It's a proper book now.
Demon Road was a little over 121,000. I had wanted it to be 80,000, which is roughly the size of Dark Days. Obviously, that didn't happen. But I am DETERMINED that Desolation be of a more manageable size. It'll probably end up somewhere around the 100,000 mark.
Writing a book can be a struggle. It's just so happened that in the writing of this one, every time I started to flow, and write LOTS, I had to go off on tour or do festivals or get interrupted for a multitude of reasons. It's very hard to build up any kind of rhythm when your writing schedule is kinda messed up.
But I'm flowing now. I want to get this latest draft off to my editor on Monday, because on Tuesday I'm off on holiday to Disneyworld and Universal Studios.
For Halloween.
Ooooooh this is gonna be my kind of holiday. By day, we go to Magic Kingdom, and go on rides and visit Harry Potter world and just have good, nice lovely fun...
But at night...
Universal Studios over Halloween has the most terrifying horror experiences on offer, and I will be going and subjecting my girlfriend to the ordeal. I'm going to tweet about it. I'm going to take videos. You may see me scream.
But it shall be a manly scream. A WAR CRY.
And then I'll run away and leave Laura to face this guy on her own.
Gonna be FUN.

Celia: *is motionless so can only watch*
Fera: *fera tries to open the door, but clown lashes out at his hand and barely scrapes his arm* *moves around room quickly, but so does the puppet* ....this isn't working...do you have a mirror, celia?
Celia: *tries to get off the bed but she is too shocked*
Fera: ...fucking...shit...*he is still moving around the room* pass the key!
Celia: *slowly she is able to move her right foot*
Fera: *tries to get past the puppet, but it seems to be able to mimic any movement, no matter how fast*
Celia: *snaps out of it and grabs the key*
*mumbles* Fera...

The boy (Glenn?) died because of vampires, right? Does that mean he'll come back as a vampire or...?
Fera: pass it!
Celia: *watches the puppet* *gulps and takes a step towards Fera*
Fera: *approaches door*
Celia: *runs over to him and hands him the key* *looks at the puppet*
Fera: *puppet has a huge, unnatural smile and looks back at her* *fera holds keys in front of its eyes and it seems to be following them, like a dog* *he opens door and throws keys outside the room* *puppet follows and fera shuts door*
Celia: *freezes in place again*

Celia: *tries to talk but no words come to mind*
Fera: *turns to her* wanna..get back to bed? *smiles*
Celia: After that? How can you just...?

Fera: oh that...a malevolent spirit *nods* was pretty deceivable, though.

Fera: ...I really have no idea...maybe tried to make us stay? possibly? I mean, i don't know its intentions *nods*
Celia: Who are you? I want some serious answers now. Who are you, what are you, how can you do the weird opening locked door and making people disappear tricks, how did you know what that was blah blah blah.
Fera: I am some mysterious guy, remember? I've seen that kinda thing before..oh and the door opening? It really wasn't even a trick *laughs*
Con: *screams inside his kill room the walls thicken to dampen the sound* WHY IN THE WORLD DID I DO THAT? *stabs a torture table with lashes of shadows until it dissipates into nothing...*
Celia: Mysterious guy meaning? Are you an alien or magician or what? No other person I have ever heard of can make people disappear.

AU!Sil: *grins, running round with ACTUAL blood because it looks so much more realistic, getting some of her old, dull knives, craving random slashes in trees, coating basically everything (herself included) in the blood*
*climbs up a tree, stringing up a bunch of suspiciously realistic skulls up along with fairy lights*
Con: lets them naturally drip out onto the grass below smirking*

*does the same thing with the balloons on the roof, but drags her claws through them so they pop and have scratch marks through them*
