AOH Trailer

Book trailers are a tricky thing. When they're done badly, they're a little cringey and vaguely embarrassing. But when they're done right, they're AWESOME.

And because we have the incomparable Mr Tom Percival working on our trailers, we pretty much fit into the awesome category every single time.

I love the fact that it's time to release this. We have other stuff yet to be released/announced, such as what EXACTLY the Theatre of Shadows is and how it can involve everyone around the world. We're always trying to find ways to include our far-flung readers in the fun, and I think we've come up with something special.

But enough from me... Behold the awesome.

  2. IT'S AN AWESOME TRAILER TOO

DEREK IS YOU READ THIS PLEASE POST THE WORD "LEMONS"ON YOUR NEXT BLOG POST

    BECAUSE Y'KNOW LEMONS ARE GREAT

    ReplyDelete
  3. That is INCREDIBLY awesome. The 'tragic' bit definitely scares me though

    ReplyDelete
  4. I agree, the "tragic" part is concerning. Is the book actually going to be that thick? It's much better than I'd dared to hope.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Tragic is scary. But tragic is also so entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Looking forward to this (Gordon's story in particular!) Still waiting for the stock to come in at work though... Ah well, plenty of time I guess.
    :)

  7. "Tragic" is not a fun word to use. Neither is "noble" in this context. I am far too emotional about these characters. They have taken over my life. Thank goodness we get a few stories from when things weren't quite so heartbreaking before the inevitable end.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh god...The Ghastly "noble" thing was too much to bear. *chokes up as remembers the horrific chapters*

    ReplyDelete
  9. Why the tragic? Why why why?

    ReplyDelete
  10. My comment from the last post. I said there was a new one, and then wrote this out and posted it there, anyway.

    [Facepalm]

    ...

    Everyone does that, though.

Increases their power so they have a chance.

Or rather, so they're on top.

    No one here likes losing...

And I guess I'm not sure what your definition of "better" is, Chi...

And I'm sorry. I didn't mean this to turn into a find fault with everyone type thing...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Tragic is worrying me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. It's like...

    Yeah, I don't like it.

I'm not going to make you change it, though.

It's not really my place to force my version of what is right on others.

I guess I can understand wanting to be powerful.

I'm just not going to join in.

    If that makes any sense...

    ReplyDelete
  13. (Oh that's a GOOD trailer....Tragic....that's one way to put it....*may be a tad worried*)

*stumbles over to a tree and lays her pounding head against the bark taking deep breaths so as not to puke*
*wipes at her blurry eyes wanting them tk clear*

  14. (Fabi - no, not on top. I don't boost offensive capabilities. Only defensive. Like then. For most of that all the Geth unit was doing was repairing itself and fortifying its shields. It still kept with the flamethrower and the rifle. The damage output didn't change. I didn't WANT it to go all overpowered and kill everyone. Because that would have been no fun. Increasing the defensive rather then offensive means that it evens things out a little. You can take a little more damage than normal but at the same time deal the same amount.)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree with that, Elleni.

That's what I try to do in my plot, when I bother posting it.

There have always been different phases here, though.

Sometimes we roleplay with intricate and emotional plots. Sometimes we blogfight.

Right now this place is in a mostly Blogfighting phase. There are elements of plot, too, but it's mostly about fighting and winning.

And I think it's silly, if I'm being honest, but the people who mostly blogfight thought that detailed roleplay plots were silly.

    So...

    Yeah.

Everyone's always looking over their shoulders and looking down on anyone who looks ahead. And then eventually the people who were looking ahead look over their shoulders and the cycle continues.

  16. Thanks for the feedback Silente. Depending on how bored I am this Summer, I might put up chapters more than once a week. But a most a week. Hopefully.

    ReplyDelete
  17. That wasn't directed at you specifically, Dragona. Sorry if I made it unclear. I mean, it was kind of in response to what you said, but I don't think any one individual is the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  18. *grabs at Elleni's arm head already spinning without the need of the chokehold*

*whimpers tears streaming down her face and weakly tries to pull the arm away*

    *elbows Elleni in the stomach*

    ReplyDelete
  19. (Fabi - I want an emotional plot to happen. I really do. But I have like NO ideas... and none that'll suit the completely overpowered characters that some people have.

I mean, it's like playing Mass Effect.

At the moment, it's like playing Bronze difficulty with a team of Krogan Sentinels who can basically take a shit load of damage and deal even more. The game would be too easy. The enemies wouldn't be strong enough.

