Finally!
You don't know what it's like, you really don't. I finished the book, was very happy with it, and then took a few days of doing nothing before starting The End Of The World and some other stuff. And all the while I'd be reading your comments, and the comments on the Forums and Facebook, and smiling because everyone seemed to be looking forward to it so much.
But that was MONTHS ago!
To have to sit here and watch all of you count down the days made me feel so incredibly guilty for putting you through that. But now, finally, the wait is over. It is September 1st. It is Death Bringer day.
The Launch last night in Dublin was manic...! It turned into a marathon signing session, and it had Storm Troopers! STORM TROOPERS! I didn't get a chance to chat to any of the people I know and usually see at launches, because I was staring at the Storm Troopers and then signing books and staring at Boba Fett and signing books...
'Twas a good way to launch Death Bringer, so thank you Eason's bookshop!
And what will I be doing today, you ask? The day of the release? Will I be doing interviews and attending champagne parties? Er... no. I will be cleaning my house. I'm off on tour tomorrow, and as usual Laura will be staying here while I'm gone, so I have to get the place ready for her or she'll glare at me. And you've never been glared at by Laura. It's SCARY.
So all of you who have just bought the book, I hope you like it. The previous blog entry is still the ONLY place you can post spoilers, so don't do that here. And even in the previous entry, try to HINT at the spoilers instead of blurting them out. Because there are SOME people, who will remain nameless, who felt the need to SKIM the spoilers and were dismayed when certain things were spoiled for them... which I actually find hilarious. If you don't want anything spoiled, DO NOT READ THE SPOILER SECTION! Sigh.
Okay, I have a house to clean. And you? You have a book to read.

Just so everyone knows, I won't be on the blogs tomorrow. I have to go to a family reunion at my grandma's. I HATE family reunions. It's not the side of the family I saw in Canada. I love those guys. That side is COOL. Tomorrow, I'm seeing the other side. I don't know ANYONE, but for some reason they all know who I am. I'll bring a book, some pens and pencils, and two notebooks - one for drawing, one for writing. And I'll hide inside, away from all the people. My grandma's cat will protect me. But still. It's gonna be long and annoying.
Then later, I have the Salute to (insert name of my town here) to go to. That should be fun, at least. My brother's playing with a small group of kids from our school orchestra there. And there'll be a rocket car. I love those. So much fun.
I'll go watch it now!

I got death bringer yesterday and I read all of it by 3 A.M this morning! All the lights were off in the house though so I sat in the bathroom all night reading! IT WAS SO GOOD! The detective Me chapter was GENIUS!!!
Then I got up early and went to bromley where YOU WERE DOING A BOOK SIGNING!!! :D
It really was amazing to meet you Derek and I got a hug which is even more awesome! it means so much to me that i got to meet my hero!!

Awesome! I think you'll like the book by the way. It's not my favourite from the SP series, and there were parts where I was a bit like 'oooooookay then...', but it was still really good!

Derek, I've just finished Death Bringer, and I have to say:
WOW.
It was easily my favourite book of all time, with the twists, and the plot, and the returning characters, it was absolutley brilliant.
You, my Lord, are an absolute genius, and I bow down to Death Bringer, officially the best book of all time.
One more thing, next year, will you be doing any events in Liverpool, UK? You came last year, a signing for Mortal Coil, and it was the first and only time I met you, and it was one of the best days of my entire life. So, please come next year! O almost cried when I found out there were no signings this year in Liverpool!

Ann - I don't like them. They're all really weird, not in a good way either. People who's names I don't know and barely even know existed try to give me hugs, and strike a conversations about how school is going and my social life and stuff like that, and I hate it when people do that. Hate it hate it hate it. They're not all bad, though. My grandma, and my immediate uncle, aunt, and cousin I like. But that's pretty much all.

Dear Derek
I just got the book this morning
I finished it within a few hours or so
I have to say that it was brilliant
Although when I finished it I was rather sad that I could not turn the page to reveal the next part of the story
It was very impressive
You would have to have a brilliant and unique imagination to think up such vivid plots
However I find that as soon as I finished the book a kind of blissful stroke of boardom seemed to pass over me. I find that, although I enjoy such works of art, I'm also saddened by the fact that it has been confined to a limited number of pages
I cannot wait for the next installment of the series
Although it will be quite unnerving waiting for it to arrive
I know what I'll do, I'll read a good book to pass the time!

There's been a tropical storm going here all day. I love all of the rain :D. I might have been and had we lived elsewhere, but with the Mississippi River and all of the levees around here, there wasn't any flooding for us or anything serious that I could see nearby.
