Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful? Isn't she precious?
The paperback will be released for everyone else on the 27th of March, and because we are very, very smart people, we will be releasing the paperback of The Maleficent Seven, which takes place BEFORE LSODM, on the 8th of May.
Just to confuse you.

For gods sake we Americans are lazy, now the one church is offering 'Drive Throu Ashes'
Brb dinner
(Also- if I had a nickel for every time Sir had to tell someone about Inuit slurs, I would be rich.
*Slithers back*)
Bye Silente!
SCROLL TO THE TOP OF THE PAGE AND SCROLL SLOWLY DOWN.
WATCH MY PROFILE PICTURE SLOWLY DEGRADE. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Stalk me! Stalk me!
@Star: ...your profile picture gets worse and worse...
Hi Trip!
I searched up the definition of stalking! Stalking is unwanted or obsessive attention by an individual or group toward another person. Stalking behaviors are related to harassment and intimidation and may include following the victim in person or monitoring them.
...
Fours Silente! :(
@Adra: YOU ARE RICH IN THE WAYS THAT MATTER
AND THAT IS WHAT MATTERS. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Amethyst: Ah, that sounds like some of Slipknot's songs . . .
oh wait :P
And - *hugs* :) Thanks.
Yeah, it gets worse and worse . . . :P
Blogger is so mystifying to me. :P
(I could reupload the picture, but watching the red fog descend is kinda fun. XD)
#ChaseForBookNine
*sigh*
I gotta go now :(
Bye...
Awr, bye Stalky!
I"M NOT STALKING ANYONE!
Of course.
Stalky.
Fours, Amethyst! :( :(
And, I never said you were. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Wait, Zafier is married again?!
#ChaseForBook9
*explodes back in*
Yes dear Ari they never actually divorced
Muahahaha! I'm back! Yay!
(Can you get married twice without divorcing?)
Hey Ari! :)
Wb, Amethyst :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Wait, what...? I know Zavel broke up, but they were married at one point, so wouldn't Zaf have had to be divorced?
#ChaseForBook9
(Well they thought it went through and remember they married in a different country
Someone faked it so they thought it was finalized, it never was so its cimplicated and yeah
*curls up
Oh. And she's decided to trust him again, and everything?
#ChaseForBook9
Yay! Wb stalky.
...*glare*
Okay guys! Now I'm leaving for reals... I have to go work on a lab report... :(
Its been a while since they actually trusted each other. He's proven himself and she agreed so she still is a bit weary but she trusts him
*laughs* K lol bye.
Stalky.
Hello?????
*explodes England*
Goodbye, Amethyst.
Hm. Well, that's interesting, Zaf.
Hello Edward, Trip.
#ChaseForBook9
Olivia: Hi Ari!!! My little brother is talking now
I poofed a lot there.
Oh, that's lovely, Olivia! What was his first word?
Hello, Chione! *hugs*
#ChaseForBook9
Olivia: Momma. That was his first word. He is sooooo cute!! Mom said she'll let him come play outside when he can walk better! I'm trying to teach him to say my name.
*smiles* That sounds wonderful. How have you been, and how have Zaf and Alexis been recovering from the other night? And last night, I suppose- she just jumped right back into fighting...
#ChaseForBook9
Olivia: Mom isnt doing too well. She's still in shock. I think she's having dreams about Alastair. She's so scared of him. He must have petrified her if she's this affected months later.
Mergh i gots to go to church be back later
Fabi walks through the shopping mall, wearing a coat that is probably not the latest fashion, but is at least late enough that it doesn't make her stand out in the crowd of stylish people. Also, a scarf. Scarves are perhaps the one element of fashion she understands.
She passes some stylish clothing shops with stylish names, and a stylish ice cream parlor, stopping for a moment, before continuing. Ice cream break later.
The sign is in flowing calligraphy: Aquamarina's Vacation Planning. There I in Aquamarina is a smiling sun wearing sunglasses.