But then again, you don't want to play Platinum difficulty either - because then it'd be like playing with two Volus and two Krogan. The Volus would just die because the enemies are so strong, then the Krogan couldn't survive by themselves.

So you have to make a balance. You need a threat, but one that's suitable for everyone. You need it to be a challenge for both weak and strong characters and that's a real problem. Because it's hard to make a threat like that. And I can't do it.)

    ReplyDelete
  20. (Fabi - oh, I know it wasn't like directed fully at me. I was just making a point that there are other ways to make a character more powerful than, "HEY NEGATE ALL DAMAGE AND KILL SOMEONE AND CHOP OFF LIMBS AND MWHAHAHAHA BOOM!")

    ReplyDelete
  21. *whimpers going red*

*slams her head backwards into Elleni's nose*

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am going to rome on the third...Luckily I amazon primed it to come before 1. (Leaving at 5) Can't wait to read a Tanith Low Story post remnant. But I am pretty sure the Dead-Men stories will steal the show!

    ReplyDelete
  23. "Action" isn't always fighting each other, though.

Or at least, it doesn't have to be.

    ...

I don't want to start a big conflict about this.

I think it's probably best if I leave now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. (Elleni - there was once something to do with a werewolf and a wedding and yeah I was present at the wedding but hadn't got a clue what was happening half of the time with the werewolf. The wedding was fun. Everything was fine, then someone like made the bride go unconscious and there was like an internal-vision-battle and everyone else had to like stabilise them and stuff.)

*proceeds to be sick on the floor*

  28. Or keep responding to things because I'm emotionally invested in this place...

    There was one time where...

First Edward went back and destroyed the early humans. Then Niccolò went back and brought them back to life. That part is mostly irrelevant.

Except that this alternate dimension was dying, and there were parallel versions of everybody, and they thought that it was empty because they'd tested and found that humanity had never evolved.

Only by the time they realized people were still there, they sort of panicked and tricked everybody into going into the alternate dimension.

And everyone had their own little subplots, but it was all the same story.

It was almost a year ago... I wish I remembered more details... :-/

  29. *shakes her head*
    I'm.....fine.
*blinks a lot and moves to sit up shakily*
Onwa just...*swallows* dragged up some bad memories....
*looks like she might puke again*
    *tears streaming down her face*

    ReplyDelete
  30. (Fabi - something like that would be really good.)

    ReplyDelete
  31. *shakes her head*
I'm fine. Just shaking of the effects of....yeah.
    *stands and wobbles slightly*
    *leans on a tree*
Sorry. Are you okay? Is the...is the girl okay?

    ReplyDelete
  32. *Explodes onto the scene with much pyrotechnics and other flashy devices used to make grand entrances (Fireworks, lazer lights, stuff like that)*

    Hello everyone! :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. I know conflicts and debates are part of human nature, but they've never been my strong suit... I'm not good at expressing my opinion. I guess it goes back to me feeling like the weak one.

And last year there were a lot of problems between people who wanted to roleplay and people who just wanted to talk. I'm not anxious to repeat that...

Well, we saved people from a building burning with magical fire from this terrorist group... Or at least, we tried. A lot of people died, and then Adra and Fabi confronted the group and Fabi got locked up in this cell and possessed by a shadow ghost (the second time this happened).

I guess not all fighting is with weapons. Some of it is mental, like fighting what's already within you. I'm a lot stronger in strategy than violence.

And when we defeated Alastair before... We didn't try to overpower him. We tried to trick him. It only ended up working by accident because of this magic needle Fabi ordered online that didn't quite work as it was meant to. But yeah...

  34. *tilts head at Blake*

    That display was unnecessary.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Of course it was unnecessary Gethie, I simply felt like doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. *looks at Blake*
    *smiles and coughs slightly*
*stands without the support of the tree and tries to shake of the memories Onwa brought up*
    *fails*
    Hey Blake..
    *waves and stands straighter*
*ignores the images imprinted onto the back of her lids*

  38. *looks at Silente*

    You need medical attention.

    ReplyDelete
  39. *waves the Geth away*

    I'm fine. Nothing I can't handle.

    ReplyDelete
  40. *looks at the Geth Pulse Rifle in its hands*

*puts it on to its back*

You need medical assistance, Tempest-Silente. This unit must insist.

    *smiles*

  43. (My blog. I have the full-sized version of my profile pic, and I'd like it if people read it. You don't have to, though.)

  44. (*hugs Fabz awkwardly* And all those beautiful things it says, they count for you too)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Being shot a lot changes your outlook on getting shot...
And changes how alike you are to someone on the 'how often are you shot' category.

