As for cartoons - I completely agree. Tom and Jerry is violent. On things like Scooby Doo, people are kidnapped etc. (maybe even killed) in every single episode. And it's always dealt with by some very funny people - it isn't shown in a serious way at all, when it should be.
Hm. I'm not 100% sure. Quite a few different things - mostly about how violent video games are not as influential on children as cartoons and fairytales in terms of violent behaviour.
@Dragona: *nods* Agreed. Parenting occasionally leaves something to be desired. :P
And, yes. Some violent video games are, you know, kind of . . . yeah. But that goes for everything. You have books which basically mean nothing and music that means nothing. Of course there are video games with nothing much to them.
And - *nods strongly with the last paragraph* I've said before that I don't listen to violent music for the violence and I don't read violent books for the violence and I don't watch violent TV for the violence. There's plenty of video games that are BRILLIANT but also happen to be violent. And, even if you are against the violence, the brilliant counteracts that and even if you do lose something from the violence, then you still gain more than you lose. And that's even IF you do lose something.
Sometimes people ask me what kind of books I like, and I say it doesn't matter what genre it is, so long as it's a good book. Same with video games, I guess. (But not really the same with music, although it's similar. I could go into analysis here, but you know - *reigns self in*)
@Silente: Yeah, but the thing is, the death is seen as a good thing. It says that killing people makes everything okay and we all live happily ever after. Like no. Killing people is NEVER okay. It doesn't matter who they are or what they've done. *against the death penalty, here :P*
I don't like some types of music - not because it's bad music, just because it's not my type of music.
Same with books - I don't like a few books, mostly not because they're badly written, but because they're not my type of books.
BUT I agree with the video games thing. I mean, I'll give any video game a try as long as it has substance. I was never a Sci-Fi or Fantasy fan - I was always playing action or racing games. Then I started playing Mass Effect and Skyrim and yeah, I like them - but I'd never buy a game which had no substance to it. I like games with their own world with their own characters with their own motives and beliefs and actions and thoughts and reactions and just everything that makes a person a person, instead of just a group of mindless soldiers.
I'm against the death penalty. Not only because it makes the people who carry out the executions no better than the murderers and psychopaths - also because it's too slow. Violent criminals should suffer for what they've done, and getting killed is far too quick. It doesn't let them realise what they've done wrong. Also that innocent people can be killed if they're found wrongly guilty.
I think that sometimes killing is necessary - I'm a strong believer in the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. If you'd save, dunno, 1000 lives by killing one person - I'd do it. I know I wouldn't have the right to do it, and I know what I'd do would be wrong. But that's one of the moments where there is no right decision, and it's about choosing the lesser of two evils.
@Dragona: You see, I have this objective everyone-is-awesome-in-a-way view, and I am just totally pro-forgiveness. :P I have yet to discover someone who is as readily to forgive as I am, which kind of implies that the rest of the world is correct and I am just wrong, but nevertheless, I stick to my morals. I don't believe in revenge, at all, nope. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Revenge just adds more pain to a situation with more than enough pain in it.
Anyway, this ties in nicely to my next reply - @Silente: But there are no bad guys. That's the pointtttt. Everyone is a good guy in some ways and everyone is a bad guy in some ways. You know how Alastair says we're all evil inside? We are, but we're all GOOD inside too. Even him. And - I did try to write a story like that, but I got far too attached to Hunter and I don't even believe he does bad things, really, now. :P Okay, he will kill people just because it's quicker that doing it the long way, but . . . You know, bad guys can always justify to themselves what they've done. In their minds, it makes sense. That's probably why, you know - I know Hunter so well that everything he does makes sense to me now, because I understand it. And - yeah.
I have a friend who is apparently a sadist. I discovered this when I was discussing how well her and Alastair would get on, and then she asked me what a sadist was and I said and she realised that she was one, and then she just had this moment of revelation, and all these things in her life suddenly made sense and all these moments and memories jumped out at her with new meaning. That's what revelations are like. One of the most awesome people I know, someone I will come here and rant about because she's so perfect, someone who I admire and respect and get along really well with and am just in total awe of, she thinks she's a sadist, and I can totally see her reasoning and admit that she's probably correct in thinking that. This was very shocking to me, but I also feel rather happy at being proven right. Horrible people ARE awesome. I knew it. :)
(Yes, I've said most of that sadist stuff before, but I had to go over it again, sorry. :P)
Star, I think that some people are born evil. Some people just want to cause death and destruction. Although I agree, they COULD have things good about them - I'd weigh the good against the bad. I'd say horrible people CAN be awesome, but AREN'T awesome as a whole.
There are no bad guys. I like it. Its true. They just seem bad to you cause you see things differently. Like Darquess and Valkyrie. They see things differently. Valkyrie thinks of Darquess as evil and horrible. She hates her. Where as to Darquess she's just having fun and learning about what she can do after being trapped in Valkyries head for so long.
Also - @Dragona: I know what you mean about the just not liking things even when they're good thing. :P But you can't like everything that's good in the world. And Fabi had a profile picture that said "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." And I believe that is true.
And - *nods* I do agree with you, mostly, Dragona . . . that's Hunter's view, too. It's like abortion. Abortion is never okay, because you know, it's murder. However, sometimes not allowing people to abort is not okay, either, and although abortion is not okay, it's more okay than not aborting. Whatever you do, it won't be okay, so you just have to try and do the best thing. And sometimes the death penalty is like that.
