backward/up/down/diagonal. [nods meaningfully]

    ReplyDelete
  29. Perhaps you should attempt to fix Mr. Landy by turning him off and turning him back on again.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Very clever, Derek.

    I think?

    Anyway- *Hugs*
    :3

    ReplyDelete
  31. Back.

I'm confused at the whole blogland awards system - so we email them, but they're all posted at the same time? So should I send different emails with each of the different categories or just do it in one?

Why can't you just count the blog posts?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. It doesn't much matter whether you do it separately or all in one, though I imagine one would be considerably easier.

And I'm not sure what you mean 'count the blog posts.'

Theoretically, we could do it in the comments, but we decided it would be better if it wasn't publicly visible who voted for who (that might cause hurt feelings). We may have to do it by comments, though...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes the comments, that's what I meant. And kk. ^^

    ReplyDelete
  35. And you have to pick a 1st, second and third, right?

    ReplyDelete
  36. You have the option to vote for up to three, but you don't have to vote for that many if you don't want to.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It seems I'm nominated for best writer... and it said you'll get like links to their best writing - please pick from my Mass Effect Fanfiction blog because Dragona Pine's Blog is heavily outdated and I don't use it anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And if you vote for three, you do have to rank them 1, 2 and 3.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Okay, that's what I have on the list. I'm hopefully doing that in a later post.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm setting my email out like a table :D

    ReplyDelete
  41. And they didn't listen when I said he needed to see the people in white coats.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Zaf: I think he just had a system failure. Turn him off and turn him back on again and then hopefully he'll be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  43. DRAGONA HOLD YOUR VOTES! DUE TO SONE TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES YOU SHOULD NOT SEND YOUR VOTES UNTIL A NEW POST IS GIVEN STATING WHO TO EMAIL THEM TOO

    ReplyDelete
  44. On a happy note, I did Confrontation in front of my chorus class.

    Teacher= impressed.
    A. I'm soprano and I did a song for a guy
    B. I switched sucessfully between Jekyll and Hyde
    C. I did a solo

    ReplyDelete
  45. Um... hello, people of Blogland. *waves*

    ^^

    ReplyDelete
  46. Zaf: Well it works with everything - and nobody knows why.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Am I the only one to notice a date in that post?
Is anything going to happen on 27th Septemeber 2014?

    ReplyDelete
  48. IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT I FIND A DIAMOND
HOPE THE DIAMOND DOESN'T MIND WHEN I MINE IT

    ReplyDelete
  49. WAIT

    MOVIE NEWS MAYBE?????

    I DON'T KNOW

    ReplyDelete
  50. Quite frankly, there is little use in speculating what will happen, if anything even will happen, on the twenty-seventh of September this year, for the closest one can get is "maybe something".

    ReplyDelete
  51. All hail Derek and his unrivaled wisdom!

  54. So, is that when DotL is coming out? OMG I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Bye Catherine, and I hope you'll remember how to use it at some point?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Even if it is later, I'm so excited XD

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hi Kallista! ^^ *hugs back*
Yes, I think I am. *looks at herself* Yes, yes I am.

    ReplyDelete
  58. *looks back and forth between the two people she doesn't know*
Oh. Decisions. I don't normally get a choice..
    *thinks*
    Hmmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  59. I wish, Kal. I still have two months to the exams. Then exams. And THEN I'm done with university for this summer - but have only three weeks off work. Cause I work while studying. ^^

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hello! [hugs]

I'm sorry, I'm a bit distant. Trying to work out technical difficulties... :-/

    ReplyDelete
  61. ... um.
    *looks suspicously at Silente*
*decides to better be safe than sorry, changes into an eagle and flies up a few meters*

    ReplyDelete
  62. *watches Aquila fly off*
Oh. Hmmm..that puts me in a mighty fine predicament.
    *grins*
*jumps high into the air and tries to catch the eagle*

    ReplyDelete
  63. Silente: She's my girlfriend. DO NOT fight her like normal people :P

