Also, they're head lice, not hair lice. They don't care how long your hair is, they only care whether you have a head.
And they can jump about half a metre? So they'll jump on your head either way.
So having shorter hair really wouldn't help.

Yeah, but they can just keep jumping and jumping and jumping until they get to hour head. You can't change that. And cutting your hair won't change that.
Do you know anyone in school who has head lice? Or anyone who had it recently?
(If you're deciding what to do with your hair based on how condisive your hair is to nits, I'd say to look at other reasons. Removing nits takes at most an hour, and catching them gets rarer and rarer as you age, so I'd say go for what looks good, not what's marginally better for avoiding very insignificant creatures.
