Random Replies to Random People

Today I shall be addressing comments. Yes, comments- the things I asked you not to leave and yet you CONTINUE TO DEFY ME!

Ahem.

I read all the comments, if for no other reason than to curse the day you ever sat down at your computer, but I don’t have the time to respond to them- which is why you comment leavers are getting a blog entry all to yourselves.

Aren’t you special?

People ask about the movie a lot. And I mean, a LOT. An insane amount of my valuable time is taken up answering this question. (Actually an even more insane amount of my valuable time is taken up eating cheese, but answering this question comes a close second...). All I can say is that there is no news on the movie yet, and so no news of any auditions. If and when we have good news, I will let you know, so that you may start to worship me as a god of some sort. Possibly with offerings of cheese.

Some minions want me to read their fanfiction, but the sad truth is, if I read ONE minion’s fanfiction, I will have no excuse not to read ANOTHER minion’s fanfiction, and then I will spend my DAYS reading fanfiction, and not actually writing anything, and my head would explode. Especially if I found some fanfiction that was BETTER than the books, in which case I would have to track down that particular minion and DESTROY him/her/it. I could do it, you know. I have special ninja-leprechaun powers. Oh yes.

There are some of you out there who have defended Transformers 2 and Van Helsing, claiming that they are actually “good” films. Allow me a moment to laugh at your small, small brains. Van Helsing is a TRAVESTY of a film and should be put down immediately. It’s not fun, it’s not energetic, it’s just BAD. And as for Transformers 2... I saw the first one and I thought, there is no way the sequel could be worse. I was wrong. I was so, so wrong.

Strangely, though, absolutely no one has left me a comment defending GI Joe, and for that, you have my grudging respect.

Video games get the occasional mention in the comments. I have both played and loved the Metal Gear Solid series, and Modern Warfare. I did laugh, however, at the comment from the girl whose parents thought a PS2 guitar would work with a Wii. Old people are so funny with the stupid things they think...

Someone, by the way, has DARED to mention the possibility that I come across as “arrogant” in this Blog. Pffft! Is it “arrogance” to KNOW that I am simply superior? Is it “arrogance” to BEHAVE like we have all accepted this fact? Is THAT “arrogance”? IS IT?

Oh. Oh, well in that case, yes, I suppose I AM arrogant. And you can’t tell me you don’t love it.

Evidently, there are some comic readers out there. Deadpool and Fullmetal Alchemist, eh? I read neither, but probably should read both. I’m a big Spider-Man fan, love the Avengers, Kick-Ass is wonderful, and Hellboy is sublime. Basically, I love any comic that is written by someone who is better than me. Reading this stuff just fills me with enthusiasm to do even better myself- the same reaction I get after reading a good book or watching a great film.

In my own way I... I suppose I kind of hope to have the same effect on somebody else. That, maybe, hopefully, one of you out there, my minions, will read something I’ve written and then, fired up with creativity and energy, you will go and create your OWN work, and it will be glorious to behold. Maybe you’ll draw a comic, or make a movie, or write a book, and it’s all because you once read Skulduggery Pleasant...

Of course, if you write a book and it beats me to the Number One spot in the Bestseller list, I will hunt you down with my ninja-leprechaun powers, and you will never be safe again.

EVER.

That is all.

You CANNOT be a Spiderman fan. You cannot. I forbid you.
It goes like this normally...
"Oh noes, another villain in New York creating trouble!
Spiderman will save them!
But he must tell MJ his identity!
Before he does, SHE (or Aunt May) GETS KIDNAPPED BY THE VILLAIN!
Spidey must make a terrible choice..."
Oh no wait. He doesn't. He always saves the day, defeats the villain, makes an enemy and saves his lover and family. Yippee yay.

On the bright side, I do intend to get as famous and as superior as you ever since I read Skulduggery Pleasant.

Watch out for me, your artistic leprechaun obliterator.

Vikki said...

Spiderman, huh? I'm more of an X-Men kinda girl. And your books don't fill me with creativity really. Just angst and insecurity at the knowledge that your writing is far superior to anything I will ever write.

Mrblah3 said...