    ReplyDelete
  64. I need some kind of distraction so I can put off revising for my exams next week:-( But I'm gonna keep worrying about it until I do.. So I'm gonna go study the lungs and heart for the next 10 mins and then revise algebra. Yay me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. *folds her wings to her body, drops like a stone, opens them juuuust before hitting the ground and flies close to the ground at high speed*
(Good luck with that, bunny. :P ^^)

    ReplyDelete
  66. (Thanks Kal, and don't worry. My friends already complain I do too well for the little work I do. ;) )

    ReplyDelete
  67. Silente: Just break it this once, please :P

    ReplyDelete
  68. *lands smoothly*
Oh good. I love a runner.
*runs as a blur after the eagle gaining on her with ease*

    ReplyDelete
  69. Kallista: Silente fights everyone who she meets. Basically :P

    ReplyDelete
  70. *changes into a fox and dives into a hole FAR too small for her*
(Shape-shifting. Maybe an old-fashioned power, but I sure like it. Also, foxes carry lots of illnesses for other beings, so better don't try anything stupid. You don't want an eight meter parasitic worm in your intestine.)

    ReplyDelete
  71. (Did I mention the worm is both genders at once and has sex with itself? Don't even think of biting me.)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I forgot to mention Aquila + Biology = horrible descriptions :P

    ReplyDelete
  73. *sits outside the fox hole*
aww. But foxes are cute! I wanna pet it!
*waits for her to possibly come out*

    ReplyDelete
  74. [Hides from the fighting behind a large shrubbery]

    ReplyDelete
  75. (It's why you're sometimes told not to eat wild strawberries and stuff, Kal. ^^ )

*looks at Silente from inside the hole*

    ReplyDelete
  76. Aw thank you:-) I can remember what factorising is though :-\

    ReplyDelete
  77. (thats so cute! Omg that worm is awesome! I respect that worm!)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Aquila!!!!! Kallista!!!!!!!!!! *tacklehugs them both*

    ReplyDelete
  79. (Oh, they are fine as long as they are above peeing heighth. Basically, if a guy couldn't pee that high, no fox or dog could, either. ^^)

    ReplyDelete
  80. *watches the fox*
*thinks about how foxes are awesome*
*wolves are better but foxes are awesome too*

    ReplyDelete
  81. (Um. I'm a fox in a fox hole, but hey. ^^ *hugs Chione back* Hi. ^^)

    ReplyDelete
  82. (Here in Germany, foxes are usually portrayed as smart, whereas wolves are more often shown as smart but cruel. Wolves don't really have a good name, just think of all the fairy tales about them eating people. ^^ Besides, wolves are still very rare so a fox would attract far less attention.)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Factorising is when you put something in brackets . . . expanding is taking it out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yes, foxes certainly are awsome. But wolverines are not. Nor are honey badgers. They are EVIL. And lamas spit at you ( it really smells too) and don't even get me STARTED on killer Wales

    ReplyDelete
  85. Damit I'm still wearing my Wedding dress...let me change.
    *rushes into her house*

((Aquila, you probs won't remember me from two years ago but...my name back then was Tanith and Valkyrie lover?))

    ReplyDelete
  86. So if I factorised 2x+6 it would be 2(x+3) . . .

    ReplyDelete
  87. (I still favor wolves. They're beautiful and smart and amazing and i love wolves. Foxes are okay but to wolves they simply don't compare)
    (HEY CHIO!)

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am not crap at maths AT ALL.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I quite like wolves. I have like a picture on my wall of a wolf and it changes to more pictures of wolves if you look at it from a different angle.

    But I also like foxes.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yes Star it would. And expanding 2(x+3) takes it back to 2x+6

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hello:-) I really have to go factorise algebra but I will see yuse later:-)

    ReplyDelete
  92. (Well, don't worry about all those animals - my Aquila can only change into three. Eagle, fox and... ^^)
*changes into a cat and carefully comes out*

    ReplyDelete
  93. ((Hey Dragona, Silente, Sir, Star and Catherine))

    ReplyDelete
  94. (Chione - maaaaaybe. But quite a lot of people had names involving those two at some point. So, I don't remember anything in particular, sorry. ^^)

    ReplyDelete
  95. *smiles at the cat*
    *scratches her behind the ears*
    Aww your so cute!
    *strokes her gently*

    ReplyDelete
  96. ((Oh... I was around when Dragona, Kall, Isabella, BB and you were around and the chat server we had too...))

