This is something I've had in mind for years — a super supreme limited edition of only 1000 copies— the Black Edition. Those lucky few who have managed to get your hands on a proof copy of the first book should recognise the design we're echoing, bringing the whole thing full circle...
We're working with Waterstones on this, and so the Black Edition will only be available in their shops. You won't be able to preorder these. You won't be able to reserve one online or in person. Not even Waterstones STAFF can preorder these for THEMSELVES! On the day of publication, they will be put on the SHELVES — not on a table, not in the store window, not on a table out in front, but on the SHELVES. So you'll have to go hunting for them.
We already have 5000 copies of a Special Edition that comes signed, with that stunning cover, but the Black Edition will NOT be signed, and there will be a ONE PER PERSON policy. Basically, we're torturing you. We're making you choose.
The fact is, because there will only be 1000 printed, and so each store will only get a limited amount of copies, the chances of YOU, individual Minion, managing to snag one is pretty low. Because there is no way to guarantee that you get one, you're just going to have to be EXTREMELY lucky. Oh, and you should also check Twitter that day, because the stores will be tweeting how many copies they've got left. Until they tweet, there is no way of telling how many copies a particular store will have received.
Ooooh I can't wait to get mine....

*Ariana giggled, thinking Roland was telling a joke.*

My mom always said Iknow my own limits, if 10pm on a school night is my cut off, fine. I know what time I need to go to bed to wake up and get through the day. There are no symptoms, she just becomes very agitated and cries.
And it is not an illness per say, it is just something that comes with being a silver mage. Her mother and father must cut to relive some pressure as well.
*Ariana giggles again and blows raspberries at Sortilege. She places her hand on Roland's and it burns him slightly. He doesn't let it show though cause he knows she doesn't mean it.*

For a forcefield to work it must have a hole. Otherwise it becomes brittle and weak.

*Roland shushed Ariana, wiping the silver tears from her face as she got a fright from the needle.*
Roland: It is okay little one.

Ok, I have a temporary cure for her. Well, two actually. One will last about an hour. The other will last about a week but will hurt her.
The powder? It stabilizes the blood so that I can test it.
Roland: I was told by my sister that there was no cure.
And a cure? What exactly is her ailment?
Sorry, not cure, a treatment.
I'm ever so sorry, I've been so unprofessional this entire visit.
*Ariana cooed and waved her arms at Sortilege.*
Roland: So what are her options?
Ok, the first one is something I can do now. It has the effects of a very strong sleeping pill. It will, for a brief period of time, neutralize the magical instabilities inside her which will in turn promote normal cell growth.
Roland: Of course not, I feel that you have been very professional in your actions and conduct.
You can not prolong these things when dealing with a child.
But what will that do for the rest of her magic? And her wings are growing as well, will that affect them??
*nervously waves back at Ariana*

Imagine it as her going to sleep and waking up with less magic and more health. Her magic will eventually overcome the base and her power will build up until she's at where she was before.
Picture this: say you have an iPhone. When you turn the screen to full brightness then it hurts your eyes. And it also burns through the battery. What this treatment does is dim the brightness. It doesn't affect the battery level in a negative way. In fact it will save her energy. She will have more stamina.
