This year is the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who. To celebrate, Puffin Books asked eleven different authors to take a Doctor and write a story. When I was asked, I said I'd only do it if I could write for the tenth or eleventh incarnation. Puffin gave me Ten. I was a happy bunny.
It was such a joy to write this character. As you all know, I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid, and David Tennant holds joint top-spot with Matt Smith as my favourite Doctor. In my opinion, it was Tennant's era when the Doctor's love of dialogue really came out— that quick-fire patter that he does so well — and it was an absolute pleasure to channel that.
The Mystery of the Haunted Cottage will be released as an e-book on October 23rd (my birthday! Skulduggery's deathday!) and then it, along with the other stories, will be collected into a PHYSICAL book which will be out near the end of November.
There will be a video released in a week or two where I talk more about it, but in the meantime, here's a link to a snippet (which explains where the somewhat old-fashioned title comes from...)

There was this display on the wall of the English classroom, by Year Seven and Year Nine (why not ussssssssssssssss it looks fun), about people's favourite books. They had to, like, make an A4 poster each with pictures and writing. Idk, I didn't do it.

One of them was SP!!!!! :) I NEARLY SCREAMED OKAY. BUT I WAS ON A TABLE WITH PEOPLE I DIDN'T KNOW, TWO OF WHICH I ALREADY DISLIKE AFTER ONE LESSON (the girl asked is realise was spelt realise or realize, I told her that it was realise in England and realize in America, the boy said that Americans were stupid, I argued that lots weren't, and that some were, but some English people were, and they just argued back by repeatedly saying they were stupid, and also fat, because they found it amusing, and I wenmt into full arguing mode, which means I was speaking really loudly, because when I'm protesting something my voice just gets louder and louder and they're all SHUT UP HOLLY so the argument ended around about the time they were all telling me to quieten down and all the girls on the next table (they're bitches) were giggling and yeah . . . I've forgotten where I was going). BUT ANYWAY. IT WAS SP. AND I NEARLY SCREAMED. AND I WAS SO HAPPY BEACUSE SOMEONE IN THE SCHOOL LOVES THEM ENOUGH FOR THEM TO SAY THEY'RE HIS/HER FAVOURITE BOOKS!!!!!!! :)
At some point I need to get close enough to the diusplay to read it.
And the second awesome thing that happened was this:
Well, I was sitting in Art, listening to the teacher, who was talking us, and this sixth former walked in to get something from the cupboard, and when you're me and something walks in, you immediately look at them to see what clothes they're wearing in case it's merchandise, and I didn't see much because by the time I'd looked over she was turning a corner, but I saw this red S and the T-shirt she was wearing was black so I was like POSSIBILITY so I stared at her back as she walked to the cupboard, completely ignoring the teacher here, waiting for her to turn around, because when your life is as sad as mine that's just what you do, and then . . . AND THEN SHE TUIRNED AROUND AND SHE WAS WEARING AN AVENGED SEVENFOLD T-SHIRT AND I WAS SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
That's the first Avenged Sevenfold merchandise I've ever seen. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I meanwhile am trying to think of weapon systems for a Sci-Fi story that I'm writing. Have decided on 3 so far, AND I've developed a type of energy that the weapon will use. They're all rather complex so I MIGHT not explain all them xD
Unless any of you have a rather detailed knowledge sub-atomic particles.
By 'writing' I mean I'm currently trying to design the world in a lot of detail. I decided to start with the weapons. Once you have the weapons, you have to think of the things behind them.
And that led me to create a form of energy that like advanced the technology of the human race.

Also, if you want a good game series - buy Mass Effect. It's my favourite. ^^ There are 3 in the series, Sci-Fi and stuff. But it's a universe done in so much detail. You can choose how the character looks and stuff but the most important thing is you choose HOW they act. And the choices you make throughout the games influence the endings, but you can also upload your characters between the games. So if you play Mass Effect 1, you can continue your character to Mass Effect 2. And then from Mass Effect 2 to Mass Effect 3. It's a rather good system.
