I thought the title of this entry was smart and funny, effectively conveying the relief at another tour being over and done with in a winning and whimsical manner. But how many of you are going to miss the John Lennon reference and just puzzle at the "Happy Christmas| part? Ah well. Too late now to go changing it.
So, another tour bites the dust. This was a fun one, lots of people turning up, lots of glares and scowls and cakes and pictures and fist-bumps and many, many moody looks into camera... All in a day's work, really. Thanks to everyone who came along — it was tiring but I had a blast.
And now I'm home, and it's time to get organised.
There's going to be some cool news coming your way over the next few weeks and months. Some of it will make you go "Cool!" and some of it will make you grin. Some of it, of course, will make you weep, as it's coming up to that time when I'll have to start plotting out Book Nine. Most of you will still be reeling from the events of LSODM, so you'll know not to trust me. For some reason, the tagline from the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is floating through my head...
"Who will survive, and what will be left of them?"
The good news is, now that the pressure of editing and touring is off, I'll be able to get back to my regular (ahem) blogging and Twitter routine, so I should be chatting to you guys a little more often than I have been. Hopefully.
The fact is, I'm going to be incredibly busy for the next year. Want a brief rundown on what I have ahead of me?
1) Plot, write and finish Book Nine by March.
2) Work on Mystery Project 2.
3) Write 10 brand new short stories for the Skulduggery Collection out next Summer.
4) Work on Mystery Project 3.
5) Devise, plan and start writing New Book Series by September 2014.
6) Work on Mystery Project 4.
All that, and blog and tweet and play with my nieces. Oh, and my nephew.
Nephew, you say? But Golden God, you don't HAVE a nephew. I do now, gentle Minion. Born this afternoon, weighing in at over 9 pounds, Baby Skulduggery is now part of my Baby Army of Terror, and he is to be feared.
(Okay fine, my sister hasn't OFFICIALLY named him Baby Skulduggery, but come on... How could she NOT?)

My sensors indicate that he is in the Eocene epoch. In this time period there are primitive mammals and primates. Hoofed animals are fairly common, however, so are reptiles such as snakes and turtles.
If you choose to enter this time zone you will have to have someone accompany you. My powers are mainly defensive, so choosing me would be the most logical decision.

Chione, I would recommend Dr. Adra Dark, due to the fact that she spends a large proportion of her time in her laboratory.

I can create deployable shields and I can survive any attack that is thrown at me due to my own shields. If you would like me to enter first, I would be more than happy to.
If my shields fail, they can regenerate. But the metal that makes up my body is also very strong.
i will go first as i need to unlock the main entrance but weapons arnt exactly these traps. more like dissasembling every particle in you and throwing to a different point in time
I can also deploy temporary drones. They are designed to help in combat but I'm sure they could disable the traps.
Sometimes Dragona, I feel your characters are a little too... invincible.

Trip, I got that exact feeling when I took on about two hundred soldiers by myself.
I didn't DESIGN the character, just use them. There ARE limitations, though. The Geth Juggernaut is incredibly slow and can't move any faster than walking pace. Nor do they have the ability to dodge attacks very easily.
But they make up for that with powerful shields and a strong body. They're designed to TAKE hits, not avoid them. And they only have three-ish powers.
1. Temporary shields that you can put down.
2. Energy blaster.
3. Drone.
The energy drain thing is technically a melee attack xD

Trip, an EMP could work. I think. It wouldn't kill him - the shields would protect him from that. But it could disable the drones and the deployable shields.
That only means he has an energy blaster. It doesn't even do that much damage - takes about three hits to kill an unarmoured target.

On that subject, I'm good at analogies because I have a lot of practise and because I think about them and rewrite them as I do them. Also . . . my brain is orientated to them. When I see things, I often try to think how I could use them to make an analogy for something . . .

Dragona is just an elemental. And he has come close to dying several times. You just don't read my stories :P
Cabader was designed NOT to die. But he has limitations too. If you shot him with a RPG or something he would be thrown backwards. Unharmed, but not immune to strikes. And you can still like restrain him. And he is only one person. He can't do THAT much damage.
I do read your stories. That's kinda how I know.
Remember how he incinerated an alley full of people in Dead Reaping?

The Diary was like my first mass-killing. I thought of things like... in proportion? They were four special operations soldiers against a city full of zombies. And I know from experience, although zombies are weak, they can be overwhelming. Especially in large numbers.
So along with them and The Dark Shadow to compete with, they were obviously going to die. And that's why Dragona will die when he faces The Dark Shadow. Maybe take it down with him. Or something. Probably not, though. Maybe injure. But he will almost definitely be dying. :)

@Brave: Well, it's like acting. You just pretend to be a character, or be yourself but in circumstances we invent. It's a bit like writing, in a way.
Right now, Trip wants to kill Ed (that is, Trip's characters wants to kill Ed's), so then at some point we'll think of a way to do it, and then we'll make our characters do it . . . like when you act out a play. Except, you don't know what's going to happen until it happens, so you have to react to what other people are saying is happening.
Like:
A: *steals B's banana*
B: OI! *tries to snatch it back*
A: *runs away*
B: *chases after*
A: *climbs up tree, and hides in branches*
B: *stops and looks around* AW DAMMIT.
A: *jumps down from tree, landing on B*
Or, A and B could decide to go to ancient Rome, so then they'd be describing what they were seeing and doing and imagining they were there . . .
