Behold the awesome!
On April 5th, in London, as part of my tour, we are offering a day at the movies, where I will be discussing the many movie influences that have shaped my life and, more specifically, that have shaped the Demon Road trilogy.
We are breaking the day into two halves.
At 1 PM, younger readers, accompanied by an adult, can go to the Picturehouse Cinema in London and experience 80's comedy-horror classic GREMLINS on the big screen...! It'll be my first time seeing it up there too — I've only ever seen this film on TV, so I am HUGELY excited.
Desolation will be available to buy, I'll be doing a Q&A, and signing whatever you have. It's going to be FUN.
And then we'll be repeating the format at 8:30 that night, when we'll be showing the original A Nightmare on Elm Street to a STRICTLY over-18 crowd...!
Again, I was too young to see this in the movies when it came out, and as one of my all time favourite horrors, I can't wait to see this in all its glory.
Come! See Johnny Depp get blender-ised in his Bed of Death!
Naturally, anyone 18 or over can come to both movies and make a day of it — as I will be — but sadly the younger Minions can not savour the delights of Freddy Krueger — at least not until you're older...

Hello, Noelle, if you're still here. How are you?
Oh wow, didn't realize that much time had passed.
FREEDOM!!!!!!!
*RUNS AROUND SETTING OFF FIREWORKS*
(*is bored*
*sits in psychology *£
(Okay, so my phone is broken. Gonna take it to town saturday and try find somewhere to give me a quote about fixing it. Also it is amazing how self concious I become about my spelling when I no longer have auto correct to tell me if I'm spelling something wrong and to correct it for me!)
@Jai: :( :( :(
(*is on train*
*this is the fourth time someone's sat by me*)
(Where you going Chloe?)
Haha my mum went on a long train journey recently and when she came back she'd made like three friends by sitring next to strangers on the train and she came home and was like telling us all about them. XD
It's a wonder she managed to have a daughter as antisocial as me.
(*is so bored*
*has ended up making a tumblr account*)
I WANT TO FOLLOW YOU JAI
MY NAME IS thatcarzypersoninthecornerrrrr
When your life just falls apart
*hugs Noelle with a concerned expression *
The first two articles I see on BBC news is about the Brussels attacks and the third is about a man killed in Glasgow for being a Muslim
I fear for the world right now, really I do. :/
^actually, apparently it was Muslim-on-Muslim violence, sorry about that.
Either way, I fear for the world. -_-
@Saoirse: No, I didn't hear about it. :(
I'm just scared about what this will progress to. The world feels less peaceful now, and I'm really worried about the way people are starting to regard Muslims. Multiple people on AVEN want to ban Muslims (either from the US or from Europe). It's so scary.
(I guess the scariest part is that I have no idea how to end it. Meh.)
Good morningggggg.
Right this place has been a bit dead so imma try and stick around today and see if it wakes up.
*waves, but not here enough to stay*
Sorry, Star.
If you're still here that is.
*leaves tea and cookies*
:) It's fine, Lav. I'm not trying to stay here because I'm desperate for company, I'm just a little concerned about the future of the blog. :/
*sips tea happily*
(*waves*)
:) *waves back to Keiron*
Wbd. Trying to revise.
( it's ok I've been distant kinda catching up with all these shows )
@Keiron: *nods*
:) Hey Noelle.
(ONE OF THE NYSTWRY LOVATIONS ON ANT AND DEC IS SANDY WATER PARK AND THATS ROUND WHERE I LIVW)
*nods like I know what Chloe's talking about* :P
(Between ISIS and Donald Trump, the world does not stand a great chance of continuing in its current state.
Why there are many people in the world who consider a businessman to be a good president, I will never understand.
A leader has to be selfless, and put the needs of the people before anything else.
As a businessman, he only knows one thing - how to look after himself. Business, by definition, is selfish. Incredibly so. Pair that with his rather... destructive opinions concerning rather a lot of subjects, and you hardly have the makings of a good leader. You have the makings of a war. Nothing more, and nothing less.)
@Sophia: *nods* I wish I could firmly disagree with you, but I totally agree and idk life sucks.
I was really hoping Bernie would have won, but that's looking rather unlikely now.
Tbh I don't know what the hell is even wrong with America. They have way too many guns and not enough abortion clinics, if you ask me. :/ I'm fervently glad to be living in England.
^Not that England's perfect or anything but generally I prefer my chances here
(Turning to someone who has extremist views in an attempt to solve extremism is hardly a smart move, either.)
