Look what arrived a few days ago...
Ohhh, all those lovely Doctor Who stories, all in one place! And look what ELSE arrived in the same box...
Toys! Wonderful, wonderful TOYS!
I was indeed a happy writer.
So what else have I been up to lately? Well, I've been writing, amazingly enough. I have taken two weeks off Book Nine to focus on coming up with new stories for Armageddon-Outta-Here (haw!) which'll be out next summer.
As a sample of what the new stories will feature, we're talking the Dead Men in the Wild West, the story of how Valkyrie met Caelan, a Billy-Ray Sanguine solo adventure, and Skulduggery Pleasant and Gordon Edgley at a horror-themed masquerade ball, set 25 years ago.
Time is tight, deadlines are onrushing, but I'm having FUN, so none of it seems quite like work. And hopefully it never will.
1st?
ReplyDeletelol yay for toys!!! Can never have too many of those :D
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about Armageddon-outta-here :D (lol awesome title btw)
And yay for book 9!!!! Can't wait to read it, and also wish it wouldn't come so that this series can go on forever :D Though, unfortunately, it wont :'( I'm coming to terms with that.... I'm WORKING on coming to terms with that.
congrats Aisling!
ReplyDelete*hands victory cookie*
ReplyDeleteOoh lucky Derek getting sent toys. I can't wait for Armageddon-outta-here!!!

#ChaseForBook9
OH MY GOSH.
ReplyDeleteDEREK LANDY and PATRICK NESS and EOIN COLFER???
:O
*dies of awesomeness*
And Alex Scarrow is good too. :) And didn't Phillip Reeve write The Mortal Engines? Yahahah, I know him, then! Although I read those books to long ago to give an accurate rating on them!
Charlie Higson - I really want to read that saga of books of his that begins with The Enemy, but The Enemy hasn't been in the library the last few times I've checked!
In English when we had to bring in a reading book, the boy opposite me didn't so he got one of the few books in the classroom, and it was The Enemy, and I asked if I could read the blurb and then I just sort of went into slight fangirl mode. I was sad when he had to put it back at the end of the lesson. :(
Anyway, yes. They seem like cool books. :)
Malorie Blackman . . . she wrote those books my friend was reading. :) Never ead any of her books.
And I don't know the others. :P
BUT STILL. I did totally NOT expect to have so MANY awesome writers write for this thingy!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhh! D:
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey, Mara! *hugs* :)
ReplyDeleteHi there, Eilís! :)
Also the laptop mousepad is getting really confused, so the page keep zooming and resizing drastically instead of just moving the mouse, so it's really hard to do stuff, so I may be slow responding. *nods*
#ChaseForBook9
Ohhhhhhhhh my gosh. :) :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my gosh.
OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *screams*
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DAMMIT. D:

#ChaseForBookNine
Hellooooo people!
ReplyDeleteThe kitty says hi, too!

#ChaseForBook9
Malorie Blackman :o
ReplyDeleteShe wrote a really good book we had to read in school :)))
I can't read these though because I don't watch Doctor Who. So. um.
@Taia: Okay. :(
ReplyDeleteArghhhhhhhhhhhhh dammit. D:
HOW THE DOCTOR WHO PEOPLE GET THIS MANY GOOD WRITERS ALL TOGETHER??????????????????
#ChaseForBookNine

