Such is the reality of life as a writer— there IS no time off.
Other people leave the office and go off on holidays, but that's not the case with writers. Oh sure, we can easily walk away from the writing desk, but it's not so easy to flick the switch in our heads that makes us stop thinking of the next thing to write. We're stuck in that headspace. A writer's brain will continue to churn, even when we want to think about other things. It's not a BAD problem to have. It's not as bad as, say, being born without a head or waking up one morning to find your house is made of cheese. But it can get annoying. It means that you can never really relax...
I've had a few days off ever since sending in my first draft of LSODM. The last time I spoke with Nick, my editor, he was halfway through and loving it. Apparently. So that's good. I think. I'm not sure what my feelings are towards this new book. At the moment I'm too close to it, I don't know if it's good or great (or, yikes, bad) so I'm at that stage where uncertainty is tainting everything and I'm just waiting for Nick to finish the whole thing and say "Yeaahhhhh it's... fine... BUT..."
So yes, I've had a few days off since then. Two of which were taken up with meetings. But from Thursday on, I haven't even had to answer the phone. So what have I been doing?
Planning.
I have two short stories to write for various things. I want to do a lot more for the Skulduggery short story collection coming out next year. I need to start thinking of Skulduggery Book Nine. And I have to get a handle of what I'm going to write AFTER. What book is going to coming out in 2015? What will the next series be?
So that's what I've been doing over the weekend.
But now that I have the first draft handed in, hopefully I'll be able to get back to posting here on a weekly basis, and being a bit more present on Twitter, and generally getting things back to normal. You've all been very patient while I've had my head down, and I appreciate it. As a reward, here's a thing.

Whenever anyone comes and climbs for the first time they always act like they're climbing a flight of stairs. XD If there isn't a large hold a foot or so above the previous one they think they can't do it. We all look at them standing there on the wall trembling and feel so suprior. XD
But if those same people were climbing trees, I'm sure they would work a lot more at it. *frowns*

The ropes are very strong and will never ever break, so my advice is to learn to trust them. :)
Don't know how rockclimbing is where you are, but it's pretty expensive here, so not many people go every week. I don't.
I've been rock climbing a couple of times. Always went to the top, because I'm fearless. (Hopes nobody remembers my mention of how The Goonies never fails to terrify me.) :P

I don't like lead climbing - that's when the rope isn't attached at the top, you take the rope up with you and clip it to the wall as you go along - because once I'm above my last clip, if I fall, I'll fall a few metres. D:
But you can only do lead climbing once you're a level three/four.
So yeah.
Lucky you - my rockclimbing is about twenty minutes away, driving?

Well, technically my school has climbing walls that you can book sessions at, and I used to go there in years five and six, but by then I could climb every single wall there with utter ease and it got tiresome with all the new people so we started going to Rockcity. It's a proper climbing centre that has much more walls and bigger walls, plus lots of harder walls. It also has bouldering rooms. It allows you to complete NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) levels and is generally pretty epic.
I'm sorry, I'm proud of my climbing centre. :) It's like feeling patriotic.

I do NOTHING with my free time, except drawing and reading and Blogland-ing and music-ing.

I used to swim a LOT, but my coach quit and then the head of P.E. department in my school took over and it was SCARY. And then they kept switching coaches and it was just annoying and confusing and meh. So I hung on for a couple of months, and then quit.

Taia the Fleadh is an Irish trad music competition. The one today was the Dublin Fleadh. The group competitions were today and all the other ones are tomorrow. If you make it through the Dublin Fleadh you go onto the Leinster Fleadh. If you get through that you go onto the all-Ireland Fleadh.
My group didn't make it through but my friend is in the U12s and her group got through.
By other ones I mean solos, duos and trios.
And of course by the time I get home DW is over.*sighs* and I was sure I'd get to see it tonight.