@Sophia: Haha yes no it isn't
The scary thing is though that no one realises this.
Idk for some reason I keep expecting the world to be fair and make sense but it just doesn't and isn't
*slips in*
*explodes England and Ireland*
*skips off*
( *is sitting comfortably in Scotland* ohhh fireworks :D
lol @this )
Lol yes there would :)
*explodes Scotland too*
*leaves the Aussies, they're funny accented*
Okay. I give up.
How stupid is my father? We left the house (mom and i) at 7:15pm. We got home at 10:30pm. He decides exactly when I am going to bed at 11:30pm to clean the bathroom floor. Now I'm sitting here wanting to go to bed because I'm tired, and I can't go brush my teeth or even put on my face cream. And then he wonders why I'm annoyed. I dunno I gotta get up at 8, I want to sleep and I can't because he decided to procrastinate. I go to bed the same goddamn time each night I'm off of school. Doesn't change. So why didn't he communicate to me he was planning. I mean I'm downstairs clueless he decided to do a bathroom floor at 11:30. And I gotta pee but that's okay I'll sit here with a full bladder and tired because he couldn't use his god given head and communicate to me he was gonna do the floor. I mean if I'm doing my gerbil cage I communicate they are going to roll around on the kitchen floor. My dad announces his every move but when its normal to do so he can't....
*hugs Zaf*
:(
Thb I really don't think America will elect Donald Drumpf.
I think there's just enough sane people? Or maybe it's just wistful thinking. I mean, he's made it this far...
Also, @Any Brits or people who know British candy: what's your favorite type?? I've tried pastels (? I think that's what they're called?) and crunchies (love these! My brother and I got my Grandma to order a 24 pack off Amazon XD). Also Twix, Skittles and M&Ms are easily found in the states.
I love Skittles and Crunchies and Fruit Pastels and Twix. <3 I also like Wine Gums and Fruit Polos (like Polo Mints except fruit) and I like Curly Wurlys. Mmh. Obviously YMMV.
Dude my family are like yelling for me but I don't want to get out of bed *hides*
I'VE HEARD OF JELLY BABIES(blame Rick Riordan XP) AND EVER SINCE, WANTED TO TRY THEM.
(GALAXY CHOCOLAATE IS THE BEST)
Fucking great. My brothers have managed to ruin my easter for me by finding all my eggs before i woke up. Fucking assholes. I'm so pissed right now.
I've been playing an Easter egg hunt game with them helping them find the eggs but when it comes to the real thing they don't even fucking wake me up? This is one of my favourite holidays...it's different to everything else...you have to find all your chocolate. That's the fun of it..so what's the fucking point now?
I love Galaxy.<3
I love Milka more though. <3
XD you love chocolate dontcha star? XD
I'm not a chocolate monster (that's my sister), but I do tend to enjoy it if it's good chocolate.
hehe, fair enough :) how's easter? :P oh btw, happy easter :P
@Fera: :) Sorry for late response, revising. Happy Easter. :)
It's alright so far. Quite stressed; not enough time to do all the revision I want to do as well as draw and y'know exist. :P
Oooh, I have love chrunchies and I currently have a bag of fruit pastels I got in the London airport!
Now I'm on a train from Gothenburg to Copenhagen!!!
(Ferrero Roche
Terry's chocolate orange
Smarties
Magic stars
Maoams
Rainbow drops
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh..think that's all the ones I would say I like enough to recommend..)
(Still think you should come somewhere further north for just a day xD)
**uh, forget the have in the sentence I love crunchies.
And the ch in crunchies.
What was I thinking??
Oooh, thanks Jai!
And I wanted to! But we only have two days in London so my mom just wants to stay in the city :/
But I will return and visit other places in England one day!!
Yeah. It's so weird when you watch TV and everyone has Southern accents. Like "dude we exist you know." And then when there was flooding in Cumbria (was it there?) it barely got news coverage coz they couldn't be bothered to come and film up North, and there was only like good coverage when York (major city) got flooded. Oh and I'm pretty sure Hull barely got covered in the 2007 floods (I took my mum's word for that coz I was pretty young then) even though they were AWFUL (I remember them. Had to take a day off school because all the touted out of the city were flooded). And don't forget that Hull was one of the cities to suffer the worst bombing during WW11 because they would dump any leftover bombs on us on the way back home, but you wouldn't recognise Hull as a major city that got bombed. My mum will drive down streets in Hull and just point to all where all the bombs were (like there'll be a row of matching buildings and then a random one in the middle where a bomb fell).