But, you know - I don't really believe in assisted suicide, because I believe there is ALWAYS a chance things can get better, people can find a cure, etc. However, in a zombie apocalypse, I would, if I could (I doubt my survival abilities :P), kill zombies, and if my friends turned into zombies, I would kill them (in theory). And my friend asked why, because surely there was a chance they could get better and didn't it contradict with my views on assisted suicide, but in a zombie apocalypse, it's about survival. It's you or them, and you know that you will live if you're not killed. You don't have a guarantee they will live if they're not killed, so your life is worth more than theirs, and you have to kill zombies or you'll die. So I believe in killing people when it's the best option for the world, but it's never okay even when it's more okay than the other option, you know? And in today's society, we have secure prisons and stuff. We can afford keep people alive, even if it is more expensive and more bother. So I think we should.
*nods at Dragona* Everyone has potential to be equally awesome, but some people don't fulfil their potential as much as others . . . And I don't believe that anyone is born evil. I don't. What is "evil", anyway?
Okay, so I read this in a book this morning (the characters have just found a pile of dead bodies) - "He avoided looking at the gruesome sight before them. "Who could have done . . ." He could not force the words out. Brom bowed his head. "Those who love the pain and suffering of others. They wear many faces and go by many disguises, but there is only one name for them - evil." And I was just laughing, because "those who enjoy the pain and suffering of others" is the definition of sadists, and I'm planning to show my friend who's decided she's a sadist it on Monday. XD But the thing is - they're not purely evil. It was Urgals who killed those people, and the characters think Urgals are evil, but later on, when they get to know them, they realise they're not - they're just people, albeit people with a warlike nature. And they have positives and negatives just like people. And I don't believe in evil. I don't believe anyone is evil. That paragraph I just quoted - when I think about it, that hurts. That's my friend you're talking about there. She's not evil. Fuck off. . . .
My friend B has guns and knives in her room and all. XD Although that apparently isn't for the zombie apocalypse, that's for when he brother comes pointing a machine gun at her head. :P
I think that giving people the chance to have an abortion is always right. Like, say someone was raped. If you were in a country which didn't allow abortion you'd have to keep that baby. If getting pregnant was a mistake, that too would be fine for an abortion. Also if the parents were unable to deal with it or they'd end up growing up in a family with no love.
I agree with you about the assisted suicide, but I also think that it's necessary if it's to reduce suffering.
If there was a zombie apocalypse, I'd kill zombies. Yes, there's a chance that they COULD be cured - but it's kill or be killed. The zombie will not be a person anymore. So that'd be fine. Which would agree with my view on a child, which is like a child isn't a child until it's heart starts beating - before that it's just a bundle of cells with the potential to be (but it's not guaranteed) life. So at that point I wouldn't class it as human, which means that I'd think abortion at that stage would be right. Which agrees with my view on killing zombies which aren't like alive, really.
I've made my own plan for zombies. Well actually it's more of a single plan but with every eventuality planned out for every different type of zombie I could think of. So I know what I'll do, I'll know how to do it, and I'll know what to do next. It's a very efficient system.
@Silente: Because she does. XD Her brother has a license, too, so it's allowed . . . Her and her brother are just violent people, I guess. XD (She's not making it up, I'm pretty sure. C backs up her story, and D has told us in a freaked-out manner about walking to the square with B and her brother and B's brother holding a lighter to B's hair. XD)
I guess if you have a brother who has violent weapons, you get some of your own. XD
@Dragona: The Inheritance Cycle is rather ace, in ways. :) I mean, the beginning of the first book is rather boring, but it gets better, and there's some things I really like about that book series.
It's a rather detailed plan. But the basic idea is: Go to a supermarket, steal a supermarket wagon. Fill it full of food. Go to a military base (like RAF Fylingdales), steal some armoured vehicles and some guns (which I'm SURE they'll have, somewhere), rescue any survivors and make a convoy. Then drive to a coast, steal a boat, load all the food and people and weapons into the boat and sit there in the sea and wait it out.
Our plan (from my point of view): Get family to friend S' house. Don't forget to bring the swords, hockey stick, knifes and other dangerous object. As well as my backpack and the pets. (Cuz I ain't leaving them) Drive one of S' motor bikes to friends B's house with family. Survive there (with a little help from stolen goods especially bottled water) when we have enough people go to the school. Rid the school of zombies and keep living there. DONT MAKE NOISE OR KILL ZOMBIES IF POSSIBLE. Wait for the issue to get fixed. Live happy lives.
My brother and I say that the zombie apocalypse could only last a week, max, before all the zombies died again. I cant remember the reasoning, bit it made sense.
It depends what caused the apocolypse. My super smart friend B said it would be most likely spread through the water supply. He also said they wouldn't be real zombies so much as people who have a virus that basically destroys the top part of the brain ability to work. Follow his reasoning they would struggle to run or walk and talk. (I just nodded and agreed) follow his method the. It'd last as long as the water was polluted for.
Wattpad is an app that you use to write fan-fiction, or a little short story. My sister is using it, and she loves one direction, so she made a fan-fiction story, and called it 'Kidnaped to College', and she has got over 110 reads In about a month, but I don NOT know how she did it, as the chapters, if they were put into book form, would only be about 1-1.5 pages long, she has made it so every sentence is a paragraph, the gramma is crap, and it makes NO sense at all.

