Short Story Collection

Ah, Saturday night... what would you be without a title announcement?

I should have announced this yesterday, to be honest, but I was in Swindon, in England, doing writerly things like chatting to 600 people, signing all their books, and then travelling on to the WH Smith head office and signing 500 copies of LSODM, so you'll forgive me if I was a tad... distracted.

But, without further ado, to those who have not yet heard, the title of the short story collection out next summer is...

Armageddon-Outta-Here.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

I swear to god, I never thought Harper Collins would agree to this. My first instinct was to call it Tales of the Dead Men, but that wouldn't have been accurate because there'd probably only be one or two stories featuring the Dead Men — not enough to warrant a title.

Harper came back with The World of Skulduggery Pleasant, which is, let's face it, a title far too boring to exist.

I  suggested Armageddon-Outta-Here as a joke, expecting everyone to dismiss it. But the more I thought about it, the more I said it in my head, the more I loved it. And suddenly I became determined to be the writer who has a book with THAT title.

Amusingly, Harper Collins agreed. And I couldn't be happier.

And if that wasn't awesome enough, we should actually have a cover reveal early next month for you to gawp at. Could I BE any nicer to you?

No. The answer is no.

Sorry if I'm distant; I'm writing for NaNo.

  12. I try to make my chapter titles amusing as much as I can . . . I think they're all more Hunter-like jokes, though, which is fine as the story's about him. :)

I just use Hunter as an outlet to tell my worst jokes ever. XD

ALL MY SCHOOL FRIENDS WILL BE HEARING ABOUT THIS TITLE ALL MONDAY, DEREK. :)

AND I HAVE TO TELL MY MUM. *nods*

Proof-reading is really hard when you're struggling to keep your eyes open and you have a cold...

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's a form of Yorkshire slang, apparently. But has slowly become more accepted in conversation, making it a colloquial expression, just like mardy, which was made famous by a song.

    Linguistics truly are incredible... :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. yeah, should you be up this early, Sparky? :/
*gives her tea and a heater*

    ReplyDelete
  34. *rubs eyes and takes the tea*

It's 8:30 in the morning, I've already been awake for two hours.

And I really need to get this done, I wrote like 4,100 words yesterday but I didn't proof any of them.

  37. Hi Lantern! :)

. . . Even though I think you said hi.

THERE IS NO LAW AGAINST SAYING HI TO YOU AS MANY TIMES AS I WANT. :)

Haha, I imagined this the other . . . week:

Hunter: Hello, Fabi. We haven't met, have we? Nice to meet you. :)

Fabi: Nice to meet you too. :-)

Ez: *frowns* Yes, you have met.

    Hunter: *frowns* No, we haven't.

Ez: . . . Uh, yeah you have.

Fabi: I'm pretty sure we haven't.

    Hunter: . . . Uh, no we haven't.

Ez: Come on. You see Fabi all the time. /I/ see Fabi all the time, and you're here more than me.

    Hunter: *frowns* Who's Fabi?

    Ez: FABI. *points to Fabi*

    Fabi: *waves*

Hunter: Oh, there's a Fabi! :) Nice to meet you, Fabi!

Fabi: Nice to meet you too. :-)

Ez: You just MET the Fabi.

    Hunter: . . . No, I didn't.

Ez: *gives odd look* Do you have short-term memory loss or something? I mean, if both of you suddenly developed it that'd be a little odd, but . . .

Someone, or possibly Star: Stranger things have happened, and continue to do so with alarming regularity.

Hunter: *frowns* Both of us? Who's us?

    Ez: You and Fabi.

    Hunter: Fabi? Who's Fabi?

    Ez: *facepalms* *gives up*

  50. I'm writing for NaNo. I've got another 800 words to write to stop myself from falling behind.

    I've been really busy lately...

And a scene between Lynxia and Xavier almost turned to smut earlier... That could have been awkward. Instead, it's very suggestive. Why do my friends convince me to do stupid things like this?!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't have time for NaNo...