ReplyDeleteJesy is so perfectionary omg➡️
Star - yep :) it was called Cloud Busting I think. It was all written in poetry form. It was nice.
ReplyDeleteGreat news Derek!! Cannit wait 2 read it
ReplyDeleteOkay, Taia [hugs]
ReplyDelete[Nods] Jesy is amazing. :-)
#ChaseForBook9
@Mara: Awesome. :)
ReplyDelete@Mara: :)
@Lantern: :)
@Taia: Okay. :)
#ChaseFOrBookNine
@Star: IK! But if Patrick Ness does to DW anything like how CHaos Walking went I am going to cry. A LOT. :P
ReplyDelete@Mara: You could probably read them anyway? But it's up to you, I guess, whether or not you want to. bc if you didn't want to, there'd be little point in reading them, I guess. :)
#ChaseForBook9
@Taia: DON'T EVEN MAKE ME THINK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES. D:
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
Also HEY FABI. HEY TINY BOUNCING KITTEN. HEY STAR. :)
ReplyDelete*hugs erryone* :)
#CHaseForBook9
Hemingway, Taia. :)
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
DYNASTY! HEY! :)
ReplyDelete@Star: *grins* You remember my greeting more than I do. xD
#ChaseForBook9
Hello Taia!!!! :) :) ¡¡
ReplyDeleteHmm... The kitty needs a name...
ReplyDeleteEffie (Because Effie meowed and tried to climb up the curtains. Also because Saph)
Jesy (Because Jesy is perfect and totally deserves having a Heli-kitty named after her)
Jade (Ditto. Though idk about Jade the kitty with Jadis the dolphin, so...))
Perrie ((Again, ditto))
Leigh-Anne ((Same reasoning!))
Clarabelle ((Because.))
Those are what I've come up with so far!
#ChaseForBook9
@Fabi: DON'T ASK ME! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, not Jade because Jadis the dolphin, but the others are about balanced . . . :P
@Taia: I can remember stuff sometimes. :) And other times I can't. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Or a Glitch-themed name like Juju or Esquibeth...
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBook9
Lay with me beside the fire
ReplyDeleteCalm your soul and my desire
Keep me safe I’ll keep you warm
Love me till we love no more
Sing my carols seamlessly
Silent night on Christmas Eve
Hold me till the bells awake
So in love on Christmas day
Oh Christmas day
So the angels they bring us hope
Under the mistletoe there’s piece on earth
I know the spirit will never leave
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
All the family gathers around
Sharing stories all year round
As we watch the snow fall to the ground
A white Christmas I have finally found
I finally found
So the angels they bring us hope
Under the mistletoe there’s piece on earth
I know the spirit will never leave
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
So the angels they bring us hope
Under the mistletoe there’s piece on earth
I know the spirit will never leave
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
And then we always love on Christmas Eve
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. :-P
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBook9
@Eilís: :)
ReplyDeleteHow are y'all? :)
@Fabiulous: *grins* They're all great names - don't know how I'd choose, though D: / :P / :)
Golden God, though, the tiny bouncing kitty is the CUTEST. x3 I just look up and my eyes catch it on the screen and a smiles just grows on my face and I can't look away until I have to because the smile is about to grow too heavy and fall off entirely. :P
