    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    IT'S AMAZING. :)

DAMN IT, DEREK, NOW I WANT THE BOOK! WHY DO I NEED TO BOOK? I ALREADY HAVE THE BOOK!

I generally like the paperbacks better than the hardbacks, cover-wise. :( Which sucks because the paperbacks are more destructible. Not like me. You will be shown . . . how I've become . . . INDESTRUCTIBLE! <3
    . . . Anyway . . .
The paperbacks are amazing. This paperback is amazing. It's beyond amazing. One of the best. I want it. You're evil. Yes. :)

Oh wait. You HAVE lives. That's why you're not here. Oh. :P

Yesterday, I said that my life was sad - although, it wasn't, because I didn't HAVE a life, but if I DID have a life, it would be a very sad life. It was an accurate thing to say. :)

  37. Star, I posted a picture that I found on the internet of a Mass Effect Pumpkin someone carved that I found. It's REALLY good. ^^

    ReplyDelete
  38. The RP isn't as all-absorbing as it used to be. I mean, it's still going on quite a lot, but there are usually people who are just talking most times as well... If that helps...

Well, who are they attached to? Huh? ME!

    #ChaseForBook9

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh my GOSH, that is the coolest picture EVER. I think it's my favorite of the covers thus far. Is it bad that I've always loved the paperback covers more than the hardcovers?

I don't have the money to 'update' my current Skulduggery collection right now, but if there's some sort of a badass box-set once the series is over, I am buying that thing SO fast . . .

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Ieni and Lantern: Yup. The roleplay only really happens when I'm asleep, most times . . . so it's hard for Aussies and people in my time zone to roleplay, but I don't really roleplay anyway so that's okay for me. :)

    @Ieni: :) *hugs*

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  41. And I agree, we don't do as much role-play as we used to, but I must say that when we do it, it's REALLY fun and engrossing. At least for me.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @Anni: I like the papaerback covered best too. :)

WHICH SUCKS, BECAUSE TEH PAPERBACKS ARE MORE DESTRUCTIBLE AND YOU CAN'T HOLD THEM OPEN PROPERLY WHEN YOU READ THEM FOR FEAR OF BENDNING THE SPINES!!!

I have all the books up to DB in paperback, and then in hardback from DB onwards. So I have DB twice. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Annika: I really like doing it when I do do it, it's just with school and stuff I barely have time to be here at all. :(

And I adore reading it. :) The roleplay is amazing.

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes, I have the first three in the really ugly, bland American paperback. Then I've got Dark Days and Mortal Coil in paperback, and everything after that (except that World Book Day novelette) is in hardcover. I hate the fact that they don't match, really. I love these books too much for them not to match. I'll have to update them all once the series ends.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I know! The role-play is so much fun! I mean, I've hardly got a history here as deep as the rest of you, but I already feel thoroughly engrossed and Doctor Precocious has turned into something much deeper and more interesting than I thought she would be when I first came on.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think other countries have more hard shoulder than us . . . Wiki says that in the UK "Full width hard shoulders are usually provided only on motorways", which suggests that in other countries it's provided more, and in Ireland, you seem to have ACRES of hard shoulder, according to wiki. :O
    *double-checks* Welllll . . . not THAT much.

It doesn't specify when you have them in the US, but I think you have quite a lot.

It's interesting, this, though. :) EVERYONE SHOULD WRITE STORIES. IT'S EDUCATIONAL.

HOWEVER, it doesn't tell em anything about France, when is where my story is set. *glares* Dammit.

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Saph: Who wouldn't? :)

@Anni: Oh, I like the American covers. :) Tom Percivals are better though, no offense.

And - Luciana Clover Scáth has around 70 SP books or something. O_O

And - it's okay having them not matching. :) The fact they're not a flawless collection is symbolic of the fact that although we, as people, are not flawless, we are still utterly fantastic. :)

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  48. Eh. The American covers never did anything for me.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have all the books on Kindle except End of the World (But, thanks to weird co-incidences, I have three copies of that) and I'm slowly getting them all in hardback. I just need the first one and MC.
Then maybe I'll work on getting them in paperback :P

    ReplyDelete
  50. And now . . . THE WEATHER.

