Finally!
You don't know what it's like, you really don't. I finished the book, was very happy with it, and then took a few days of doing nothing before starting The End Of The World and some other stuff. And all the while I'd be reading your comments, and the comments on the Forums and Facebook, and smiling because everyone seemed to be looking forward to it so much.
But that was MONTHS ago!
To have to sit here and watch all of you count down the days made me feel so incredibly guilty for putting you through that. But now, finally, the wait is over. It is September 1st. It is Death Bringer day.
The Launch last night in Dublin was manic...! It turned into a marathon signing session, and it had Storm Troopers! STORM TROOPERS! I didn't get a chance to chat to any of the people I know and usually see at launches, because I was staring at the Storm Troopers and then signing books and staring at Boba Fett and signing books...
'Twas a good way to launch Death Bringer, so thank you Eason's bookshop!
And what will I be doing today, you ask? The day of the release? Will I be doing interviews and attending champagne parties? Er... no. I will be cleaning my house. I'm off on tour tomorrow, and as usual Laura will be staying here while I'm gone, so I have to get the place ready for her or she'll glare at me. And you've never been glared at by Laura. It's SCARY.
So all of you who have just bought the book, I hope you like it. The previous blog entry is still the ONLY place you can post spoilers, so don't do that here. And even in the previous entry, try to HINT at the spoilers instead of blurting them out. Because there are SOME people, who will remain nameless, who felt the need to SKIM the spoilers and were dismayed when certain things were spoiled for them... which I actually find hilarious. If you don't want anything spoiled, DO NOT READ THE SPOILER SECTION! Sigh.
Okay, I have a house to clean. And you? You have a book to read.

Muesli sounds nice, but so does a sandwich. A sandwich is one of the few things that I can cook. (Yes, I class a sandwich as cooking. Don't judge me! :P ). Generically, I suck at cooking. Probably because I have a complete disregard for instructions and try to take shortcuts... Hehehe. :P
My friend is very good at following instructions though. So when I cook with her, things turn out alright :)
I can make toast. And, um, making toast counts as preparing a warm meal, yes?
Indeed. So does sticking something in a microwave. Very advanced cooking, that.

My first 3 books are soft back but I'll be getting the rest in hard back since I have to wait for these to come out where the first three were already out when I discovered skulduggery....

soorrryy...... it just sliped out!
I got the first one in trade paperback, then the second and third as ebooks, then Dark Days as the new design paperback, and Mortal Coil as ebook again... and looked at them all and thought "hmm, this doesn't go too well together", so then I went on a slight spending spree and managed to get them all as brand new hardcovers, although sadly I had to hunt down the first one on eBay - was out of print everywhere by then.
And then I went and bought the missing ones as ebooks, too, for lighter reading and carrying with me. :D
So now I have an awfully gorgeous set of the UK hardcovers, but I'm really liking the new paperbacks too... mustn't give in to the temptation though, as I really don't have the space for them all at home!
Ooh, the tour has started!
I do envy everyone - in a good way, of course - who gets to go to the signings and such!

I gave my Dark Days paperback away to a friend whom I'd talked into giving the books a try (well, I didn't *tell* him to read them, because I don't like to do that, but I wouldn't shut up about the awesomeness of the series, so he finally decided to read them and is now loving them too), but I don't think I can part with my first book paperback for sentimental reasons either. It's what started it all!
I wonder if I'll ever be around the UK at the same time there's a tour going on... seems to be the only chance I might have. Hmm. Not too likely, I guess. A pity!

I have just received your book from Amazon, I pre-ordered it months ago. I practically jumped on the post lady who delivered it with a huge smile on my face. I cannot wait to read it, I have been forced to read the books to my partner who takes forever to read (I read him the first one and he was addicted, I have read ALL the books to him in a few weeks, my voice is buggered lol, for that I blame YOU for your fantastic books by the way!)
So this message is just to say thank you for always releasing your books quickly and on time! I'm going to try my best to get to your signing @ Meadowhall, so I can thank you in person.
It's been read three times in our houses already. I managed it twice and there's typo on page 440.
And there's physical impossibility in there too... but I'm not sure off the top of my head and another bit that doesn't make sense in conversation?
There were quite a few typos (one on the very first line and very last line of chapter 29, I think - those really stood out) and some missed words, too ... need to re-read the book properly to find them again, though. Not that it's going to be a chore to do that. *g*
Still, with such a massive book, a handful of typos do tend to slip in, no matter how careful the copy-editing and proofreading.
Cluainn, I think a couple of things have been mentioned in the comments of the previous post (the spoilers-allowed post) - no idea though if those were some of the things you noticed!

Tanith, I am old enough not to worry about parents. ;-) (And when I was little, my mother and grandmother were extremely supportive of me reading - grandma taught me the letters when I was 1.5 or so and I was reading proper books when I was three, and I can't remember they ever told me NOT to read anything.)
But I've seen some young people complain that their parents don't really like them reading, and they certainly don't want them to "waste" money (or time) on books at all. Some people just don't get reading. :-S

right, not sure if you will read this, however, Derek, you are doing a signing in easons in swords, on the 16th, and I live in swords, so that's perfect, however, my aunt is getting married that day, an hour before you get there, so I cant queue and see you early, but I will be killed if I'm gone too long, unfortunately I do not have a reflection to do the boring wedding stuff ..... help??? I was up until seven minutes past four this morning finishing that book. I loved it. I really was not expecting that unbelievably ingenious twist. And page 272. Oh dear, I had to close the book and put it aside before I laughed for a full five minutes. I was surprised by the lack of Tanith, but it didn't subtract from the book in anyway. I was also looking forward to seeing more of Darquesse. I read through the whole book, waiting, wiating, waiting, then finally she reappeared once more. I wanted everyone to find out that it was Valkyrie, but of course, it's logical that you didn't and I'll just have to leave it to my fantasies :)
And obviously, I'll be writhing in despair for a year while waiting for the next book to see what happens with Kenny. Unless you wrote something about it in 'The End of the World'? But I doubt you'd leave something that important to a little side novel. These books get better and better as they go along :)
I also thought it was awesome of Derek to mention a couple of his bloggers in the book. Not many authors would do that

I bought it yesterday evening and read it in 8 hours. non stop. I finnished it at 3am in the morning...
I'm very glad that I didn't get a chance to read it on the bus home or I would have gotten strange looks from everyone not initiated into the Skulduggery world... I couldn't stop laughing! There were certain moments I just couldn't contain myself! I think its your funniest book yet!
I loved the MASSIVE twist in the middle... talk about scandalous! I was almost as mind screwed as when River Song revealed she was Amy and Rory's daughter... but then everything made sense! I also enjoyed little nods to certain people and pop culture references. It was great!
well... now the anxious wait for this book is over, I have to wait until March. This is going to be really hard...
Anyways I loved it and now I'm super exited about what your going to bring out next!

kallista, I skimmed through it because I'm too tired to read it properly, and I almost cried. It is the most beautiful thing I've read in a long time, but I hate it. I hate that you would ever, ever, ever see yourself that way. It pisses me off that anyone would ever desert you or stop you from feeling your anger. *hugs* You are one of the most amazing, essence of wonderfulness people that I know and it would be one of the worst things I can think of happening to me if you were gone. I love you, and I really, honestly hope that the writing can help you heal.