I didn't tell people I got the limp from dodgeball, though, I told them I got it wrestling crocodiles.

The Maze Runner is a trilogy written by American author James Dashner. It follows the story of Thomas, who wakes up in a elevator with absolutely no memory whatsoever apart from his name. The elevator rises into the Glade, a grassy area surrounded by a enormous Maze. Inside the glad, a group of 60 or so teenage boys make their living. At night the wall to the Maze closes, and it you are caught out in the Maze at night, you will never return.

All the old 'fairy tales' end in death. Three little pigs. Red riding hood. James and the giant peach. The wizard of oz.

I'm trying to think of more and I can't. This is really annoying.
(Okay, in violent video games and other media, it promotes killing.
But then again, you could say Slipknot promotes rape.)

@Silente: More . . . ?

Some times its not fast. Sometimes they wait years on death row, knowing they could die any day..
Silente, I think that's a little cruel and the other points counter it.
Oh it is cruel. I hat the death penalty. It just makes murder legal. And that's wrong. No one should have the right to take another's life.

Is it strange that me and my friends have a vague plan of what to do in case of a zombie apocolypse?
No. I have a plan.
They wear many faces and go by many disguises, but there is only one name for them - evil."

SKULLOCK IS Z THING PEOPLE. JAZ IS WRITE A SKULLOCK STORY.
sorry 'bout that. Had to "let it go"

There is no one here.
I could do anything I wanted.
I could sing, or recite a poem, or do a tap dance, or tell bad jokes, or juggle flaming chain saws, and no one would know.

*waves farewell sadly*
I understand. I shall stay here an have an existential crisis into the aether.

I wonder what my taken name should be.
*sits on a park bench and thinks about it*
Perhaps Rosalind.
Or Lucy.
Or Claudette.
Or Clara.
Clara.
*watches the world fly by*
I like Clara. It's a far prettier name than Annika.
Perhaps I shall be Clara.
Hello...?
I am here, Snow.
Hi. I'm trying to think of some good pranks fkr Tuesday.... I never get anything good done, so this year I wanna go big.
*quietly hums*
I have never been an artful prankster, nor yet an artful anything.
I suggest finding a picture of the victim in question, copying it two-hundred times, and papering their bedroom/office/office/cubicle/car/or what have you, with aforementioned pictures.
Oh my ghosh! It's amazing Derek! I can't wait till the rest of your books are out so I can read them. And I'm writing a book too!!!!!
Hmmmmmm.... I have 2 pranks in mind, and I think I can pull them off... but I'd love to pull a prank on my grade coordinator
Wbd, msd
Well, if you are searching for expert advice on pranking, I'm afraid you are out of luck in consulting me.
Annika, those are all lovely names. And hi there, Snow!
Msd, sorry.
Thank you, Emerald.
How about speaking Pig Latin for the whole day, getting a few/many other friends to, then quietly laugh at them when they look confused?
*sighs*
I am feeling both melancholy, and peckish. I should, perhaps, depart.
Perhaps.
I'm not sure, though.
Hi, Annika! I'm Emerald Phoenix (possibly the stupidest name ever, now that I look back) but I go by Fay most if the time.
I can understand why you may feel peckish, but why melancholy?
Sorry, I'll be back in about half an hour. :(
THE STUPID INTERNET WON"T LET ME WATCH THE MAZE RUNNER TRAILER!!!!!!
GAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
I sympathize with your plight, my good friend Duck.
*grumbles and goes to sulk in a corner somewhere*
Now now, sulking does not befit a sporty waterfowl such as yourself.