The world is finally coming down
    Crashing to the ground
    All around
    Me
    Can you
    Can you hear the sound
    Of the world spinning round
And round and round and round and round
    Me
What does it mean to be alone
I was fine for a time
    Now I’m cold
    What does it mean
    To be the victim here
When every tear you didn’t cry
    Burns a hole deep inside
    It could’ve been fine
    But not this time
    It’s suicide
    It could’ve been fine
    But not this time
    One bullet takes two lives
    What can I do
    To get through
    Don’t say I haven’t tried
    What can I do
    When I expect you
    To be by my side
The world is finally coming down
    Crashing to the ground
    All around
    Me
    Can you
    Can you hear the sound
    Of the world spinning round
And round and round and round and round
    Me

  51. Star, I told you it was a great pumpkin. I want to make one! :P

I wish there were more RP's in this time. The character who I am now is somewhat effective and I'd like a chance to get to use them, but there are only a few when I'm on and they're all very confusing and I don't know what on earth to do.

    ReplyDelete
  52. *Likes the song/poem Anni posted*
Hey Dragona :) Hmm. I've wanted to do a RP for a while where we lose our magic. Want to do that?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi Saph.

Um... Approaching emotional speech. Consider yourself warned.

    Wbd/msd.

    #ChaseForBook9

    ReplyDelete
  54. Role-plays, as is life, are often confusing. Particularly in such a malevolently silly world as Skulduggery Pleasant.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh, are you going to start RPing?
Well, I wouldn't want to get in your way, so perhaps I'll go off on a solo lark.
    Or perhaps I won't.
    Perhaps I'll go home.
    Or make a home.
    Or rest.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey, Rhy!
I don't know if well start RPing. Tbh, I don't feel like it.

  60. Sapphire, I don't actually HAVE any magic. On here (as given away by my title) I'm not really from this universe. My powers are tech based, but sure it might be fun. ^^

    ReplyDelete
  61. X: *chuckles*
What a place, eh? A world built entirely on imagination. In all its history there has never been a single person who wasn't important. Who didn't have the power to crack the world in half.
*gently flicks a bit of her hair out of her peaceful face*
    I'm surprised you're still sane.

*the radio in the corner begins to crackle*
    *it's losing reception*

    ReplyDelete
  62. X: You've seen and done so much, my dear. You've rotted away, become a mere shell.
    A daft old lady.
    Heh.
You've forgotten more than anyone could hope to remember. Oh, the secrets trapped within that senile old brain of yours. All those hopes and dreams . . .
    *he is jerking*
*like a cartoon with missing frames of animation*
    *flickering*
*coming in and out of focus*
*like a television with bad reception*
    *his smirk grows wider*

    ReplyDelete
  63. X: I daresay you remember too much already. Oh dear, sweet Precocious. If you knew half of what you've forgotten . . .
    *chuckles*
You'd lose what sanity you've got left. Hang it all, you've even forgotten your true name!
*plays with a strand of her hair*
And after all the trouble I went through to tell you, too . . .

    ReplyDelete
  64. I... I think this is a story I can't post, maybe even one I can't write.

    Never mind.

    #ChaseForBook9

    ReplyDelete
  65. X: *kisses her softly on the forehead*
Let us pray that those memories never resurface. Continue, my dear, to live with the feeble delusion that your existence could still be worth something. That love is still possible. That there is something out there worth fighting for.
    *laughs softly*
    Redemption?
    Delusion. Nothing more.
    *his body begins unwinding*
*falling into ribbony strings of shadow*
The delusion of a daft old lady.

    ReplyDelete
  66. *starts reading 'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland'*

    ReplyDelete
  67. *is taking interest in Annika's roleplay, although I can't participate*

@Saph: Similarly to Dragona, my characters I generally roleplay as don't have magic, because they're from my own story universe. And I, myself, am not a character. I mean . . . I as a person am such a boring character, plus I don't like giving me another history and stuff, because then I'm not ME. It's like how I hate it in languages classes where you have to write about yourself, and I don't want to write about myself because it's private and you have to earn that information (and yet I just blather out my life to anyone who I see O_O), and I can't make it up because then it's not true.
I don't want to be judged, is all. If people judge me, I want them to judge me how I want them to judge me, with information given as and when I chose it. I also want them to judge me as myself. I don't want them to think thigns about me that aren't true, because then they have an inaccurate picture of me in their heads, and I don't want people to inaccurately picture me, because they'll think I'm a way that I'm not.
Because I analyse so much . . . I often expect to be analysed in the same way, subconsciously, I think, perhaps.