Fabi enters and grabs a few brochures. She nods to lady at the table and begins flipping through the brochures until she finds what she's looking for.
Oh, alright, see you later.
I'm still here, just very distant.
#ChaseForBook9
Ooh! More of Fabi's plot!
#ChaseForBook9
I'm bored *sigh*
Yeah. I have some nasty plans...
Just not sure how to make them work.
Miss Cross probably needs to make another appearance, soon...
I'm sorry to hear that, Chione.
I have no one to talk to >.> my bf is sleeping my friends are out and I'm dying of thirst but don't want to wake anyone up
Well, if you're that thirsty, you should get some water...
"Strawberry Isle?" The saleslady raises an eyebrow, and Fabi gets the impression that Strawberry Isle is perhaps not the most popular. Even better, then.
"Yes, please."
"Do you have family in the area?"
Fabi sighs and shakes her head. Time to feed the nosy saleslady a story. "No. I'm just looking for a quiet place to work on my next novel."
"Ah, an author, then." This seems to justify Fabi's apparent uncool-ness. The woman takes her money and gives her her transportation and hotel info.
Heh. Authors are excused from following social conventions. They're totally not uncool, though. :p
#ChaseForBook9
XD
The saleslady probably had an element of stereotype, tbh.
I'm gonna go. I have school lol I need sleep *hugs* night people
Chi, if you're still here, you can talk to us. :)
I miss those involved, elaborate, plot-based roleplays... They still happen, but we seem to each be going through our own individual plots now instead of working with each other. Maybe it's because our sense of community has faded, maybe the separation was a cause of the loss of community. I could try to think up something to bring us all together again, but I don't think it'd work very well, because people are so involved in their own plots, no one has the time/energy to spend on things other than what they're currently doing.
#ChaseForBook9
Oh, alright- goodnight, then, Chi. *hugs*
It was really nice to hear that Em's recovering- I still miss Mara, though.
#ChaseForBook9
I'd try to join, but everyone has their own agenda, their own things they want to do, and it'd never be the same after some of what's already happened.
I keep feeling like I should be doing something to help someone...
Only I can't.
And it's driving me insane.
Fabi sits in the stylish ice cream parlor, eating chocolate-cherry ice cream.
She goes through every element of her plan again, and tries to convince that one last part of her mind that it's the right thing to do.
She watches mutely as a short woman in a hat and sunglasses enters the travel agency. Suddenly, her ice cream isn't nearly as appetizing.
Sometimes I think of starting another collaboration, and this time all the people who were too late for the MC could join because it'd be new and all- but then I think of TSE, and that hasn't really brought people together. And I don't think it's because of the nature of the blog or the idea- I think it's the same problem as the roleplay. There aren't as many authors as there were for the MC- blame it on diminished sense of community, and by extension, less promotion. And people aren't writing as much for it as they did for the MC- blame it on not that many authors, not that much publicity (see above), and people being busy. I myself ought to write a lot more for it, but I agreed to collab with Adra, and that limited me to what I could write with her, and she already had an obligation to Trip, so it was tricky. I think I'll go write more for that now, though, because my bit with Adra is coming along well, and I'd like to do my part to try and breathe some life into it. I can't let Moss be the only one who writes consistently for it. ;)
#ChaseForBook9
I was kinda quiet about it, though... Maybe if someone else had come up with the idea, it'd have gone better.
No, I don't think so. I mean, anything is possible, so maybe, but you came up with the idea rather than anyone else, because you're you. And you being you doesn't give your idea any less value. :)
If you want more people to join it, I could start promoting it, or just talking about it a lot to just generate excitement, but I think the main reasons for it not being as prolific as the MC were what I listed above, stemming from weakness of community.
#ChaseForBook9
[Shrugs]
It probably would've helped if I'd made it so other people could write while the idea was still new and exciting, but yeah, thanks.
[A shadow moves in a dark corner of Blogland]

Bye Snow, sorry I poofed!
Mom started talking to me.