Instead, I've taken it upon myself to write that Tadra date that I was supposed to do a while back...

It's no novel, but it makes me happy :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I entered NaNo but dropped it so quickly it's not even funny.

But I have been writing a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hmm. Well, I'm not doing NaNoWriMo (of course that's a word spellcheck fuck you), but I've written asomething approaching 30,000 words this month so far, so I don't think I would have done too badly . . . :P

I think I wouldn't write as well if I was forced to, though.

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  54. NaNo is stressing me the hell out.

But the moment I get to fifty thousand, I will bloody sCREAM. Like full on scream at someone. I'd run to Tom's house and scream at him until I go blue in the face, purely because it'd be one of the biggest achievements ever, for me. I need to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I miss writing...

When I write stuff, it's really deep, usually.

But I have loads of ideas all the time. I just wish I had time outside of school and school work to do...

    Well, anything, actually

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Mushroom: :) *hugs*

You'll do it. :) I believe in you. You'll get radioactive milkshakes.

. . . Sorry, it's something Hunter and Ez say. They say they'll invent radioactive milkshakes, but they never will, it's just a way of saying, we'll make it through, we'll be alive and have enough downtime to do ridiculous things like that, it'll all be okay, that malarkey. :)

  75. Goodbye friends who are leaving! *waves*

    ReplyDelete
  76. @Lantern: Yay! Sorting out plot! :)

(Sorry, I can only really notice on thing at a time.)

Like, when there are multiple plots at once, I only notice the other one about halfway through because without noticing it I've been just ignoring that one, and I have to go back, and then I start ignoring the other one . . .

You know when you have that video that has these people throwing a ball around and it tells you to count how many passes the white team make, and then halfway through this person in a bear costume wanders into the middle of the game and wanders out again, and at the end it says "The answer was *insert number Star's forgotten*.
But did you see the bear?"

And I NEVER fucking see the bear!

The first time I didn't, and the second time, which was years later so I'd forgotten about the first time (well, I remembered the test. I just didn't remember the bear part), I missed the bear again, and the third time, which was months later, I missed it AGAIN!
The second time, people were saying "Oh look, there's a bear", and I STILL didn't notice. :P

I have selective attention. I focus on one thing and just stop paying attention to everything else.

Like when I start thinking about something in a lesson, I stop listening.

And I can't write and talk simultaneously. :P

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  77. . . . Actually, they were saying "Oh look, there's a monkey" because they thought it was a monkey costume, but still . . . :P

  80. It's disgusting how many people are rude to the Pope over Twitter

    I mean, seriously revolting.

As far as the Catholic Church goes, what Pope Francis is doing is pretty revolutionary- how he says being gay is okay, and that being an atheist is okay, as long as you're doing good.

    Like

    Why would you attack him

Not to mention, he tries to be one with the people, by going out, making contact with them- not using the Popemobile, as John Paul II did.

Pope Francis is trying to bring people together

DON'T HURT HIM I KINDA THINK HE'S ADORABLE

    ReplyDelete
  81. *hugs Adra* That's awesome. :)

People will be attacked, if they're famous. *shrugs* Like, 1D have so many fans, and they have so many people who hate them.

  115. Hiiiiii!

    I like paint. :D

Having messy fingers is good for improving my general mood. Baking, too, only instead of paint, chocolate!

    I haven't baked anything in agesssss! D:

  118. I'm basically doing reverse silhouettes, with white on black, for the four dancers and the bench, and then I'm going to fill in the color later. Most of my colored paints are semitransparent, and can't go on the black layer directly.

And then I'm gonna use the glossy stuff for the stage floor and the reflections.

    :D

Um, sorry if my babbling annoys you. I'm just in a cheery mood for the first time in a while, so...

  127. I mean...

I'm kinda bad at drawing. Good at designs, not so much drawings.