#CHaseForBook9
@Taia
ReplyDeleteI'm overly happy!! You noticed me!!
#ChaseforBook9
ok, I keep forgetting im here lol :P
ReplyDeleteI think im gonna go now, bye all! *hands cookies*
Bye taia! *hugs* it was nice talking to u again :D even though it wasn't for very long :P Hope to talk to you soon, time zone allowing :P lol
@Eilís: I never notice anything. It took me almost a week to realise there was a paperchain decorating the ceiling of our living room. Don't be offended that I didn't notice you. :P
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
:( Fours Raven!
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
Hello Eilis.
ReplyDeleteHm... Well, Effie could be short for Esquibeth? Clarabelle would be SP-themed, and Perrie, Jesy and Leigh-Anne would be Little Mix-y! I think Perrie and Jesy are better names for a little kitty than Leigh-Anne, though...
#ChaseForBook9
Bye Raven!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cookie!
@Taia That's why it's still my profile pic, is because cuteness! :-)
#ChaseForBook9
@Eilís: *laughs* Yay! I tend to miss a lot of things, so I'm happy about that, too. :P And I'm also happy that you're happy, so maybe I'm overly happy, too. :)
ReplyDelete@Raven: :P *hugs back* You too. :) See you soon, hopefully! *hugs againnnn* Bye! *waves*
*noms cookie happily*
#ChaseForBook9
PRADA
ReplyDeleteLIKE ZERRIE'S CAT
@Star: xD
ReplyDelete@Fabi: Whichever you choose, it'll be great, because it's a great selection of names. :)
#ChaseForBook9
@Ink I'm not offended at all!! I like you're paper chain story! I tried to make paper chains once and I got stuck to it!! @Fabi HELLO! :)
ReplyDelete#ChaseforBook9
Mara, don't add to my list to choose from! D:
ReplyDeleteZERRIE THOUGH
#ChaseForBook9
@Eilís: Well, maybe paper chains like you. :)
ReplyDeleteGood about not-offendedness. :)
@Mara: GOOD IDEA. :)
@Lantern: What Taia said. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Sorry Fabi D:
ReplyDeleteI'd pick Jesy tbh but Perrie too... And Clarabelle is cute. And Effie is Effie! Argh
ZERRIE DAMN
Hiii Eilís :)
I had a friend called Eilís in primary school. :P
@Ink Maybe they do! I just kind of thought it was a paper chain army that was set out to kill me!! Your way is so much more positive.
ReplyDelete@Eilís: Thank you. We bubbles are all about being positive. :)
ReplyDeleteApart from when we're not.
But that's far to complicated for living organisms like humans to understand. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
IDK IDK IDK IDK
ReplyDeleteOkay.
Either Esquibeth (Effie!)
Or Jesy
I HAVE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THESE TWO AND IT WILL STAY THAT WAY
#ChaseForBook9
@Fabi: Awesome. I suppose that Esquibeth can have two variations, at least, with shortening to Effie and such. Which is good.
ReplyDeleteBut on the other hand, Jesy doesn't NEED shortening.
So still idk. :P
But maybe that helps.
Maybe.
#ChaseForBook9
Someone put music on downstairs, so now I a) can't concentrate and b) keep getting distracted listening to it. :P Dammit.
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
@Ink I'm usually positive except when paper chains are attacking me (or anything else). :)
ReplyDelete@Eilís: Ah, okay. Remind me not to attack you, then. :)
ReplyDeleteI can be very optimistic and very pessimistic, depending. :P
#ChaseForBookNine