    ReplyDelete
  46. (sure Elleni.)
    (I feel a poem forming...)
(msd to add to my poems blog.)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sort of. The background isn't mine. I got it off the internet.

And I'm borrowing half the words from Lucy (hence why it says 'inspired by Luciana Scath' at the bottom)

But other than that, I made it.

    [hugs Silente]

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sure, Elleni. I've been meaning to read it, actually...

    OKAY BYE KES

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hmm..

I have words mashing together and nothijg to write them on so I'm typini instead

    Perfection

    I remember hearing someone
    Not a long time ago
    Saying perfection isn't being flawless
It's being you and not bending with the flow
Any time I was upset she'd sit and talk to me
Lecture me about how I shouldn't hold it in
She didn't want to see me blue
Was worried that darkness might win

She called me beautiful and amazing
    Put glitter in my hair
Every single time I've been down
    She's always been there
    Proping me up
    Despite any resistance
She's a beautiful soul too you see
    She's been the distance

Because we're all so very different
    We all walk different paths
    And our minds aren't organised
    And neithers what they craft
    Sometimes you'll feel all alone
    Like yesterday's broken toy
    But stay on your feet
    It'll get better soon
Because being perfect is being you.

    ReplyDelete
  50. *Smashes Silente's face inside out (Not literally of course)*

There, now you need medical attention. Gethie do you have any medical programs?

    ReplyDelete
  51. *stumbles back and hits the ground hard*
*cries out as her arms are jarred*
    Blake!

    ReplyDelete
  52. ((Blake is no longer here, t'was a hit and run to make you see the severity of your injuries so you would seek medical help.))

    ReplyDelete
  53. ((That was rather rude.))

*mutters about Blake being a cowardly girl beater*
*gets back up and dusts off wincing at the pain in her arms*

    ReplyDelete
  54. Awesome!
Rather likes Tom Percival's work, too. :P
    *goes to watch that*

There's another new post, folks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks Elleni.
    *smiles at her*
You are okay aren't you....I didn't hurt you or anything?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'll be fine. Have a drink when I get home...possibly go to the vault instead of home...
    *shrugs*
    I've had worse.

    ReplyDelete
  57. *laughs*
Ah well, I've given lamer excuses. And plus, I deserve the bullets

    ReplyDelete
  58. Armor! Armor! Going cheap!! Get your genuine medieval armor here! And after three purchases you will receive a free limited edition lifesized replica of Lord Vile's Armor!!!

    Terms and conditions apply

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well I'm sure I did. Technically i deserve a lot more that what I'm given. I think of it as a way to repent. Well I don't but some people might..

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sure i can. I'm fine!
    *makes a wide arm gesture*
    *winces*

    ReplyDelete
  61. Fine, Elleni, I'll cut you a deal.

Buy three and I'll get you the real thing.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Silente, you gonna take me up on it?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hey!
    *flails*
Put me down! Think logically here taking a vampire to a mortal hospital is a bad idea on more levels than one! There loads of blood they're, someone's gonna figure out I'm not human, someone's gonna call the police about a shooting! This is a bad idea!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Elleni, I just hit Lord V. Really hard and hope he dies laughing at my meager attempt

    ReplyDelete
  65. No thanks Viv, I don't like heavy armor. Swords, blades, knives, whatever I'll buy you out but armor I don't really use..

    ReplyDelete
  66. *is getting more panicked*
    Sorcerers don't like vampires!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ok, maybe it wasn't the best plan...

    ReplyDelete
  68. Nope, I have a theory...a weakness that can be exploited.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Depends at which point you were referring to. I attacked the girl...well a dark side of me...but yeah. The Geth interrupted and started burning me a bit. Then Onwa took over when you came.

    ReplyDelete
  70. *looks down at her burnt chest*
    *laughs*
Oh look. I wasn't just shot.
    *laughs again*

    ReplyDelete
  71. *can't stop laughing*
*for some reason she's finding it hilarious*

    ReplyDelete
  72. *gasp, splutter*
*crawls in with two broken legs, a fractured skull, black eyes and missing three fingers+various cuts*

    My...theory...didn't...work
    Lord...Vile...isn't...ticklish

    *collapses and loses consciousness*.

    ReplyDelete
  73. *coughs and focuses*
    That was....the twisted me...
You have to remember my brain was frozen at the age of 12. It's a bit...unreliable. You know what twelve years olds are like. Now imagine that with 101 years of nothing but emotional and physical pain.