I actually wrote a big long comment, but i forgot to put in security thiny.
I think everybody should read your book to find out how to make amusing dialogue and a character likeable through that. (Even the baddys: aka billy ray sanguine)
And maybe your already worshiped as god...you never know

CleoLamora said...

It's better to be arrogant than humble. Why?

HUMBLE PEOPLE LIE BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO LAME FOR REALITY! AND LIES ARE BAAD! (Right!)

ARROGANT PEOPLE TELL THE TRUTH BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO ARROGANT TO SEE THAT THE TRUTH HURTS! (So true!)

Fullmetal Alchemist eh? hmmm how can i say this succinctly?...You should DEFINITELY read it... highly recommended...and if you do...let us know what you think! (if you have the time that is) ^_^

Haha, so very sorry that I, and all of these blogger-commenting-fools made you write a WHOLE blog post for us. It made me stop and think... do I really want to have you blog on my homepage- The answer: Yes :) Very sorry to you Sir.

As for arrogant, well yes I think you might, but it's all part of the brilliance and incredible witt that you use so wisely so I'm not sure anyone really has the right to complain.

Just a note- doesn't it drive you mad that people post comments on this blog and don't use propper punctuation or capital letters?

Anyway, how do you know people don't allready worship you as a god? Or you haven't allready inspired people with your brilliance? Im pretty certain that you in your self inspire people as you have a great personality to set a character out of... oh I was supost to be talking about your books huh. Allthough, if a book of mine does outwit and conquer your books and become much much better than yours (just a thought- doubt it as I can't write for toffee) then I am not scared as I have secretly been trained by the CIA to kill. I am also suited up with all of the latest technology including a handy forcefield so your powers would be pretty useless against me :)

Good Day Mr. Landy.

As a side-topic, I know when you're writing you listen to soundtracks, but when you're not writing, what sort of genre of music do you most listen to? Which planet is your favourite band from?

Ka-SNORT!!!
I do believe you've just done what I thought was impossible, Mr. Landy... 'ninja-leprechauns'?!
Hahahaha! That is CLASSIC! I don't think I'll be able to think 'ninja' without imagining a leprechaun instead, and it's all because of you! (*Though a contributing factor may have something to do with Danny Bhoy*)

And to agree with you, yes... we love you because you're arrogant. Not because your intelligence is amazing. Not because your sense of humour is one to be rivalled. No, those things aren't even taken into consideration. You're arrogant, and that is why we love you, and (perhaps) worship you.

I have to admit though, you do remind me (slightly) of Deadpool...... Deadpool is friggen AWESOME...so, I s'pose that makes you (by association) awesome too. Do you think you can handle that as well? Mr. Derek Landy, aka "that arrogant awesome guy"... hmmm, needs work.

And I take the challenge on board. One day I shall have a book published that snatches the Number One spot, and it'll be thanks to you, once again.

Haha, 'ninja-leprechaun'!

My respect for you has increased tenfold, given your opinion of the Avengers and Hellboy comics. If I were a Christian, this would likely put you on a respect level with God.

So, on the chance that you do choose to respond to comments once more- have you seen the Hellboy movies, and what would your opinion of them be?

Also, what is your opinion of Skulduggery fanart?

SaneLunatic said...

Spiderman?! Really? Are you suuree? I think he's rather annoying, too be honest. But the second film made me laugh, when he's in the cupboard and falling over with the pizzas...yes..I shall stop now.

I'm more of a Batman person, or X-Men (:

Ooh, your books do fill me with creativity, but then it gets overpowered by all the awesomeness that seems to emit from the pages everytime I turn them and I have to go and jump out the window...I don't know why. (I don't really I just thought it would sound more cool if I did) ;P

I'm starting to doubt my film watching skills. Was it Spiderman 2 where he falls out of the cupboard with pizzas? I'm not sure...But go watch Avatar!! It's epic.

Personally, I like Batman, Sandman and Hellblazer more but I'm a massive Neil Gaiman fan also ^^, Fullmetal is really worth reading, it's awesome beyond belief!

Also, indeed, what music do you listen to?