#ChaseForBook9
Hey Adra! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, damn. I just had most of my English narrative written, and now I want to change it . . . :P
#ChaseForBookNine
@Ink when something attacks me my Ginja ninja senses attack! (Not me!) :D so if you attack someone and they attack back that'll be me warning you.
ReplyDelete@Taia: Sounds awesome. :)
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
Richelle Mead and Neil Gaiman I'm crying
ReplyDeleteHOWDY, ADRA! *hugs* :)
ReplyDeleteYou okay, thar?
@Star: Aw. :P I guess change is good because it'll be maybe better/more enjoyable if you go with what you want to do more? Or explore more ideas? Or something?
But keep the other one in case you change your mind, or something?
#ChaseForBook9
@Eilís: Okay. :)
ReplyDelete*decides not to attack anyone*
*because being attacked in return sounds less good*
#ChaseForBookNine
@Adra: I knew quite a few of the authors, but I didn't know them. Who're they? :)
ReplyDelete@Taia: Probably. :) I think the changed idea is better for English narrative purposes, but the other is a better story. The first one can hardly do detail at all though, in the time, so I might change it . . . :P *is just keeping writing for the moment*
#ChaseForBookNine
@Adra: IK. But Patrick Ness and Patrick NEss and Patrick NEss and I WILL be crying. xP
ReplyDelete@Star: REally? ~Thankies. :) It's not a very technical presentation, though, naturally. :P
#CHaseForBook9
@Ink *nods head aggreably*
ReplyDelete#chaseforbook9
Hey Star and Taiarawr!
ReplyDeleteRichelle Mead did the Vampire Academy- to which I am ashamed for reading but I LOVED IT IM SORRY I'M SHALLOW
ReplyDeleteand Neil Gaiman is one of the best writers ever of sci fi and he wrote a lot of Doctor Who episodes. (not a lot, but I think he did "The Doctor's Wife" when the TARDIS became a woman)
I recognised some of them, but I know I've definitely read from Derek (duh. :P), NEssie, and Gaiman. AND I enjoy all three muchly so YES.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think Colfer wrote Artemis Fowl, which Star likes and Star's awesome, so yesly. :)
#CHaseForBook9
@Eilís: *nods head agreeagreeagreeably* :)
ReplyDelete@Taia: :)
@Adra: Taiarawr. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Yeah Colfer is Artemis Fowl :P
ReplyDelete@Adra: AH I KNEW I RECOGNISED NEIL GAIMAN'S NAME FROM SOMEWHERE. :)
ReplyDeleteYay, then! :)
@Taia: He did write Artemis Fowl. :) Yay!
And Alex Scarrow wrote TimeRiders! :)
THIS IS ALL SO GOOD. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
I don't have a clue who that Derek guy is, though. :P
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
@Ink :D I like smiling. People call me Smiley.
ReplyDelete@Eilís: That's cool. :) Smiling is nice. :) It's happy. :)
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
I'll be disappearing in about twenty minutes....
ReplyDeleteDarlin' don't'cha go and
ReplyDeleteCut your hair,
Do you think it's gonna make him change?
"I'm just a boy with a new hair-
cut and that's a pretty nice hAIRcut."
(Malkmus' syllable placement though it's so perfectttttt I don't understand. )
@Adra/Star: Yay! :)
@Star: *laughs* :P
@Eilís: Smiling is good. *nods* :)
#CHaseForBook9
Jesquibeth? XD
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBook9
@Ink It is. People try to teach me to frown but it never works. :D
ReplyDelete@Lantern: *laughs* That'd be cool too. XD
ReplyDelete@Taia: :)
#ChaseForBookNine
*whispers* life
ReplyDelete@Adralary: Aw, 'kay. *hugggs*
ReplyDelete@Fabi: XD Yes? :P
#ChaseForBook9
@Taia :D *smiles* .
ReplyDelete@Maralie I only saw now that you had a friend called Eilís .. that's so cool... Nobody pronounces my name right. Derek did when I met him!!
ReplyDelete#chaseforbook9
@Eilís: Derek's awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd - frowning is overrated. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Hm... I meant it as sort of a joke, but I might actually pick it now...
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBook9
@Eilís: :)
ReplyDeleteHm.
I really want to write something.
But I have nothing in my head to write.
ANd I'm certain I have some kind of homework.
And if I don't then I should be revising.
But since I can't concentrate on those things ANYWAY, maybe it's excusable to take on the writing thing anyway?
I haven't done any writing in a LONG time. So it'd be nice to do some.
But revision is important.
But so is writing, at least for my mental health.
asdfgh.
Decisions. :P
#ChaseForBook9
@Taia: Whichever you pick, it'll be both a bad decision and a good decision, sooo . . . *hides*
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
@FabiFabiFabienne: *laughs* It's great when things accidentally work out like that. C:
ReplyDelete@Star: *tilts head* *nods*
*nods again*
That makes sense. Thanks, somehow. Idk if it helps, but I feel like thanks. :)
(PS-no need to hide, it's the truth, you just put it into words, which is no crime, but rather pretty good, really. :) )
#ChaseForBook9
@Ink it is, highly overrated.
ReplyDeleteDerek is awesome. I asked him was he going to make the monster hunters book that they asked Flecter to illistrate the one with all of the decapitated dead people but
sadly he's not.
#chaseforbook9
@Taia: Oh. Thanks. :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteRight. :) I have my first draft of my English written, but it's like 300 more words than I can write in the time and needs to be improved. :)
*goes gloomily to improve it*
#ChaseForBookNine
@Taia I had the same problem last week...then eventually I wrote a story during my exam! :)
ReplyDelete#chaseforbook9
Serious msd now..
ReplyDeleteHm.
So.
Life.
Yes.
OH! I'm exempt for my overall vocab quiz in my English class. My teacher did "the Hunger Games", and drew two names from a jar... And throughout the whole year we tried to get our names in there more and more with each perfect score per quiz. I got my name drawn,..
And now I don't have to take the test! Woo!
@Star: Yay! And, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think mine ended up only around 960-ish words, when I did it, but I guess you have different specifications and whatnot, maybe. We didn't have any kind of a word count, I don't think. But exam boards and stuff, so idk.
I managed in the time given though. I think. I don't remember how much of a rush it was, though.
But, looking at 'gloomily', I'll say if you're not enjoying what you're doing, it's a lot harder to do, in general. But improving makes it better which means more content with which means more enjoying/liking, so, idk what my point was supposed to be. :P