Meh. It's a bit messy. I'll fix it later. Sleep is beckoning, and I am tempted. *hugs Moss, and any ghosters*

I can't seem to find Henry... D:
And as soon as I post that, he turns up.
He'd fallen behind the bookshelf.
*hugs fabi and gives henry a cookie* he likes blogland, so he appeared when you came on *nods*
That must be it. :-)
He's back on top of the cabinet. It's his watchpost.
He also likes on top of the bookshelf or hanging from the hook on the ceiling in the playroom.
Places where he can keep an eye on things.
Just wanted to say that i need some time to think...
i might not be here for a while, a few days or weeks. but, at the same time, i might be back in an hour. i just dont know. :) *hugs all*
When Star woke up, it was dark. She closed her eyes and opened them, finding the lack of difference between the two states freaky, and then closed them again, deciding to go to sleep. Mmh. She was tired. What time did she have to get up at today . . . ?
Her memory drew a blank, and that was when Star remembered. She had no memory.
Her eyes snapped open. Then she realised that was pointless and closed them again.
Her mind was so very sleepy . . . it would be nice to just leave the fog as a fog and untangle it later . . .
But no. She had to work it out. How had she got here?
She remembered being in the forest. Yeah. She remembered not remembering and then she remembered trying to get out of the forest. Climbing the trees. Yeah. That. Sleepy . . .
Um, yeah . . .
Star dragged her mind back into thinking mode. Okay. So she'd remembered the forest.
Anyway else?
Apparently not. Her one isolated moment of memory shone out like a beacon amongst the blank fog surrounding it. It was a pity the beacon wasn't a bit more worthwhile. I mean, wandering around lost in a forest. What kind of memory was that?
She thought back to the end of the forest memory, but the path just seemed to walk into dark blankness, indecipherable, much the same way as it had begun.
And where was she now?
She remembered waking up. She remembered that much.
SHE DIDN'T USUALLY SLEEP IN PLACES THIS DARK. She remembered that as well.
VICTORY.
(Sort of.)
She might have to stand up and walk around the room, feeling her way, finding out where she was by touch.
She wasn't sure if she could be bothered to do that, though. She'd rather just go back to sleep . . .
#ChaseForBookNine
@Snow: :( *hugs*
If you're not here, we'll miss you . . . but if you go, that's okay, it's your decision. :) :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Hello all
*pops back to point out my picture to star* *disappears again*
Anyone out there?
Huh... apparently not. Okay, I'm gone then too...
Anyone here? Mithria?
Hey anyone on? Mir? Star? Amethyst? Zaf? Dragon? Adra? Trip? Sir? Annika? Other?
Chio?
OH MY GOSH I LOVE SNOW SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *screams*
WELL
I DID BEFORE
BUT I THINK A PROFESSION OF MY LOVE IS NEEDED FOR THIS OCCASION.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
#ChaseForBookNine
(In case anyone was wondering, I was attempting to scare my profile picture into submission. I think it worked. :P)
#ChaseForBookNine
Er so hey star. Yeah your picture seems better now. And snows cools.
Oh no, it's a Star!
[Trembles in fear]
Hey moss!
How are you both?
@Silente: I reuploaded it. :P
SNOW IS VERY COOL.
SHE'S SO COOL, SHE'S PRACTICALLY FREEZING.
WHICH IS GOOD, BECAUSE IF SHE WERE WARM, SHE WOULD MELT. :) :)
*dances manically around the trembling* YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Well, I'm glad that method worked for you.
Hi Silente. :-)
(I've been hyper today, as well. :P)
(THIS IS BECOMING A HABIT.)
(A scary one, of course.)
(For I am SCARY.)
(*nods at profile picture* Fear me.)
#ChaseForBookNine
Oh no, not the maniacal dancing!
SAAAAAAVEEEE UUUSSS
Not hyper! A hyper star is a scary star!
*trembles in fear*
ALRIGHT.
