Reaction to the book is exactly what I'd been hoping for — shock and AWE. There have been MANY threats of violence and decapitation made against me, which I thoroughly deserve for what I've put you through.
All in all, people have been very good about not spoiling it for others, but dear god, there have been some exceptions. A few things on the Facebook page, a lot of stuff on Twitter, some stuff on Tumblr, and one of the very first Amazon reviews has a major spoiler. I don't understand the need to spoil things for others or to seek out spoilers for yourself, and I really can't understand why anyone would casually mention a plot twist without realising it could ruin things for others.
Basically, beware of the internet, Minions.

I just saw my reflection in the mirror and I was like OMG WHO IS THAT?!

Being in a house all on your own gets freaky after a while. It's too quiet. Where all the background noiseshould be, there's just this silence, like a suffocating fog stifling the house.
I suppose it's a bit like when you tidy your room. One time my room was really messy, as rooms are. And then I got really OCD and tidied it, putting every single thing away in a cupboard somewhere because anything bieng out irritated me.
And then my room was so tidy, it was freaky, and I hid under the desk freaking out on the blog. And I even wrote a short story about it . . . yeah.
It was like my room had got bigger, and just been swallowed up and expanded, except it wasn't any bigger, so it was like th emptiness was inhabiting it like a giant magnifying glass, and it also reminded me of when I was younger, and it was as if I'd gone abck in time slighlty (because it was THAT long since my room had been that clear and empty. :P), and . . . it was like in Doctor Who or something, or in a dream. Yes, in a dream. You know when you dream about locations you know in real life, but they're slightly different and warped? It was like that. Except REAL LIFE.
I know this is sounding pathetic, me hiding under my desk and freaking out just beacuse I had a tidy room, but seriously. It was so BIG. I was like, my room isn't mean t to be this big! It's huge!
It was scary.
And . . . I got carried away with the description, but it's a bit like that. But instead of the emptyness eating my room, it's the silence eating my house.

Unfortunately . . . I accidentally chopped part of the wasp off when I slammed the cup over it.

I head talking out the window, so I went to investigate. I stepped down two steps on the ladder, leant across and put my foot on the edge of the desk by the wardrobe (without any handholds), walked across my desk and onto the windowsill, look out the window, saw nothing, deducaed where the talking was coming from, walked back along my desk, looked how far away the ladder was, freaked a little, leant over and got my hand on my bed (I was pretty sure I was going to fall then. I didn't think I could reach), stepped onto the ladder, and climbed back up.

That's the problem though- believing in yourself. Whether you do or do not think you can do something, it doesn't matter if you can or can not. If you are a frail old woman and you are told to swim across the English Channel, believing you can won't get you across.
Everyone has physical limitations, and in situations there are too many variables for just "believing" to actually work.
So, what I'm trying to get at is- what is the point of believing if it is simply a can or can not situation?

I believe that there is no such thing as not being able to do something - there is only not being able to do something YET. If you try hard enough, you'll get there.
So . . . even if you physically can't NOW, if you try enough, you'll be able to do it.

Of course, yes, if you train, but that isn't the point. Why would "believing in yourself"have anything to do with flying? What are you believing in? Getting a good mark on the next test at school? Believing you can fly? Because up until you do, you can't. None of us can actually fly. We can pretend, even for a moment, but we can't.
For all we know, that dust could have scientific or magical properties that makes us fly.
@Adra: But if you want to fly enough, you'll find a way. You can invent one. It might take you a lifetime, but I believe you can do it.
Or you can just go in an aeroplane. :P
An aeroplane is actually proof of this. People wanted to fly, so they tried to find a way, and now they have.
I wouldn't recommend devoting your life to trying to fly, though.

I've been thinking (all owls think a lot), and I've revised my opinion. I believe that you can do anything another human can do, and many things other living creatures can do, if you try hard enough. And sometimes, even other things.
But things like conjuring up objects out of thin air . . . I believe that it can be done, but that not everyone will be able to do it however hard they try, mostly because there are very few pointers to direct them to it. Nobody's worked out how to do it. Maybe someday somebody will, and then they can teach people, but until there is a way, very few people can do it.

Slipknot have helped me hugely over the years, as they have with many other people. I'vealways felt alone, I have friends, but I've never had a girlfriend, so I've always felt like I'm alone. But when I listen to Slipknot, I know I'm not alone in this world. I have them and all other Slipknot fans behind me. They're currently the biggest thing in my life, they're helped me with severe depression,numerous suicide attempts, the loss of friends because of my selfish attempts, but I see it as; who needs them, Slipknot are a much better friend to me than anyone else.

I think this song is about stomping out what makes your center rot. Everyone has another side of them that not alot of people see. A side of hate, aggression, and self pity. I think it starts with your right side saying "fuck this shit, you're a little bitch and I know i can control you. I will!" and how much will do you have? And the verse replys with saddness, confusion, and frustration. And throughout the song its this amazing battle where i can relate to both sides. But during the interlude you get yourself to realize "What the hell am i doing? What the fuck am I thinking? Do I even have any reason to hide?" And we fight this battle every day, before every choice, or after, we make. "I love, you hate" It's yourself that loves and hates but they so different feelings that you feel like two different people. Well, all I can say is that "everything ends"

She just said she didn't like me anymore and just started being a bitch to me and acting like she was way better than me, but I now I know she's not. I went through a fucking depression. I lost my job because I didn't go to work. I started to lose everything and I thought my world was falling apart. One day I went through my old songs on my computer and found this. That instant I thought, "I'M NOT GOING TO LET THIS BITCH RUIN MY LIFE!" so I took everything she gave me and burned it. I deleted any files that contained her. This song helped get back on my feet and it inspired me and got me moving.

Im with you there Helen.People dont look at me and see a slipknot fan. I think they imagine me as a pop princess, but they are one of my fave bands. I read your review and am kind of in a similar place. I too walked out on my ex fiance as he bacame too controlling. Exactly as you said everything i see reminds me of her (the female he was turning me into, obedient quiet dutiful no mind of her own) but luckily i saw before it was too late and left. now he realises that i meant it when i said i was leaving so ive had all the sorries the grovells everything. sick thing is he still cant see he's done much wrong. I often listen to this song when he keeps texting and ringing me with his stresses putting me on guilt trips. I dont think he realises we all have stress we all have problems, but luckily some of us know how best to cope with it, without controlling others or making them feel like rubbish. These people who have hurt us have the real problem not us. Long live SlipKnot (ace live by the way) think we need to start a Corey Taylor appreciation society