@Lantern: WEEDWHACKER!
ReplyDeleteAnd - :(
@Taia: Last time, mine was nine hundred and eighty-something words. This time, it's one thousand, three hundred and forty something. THat's too long for me to write in the time. :(
@Adra; Yay! :) And, that sounds like a good system. :) :)
@Eilís: Aw. :( Would like to read that. Derek IS awesome, though. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Adra: YAY! *cheers* Congratulations! C:
ReplyDelete@Eilís: *laughs* If only! :P

ReplyDeleteI NEVER SEE YOU ANYMORE!
#ChaseForBookNine
@Star: *nods* It's easy to get too lengthy when you don't want to. I wish you luck with the shortening down.
ReplyDeleteMy year nine one, AFTER I'd cut it down (by about 1300 words, I think) so it was even acceptable to hand in was over 3,400 words. xD
We didn't do those in controlled conditions, though. It was just an assignment task which was assessed but not for anything important. :P

I'M SO SORRY INK! *attacklehugs back* I MISS YOU GORGEOUS
ReplyDeleteHEY MITHRIA! :)
ReplyDelete@Star: *laughs* We had an hour in the year 10 C/A, i think. But the year nine obviously was longer. :P I was up until well gone the midnight writing it up over 8 pages of fine-ruled paper in REALLY SMALL WRITING, so it seemed like less, as I recall. xP
"Short stories are too short." - Yup. :P
Awh- Bye Inkness! *hugs*

Bye Star [hugs]

@Eilís: xP Thanks for the warning.
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBook9
@Taia no problem! :)
ReplyDelete#chaseforbook9
@Mushroom: I miss you tooooo. :(
ReplyDeleteBtw, your book has your name on the spine. It's so cool. :)
I just thought that earlier today, sooo . . . :P
@Taia: In your eight, we had to write a ghost story in as much time as we wanted. I did eight pages, typed, single space. :)
I went totally off-plan with it. :P
@Mara: D:
You're lucky you have people who'd text you, though. :P I never really text anyone, so nobody really texts me, and only like five people in school have my number . . . XD Five people out of 330 in the year group. Heh.
#ChaseForBookNine
Is a christmas tree on top of your "an accesory"?

It's such an odd word. :) It's glorious. :)

@Star: 8 pages on both sides, I mean. ;) / :P
ReplyDelete*grins*
We didn't do anything of the sort in year eight, as I recall, though. :P

ReplyDelete@Taia: dictionary.com isn't recognising it . . . :P
#ChaseForBookNine

ReplyDeleteThrust! Hi! :)
ReplyDelete@Star: *hands her a cookie* :/
Sometimes it's really hard to drop a word count, especially because as you remove words it sometimes could deteriorate the quality of the story, sometimes, kind of, because there aren't enough words for what's happening, and it's so difficult to get rid of phrases and things when you like them so much. I think that was partly why so little happened in mine, because it meant that I didn't have to cut things out, if I'm using a large number of words for such few occurrences, kind of?
But- maybe there's somethings you can get rid of and replace with other something/s, which give the same/similar effects, or different effects all together. And kind of pulling it apart into sections and arranging and experimenting.
And that way you're not getting rid of good sentences from every paragraph, but removing a paragraph and then adding different good sentences, kind of?
Just a suggestion, but I have no idea how it'd work out. ^^