THAT'S IT. I'M DONE. I. AM. DONE.
Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett,
I just-
I can't handle them anymore. I can't.
I CAN'T HANDLE the fact that they wrote a book together before they became world-famous best-selling authors.
I CAN'T HANDLE the fact that Neil Gaiman wrote about two badass assassins called Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar, then named them The Old Firm, whilst Terry Pratchett simultaneously wrote two badass assassins and named them The New Firm.
I CAN'T HANDLE the fact that the Death in Neil Gaiman's universe is the same Death as in Terry Pratchett's universe.
I just-
I just can't-
They're just too cool for words, and it HURTS MY SOUL!
AUGH!
*coughs*
*adjusts hat*
Hullo, Blogland.
*nods curtly*
@Lantern: :)
Today, we had Games. After we got changed, they sent us into the hall and asked us if we would like to do a dance off.
People gave an interested little "Ooh!"
Me and my friends were just like NO. NOT 'APPENIN'.
My friend B said they could give her a detention if they wanted, but she wasn't doing it.
I said that I'd never actually had a detention . . .
C said that I had to have one.
I asked, WHY.
She said because it was on the school bucketlist on the things you have to have.
B asked C if C'd had a detention, and C went, well, no, but . . . :P
B was like, well, there you go, then.
And C was saying how if she did get a detention, she'd want it to me for something spectacular that would be rememebered, and she and B were nodding and we were discussing setting the school on fire.
And anyway, then the Games teacher stood on the steps going up to the stage and said that we could either go out and play basketball in the FREEZING cold, or we could do a dance-off in groups.
And B was like, I think today might be the day I get a detention, because I am not dancing.
And we were just like nodding and saying no way, we weren't doing it, nope.
And I said I would rather be outside freezing than dancing.
And the bitchy girl in front of me was like ME TOOOOOOOOOO and grabbed by wrist and waved our arms up in the air (what).
And then the Games teachers said we would do a vote.
Only about seven of us actually voted for the dance off, so outside in the freezing cold we went. :P
And I just find that rather amusing, that we would rather freeze than dance. :P We would suffer that discomfort rather than look like idiots.
I'm not entirely sure what that shows, but it definitely shows something.
(We would be perfectly fine doing Just Dance or something, by the way. I think it's partially the fact we have to invent a dance and mostly the fact that we have to perform it with people looking at us.)
(I heard variations of the phrase "I hate dancing in front of people" a few times from the crowd of girls I was surrounded by.)
#ChaseForBookNine
*nods back* annika.
*nods back* Silente.
Hello Annika.
@Annika: That is COOL. O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O
And - I know how you feel. XD
@Silente: YES.
TREMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
*growls scarily*
#ChaseForBookNine
*looks at star* I'm fairly certain burning you school would get you EXPELLED, not put in detention.
*nods at Moss* Moss Cryptic (Fabi.)
*nods at Star* A-Scary-Star-Inkbright-Rawwwwwwwwwwwwwr-Fear-Me.
*trembles again in fear and takes a step back from star*
@Silente: Oh, not burning it. Just, like, setting fire to something.
And we'd probably only get excluded. *shrugs*
(We could just set the fire alarm off. People generally get excluded when they set that off for no reason.)
(Bear in mind, I'm not actually DOING any of this. Even people as scary as me feel fear. :P)
#ChaseForBookNine
*TAKES A STEP TOWARDS SILENTE*
*A SCARY STEP, OF COURSE*
*nods scarily at Annika*
#ChaseFoBookNine
*gives Star the most frigid of stares*
*and nods*
*nods noddily*
#ChaseForBookNine
*takes another slight step back *
*hands twitch* back up star.
*nods bobble-head style*
Wbd, I think . . .
I have scary activities to partake in.
#ChaseForBookNine
*nods noddle-head style*
Back up, Silente?
*backs up in reverse*
#ChaseForBookNine
[Glides backwards, away from the scariness]
[Bumps into a tree]
Ow!
