Word Count

Second draft is done...!

Laura was meant to come round yesterday to pick up her copy, but instead she's calling round tonight. While I wait for her to arrive, I've been going over the word counts to all the books so far. I'm very surprised by the first four books— for some reason, I thought everything I've written had been over 80,000 words. Apparently not.

Skulduggery Pleasant was 67,393 words.
Playing With Fire was 69,683.
The Faceless Ones was 69,689.
Dark Days was 77,335.

And now we see the numbers start to jump...

Mortal Coil was 104,000.
Deathbringer was 118,000.
Kingdom of the Wicked was 134,765.

And the second draft of Last Stand of Dead Men is coming in at a back-breaking 156,688 words. Basically, it's twice the length of Dark Days.

I don't know how long it'll be after the edit, but hopefully I'll be able to trim it down a little.

    this, my friends, is a comment i had to make on a reference toa site:

    This website mentions many a fact about the Olympic games and it’s history, specifying things about the Olympic games, an important statue of the god Zeus, what the sacred truce was and much more.
    The Olympic games begun roughly 2,700 years ago. It is also suggested on the site that the games possibly begun in 776 BC. The Olympic games were hosted in honor of Zeus, ruler of all the gods.
    During the Olympics, there was a sacred truce, meaning that, if countries were at war, messengers and competitors could pass through another country without incident. This truce lasted a month. This truce is special because the Olympic games were considered a religious event, making it more important then war.
    At first, the games only consisted of a short sprint across the stadium, but slowly more events were added, making it into a four-day event. Some of the events added were wrestling, boxing, long jump, throwing a javelin and/or discus and chariot racing.
    Only men were allowed to compete in the Olympics, and only men, boys and un-married women or girls were allowed to watch. As a result of this, many married women tried to sneak in to watch their sons or husbands, but were caught and punished. While married women were punished, un-married women or girls were allowed to enter and even had their own festival every for years, called Heraia. Here, women competed in a running race, where the women who won would get exactly the same treatment as a man. This included getting a crown or wreath made out of olive branches.
    When the games were over, there would be a massive feast for both participant and spectator alike. Traders and entertainers would come, hoping for a job and many oxen were roasted for the event.

    Yeah... A lot of my dreams are really weird... They're all so vivid, too. Mom says I have too much imagination. I say she doesn't have any. :-P

    And yeah... Running from the zombies (one of which was named Tom) and being teleported through different dimensions/planets/places/times was scary at the time, and I woke up breathing fast, but afterwards I could appreciate the utter randomness of P!nk being the Doctor and defeating zombies with exploding playing cards. Also my drawing teacher fought crime... It was so weird, and I'd hate it if I lived it, but it's funny to look back on, knowing it wasn't real.

    I once dreamt an entire life in which my name was Amy, I went through school with my pesky little brother and sister, got a job at K-Mart, got married, had three kids, went to retirement home and died age 80, only to wake up aged 11 in my own bed and throughly confusedand wondering who I was.
