Reaction to the book is exactly what I'd been hoping for — shock and AWE. There have been MANY threats of violence and decapitation made against me, which I thoroughly deserve for what I've put you through.
All in all, people have been very good about not spoiling it for others, but dear god, there have been some exceptions. A few things on the Facebook page, a lot of stuff on Twitter, some stuff on Tumblr, and one of the very first Amazon reviews has a major spoiler. I don't understand the need to spoil things for others or to seek out spoilers for yourself, and I really can't understand why anyone would casually mention a plot twist without realising it could ruin things for others.
Basically, beware of the internet, Minions.
But on a lighter note, Orla came to a signing on Saturday and she gave me a photograph of the cake she'd had for her birthday.

Ugh, missing school because of sick... *makes face* Last year was awful for me. I missed, like, 36 days, and another 10 days I came in really late. I eventually adopted a 3 throw-up rule, where I wouldn't go to the nurse to leave unless I'd already thrown up 3 times. I ended up teaching myself for, like, half the year, and I handed everything in late and my pile of unfinished tests was just endless... I am never getting sick again... ((before that year, I'd never missed more than a day every year))

And this is another part of the reason Niccolo feels so guilty all the time- a few of the names he stole deserved great things, much better than what they got. His ability to turn others to stone with earth comes from a guy who spent his whole life- hundreds of years- intensely researching earth magic, working on a way to reverse its effects so he could bring people back. And then one day somebody comes and steals his name and traps him with all these sadistic monsters and uses his power to hurt people. That... You know, it's not so fun to think about.

No, it's fine. You can laugh. I'm sort of comfortable with the idea of death, myself. Not that I'd wish it upon myself, just- I understand it'll happen someday, somehow, and I really can't take any day I spend alive for granted. And I think death can be a fun thing to laugh at, at the right time. You're good. :)
My parents don't know I talk to you guys this much, so... Yeah, they know I have a group of people I write fanfic with, and that we talk sometimes, but definitely not this much.

Speaking of fanfic... You guys have literally no idea how much Nikola Tesla happens when no one is watching (just talking and thinking to each other and it's actually sort of fluffy in a dark way a lot of the time), and I just think it's so hilarious, because so many people ship it now, and they haven't even seen, like, anything. (And no, I don't mean we've been kissing each other or anything like that. I mean, did you see him last night? Yeah no. But there was so much fluff and I never write fluff and you guys just missed it all because you didn't even know it was there!!)

And then we'd all go in the pool and play volleyball (pool volleyball is so fun because everyone gets way too into it), and then we'd make s'mores over the fire pit, and then eat them in the hot tub. By the way, I'm so hosting one of the afterparties, and that's what we're going to do in it. I'll give you guys a picture of my yard and everything. :)