Sorry. One of the things my mum very commonly rants about.
So, out of the ones Jai recommend:
Ferrero Roche: have those in the states! They're good!!
Terry's chocolate orange: looks good! I want to try that!
Smarties: have those in the states as well! Not my favourite but I still enjoy them
Magic stars: want to try these!!
Maoams: my uncle brought some back one time and they were really good!!
Rainbow drops: my uncle also brought back these! They were kinda odd XD
I used to love Magic Stars. Not the way they tasted, just the little faces . . .
Love Maoams too. <3
Haven't tried rainbow drops, I don't think.
(Shhh I drink tea and say "bloody hell" I'm British enough don't sue me.)
(My german friend don't get Terry's Chocolate Oranges but she came to England and had one and loves them xD Now at christmas and her birthday she gets a Terry's Chocolate Orange. They tasty..
Magic stars have adorable faces. I always try find pairs before eating them so they don't die alone without one of their kind *I'm wierd I know*
Maoams are cools, hard to spell..
I love rainbow drops. They ARE odd but they're amazing.
*shakes head at Star's Britishness*
*doesn't like tea, makes me gip, not good*
*does, however, say bloody hell occasionally*)
Okay, I need to try the chocolate oranges!!
And the magic stars have faces??? I looked them up and !!!!
Sweden also has good candy. I think it's really interesting that a lot (all?) of the British candy doesn't have artificial colours or flavours. I think every American candy does XD
*laughs*
Yeah, I'm not British XD
(Yes you do. They're tasty. All my friends think so too xD
Yep! They're so cute!
Well I mean, I'm not all prim and proper and stuck up.
I always forget to say please, although I do apologise a lot and usually always say thank you.
I don't drink tea.
I do say bloody hell.
So maybe in terms of stereotypes I'm part british.)
*le gasp*
ColoUrs? FlavoUrs? Duggy, you're /turning/ Brittish! XD
*facepalms at double T in British*
I on the other hand, am a horrible speller. XP
On the topic of Brits, DUDES I LOVE YOUR ACCENTS. All kinds, not just the Queens Victorian or whatever all those actors use.
*trying to sound smart*
*probably failing*
*shutting up now*
Right. And I'm off again anyway. Have a good day, and happy Easter!
*poofs to sleep*
(xD I hadn't noticed she'd done that. WE ARE INFECTING THE DUGGLYN WITH OUR SPELLING! SOON SHE SHALL SPELL ALL WORDS THE BRITISH WAY! HER HONOR WILL BECOME HONOUR! HER COLOR, COLOUR! SHE WILL BE ONE OF US!
You definitely need to hear more accents then xD Some are just attrocious.
*Don't shut up!*)
I LOVE BRITISH ACCENTS
ANY OF THEM
THOUGH I'VE MOSTLY HEARD THE POSH BBC ACCENTS AND LONDEN ACCENTS
Oops I didn't realize i even did that! XD I've just gotten used to seeing it I guess?
Omg ikr I LOVE British accents. Posh ones, Yorkshire ones, Liverpudlian ones, Scottish ones . . . love 'em all.
Actually I just tend to love accents tbf.
I think there are so many ways of very British <3 it rocks.
I say "mate" because of Captain Hook from Once Upon A Time and "bloody hell" because of Will from Once Upon A Time In Wonderland.
Speaking of which (*ADVERTISING COMING UP*) there's a spinoff of Once Upon A Time and it's called Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and I really enjoy it. It's just as good as the real thing if you ask me. Alice is bloody annoying though. Don't like her. But Will and the Red Queen are great.
@Jai: Haha I just try and match them up as a little game.
Also
Once Upon A Time In Wonderland
Like 95% of the actors are British. Like you have posh Brits and non-post Brits and there are literally only two Americans I can remember and one of them had a minor part. Considering it's an American show, it's FABULOUS.
Yessss accents in general!!!
Swedish accents are pretty cool!!
Never been to England
Probably never will.
:/
@Zaf: Why not?
i think that the northern Irish accent gets quite a bad rap when compared to eh south. but it can really sound scary as hell! I remember I was at a museum and they'd installed a motion sensor on the roof to scare of lead thieves. when it was tripped, it yelled out:
"we know you're up there! we're calling the police!" in a really thick Belfast accent because it was deemed to be the scariest when shouted.