    ReplyDelete
  97. not sure if Derek and Holly finally set a wedding date or he's just getting upset over Les Mis and is also really drunk

    ReplyDelete
  98. I literally just watched Les Mis a few hours ago. Cried at the end. Omg.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @Silente: Yeah. Was telling Catherine . . .

And - @Catherine: Been doing algebra for several years, that's why I know it. :)

    My friend C says she's a wolf.

    ReplyDelete
  100. (Ok, that DOES help. ^^ I do think I remember meeting you before. ^^ Be warned, though, my memory isn't the best. ... or rather, it's out of control. I still know the table of contents of the bible by heart, and I had to learn that ten years ago... then again I can't remember the birthdays of my grandparents.)

    ReplyDelete
  101. You know Star, I'm starting to like your friend C. I've never met her before, like at all, but she sounds awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yay algebra done! Thank you for your help:-) My mind is a little foggy at the moment because I have a COLD in the middle of summer ( damn you immune system) and I'm also worrying about my friend. A girl in my form is really bullying him and although he's reported it he was really crying this after noon... And I'm crap in those situation because as soon as someone starts crying I start crying which is the probably the most unhelpful thing you can do:-( But hay ho hopefully things will be better for him tommorow:-)

  125. No offended Dragona, but Mass Effect had three endings.

    Three.

Chrono Trigger was made in either the eighties or nineties and it has 27.

Also, the fun is old fun. What's the fun in Pac Man? Or any sport? Most IPhone games? It's the challenge it presents. It challenges you to win, or in some cases do better than everyone else. And it's fun because it IS a challenge, while in the end, you will always win Mass Effect, you will not necessarily always win Mario Kart. And THAT is why it is fun.

Plus the whole upside down mechanic kinda turns the game on it's head. (So punny)

    ReplyDelete
  126. Star - For that, there's a few other games which are actually better. Like GoldenEye. GoldenEye (for the Wii - but you can also get it on the PS3) is a remake of the VERY famous Nintendo 64 version and you can play that with lots of people and if you want to have fun instead of killing people you can put it into paintball mode or a mode where everyone is tiny and have huge hands.

  127. About 6 months ago I had pretty strong obsessions with hand washing that was bordering on OCD ( looks like I was wearing white gloves when it was actually dried cracked skin from over- washing) and after several cycles of trying to become " normal" and then obsessing I know how sucky it is to feel depressed, becasue i was just constantly fretting about getting ill ( i would use my elbow to open doors and turn on lights) and i felt like there was no escaping the worry. Luckily its not so bad now, but im still very concious about handwashing and still have to use handcream as my hands are too dry. I really hope you feel happier soon, Chione:)

    ReplyDelete
  128. @Dragona: Yeah
but Mario Kart is the family game that everyone knows how to play and it's what you do when you go to other kids' houses.
It's like how when you give someone a lift in the car you always put the popular radio station on that plays shitty pop music (that's Capital, here!) because it's kind of neutral ground.

  129. I don't have friends. I think they're friends when they actually don't like me at all. I think I may have two.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Trip - no. Mass Effect 1 has 2 endings. Mass Effect 2 has like a TONNE of endings because lots of things can happen and people can die and stuff. Mass Effect 3, despite having three "main" endings - your decisions across the games are taken into account. And also the endings change in consideration to how many war assets you have and stuff.

And no - you will not always win on Mass Effect. 1. The singleplayer has Insanity difficulty which is DESIGNED to be VERY VERY VERY hard. 2. Mass Effect 3's multiplayer has Platinum difficulty AND there's no guarantee that you'll win.

