This year is the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who. To celebrate, Puffin Books asked eleven different authors to take a Doctor and write a story. When I was asked, I said I'd only do it if I could write for the tenth or eleventh incarnation. Puffin gave me Ten. I was a happy bunny.
It was such a joy to write this character. As you all know, I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid, and David Tennant holds joint top-spot with Matt Smith as my favourite Doctor. In my opinion, it was Tennant's era when the Doctor's love of dialogue really came out— that quick-fire patter that he does so well — and it was an absolute pleasure to channel that.
The Mystery of the Haunted Cottage will be released as an e-book on October 23rd (my birthday! Skulduggery's deathday!) and then it, along with the other stories, will be collected into a PHYSICAL book which will be out near the end of November.
There will be a video released in a week or two where I talk more about it, but in the meantime, here's a link to a snippet (which explains where the somewhat old-fashioned title comes from...)

I liked my last years maths teacher. :) He let us sit where we wanted, which sucks when you have no one to sit with, but is awesome when you do, and I did, plus he had very interesting views on the world, imo. Plus, he hung mine and my friend's crown things we made out of the loops on the speakers. :)

Mine has put us in a seating plan this year, but he tried to make it a nice-ish one where you're with ONE person who you seem get on with, if he reckons it won't cause any problems.
And he tends to make a lot of deals, so if we want to get out of the seating plan, he'll turn it into some kind of game or something. Sometimes they're results-related, and sometimes it's just something like - "Okay, fine. I'll roll a dice. If it lands on a number above four, you can sit where you want. If it lands on two or below, I rearrange the seating plan, and make it WORSE. If it comes out three or four, I get to keep you all in for detention at lunchtime. *beams*"

Luciana, AS IS awesome. I wanted to do a course which was just purely creative writing but there were none. But so far AS Geology, Chemistry, Spanish and Medieval History (DON'T ASK ABOUT MY CHOICES THEY'RE RANDOM OK) are great.
Good to know that AS is nicer than GCSE, then, at least so far. :)

Taia, well to put it simply you're told that the shells go like 2,8,8 etc for the amount of electrons they hold. But that's only because you have to know up to... Calcium, I think it is, on the periodic table. In AS level Chemistry you get told that it's ALL LIES and then get told that the shells hold more electrons.
The only possible career option I have is a random guy who uses Chemistry (most likely acids) to find out about rocks from medieval Spain.

I once had a pretty good idea about like every force in the universe having a mind and a body and every like 100,000 years they'd come to Earth and fight for like control. And on one side there was Fire and Metal and Gravity and Mass and Death and Air and Darkness. On the other there was Water and Earth and Time and Life and Light.
And then they'd have a huge fight. If the fire one won, they'd well... burn stuff. If Water won, they'd keep everything the same.

The top three sets taking triple science get the apparently best teachers (and I'm with them on their judgement of best, seeing as one is my last year's teacher and our chemistry teacher is good). It'd be a bit mean of me to the others to YAY that, wouldn't it . . . ? Never mind. :)

You know, when I'm scared of people things, like when I get told off (I know this makes me sound a bit pathetic, but it's scary and embarrassing for me :P), I've taken to trying to adopt a Morgan attitude . . . it won't work exactly like that for you as you don't know Morgan, but just try not to care, think 'what do people matter anyway?", think "I don't care what any of them think", and it might help a little. :)

@Dragona: See, you're trying to base it off our world. I always find that hard, because I often get scared of doing things wrong - it's why I dislike writing with other people, with other people's characters (gosh, I hate that), and part of why I dislike writing fanfic. I get that that's a personal thing, but I think making a world that isn't this one gives you much more freedom, because you can flow where you like and don't have to stick to structure. Plus, you've less confined ideas-wise.
Having said that, Hunter's world is this one in the future . . . XD

Star, well I'm probably guessing as soon as we meet an alien species (if there are any) some time in the future, the first thing we'll do is start a war with them. Because humans are like that.
Then we'll either get the crap beaten out of us, or both sides will realise that they can't win against the other and it'll end up being an uneasy alliance.
Or we'll beat the aliens, or we'll both just completely destroy each other. Or, there's a slight chance that we'll peacefully coexist right from the start, but that seems by far the least likely to me, given human history. Like you said, humans are like that. They fight.

Theoretically, they've managed well, but I still don't think my chemistry teacher is particularly great, whether she's the best here or not. I know people in a number of different classes and year groups who have struggles with chemistry for that, too. I know a fair few parents who put in complaints.
I mean, I respect that she DOES teach, and she chooses to do that, and I'm grateful for it, but... Y'know. She's the head of our science department, and, great for her, but it's difficult to see why sometimes.
I think she's also been here a while, so maybe she kind of... deteriorated, with age, if there's a polite way of putting that. :P
I don't mean she's a terrible teacher, and am sure she means well, but I do mean that I don't think that she teaches very effectively, if that's fair to say.

@Mara: I read something earlier, and a quote from it just came into my mind, on reading the science-related comment. While used in a different context, it was said that, directly quoted, because I just went to find the thing again for its sake: "How ANYONE else feels about the way you look should ALWAYS come second to how you feel about yourself."
And I think my meaning is that, even if you feel that your teacher dislikes you, and that you've done badly in your test, that doesn't have to hold you back in any way. You can do as well as you believe you can, and quite possibly even better.
I'd say, work hard if you can, to get that grade up, and then you can: A- Show that teacher that you're even BETTER, and B- Do better there, for yourself. :)
But, additionally, hey, it's not the end of the world if your science reslut isn't the best science result out there - Your Maraness is still the best Maraness out there. :)

The physics teacher Triple had last year was also really rubbish, according to my friend. I mean, she explained why he was rubbish, and he does sound pretty rubbish. So things aren't always accurate. And maybe they base it on qualifications, not actual teaching. Qualifications aren't 100% reliable with these things. What these things should be judged on is things that aren't very measurable, so people probably go for the qualifications. Probably shouldn't start ranting about immeasurable magic, done it before and I can't be bothered to get all emotional.
