On August 26th, just twelve short days away, we will be kicking off the tour with a NEW, special event in Waterstones in Hampstead. Apart from the fact that you'll be able to snag a copy of Demon Road a day ahead of its release (you'll even be able to snag one of the limited Platinum editions), and for a full TWO POUNDS off, we'll also have goodies to give out on the night, I'll be yammering on about writing or some such nonsense, and then I'll be signing whatever you want me to sign.
Reserve tickets in store or on www.waterstones.com/events.
This is IMPORTANT, and it applies to all of the signings and events — I will sign WHATEVER you bring. I don't care what the book is (so long as I've, y'know, actually written it) and I don't care how many are in your bag. If someone, at whatever signing you turn up to, tells you I'm only going to sign books you buy in their store, let me know and I'll sort it out. That rarely happens anymore, but some staff members are over-eager. Obviously time is sometimes an issue, so if the queue is long as I have to jet off to the next signing, we'll impose some limitations — but that's always a last resort.

I don't buy that rubbish about love being the strongest power of all, but I think love is awesome and very very nice and potentionally my favourite thing in life.

I do know, though, that for me, trying to express my emotions to get them over with just means I think about them for longer and makes them last longer. Trying to take my mind off them is what works, for me.

Seriously guys. A normal floor. Not a carpet or so. Tiles? NOTHING you can do breaks tiles. We have machines that weigh 300kg + and they don't break tiles. You'd have to be a Klitschko and punch full force to harm a tile. 0o

And linoleum is tough as hell, too... 0o
Oh, when people say 'floor' I picture wooden floor boards like there are in my bedroom and the living room downstairs.
When the kitchen lights are on you can see the light shining up through the cracks in my floorboards.
You couldn't break the floor down into the kitchen that easily, I don't think, but you could break through into the kitchen lights because in those sections of floor there's pretty much just the floorboards, nothing underneath.
Star... I... see, I know many English houses are old. But... that... what if you spill some kind of liquid there?
I don't think that's acceptable by standards over here.. 0o
(And we have wooden floors, too, below the linoleum and carpet and what not. Or in the house we rent out, without anything. But no way in hell could you ever leave it so thin you can see the room below through the gaps. I'm just a bit... puzzled right now.)

@Aquila: My house isn't that old. I'm not sure how old it is, but my old house was really old (we lived in two fifths of the original house. The original house was a mansion and it was so old that the glass in the windows was all in little panes, not one big sheet, and there were funny bits in the glass because the glass had been in the windows so long that it had moved), and this house is really not old compared to that (this house is semi-detached, and has modern windows).
We just pulled the carpets off the floors when we moved in.

No one else I know has floorboards like this. Apparently having floorboards instead of carpets was fashionable when we lived down South.
And, no, most of the floor isn't that thin. Just, the kitchen lights are sort of built into the ceiling/floor, so you can only really access them properly by pulling up my floorboards - when we changed the kitchen lights we had to move my furniture and stuff. Therefore, where there's a light, there's sort of a gap between my floorboards and the kitchen ceiling, which is left there so you can deal with the lights. The part of my bedroom floor that doesn't have lights under it is properly thick.
I'm not sure if that made ANY sense. I'm rather bad at explaining.

I would take pictures, but I can't get the floorboards up without a screwdriver, and also I hate sharing pictures on Blogger because you can only do it via profile pictures. It's horrendously inconvenient.
Sharing pictures on WhatsApp could not be easier - hit camera button next to place where you type messages, take picture, hit send.
Easy.
Not any of this stuff of 'go to camera app, take a picture, save it, edit it in order to make it more likely that people will be able to see it, click edit profile, click change profile picture, choose picture, click upload, click save, close tab, and then are left with a tiny picture that has all the colours wrong'.
Aaaah, so it's a case of strangely put lights instead of a strange floor. That makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE to me. XD Thanks for explaining, Star. ^^

Inky: I once decided to do a run in PE barefoot and had big blisters over all of my soles. Like really, every bit of my sole that rubbed agains the floor was part of one or another huge blister.
I decided not to poke them open, and they healed within a week or two. :) .. I walked a bit funny for that time, though. XD