    ReplyDelete

I think just try and be positive.
I mean, maybe during the day, just think about all the good things that have happened in the day. And maybe you'll think there are no good things, but there will be, you just have too look for them. :)
Also - act like you're happy.
My mum's been telling me for years that if I act like I'm confident, I'll become confident.
She was telling me just before I went to an event Derek did at Leeds, when I was mega anxious because I was meeting some of my online friends for the first time.
During the event, what did Derek say?
He said that if you act arrogant, you become arrogant, and he didn't used to be arrogant but then he pretended he was and now he's arrogant and he loves it. :P
(My mum was very smug. XD)
    Also -
if you repeatedly think you're pathetic, you'll start to automatically think you're pathetic and then you'll feel pathetic and like you can't do anything.

    Perspective is everything.

You're awesome, Chi. *hugs* Sorry - I should tell you more. :/ It might help.

  134. *jumps to the floor and changes into a human*

    @Catherine
I know I said some creepy stuff about worms, earlier, but I was exaggerating. Usually, your body is very capable of fighting off illnesses. If you're worried of getting ill, it might even help you to wash your hands LESS often. It sounds weird at first, but basically the skin has a slightly acidic protective layer. Soap as a base messes that up.
... just in case you need motivation. *shrugs* If not, nevermind. ^^

  137. Oh that's just the depression talking. What you need to do is draw up a list of why you think they dislike you, then why you thought they liked you.

The length of the respective lists is irrelevant, as friendship is highly irrational. Unless they specifically told you, you're probably imagining it.

Also, there's a crowd! I spent an awful long time with three close friends. You don't need lots of friends, just the ones you have, because those are the ones that matter. They're the ones who will fight for you, laugh with you, and make up with you after a fight. Anyone who's less than that isn't worth bothering over.

  139. Hello Kestrel! Well, I'm quite neutral really, like most of the time. Same old same old. You?

    ReplyDelete
  140. But Dragona, the series had three. And then there was some DLC that tried to redeem itself, but STILL.

Just because a game is very hard, does not make it impossible. In the end, the game is always going to get won by you, so long as you're dedicated enough, however, by fluke a total noob might beat a pro at Mario Kart. And that is what keeps people interested. That there is always someone better to beat, and when you reach the top of the pile, that there's always people nipping at your heels.

    ReplyDelete
  141. @Chi: I realised the other day that I spent like four years of my life hanging around with people that I didn't even really like and I never did anything about it.
I now feel rather stupid. :P
But my mum always told me (my mum told me good advice, yo :P) that it might take you a while to find the people that were like you and that you got along with, but that you would find that.
And maybe it took me four years, but I have great friends now.

    And . . .
real life friends . . . maybe they're just people to sit with at lunch and stuff so you don't have to be a loner.
But that's okay, because you have online friends. You have us. *hugs*
And even if you have no real life friends, Chi . . . that's okay, because you'll find some, and even if you don't, you have us, and we're your friends. :)

    ReplyDelete
  142. *you ask too much of your friends. They're people too. They can't spot everything, and probably have incredibly similar problems of their own*

    ReplyDelete
  143. Trip: doesn't that go for EVERY game? You can always try to complete it the fastest, or collecting the most stuff, or killing the most or least people - you don't really need a competitive game to make a competition, I think?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Thinking of events....I wish I could go to one. Perhaps they may send him over to the States. I may have to go all Grand Mage on them. Though I must have ticked the American HC off with my very nice rant, I was polite! I think I annoyed them. Ah well, little bastards.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Chi- I have very few friends. I have like 3 friends and they're my close friends.