  68. The first chapter was good! Now onto the second chapter *reads*

    ReplyDelete
  69. I started a new blog, but I've only got one post on it thus far, and it's purdy boring . . .

    ReplyDelete
  70. . . . Sorry, I rambled off there. :P

    #ChaseForBookNine

    ReplyDelete
  71. And I think, for now at least, I am done my little solo RP up there. Besides, I prefer to do that sort of thing when I have a bigger audience.

I agree with what you said, Star, though not with the whole 'my role-play character is from my story universe' thing. While that's totally fine for you, and it works great for you, I don't think I would feel comfortable doing that myself. I consider my main story universe, right now, to be my Eliot Cross stories, which you don't know anything about unless you've seen my main blog. The point is, I never found writing myself in as a character in Eliot Cross to be very professional, so I just never thought much about it . . .

    ReplyDelete
  72. @Rhydian: FOURS! *waves*

@Annika: Okay. :) That makes sense.

    #ChaseForBookNine

  73. 'Sup, Dragona! I'm okay, I guess. *Points up at name* It's my last day with a computer for a very, very long time, so I'm staying on here as long as I can.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Our power just went out. Randomly... The Internet has a back-up power supply that Dad installed last night (With brilliant timing, I might add), but it'll run out in half an hour or so. If the power isn't on by then, I won't be in Blogland. Just a warning!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yes, I agree, things have been dreary . . .

    ReplyDelete
  80. I am doing well enough.
I have been doing a lot of writing recently and nearly had a panic attack at how cruel I was being to my characters, which, as any author will tell you, is a sign you're finally doing something right. So, that's sad/happy and all.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hi all. I'd write something excitingly dramatic, but I'm on my phone, so that would be really difficult.

  119. *hums softly*
I know this is like picking between your children, sort of, but what is y'all's favorite part of Skulduggery Pleasant?
    Mine is the Dead Men.
I knew the moment Ghastly and Dexter and Skulduggery were talking about their past in that gala in Gordon's mansion.
    The Dead Men.
    *puts hand over heart*
    *not her heart*
*a bloody, still beating heart on the ground*
    *which represents her feelings*
    I salute you, Dead Men.

  122. I would do a solo RP but I may have to leave at any time, so, sadly, I won't.
I will likely post my first proper superfluous adventure on Superfluous Adventures tomorrow, though.

  123. My favourite bit of SP?

    Idk...

In the first book. Where Skulduggery does the "there is no winning or losing" speech.

  124. I love NaNoWriMo- I think it gives tons of people the motivation and demanding timeline they need to actually produce a novel. Also, it isn't for kids- it's for writers. Anyone who wants to do it is welcome- there isn't a target age group. And, even if it was just for kids, it's still not mandatory by any means. You don't have to do NaNoWriMo to be considered a novelist. So if you know you have a hard schedule and you need to stay focused on school, you just don't participate. That's reflective of the judgement of the individual rather than the nature of the competition.