@Lantern: That's really beautiful, and also :O, which just improves it. :)

[hugs Taia and Star]
ReplyDeleteThanks...
#ChaseForBook9
@Thrust: *laughs* :)
ReplyDelete@Taia: Good advice. :) Thank you.
*attempts*
#ChaseForBookNine
Fabi- that looks good! I don't get it, but it's cool.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm terrible at this whole staying active thing...
ReplyDeleteI'M SORRY GUYS
*hugs everyone and greets anyone I haven't yet greeted*
Thank you Thrust.
ReplyDelete[Nods] I don't suppose it makes very much sense. Oh well!
Hello, by the way. Nice to see you again.
#ChaseForBook9
@Star & Thrust: Thanks. I think it's great, too. :) / :P
ReplyDelete@Fabi: Holy cats, I love that. It's really... wow. It takes a while to work out what's going on and then you get it and read it how it's supposed to be read, looking from another angle, and wow Fabi that's so awesome it's just wow and beautiful and wow.
OMGG Fabi, I don't have words for that. I think it's so great. How did you even- aah! IT's so simple but complex and just alternatively existing and I love it.
Which I mean.
#CHaseForBook9
I JUST LOOKED UP 'illusion' IN THE ONLINE THESAURUS, AND ONE OF THE WORDS IT SUGGESTED WAS 'bubble'. :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteYAAAAY!
Another was 'figment of imagination'. :) *grins*

@Star @Taia it's for school and we're only allowed wear accessories (christmas related)so I thought of a christmas tree hat. The only problem now is making it so it's not too heavy. :)
ReplyDelete@Star: It could've been explained better on my part, probably, but if it helps, then I'm happy for it. :)
ReplyDelete@Luce: *laughs* No worries. :) *husg back* How're you doing?
#CHaseForBook9
:-) [hugs Taia]
ReplyDeleteI don't know... Didn't really plan it. It just started and then worked out...
#ChaseForBook9
Maybe you can add balloons at the top.
ReplyDelete@Taia: I've now got rid of seventy words. XD Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteStill around 300 more than I can manage, but . . . :P
@Lantern: Well . . . it's amazing. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
If that was in a story, I would just read that page over and over and remember it and tell people about it. :)
Funny . . . things seem different in story-terms . . .
I suppose because stories are stories. :)
@Mushroom: That's fine. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Eilís: Oh, right. Well, maybe you could get a couple of bits of tree-y branches or something, rather than an entire tree? That'd be lighter, I guess. :P
ReplyDeleteGood idea, though. I like trees. :)
I always kind of wanted to cut a series of holes in clothing and then thread a cable of Christmas lights along the inside, with the lights protruding from the gaps, but obvious flaws include the need to be plugged into a power supply, constantly, and also electrocution. :P
Sweet, Star! :)
#CHaseForBook9
@Eilís: Use a mini Christmas tree? A branch? :)
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
*hugs Fabi back*
ReplyDeleteSome of the best writing happens almost by accident, I think. It's great. :)
@Star: *cheers* It's a start, at least. :)
OOh! I like Thrust's idea! Balloons are fun! :)
#CHaseForBook9
@Taia: Oooh, an etherdemon could do that! :)
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
@Star: Etherdemon?
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBook9
@Taia good idea!! For the jumper you could just wheel around an extension cable and for electrocution wmm.... At least you'd be sparkly.
ReplyDelete@Taia: What Hunter is. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think Hunter'd do it, though.
They can convert energy, so they wouldn't get electrocuted (in theory. If they weren't focusing . . .), and they could just charge the lights from their own energy. :)
It'd be fairly exhausting, though. :(
#ChaseForBookNine
Damn. Gotta go.
ReplyDeleteMight bbl.
*hugs all*
BYE!
#ChaseForBook9
@Eilís: 'at least you'd be sparkly'. XD *laughs*
ReplyDelete#ChaseForBookNine