    ReplyDelete
  146. The same goes for you, Silente.
    *hugs*
    You're awesome too. Don't forget it. :) :)

    @Trip: Yeah . . .
that's why I play Solitaire. My Solitaire is actually screwed. It's meant to judge your high score by the time you get to play a game, but it actually just adds 100 points on whenever you complete another game . . .
so I reckon that if I play enough games, I'll eventually be top of the leaderboard.
So that's, like, one of my minor lifetime goals. :P

    Completion. *nods*
I get urges to complete things.
    Like Pokémon.
And it's pointless and stupid, but I'm pedantic like that.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Chi, I barely know you and I already like you. Like Trip said, sometimes having a close group of friends is better than a crowd of hi- bye friends, coz they are always there for you and understand you, and are the best friends who'll you'll know for many years, won't backstabb or gossip about you. Try thinking about an ideal day or goal that would lift your spirits and work towards that goal. I'd try to confide or talk to your friends, or maybe make new ones. It probably didn't, but i really hope my advice helps a little:)

    ReplyDelete
  148. Trip: Three main. And it is not the destination, it's the journey, that matters. The DLC did change the ending slightly - so with and without the DLC takes it up to 6 main endings and then there's the whole thing with the decisions and stuff... it will add up. I mean, everything you do across the whole series influences the ending in some way.

And I mean, I've played the Mass Effect series for like 600 hours in total and I STILL get killed by Banshees. Because there are challenges for the more experienced players - it's not unusual for me, a level 20 Quarian Infiltrator armed with the most powerful sniper rifle in the game and a shotgun which shoots SPIKES to be beaten by some level 2 Human soldier with the worst rifle. It's happened a few times. All the characters - and classes - have their strengths and weaknesses. So it keeps things interesting. In a multiplayer team it has to be balanced. People with biotics are good for the unarmed enemies. Then people with tech tend to be better. It's all balanced. And doesn't matter how devoted you are because the multiplayer runs on packs, and there are multiple levels of them and you get characters and weapons randomly through them - with the better packs costing more credits having a higher chance of getting a rare item.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Sure, Aquila, you CAN speed run Mass Effect, or see who can kill every single possible enemy in the game first, but that isn't how it's MEANT to be played. It's meant to be savoured, you're supposed to learn to live your characters, your ship, your weapons. It isn't meant to be about beating others, it's supposed to be about carving your own little story. However, that doesn't change the fact that the knowledge that some other guy won't swoop in and beat you at the end has a profound impact on your overall experience.

    ReplyDelete
  150. ugh the Walking Dead episode 4 needs to come out like right now ._.

I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO SARAH

  151. *frowns*
I'm sorry, is it not normal to only have two or three friends you actually like/who actually like you?
I have that amount now, and that's that most amount of friends I actually like/who actually like you I've ever had in my life, so I thought I was doing quite well. :P

    ReplyDelete
  152. Oh AND the DLC adds in a refusal ending so that's seven "main" endings. And more possible ending influences besides.

    ReplyDelete
  153. One of the 2 friends that I have, I think they would talk about me behind my back. I think they have before but they still hang around and talk to me a lot more than most. She doesn't even ask how I am most times... I don't know what to do...the other friend I think I have is an Ex boyfriend...

    ReplyDelete
  154. But then you restart the level and carry on. But in Mario Kart, you get penalised for dying. In games like Mass Efffect the worst potential thing they can do to you is penalise you by taking away items or currency. It doesn't affect your overall chance of reaching the end, it just increases the time it takes to get there.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Any way am going to watch porridge on gold. Hope you all have a good day tommorow!:)

    ReplyDelete
  156. Trip... you're letting others decide how you play your video games? Really? 0o
I thought it was normal to just have fun, like I do... ^^
Tbh, as long as you do have fun I don't care how you have it, or with what game. ^^

    ReplyDelete
  157. What does Mario Kart do if you die? I thought you just play another round?

    ReplyDelete
  158. To be honest, I bever ask my friends how they are. Neither do mine ask me. If it's obvious, then we console eachother, but we never ask. And anyway, just because he's your ex doesn't mean he'd definately be a bad friend.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Uh, Trip, that's a penalty just the same. They're different games - one's a racing game, the other is an epic sci-fi action-adventure role-playing game with an entire galaxy to explore. Entirely different games and they have to handle their penalties differently.
The idea is that you're SUPPOSED to survive until the end - though you can die in Mass Effect 2 at several points, and Mass Effect 3 which is the kind of "normal" ending though it is possible (but very hard) to survive. HOWEVER it doesn't stop the squad members - your team - the actual characters in the games from dying. Which is more of a penalty than losing where you got up to. One wrong decision - and that can happen.