Awwww, yisssssssssss..........
Duck, you seem very happy that you saw the trailer for Maze Runner. What is it, may I ask?
Hullo, Trip. How are you?
Herrow Annika. Aside from the growing pain in my right arm I'm the jolliest I've been in days.
Ah. I see.
*nods understandingly*
Last week I was bed-ridden with a twisted ankle.
Youch. How did you manage that?
I am well-known amongst friends and enemies alike as being a ferocious and merciless dodgeball player. However, due to a miscalculation of gracefulness, I twisted my ankle. The result was a week-long limp.
I didn't tell people I got the limp from dodgeball, though, I told them I got it wrestling crocodiles.
*unrolls scroll*
*coughs*
*looks up to make sure everyone is listening*
*Begins*
The Maze Runner is a trilogy written by American author James Dashner. It follows the story of Thomas, who wakes up in a elevator with absolutely no memory whatsoever apart from his name. The elevator rises into the Glade, a grassy area surrounded by a enormous Maze. Inside the glad, a group of 60 or so teenage boys make their living. At night the wall to the Maze closes, and it you are caught out in the Maze at night, you will never return.
And my rowing pain is because I am a werewolf and am very slowly undergoing the change. *nods*
*unrolls scroll*
*coughs*
*adjusts glasses*
*squints at scroll*
I see.
*rolls up scroll*
*bows*
I must say, I've always been fond of werewolves. My first crush was a werewolf, in fact. Of course, he was also fictional, but all couples have obstacles.
*laughs*
Intriguing. I'll add it to my list.

Ellie: Next time, my word should be enough for you.
Drew: I feel like I've been thrown into something that I didn't even know has been playing out...
Crimson: You were prepared to go to Paris, how about Blogland?
...Hello?
I am tired.
*lies down on park bench*
*stares at the stars*
I may just lie here a while,
and let you continue.
Drew: Wait, hold on, what about the kids? Why are you here?
Ellie: Long story sweetheart and the kids are okay.
Why do you need me to go to Blogland?
Crimson: So I can prove that he's some form of shadow double aand I'm not lying to you.
Hello Missy! I haven't read you in yonks!
*quietly snoozes*
*not caring that it's a park bench*
*ergo I look a bit homeless*
Hey Trip!!!
*tacklehugs*
Well, I haven't been on in ages because of school etc.
How are you??
Drew: Do you need me to come with you?
Ellie: No honey, you're working at the moment. I will call you when I get home.
Fine. Let's go.
Tired, mainly. You?
Crimson: Mr Fake O'connor, where is the nearest entrance to blogland around here?
Distant...
Re-watching trailer....
Also tired, yeah.
But I have to get up soon because I have Oz Comic Con today :3
*Drew frowns as he looks at Ellie*
Drew: Did she just call me fake?
Ellie: As I said, long story dear. Entrance??
Drew: The shop across the way. The last changing room, just tap the mirror 3 times.
*I am dreaming of men in lab coats, coming to take me away*
*and kittens*
*I also dream of kittens*
Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah!!!!
OZ COMIC CON!?!?!?!?!?!
WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS!?!?!?!!?
*Mmmmmm, delicious kittens....*
Crimson: Good, this way Ellie. *leads her outside the hotel*
*the kittens suddenly flee, as if spooked*
*and I watch them, confused*
*I shift slightly, in my sleep*
Hey Duck!
Yeah, Oz Comic Con ((for Perth)) is on this weekend :3
I know Adelaide is next weekend or something, but I don't remember when the others are...
aND I'M REALLY UPSET BECAUSE BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS GOING TO ADELAIDE AND SYDNEY (or Melbourne can't remember which one) AND NOT TO PERTH :(
*Drew frowns again as he watches his wife leave the hotel and crosses the road*
Drew: What the hell happened there...
*He shakes his head as he goes back upstairs to his room*
*Ellie follows Crimson out of the hotel and into the shop*
I find it hard to believe that this information has been disclosed from me....
Sadly, I live nowhere near any capital cities... so that sucks...
*wakes up with a gasp*
Not the Canadians!