Just to inflate your head a bit, I shall tell you that reading SP really DOES help inspire me with my own writing. My book will blatantly be better, but you shall never find me because apparently, so I’ve been told, I actually don’t exist. If, on the slight chance you did manage to track me down, my pirate-ninja skills would be superior to your ninja-leprechaun powers :P well… maybe not, but I can dream…

Oh, Derek. Derek, Derek, Darek, you are, I think I'm safe to say, totally and utterly awesome! And, as far as you and insparation's go, you have utterly inspired me... to... draw? Well, y'know, its thanks to your books I can draw as well as I can, and Tom, of course. But I think I've said that on Bebo like, a billion times! And you've also driven me to write a fan fic, and thanks to that people keep telling me to update it. You can't RUSH laziness! Sheesh! And HOW could you not like the Transformers' movies? I love them!

I'd better not tell mum theres a Hellboy comic, cos she'll force me to DRAW him. Now, thanks to Sky Movies, she's seen the Golden Army and is an annoying fan girl of it!

And, Derek *tries China thing* you WILL list your 5 favorite music artists in your blog, you WILL!

Farewell, sir Awesome!

Oh, Derek, you amuse me so with your witty remarks about ninja-leprechauns. I bet you have your fun trying to convince all of us that you don't want comments >:3 nice try, mister! (either that or we're really evil xD) We all know you adore getting comments from us, your minions, and we love commenting on these witty blog posts Oh-great-god-of-arrogance.

Aside from that, I swear I won't bug you about the movie. I would simply love to be in it, of course, but I can't. (this isn't because of any language barrier. It's mostly because of the "I need money to fly from here to there" barrier.)

I'm severely looking forwards to getting my hands on Dark Days, which will be in my possession pretty much as soon as Amazon gets it.

And then, on a final note... Have a good day, sir. :3

Thankyou for saying about the fan-fiction thing.
I was so DUMB in your glorious presence and I am sorry my Lord, so, terribly sorry. Please do not smite me with your ninja-leprechaun powers!

And, by the way, oh powerful lord of Skulduggery-ness - your writings did inspire me to start writing a book. I will not tell you where it is posted, though, in fear of your ninja-leprachaun powers.

But you are not to worry, my leauge, I fear this book will never get published nevermind beat you to the top. I shall not rest until the ENTIRE WORLD knows the AWESOMNESS of Derek Landy!! Or, at least the whole school.

...

Thankyou.

I already beat you in the bestseller lists... I'm actually J.K Rowling in disguise.

its funny, i havent seen Van Helsing, Tranformers, GI Joe antway so now I have even more reason not to watch it. OH and Spiderman it the worst movie! it should be destroyed in a fire and then burnt to a crisp and eaten by a little furry monkey creature... anyway, i rambling and i will beat you in the bestseller list, ive already started my novel ;) what are your fave movies anyway?

Sorry but I've realized that I have no hope of stopping myself from commenting!

Anyway I thought Spiderman was pretty good!I also liked the movie Hellboy, but the first one was much better than the second.I'm afraid I haven't heard of the other 2 though.

I've never seen Van Helsing though.G.I.Joe was decent.Only decent, but still,Decent.(wow am I actually disagreeing with Mr. Landy?????)Also,I say quite grudgingly, oh master, I really enjoyed both Transformers 1 and 2.

You wouldn't,by any chance have watched The Count of Monte Christo,The Princess Bride (which I know sounds quite girly, but is not.In fact it is one of my brothers (who, I'll have you know is quite manly) favorite movies, or Pink Panther 1??Those are some of my favorite movies.Especially The Count of Monte Christo.

Oh and by the way, your absolutely correct!I could never deny that one of the reasons why I love you is because you are arrogant!

Also I take it that,as I see your taste in video games you wouldn't perhaps like Kingdom Hearts at all, whatsoever???

Do you ever watch regular tv??(If you happened to decide you need grace us with a whole blog about OUR pathetic comments again.)If you do, what's your favorite show and cartoon??(Yes, of course I know you like cartoons.)I really like The Mentalist and Ghost Whisperer. (Though I know Ghost Whisperer is complete rubish and basically is the same thing every episode.)My avorite cartoon that, sadly, does no longer come on tv is Animaniacs. My favorite cartoon that DOES still come on tv is Teen Titans lol.

Terribly sorry to post such a large comment (that will probably still continue a bit), but when I get actually talking with someone I love who knows nothing about me (except, in your case I love your books) I really carry on.