(What about a good ol welsh accent?)
(*tacklehugs Chloe*)
@chloe (i dunno, to my delicate Scottish ear a thick welsh accent just sounds cuddly most of the time. No idea why. Its just warm to listen to. Like big teddy bears. If it's a Welshman talking to you in anger though, that evaporates pretty quickly. I think its just because the west of Scotland's accents all sound slightly mental.)
( slightly ? have you forgotten about me already ?)
(Ah, of course. I meant, "thoroughly".)
(better *laughs maniacally somehow in a scottish accent *)
(...*skulks back into the dark reccesses of my mind*)
(sweary words. I need to nip out for a sec. One of the trees by my gate has just decided to have a lie down, as the wind is very tiring. bye for now. ^.^)
( sorry did I scare you jai?
*offers hugs* I'm really just a big teddy
-mutters- with teeth if pissed off
:3 whats wrong? )
(I want my phone back! I can't text any of my sisters and I miss them! When I think I might finally be able to talk to one they aren't really here..)
That moment when you're a seventeen-year-old girl and at midnight you go to find your mum to ask her if we have any Lego because your friends want to play with it then they come round tomorrow.
@Jai: :( :( :(
(I have lego :D im 20
:( when do you get it back? ))
(*wants to go a midnight drive*
-doesn't know where-)
(It should hopefully be fixed by wednesday..)
Hey chums.
@Jai: :( Good luck surviving.
@Trip: Yo. :)
How're you doing Star?
:) Alright thanks Trip. Pretty stressed and tires but meh. You?
Msd. Pretty tired.
Pretty much the same. Just watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9S0uHmYmKM and
um
being confused about things like
how does it even work?
@Trip: *looks confused* :P
It's six episodes of tanky goodness.
I was confused too, and I watched all six episodes XD
(*sighs happily* 60 mph on a dodgey one lane country road is so invigorating :D totally unwinds me and it's totally legal too :D )
I can't handle it
[hugs Noelle]
[missed the deleted comments, but sends love]
I just
I have spent wayyyyyy too long trying to think about how I can put this.
I hate Easter, because it is the emblem of consumerism, besides Christmas. I hate Easter because dozens and dozens of pounds of eggs are spoiled each year, because they are dipped in dye and left out and are made inedible. That carton could have gone to the homeless shelter, if it was going to be wasted. I hate Easter, because society let the corporations take a religious celebration and warp it in such a way that they can make a big profit. I hate Easter because most of the sweets- the chocolate, mainly- are harvested in countries where child slaves lose limbs on a daily basis to hacking up cocoa beans. Kids who lose their lives to the chocolate trade, and literally no one cares about the bigger picture- about how detrimental and how dark every holiday can be.
That is my honest opinion. I hate consumerism, and I try to buy fair trade, or not buy it at all. It just makes me so angry, the hype- there is no point of Easter anymore. At least in Christmas, it is about family and togetherness or something, but Easter is an emblem of greed and profit. And I absolutely hate this time of year.
Again, that's my opinion. So take it apart if you want, if you don't want it to crush your dreams, but what I'm saying does have a grain of truth to it. And I would, of course, invite whoever reads this to honestly and truly take a moment to think about what I said. Self-analysis and all that.
I'm sorry that Easter makes you feel that way, Noelle.
:/
Ditto Fabi, I'm sorry it makes you feel that way.
*offers hugs*
...and about the eggs: I didn't realize people don't eat the ones they dye? We always dye hard boiled ones and we always eat them.
I don't understand, why wouldn't people eat them? They're perfectly good, they are just prettier on the outside!! (Not asking you of course, Noelle, just merely confused on my people waste all those eggs!)
((Also, completely random: so apparently in Europe they don't refrigerate their eggs??? My mom was telling me this and I wasn't sure I believed that but at the Swedish grocery store none of them weird cold! Apparently it was something to do with they way they prevent salmonella. But they eggs don't spoil faster outside of the refrigerator! It's so weird!))
**none of them were cold
@Dugglyn: As a Brit - in the supermarket they're not refrigerated, but when we get home we put them in the fridge.
*thinks Easter, for me, is one of those things like veganism - as in, I would be a much better person if I did/didn't abide by it, but I'm probably never going to*
(We don't refrigerate eggs.)
(I do)
This place is awfully quiet [throws stone down tunnel and listens as it echoes].