[Hopes Scary Star didn't hear that]
[Tries to sneak around the tree]
I have fought a silly-hat duel with Trip,
and a thesaurus duel with Sir.
I refuse to get into a nodding duel with you.
*nods curtly*
(Watch the trees. They plot against you.
Then
when you're scared and unawared and scared and more scared
they kidnap you
scarily
but not as scarily as me.)
#ChaseForBookNine
WELL THEN. *nods in an aura of finality*
*a scary one, of course*
#ChaseForBookNine
*steps away from star again*
*looks behind her*
*sees one of the trees*
*puts her back to it*
*nods defiantly*
*turns on heel*
*and marches off to the nearest slushy shop before Star can nod back*
(EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK)
[Insert spine-chilling fear here]
*BACKS UP IN REVERSE TOWARDS SILENTE AND THE TREE*
#ChaseForBookNine
*nods glaringly at the slushy shop*
(Is your spine as cool as Snow?)
#ChaseForBookNine
I DEDICATE THIS PAGE TO SCARINESS.
MAY ITS REIGN OF FEAR CONTINUE!
#ChaseForBookNine
*or maybe I glared noddingly*
*idk*
#ChaseForBookNine
*jumps and scurries up the tree*
*sits in the snow ladden branches*
*looks down at snow * stay away scary star.
*returns with a blue raspberry slushy*
*sips it contentedly*
Love is like a slushy. It is delicious while you have it, but when it is gone, you are bereft, despairing, several pounds fatter, and rather worse-off than you were before.
(Probably not)
That was a very good comparison annika
Yes, I've got a whole love-is-like-a-slushie theory.
#ChaseForBook9
*sneaks up behind Silente and jumps on her*
Boo!
Hey everyone.
LALALALALALA
HAPPY
HAPPY
HAPPY
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY,
JIM
#ChaseForBook9
Ahh! *falls out of the tree*
*lands on star*
*glares up at chio* yeah hey, funny chio
*stands up and brushes off*
Not!
*laughs and dangles her legs off the edge of the branch*
@Annika: Yeah. :) I added something to it, but it works best with chocolate, I think.
Sorry I poofed . . . I had a piece of writing I really wanted to write.
I thought it out in my head earlier and I like the way I did it.
I'm not sure whether to go into deep levels of analysis, though, or if that would ruin it and I should just leave that to the reader. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Yeah no not funny!
*jumps and grabs Chios feet*
*falls, pulling chio down*
*both land in a snow drift*
Hey.
"Like landing on a pillow"
Yes, it is like landing in a pillow. But still, I got to pull you down from the tree.
*climbs out of snowdrift*
*shakes off remaining snow*
(Nobody ever analyses writing in this much detail, though, unless it's in an English assessment or whatever.)
(Ah, well.)
(It's there, I guess, even if nobody sees it. All my metaphors and references.)
#ChaseForBookNine
*continues lying in the snow*
*looks down at chio* why are you just laying there? Need help up?
*offers hand*
@star you know your writing better than me and this is just a suggestion. Put a little analysis but don't go Ott. Try to sum it up in less words.
Mom panics so much when I lose things...
[Not here]
I'm just...you know...chillin.
Hello.
Hey dragona
Hey dragon!
*keeps hand out * chillin, huh? You sure your not stuck?
@Silente: I'm not analysing. I'm just leaving the possibility for it. You know when you do an English assessment and you're writing this essay and you say all these things like how the weather is a metaphor for the situation and the fact that he says "look on" rather than "look at" and what that implies, and then you talk about all these individual things and how this could mean this.
And anyway.
If anyone does an English assessment on my writing
which they never will
(I mean, never say never, but)
then I'm sure they'll find a lot of things to analyse. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
BBS food
('Look on' generally implies a more examining look than 'look at', though. Because when you 'look on' something . . . it more suggests looking from above, like 'look down on', and it's like . . . it brings to mind a king, looking on his kingdom, staring at the view from afar. You do stare at views, and examine them. And also it's kind of a progress-check word, like "I'll check on", and that kinds of be kind of detailed.
