LSODM is over 133,000 words right now and I promised my editor I'd have a reasonably finished first draft to him by the end of the week. That means no Twitter and no blogging, and very little internet presence at all. Even a half hour of writing a blog is a half hour of NOT writing the book, and I can't afford to do that right now. When the book is done, when it's finally done, business as usual will be resumed. Until then, this temporary silence continues.

My favourite books are the ones with intricate details. The Inheritance Cycle I enjoyed, though admittedly it was rather predictable. The world in that was so well thought out. Everyone had their own language and their culture and it might have took years of planning. That's maybe why I like Mass Effect for the same reason.
Some books nowadays have no substance to them. And I prefer those that do.
I love the books and the Second series. Movie? Not so much

The Eragon movie was terrible too.
I think that directors use films of books just as marketing. Most of the films made from books are absolutely horrific. And it's the same with video games.
Take Ironman. Ironman was a half-decent film. The game? Horrible. Graphics were terrible and to be honest it was worth about £2. They just use it as marketing - making bad films just for the name, not for the thing itself.

The Percy Jackson series were the first PROPER books i ever read. THey have opened a whole new world of reading to me. Actually this is a good story:
I Went into a really small book shop trying to find Harry potter books. The book store was sold out of them but the really nice man Introduced me to skulduggery He said it was a great book and i should try it. If it wasn't for him i would not be here.

Well it's about These people who hunt Deamons and Vampires and werewolves. They are called Shadow hunters and the have special powers. They are like a race of humans. It s so awesome. The blurb makes it sound like Twilight but it is not. The creatures in it are awesome. I'm gonna finish the book this week and buy the movie or watch it on Netflix.

Em, oh yeah. I read the first one and hated it. It wasn't the concept that I disliked - it was very, very good. But it felt unfinished and rushed. It was just... incomplete. It needed more survival and less... disorganised. It felt poorly explained and poorly executed, at least in my eyes.
Well Book 2 kinda explains the whole zombie thing a bit better and book 3 is more of the survival thing that you would expect from a world gone down hill.
Book 1 really was just an opening act.
I got a box set of Michael morpurgo books of Santa and had them read by march. There was sixteen of them.

CITY OF BONES IS AMAZING IM SAT SURROUNDED BY TMI MERCH I SHOULD BE PUTTING AWAY, RN... XD
Book 1 was a real disappointment for me. I'm used to zombies where it progresses slowly. Zombies with a hidden message.
In the zombies I'm used to, chemical, biological, nuclear or any other disaster occurs and a small group of the population become infected/changed. Then more and more people become zombified and there's a collapse of society until only a few groups of survivors remain and have to salvage what they can from a doomed world.
To me that gives a message about how easy it is to collapse society. It could also raise questions about moral and environmental beliefs. Those kind of zombies make me think. They have more feeling. Zom-B had none of that. It just seemed rushed as I said before. There was no survival.
One minute zombies were in far away countries, the next his school is full of them. It didn't... it wasn't a good start.

Also I get what you mean about the whole disorganisation of it Dragona, but in book 1, the zombie were literally thrown at them so you wouldn't expect them to be all Combat Carl. They will be disorganized because they're scared.

Oh, I don't expect them to go and grab a shotgun and start fighting the zombies. The book was disorganised. It lacked any sort of progression and seemed to jump from one part to the other with little reasoning.
The Enemy was a good book. That had a mixture of gore, feelings and realism. And you could connect to the characters. It felt real. Whereas Zom-B felt more like a quick attempt at getting a series underway with little thought for the characters nor the zombies themselves.

The only zombie book I have really enjoyed reading is Alice in Zombieland. Now that was a good book!