    ReplyDelete
  74. *begins losing blood more rapidly*

    ReplyDelete
  75. Viv!
    *runs over to him*
*rips the hem of her shirt and starts bandaging up the worst cuts*
    Okay he needs a hospital!
    *picks him up*
    Wheres the nearest one Elleni?

    ReplyDelete
  76. *runs after them*
*slightly pale because of the blood*

    ReplyDelete
  77. *feels the pain and really wishes he hadn't*

    ReplyDelete
  78. Wait a vamp afraid of blood?

    ReplyDelete
  79. *pulls a short time tranq dart from her pocket*
*fires it as Viv to keep him out*

    ReplyDelete
  80. Not afraid of the blood. Afraid of losing control because that's a lot of blood and i'm weak from earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Actually a bit of offence might be good for me

    ReplyDelete
  82. *waves the nurses away from her*
    Help him! I'm fine!

    ReplyDelete
  83. *completely ignores the nurses*
*gestures to the other people in the waiting room*
They're more hurt that me. Help them

    ReplyDelete
  84. *Head Nurse turn around*
HN- we can't tell what caused his injuries but you look like you've been shot!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm fine! Believe me, I'm fine. Help him. Focus on him.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Surgeon: do you know if this man has any medical issues?

    ReplyDelete
  87. *grits her teeth as pain shoots through her from the push*
Fine. But this is just a waste of resources and time.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Surgeon: I guess it doesn't matter too much if he has a slight allergy to latex gloves...considering the extent of his injuries

    ReplyDelete
  89. Surgeon: but could you please explain why he is melting though the bed?

    ReplyDelete
  90. *glares at the nurse*
Listen, seriously listen, I'm fine. These injuries are going to be gone in the morning anyway! Or at least they can be. If I let them. Wasting valuable resources on me is idiotic.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Nurse: Doctor! Get back in here! He just flatlined!!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Nurse: his heart stopped!! We need something powerful to restart it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. *looks at the nurse*
Did i say that? Oh. I meant gone in the morning after a lot of weeks?
    *hears the shouting*
    I've got to go!
*jumps up and runs slightly faster than a human pace to where Viv is*
    What's happening?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Nurse: His heart stopped, when we trued the defibrillator he melted the bed and the doctor is having a panic attack.

    ReplyDelete
  95. *slowly heart starts beating again*

    ReplyDelete
  96. *stares*
    Can you fix it?!
*mind cogs whiring and COMPLETLY ignoring the nurse*

    ReplyDelete
  97. Nurse: Blood! We need more blood!! He's lost too much already. Fair amount of help we're doing him if we start his heart but don't give it anything to pump!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. *hisses and cries out at her arm*
*plasters a kind smile onto her face imagining killing the nurse*
My friend is dieing m'am. I'd rather stay by his side.

    ReplyDelete
  99. *laughs*
I wont die. It's just some lumps of metal in my arms...and legs. And a little crispy skin on my chest. I'm fiiiiiiine.

    ReplyDelete
  100. You could get ran over. Slip on a bar of soap. Catch a deadly disease. After all you work in a building choc a block with diseases and infections. Your in lots of danger!

    ReplyDelete
  101. I am?
    *looks at her arm*
Oh so it would appear I am.
    *nods*

    ReplyDelete
  102. *hisses*
    Stop touching my bloomin arm!
*yanks it back and hisses again at the sharp movement*
    Get me four bandages.

    ReplyDelete
  103. *wraps them hastily around her arms and legs*
    There. Better?
*hopes they'll soak up and possibly stop most of the blood*

    ReplyDelete
  104. *looks at the time*
I should go. Don't let Viv die.
*leaves ripping the bandages off as soon as she's out of the hospital and uses a portal to get home to her vault*
    *locks herself in her cage*

Gtg now. See y'all real soon.

    ReplyDelete
  105. *gasps and sits up in bed*

    ReplyDelete
  106. Aw, thanks Elleni!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Thanks soooo much for telling about the new post

*grumbles about being on the old one ALL DAY*

    ReplyDelete
  108. *also steps out of the cupboard, his eyes still completely black* I wouldn't call us friends. *smirks slightly*

    ReplyDelete
  109. (here)

*frowns at trip and Alastair, the darkness coiling round her in irritation*

    ReplyDelete
  110. *his eyes slowly fade back to a dark brown* I'm here mainly out of boredom. The two of you seem at least mildly interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  111. *decides she can't be bother being in this stupid air bubble anymore*
*taps a sigil on the back of the neck, reducing the density of the air around her so its no longer capable of holding her*
*lands easily and turns the sigil off*

    ReplyDelete
  112. *makes a conscious effort not to roll his eyes* Yes, vampire, I'm very interested to know how this happened.