Where as 'look at' is kind of a sideways look, which makes it two-dimensional and flat, and that not only makes it more flat - which also implies less substance and detail and brick-wall ness (and brick walls have connotations of sudden dead ends, no possibilities, and the lack of possibilities also implies briefness and lack of substance), but it also suggests a glance. "I glanced at" - that phrase is often used, and glances are more brief. A kind would not look at his kingdom - that would imply a kind of review of the situation, and reviews are REviews - not views, and not the original, detailed view, just a check-up, a reflection. With 'look on', you have the original flection, and you stare at it in detail.
And I did mean to go into a brief, structured version of that in my essay, but then I realised it was totally irrelevant to the point, so . . . :P)
#ChaseForBookNine
I think "look on" something seems more like giving a sense of awe. I don't tend to use it.
(Also, it's Shakespearan English. The 'look on' could have just been a cultural thing. *sighs*)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Dragona: Thank you. *nods*
Look on - gazing at a view, sense of awe. Look at - glance at.
Romeo was saying about looking on Juliet, though, so the analysis of that verb in that way was slightly appropriate. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Also, we should fear you, Star? ^^
Yes. Yes you should fear her for she is a scary star inkbright of amazing bubbleness.
Oh and back.
Food brb.
BYE DRAGON! Is it me or is blogland a bit slowwwwwwww today?
YES.
YOU SHOULD FEAR ME.
*nods*
*and nods at Silente for knowing her stuff*
"Grammar is the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit."
Haha. :P
Sorry for poofing, dinner occurred . . .
#ChaseForBookNine
IT'S A BIT SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW TODAY. D:
#ChaseForBookNine
That's fine star. Have you seen the 'grammer saves lives!' The one with the two sentences 'let's eat, grandma' and 'let's eat grandma'
Just a bit slowwwwwwwwwww :(
Where did chio go? Is she stil in that snowdrift?
@Silente: Yep. C: We have that on a wall at my school. They've transformed a few corridors to have walls like that . . . this one was an English wall, as it was in the English block. It says "PUNCTUATION SAVES LIVES", though, rather than grammar. :P
Urgh.
At rockclimbing they have these little things attached to the wall saying stuff like "holds may spin" and "check your harness" and one says "check your partners knot" and it annoys me SO MUCH because THERE SHOULD BE AN APOSTROPHE THERE.
Urgh.
I just want to smash it. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
I blame her attention span. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
I GOT COMMENT 4444!
If you take a digit off that and then increase all the digits by two, that's 666.
IF YOU'RE 555 THEN I'M SIX SIX SIX
(WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE A HERETIC?)
#ChaseForBookNine
S l o w can sometimes be good. :)
It's sort of lethargic and comfortable. Restful.
#ChaseForBookNine
She does have a remarkably short attention span.
And with words containing an s at the end I never know if its apostrophy or no.
I'm not going to make a speech, though I could.
I'm not going to go of on a rant, though I could.
I'll just condense it into a few words:
Skulduggery Pleasant has changed my life.
I cannot recall a series that has connected with me more, or given me everything I want out of a book. I would not have met and become friends with any of you if it weren't for these books. No books have inspired and enthralled me as much as these books have. I have never failed to pre-order each book at the first opportunity, which I have never done with any other series. I've even gone so far as to track down a used bookshop in London, where I ordered the novella he wrote for world book day.
Some people say Harry Potter is their childhood. My childhood was Skulduggery Pleasant.
SILENTE! *sighs*
*is a bit of a Grammar Nazi about apostrophes*
Apostrophes show omission or possession.
For example, you use them in 'can't' because it is shortened from 'can not' - the 'n and the 'o' has been omitted, and the apostrophe represents those omitted letters.
For possession - you use them when saying 'Star's scariness' because the scariness belongs to Star.
You don't use them when using plurals.
One bubble, two bubbles.