    ReplyDelete
  160. No, I know...He is probs the only friend I have right now...

    ReplyDelete
  161. Say you fall off a tack into some form of terminal hazard (e.g deep drops, the ocean, etc) you get pulled out and get held for a few seconds before you carry on. This tends to drop you about ten places or so in a game of regular players.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Of course you talk about people behind their backs.
I've talked about all my friends behind their backs. It doesn't mean anything. When you do it, it's more sharing experiences to find out where you both are, because you can't really do that in front of people. So then you can kind of get on the same page.
And I'm pretty sure most of my friendship group has talked behind my back. My friend C told me one she'd never said anything bad about me behind my back, and then she thought about it and told me that she hadn't SAID anything, but she had kind of gone along with things before.
Which means people HAVE said back stuff about me behind my back.
    *shrugs*

Basically, Chi - it's friendships. We're teenagers. It happens.
It's not about expecting people to be flawless. It's accepting people for who they are, even though sometimes they might say some mean comments about you without realising they're out of order, or push you to do things you don't want to do. Of course they're going to do that. They're not flawless. And if you forgive them for the little things, they'll forgive you for the little things. :)
    (In theory.)

    And -
you do worry about this more than me. But that isn't a bad thing. I mean . . . for example, if you're always striving to be perfect, that's bad because you're going to be unhappy a lot of the time, but it does mean that as a result you'll end up being a lot better than people who don't care, so then you can feel proud of yourself and us people who didn't bother will just be sat here like . . . yeah . . .
    Caring is good. :)

    ReplyDelete
  163. Trip - in Mass Effect 2 if you fail a squad member's loyalty mission or choose the wrong option (you don't actually have to fail) - it can lead to the death of the character. And if it's the wrong character, it can cause another character to die. And then another. And then another. And then you'll die and your progress through the game has been lost and you can't continue to Mass Effect 3 because you're uh... dead.

Which is more of a penalty than ten places.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Basically, I'm not saying Mass Effect is bad. It's a great game which brought the concept of multiple endings to a game into the mainstream market. They're popping up everywhere now.

HOWEVER, I just came to explain the appeal of Mario Kart. It's the challenge, the fact that victory is never assured, and that there is always someone better than you. Those are my points, that's why.

    ReplyDelete
  165. @chi I really do know what you feel. I have two real friends that I get to see. Both are x boyfriends. You'll get through. If they're your friends sometimes they won't ask if you're okay because they don't see anything is wrong. And that's not because they are bad friends. It's because we're too good at hiding it. Please talk to me anytime you feel down. Because no one deserves to face this stuff alone. It's not a fun thing to do and I don't want anyone else going through it alone.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Trip, so... you just are thrown back a bit? Isn't that what Mass Effect does, too? You're set back?
I'm not sure why you and Dragona keep comparing those totally different games. I'm sitting here, imagening you two going 'But apples are way rounder!' 'But pears are less hard!' ^^
(We say 'It'd be like comparing apples and pears', here, as a saying.)

    ReplyDelete

"Happiness is five different crayons." Or anything you like. Everyone has something, for me it's my gerbils, for Chi Blake and Frozen.
Everyone deserves happiness. In Jekyll and Hyde, Lucy has a crap life, she doesn't have friends, she wants to be loved. Jekyll tells her to go and hide, and then Lucy sings happily of a new life.

Everyone deserves it, no matter who you are. So to happiness.

  171. @Chi: Also . . .
My mum told me about this young person she worked with once, and he was cooking something, and some other young people that he didn't know came up and asked him what he was doing. And they were genuinely being friendly and interested, but he just slammed the door in their faces, because he was so used to people being awful to him that he automatically assumed they were going to, and as such, he cut himself off from their friendship.
Love is an open door. Don't expect people to be not-your-friends. If a teacher thinks a kid is going to fail, they're more likely to fail.
    Mindset is everything. :)