By the way SaneLunatic I completely understand!I just want to jump around the room every time I turn the page and read a new sentance, and scream and yell with delight " this guy is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!"

P.S. (whatever that means) If you would EVER like to grace me with your......self.....my e-mail address is sakura.c@goowy.com!!! (without the exclamation points.)

Farewell,
Charity

If i were (a butterfly) to write a better book than you, do you really think that i would not (fly away)surround myself with increasing tall people, people who could protect me from ninja leprechauns (not overly difficult) leaving me in peace to (eat my zatzoomahs) write more bestsellers. Because that is what i would do, i would not let anyone near me, i in fact would make people use string-cup phones to chat (for they cannot be bugged), lest they attempt a (probably badly choreographed) assassination.
Post Script: The brackets tell a story of their own, they are unimportant in the "grand scheme" if the comment, and while they make sense to me, your tiny brain may not comprehend. Have a pleasant day :)

Mr. Landy, you won't be able to track me down and hunt me when I steal the 1st place in the Bestseller list. I've read the Evil Overlord List (if you didn't find it yet, Lord Google may have the answer), and I know that NO ONE must know the location of my fortress.

And you wouldn't be able to find me, even if you used your ninja-leprechaun powers. You'd need a smart detective to track me down.

In any case, I should stop gloating before you use Skulduggery's way of thinking and find me. Have a nice day, Mr. Landy...

Ninja-leprechauns? Oh, I can do better than that!

Well, actually, I can't, so... Just pretend that thing I wrote just now ain't there, k?
And, yes, the film. I have been dying to know if it was going anywhere, but you pretty much left my knowledge of it in the same state... So crule...
And, yes. Fullmetal Alchemist is nothing less than absolutly awesome. Also, if you haven't go see that new Sherlock Holmes movie. It's just furbloging fantastic.
And, yes. One day, I will be good enough to make your ninja-leprechaun powers go after me! Hopefully, anyway... And than I'm going to have to hire some big guys hired to be respectfull, but only to one person, and downright offensive to anyone else (wasn't it Chatharine Webb who wrote that? She's an awesome writer by the way.) or be super fast to get the red belt in Taikwondo... And that's like... I don't know how many belts to go...

The world is ending... u havent read fullmetal alchemist (i may only be halfway through, but shut it). Spiderman sucks. Fullstop(no effence, but really, a ninja-leprechaun powered person fighter thing... it doesnt sound scary) I no what you mean with the fanfictions, i read them alot, and i know one girl who surpasses you(lol) and she also writes on your blog. I'd tell you to read mine, but you'd die of boredem before you got halfway thorugh, seriously. AND STOP BEING PESSEMISTIC!!!!! People (somewere) like those movies, but they just dont.... well... write about it on blogs... And one up on the person who calls you arrogant(god i arent half mean). Lol fail. Sir Landy, (that should satisfy your ego, and make this comment worth responding to? and of course making a lame joke about)

I would have never picked you as a spiderman fan as far as comics go? Surely you'd be more into some Sin City? Watchmen? What about movie wise? A Clockwork Orange, predict I.

You've influenced me in saying Bah, Humbug! More than anything else. Oh and could you please give your thoughts on that horrid console known as the 360 wherein you can not play the mighty metal gear solid.

(What if we like the Transformers films but know it's awful? Is that OK? My Trans-geekery won't let me not like them on SOME level.)

After reading all your blogs and reading three of your comments I have to say you are the weirdest person in the world and attract even weirder people...Including me...However I am writing about six different books and I plan to finish at least one before I'm thirteen, though now I'm almost terrofied to continue because of my completely rational fear of leprechauns. As for ninjas, they don't faze me in the slightest. Sorry. And as for my name thing at the top that's not my name it's my mothers. My taken name is Riki and do not say it's a boys name or I will....do something....That's it...

I would say your books have inspired me to write more. I've been writing ever since I was small and had crayons up my nose... ah, you should have seen me; aged six, buried in The Guardian and scribbling on yellow lined paper...
Anyway. Your books have had a fantastic effect on me and I am now writing more and possibly better than ever before. They've inspired me to do the comics as well, but I can't publish those because you would get me with the ninja-leprechaun powers, which I have a secret phobia of.