  136. NANOWRIMO SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING THINGS EVER. I THINK GETTING KIDS TO BE IMAGINATIVE AND WRITE IS ONE OF THE BETS IDEAS EVER, BECAUSE STORIES ARE AMAZING, AND EVERYONE NEEDS TO LOSE THEMSELVES MORE IN THEM. MY MUM SAID SHE DIDN'T THINK MY SISTER'S FRIEND COULD BE THAT GOOD AT ENGLISH (as in, not the best in the year group. Long story), BECAUSE OF THE BOOKS SHE READ. PEOPLE WHO READ ARE A LOT BETTER AT THINGS LIKE ENGLISH. I'VE LEARNT SO MUCH THROUGH READING. I'VE EXPANDED MY VOCABULARLY MASSIVELY, AND GOT SO MANY MORALS AND VIEWS FROM IT. BOOKS ARE ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER BECAUSE OF HOW WELL THEY CAN SUBMERGE YOU INTO A STORY. IN ORDER TO WRITE THEM, YOU HAVE TO SUBMERGE YOURSELF INTO A STORY. SO GETTING KIDS TO DO THAT IS FAB.
There's this boy in my year group that I really have a hard time trying not to hate (because I really try not to hate people. Because hatred is horrible. It destroys so much. But yes), and the reason why is because he's just so BLIND and he has no UNDERSTANDING. You know when people will just never get things, because they do not realise the beauty of questioning the world and getting so much more from it, the world of metaphors and analysis? Some people are just stuck in a box, and they don't even try to see out. I'm all about cutting windows in my box and admiring the view, but they don't see why you wouldn't be satisfied with blackness, a musty smell and being barely able to breathe. And sometimes, you just look at people and you just wonder how they can BE that stupid. It's something that happens a lot, at school. And this boy I have a hard time hating . . . because I shouldn't hate him because he's blind, that's just cruel . . . even though he's REALLY irritating . . . he can't read very well, when the teacher asks him to read stuff out. Why? Because he has had very little practise reading and writing. He doesn't read books. He doesn't know the wonder of looking through all the different layers of reality.
    He's just an example.
Reading is amazing. It's exploring without leaving the room. :)
And writing is the same as reading, really. They're both exploring stories in word form. :)

NaNoWriMo is encouraging kids to see the world, to embrace possibilities and become the people they have the potential to be. :)

And school? School is mostly worthless in the ways that matter. I could go on from here, but I think Ari's best at that. :) You know her rants about public schooling? About how kids are being trained not to think, and how most of what we're being taught is memorisation? "Memorisation is not science." That's what Myrnin said to Claire, and I love quoting it. My German teacher the year is rubbish, okay? For many reasons. But anyway, she had these verb conjugations up on the board, and someone put their hand up and said do we need to learn this, and the teacher said, no. She said we didn't need to understand grammar at all, and that all the verb conjugations were in the dictionaries that we could take into the exams (they were), and that it was possible to get an A* without any knowledge of grammar at all.
I was telling my parents how rubbish she was, and they completely agreed (my dad: "There's no language to which grammar is more central!"), and I said that I was just going to have to learnt German in my free time, and they reluctantly agreed with that.
But the POINT is - she said we could get an A* without understanding it.
You see, her priorities aren't straight here. I don't WANT to be taught how to get an A*. I WANT to know German. I want to go into a different country and be able to converse with people in a different language. Intelligence isn't measured in grades. Why should pointless numbers be the focus of our lives? They don't measure us. 'A*' doesn't define me, as a person.

  137. It's like va. I've said this rant before, but youth work is changing, and I won't go into it in great detail, but nowadays, you get given six months to work with someone and then it's case over. Previously, you just worked until the problem was solved.
One is getting a job done, the other is just magic. Helping others. Oh shit, I'm about to cry . . .
This young person my mum used to work with, and they're really good friends now . . . she once asked him what helped him the most, and he said it was her not giving up. And every time I think about that, I cry.
Nowadays, if people miss three appointments, you're just meant to drop it. How is that helping? How is giving up meant to solve the problem?
She said this kid she works with now (refugee kid - job change, remember?) said that he'd never told anyone this and he didn't know why he could tell her, and my dad said, because she listens.
Because my mum cares and she doesn't just want to get a job done and so get money, she wants to help. She wants to reach out.

Kids shouldn't be taught to do jobs and get rewards. They should be taught to reach out to amazing worlds.

    . . . Rant over.

Sorry. Sometimes, I start saying something, and then I connect it to something else and start ranting and get really emotional and people at school are just like, why is this a big deal? And they don't get that it's not a big deal, but the things it's associated with are.
And see, one of my character flaws is that I think I'm better than anyone else. :) Finding philosophies to tell people they're special hasn't really helped, because obviously in finding them for other people they work on me. :P It's not very good for me. I was fine already in that aspect. :/