*blinks at Zanida* How did you make your way here?

    ReplyDelete
  113. *smiles at El*
    That'd be telling.
    *looks at Alastair*
You're a big boy. I'm sure you can work it out yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  114. (who's read TDOTL?? I just read 26 and )

    ReplyDelete
  115. (soz bout how long I took to reply BTW. My internet is objecting to me being up so early.)

    ReplyDelete
  116. *experimentally attempts to enter the vampire's mind, looking through her memories*

    ReplyDelete
  117. *frowns when a headache forms above her brow*
    Out. Now.

    ReplyDelete
  118. (hey, i'm not saying anything. just where i've read to.)

    ReplyDelete
  119. *his smirk broadens, and he presses deeper into her memories, looking for what happened to her*

    ReplyDelete
  120. OUT NOW!
*the darkness coils tightly around her like a wound spring or a waiting snake*

    ReplyDelete
  121. *ignores the pain*
*starts bombarding Alastair with other memories, none that involve her secrets, more along the lines of what happened when she was sold as an item in her earlier years*

    ReplyDelete
  122. *the smirk spreads into a grin, as he only searches more forcefully*

    ReplyDelete
  123. *can rather easily sort through those, and knows well the difference between things she wants him to see and things he's looking for*

    ReplyDelete
  124. *winces*
GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HEAD!
*throws more and more memories at him*
    *torture sessions*
    *being on the run*
    *pain pain pain*
*each family member that was killed in front of her*
*every sordid detail of the night she was changed*

    ReplyDelete
  125. Zanida: Help, her? Why would you help her by sorting through her mind?

    ReplyDelete
  126. fwibrekajlwdfnq3aweilgydhbq3ewaiugfjkd

    ReplyDelete
  127. (Sorry... Class... It sucks!)

*She poked him in the chest, hiding her grin*

What are you laughing about, Mister? Are you being mean? You better not be...

    ReplyDelete
  128. Are you sure about that...? Then why did you laugh, you evil tall thing...?

    ReplyDelete
  129. can't, in school, will type in the spoiler zone.

    ReplyDelete
  130. *goes through them all, adoring her pain* *starts to laugh as she keeps going, feeding off of her desperate attempts to keep him back, and continues to look*

    ReplyDelete
  131. *still looking through the vampire's mind, grinning* Yes, Elleni?

    ReplyDelete
  132. I know you are… Why did I say it otherwise…?

    ReplyDelete
  133. I love you, Rose.

Zanida: Alastair, what are you doing to her though?

    ReplyDelete
  134. *She grinned*

Me too. I love me too. I’m awesome that way.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I'm only looking through her mind. *smirks* She doesn't like it, do you, vampire?

  136. Putting her through pain is only an added benefit. And, believe me, I haven't done anything yet.

You don't know me as you should, Elleni- I've never properly introduced myself to you. I am not kind, or just, except when it benefits me. Humans are, by nature, selfish creatures, and sadistic. Of course, most of us suppress those parts of ourselves that wouldn't please others. I don't.

  137. Rose....*laughs*

Zanida: I want to know, what you are really doing?

  138. My golly gosh. Someone is in an awfully happy mood today. Did Thor die?

    ReplyDelete
  139. No, he is alive.

Zanida: You like to...do things we wouldn't. You let your darker side break through, yes?

  140. That was a joke, Loki. You know, something to make you laugh again… Because you have a nice laugh.

  141. There are no sides- I'm just openly selfish. I might be pleasant when it suits me, but I don't bind myself to other people's standards.

  142. ((Arnold hasn't commented in a bit...))

  143. Zanida: I don't see how you mean that you don't have sides.

*laughs* I do not understand what I ought to do...

  145. I'm not split into halves of a person. I don't like to myself or pretend to be anyone I'm not. I am simply what I am. Simply because I may be cruel in one situation and compassionate in another does not mean I exist in pieces. It means I, as a single being, am capable of feeling a variety of different emotions, and I've accepted them all as part of myself. You speak of sides because you'd like to believe the instincts you have that you don't like are separate from you.

  147. How about a kiss?

*She looped her arms around the back of his neck and grinned*

Kiss me. That is what you should do.

  148. -I observe Alastair and Loki, breathing deeply-

(If you guys happen to be in another dimension/timeline, ignore what I just said)

  149. *She saw Caelan and pulled away*

    Actually, love, hold that thought.

*She ran over to him, supporting his weight easily on her shoulders*

    Hey, you alright...?