Not two bubble's, because there are no missing letters and the bubble isn't possessing anything in that sentence.
However, there are a few abnormalities, but only a few. For possessives such as 'its' and 'yours', apostrophes are not used - 'it's' ALWAYS means 'it is'.
Those are the ONLY exceptions.
Furthermore, the thing possessing does not have to be a person. 'The book's colour was a tad abnormal' - the colour is the property of the book.
*sorry*
*I'm a tad OCD about apostrophes*
*It's the only grammar thing that really gets on my nerves*
*although I DO tend to go through all my worksheets correcting the grammar on them*
*on my non-calculator maths test, it said "None-calculator" on the front*
*urgh*
*no*
*I know he's a maths teacher, but STILL*
*so I corrected it*
*yes*
*looking a bit insane here*
#ChaseForBookNine
If I, in my tenure as a Bloglander, have given anyone the impression that I do not care deeply about grammar and punctuation, then I have failed as a person.
@Annika: :) :) :) *hugs*
Beautiful speech. :)
I could rant about how people admire things in different ways and how they show love in different ways and then link that back to Osmosis, but meh, I'm not sure I can be bothered and it's not especially worthwhile reading anyway. :P
They are amazing books, though.
And you know . . . you know when you read a book that someone has recommended to you, and you can see, knowing that person, why they like it?
With Skulduggery Pleasant, obviously all my online friends like it, so it's really interesting, seeing what it gives to different people on different levels, and I'M VERGING INTO RANTING HERE BUT anyway, I can really see why you like it, Anni. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Only a little insane star. But a little insane is a o kay to me!
Annika that was a great mim speach!
@Annika: You haven't failed as a person. You've failed as . . . something. *waves hand vaguely in the direction of the unfinished thought, giving up*
You haven't given that impression, though.
#ChaseForBookNine
*mini not mim
For months, literally months, I walked past Scepter of the Ancients on a shelf at my library, and scoffed at it every time.
"A walking, talking skeleton? Who throws fireballs? And solves crime? Congrats, Mr. Landy, you've taken trying too hard to a new level."
But one day, I decided to sit down and read it, for the sole purpose of mocking it with my friends at a later date.
And thus, my life was changed forever, and I realized how wrong I'd been. From the first sentence:
"Gordon Edgely's sudden death came as a shock to everyone- not least himself."
I knew I was in love.
I apologize for getting all misty-eyed there. I just felt it needed to be said: These books mean so much to me.
I own them all already, but after the series is through, I'm sure they'll come out with a boxed set, and no matter how expensive it is, I'm buying it. All my Skulduggery Pleasant books are tragically mis-matched.
With me . . . I tend to get deeply obsessed with things. :P And I've noticed that I tend to get strongly obsessed with something, and that, after a time, thankfully passes, and then it just grows into deep respect and admiration for the thing I was obsessed with.
Because, whether I'm obsessed with it or not, it's still awesome.
And you can actually . . . you can actually discover things you admire more than things you have been obsessed with and not be obsessed with THEM.
Obsession is an odd thing.
And a horrible thing.
It's horrible, because you just seem to spend every moment thinking about it, and it's just . . . it's a kind of strained kind of feeling, because there's no solution. It's not like being thirsty, and then you take a drink, and then you're not thirsty and you can stop thinking about it. It just sort of goes on and on, and you realise that it's pointless and you should be spending your life doing more worthwhile things, but your mind just keeps thinking about it, and the more you come into contact with it, the worse it gets, but you want to come into contact with it because obviously it's awesome.
But yes.
If I had a point, I've forgotten it. :P

Well your story kinda proves the 'don't judge a book by its cover'
I was introduced to it at school, we had reading sessions in primary school. But yeah he (the book teacher person) introduced it to us. At first I don't think I got into it. I completely forgot to do my homework of reading the troll on the bridge chapter fr homework and had to awkwardly face being asked what I though about tanith not knowing who the hell she was. ( he clearly knew i hadn't read it) So I read it back at home, caught up and fell in love. Its the first book I remember actually reading on my own. :-)
I have never liked the feeling of being obsessed with something, or being in love with something. I thought I was in love, once, but I was mistaken. I'm glad of that, though, because being in love feels absolutely wretched.
Well, bear in mind that the American covers are absolutely ghastly. Nothing like the UK covers.
Really? I didn't even know they had different covers.
Oh yes, the American ones aren't . . . they're not BAD, but compared to the UK ones they're just silly.
Poor you guys
@Silente: Really? O_O
You see, I grew up reading. Books were pretty much my entire life until I was about fourteen. Now they have to share with people and thinking and music. It's getting rather crowded. :P
I always intended to read Skulduggery Pleasant for a few years before I did . . . I mean, they had really cool covers, so . . . :P
Then I read the blurb and it seemed cool so I was like huh, so I got it out of the library.
Then I was like O_O this is cool.
It like three years ago, so my memory is failing a bit . . . but I remember I was reading and I was like woah, this is cool.
And then I was looking on the website some amount of time later and I saw the link to this blog and I started reading and BAM, my life changed foREVer.
(Skulduggery Pleasant as a book series did change my life, but it didn't. I mean, my life was already basically filled with book obsession, so that didn't make much difference, sadly. It's just the thing I was obsessed WITH that changed.)
@Annika: Your know Luciana Clover Scáth (I called her Mushroom?)
Well, she collects Skulduggery Pleasant books, and last I checked, she had over 70. *laughs*
I have six paperbacks and four hardbacks. The hardbacks are the oldest ones, though, so they look beautifully ordered on my shelf.

*You know
URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
*screams at brain*
#ChaseForBookNine
*the hardbacks are the NEWEST ones

I think I said "Paypal" rather than "ParentPay" to the lady at reception at school, too.
Urgh.
DAMN THIS.

Oh my gosh, the blog.
So, I was following the blog for quite a while before I joined Blogland. I read backlog posts, and everything.
The first time I visited the blog, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if I'd like this 'Derek Landy' guy, I didn't know if the blog would be interesting at all, I just didn't know.
The day I started reading the blog was the day that he had posted the story about how he got locked in his office and had to bust his way out with a hammer.
And I said:
"Well, that's it! I'm sold! I'm a Minion!"
And I continued on my merry way.
@Annika: Oh, that was an ACE blog post. XD XD
#ChaseForBookNine
I don't remember when I join the blog. I thing I read them for a long time first. Then I wanted to comment but I couldn't. Then I got annoyed, set up a gmail and joined! Met all you nutters and became a minion instead of a skuttle-bug (the Facebook fans are skuttle-bugs)
You know, in the Inkheart trilogy, it was saying about how you never really thought about the authors, and how you think of most authors as dead or very very old, and how Meggie didn't even know the authors of some of her favourites stories, and I'm just like - "Uh. What. WHAT IS THIS MADNESS."
My Ipswich friend had a Skulduggery Pleasant POSTER (she had a lot of posters, though. Her walls were FULL. It was glorious. Plus she had a cardboard cutout of Benedict Cumberbatch. With bullet holes in it), and . . . yeah, and we had a conversation about how ace Derek was as a person. :)

Derek Landy is definitely one of my favorite authors of all time, just as a person. Another one that I love is Scott Westerfeld, because I follow his blog too, and he acts the way I would likely act if I ever became a best-selling author. Occasionally he posts about important, writerly business, but usually he posts stuff like OMG OMG LOOK AT THIS CAT THIS CAT LOOKS JUST LIKE THIS CHARACTER THAT I WROTE OMG.
I have my Maleficent Seven poster on my wall, and it's one of my favorite things. I love it.
I know people who know Skuttlebugs. :) :)
When I discovered here I was just like I WANT TO COMMENT HERE. So I went to great lengths to attempt it, me being me. I get stuck on things, don't I? *sighs*
