Reaction to the book is exactly what I'd been hoping for — shock and AWE. There have been MANY threats of violence and decapitation made against me, which I thoroughly deserve for what I've put you through.
All in all, people have been very good about not spoiling it for others, but dear god, there have been some exceptions. A few things on the Facebook page, a lot of stuff on Twitter, some stuff on Tumblr, and one of the very first Amazon reviews has a major spoiler. I don't understand the need to spoil things for others or to seek out spoilers for yourself, and I really can't understand why anyone would casually mention a plot twist without realising it could ruin things for others.
Basically, beware of the internet, Minions.
But on a lighter note, Orla came to a signing on Saturday and she gave me a photograph of the cake she'd had for her birthday.

“I don’t understand how you even managed to use them for so long, Roxy.”
“Just don’t spend it all at once, whatever coin you don’t use I get to have.” I hand Rose a pouch of coins. “And don’t forget to get my copy of Standard Book Of Spells for seventh grade, too.”
“Meet at Florean’s in an hour, right?”
“That’s ri- Callie!” I spot my best friend through the crowds of Diagon Alley and barely spare Rose a quick ‘Seeyouinanhourbye!’ before I sprint through the mass of people, knocking over people and stands alike. I think I can hear Rose chuckling at me in the entrance to Flourish and Blotts but I chose to ignore it as I slam into Calliope, who is one of my all time favourite people in the world.

“Callie!”
“Do you think you should maybe get off of me?” Callie says. I look around and realise that, yes, I have pinned Callie to the ground in the middle of the busiest street in the wizarding world.
“I think that could be a good idea…” I stand up and hold my hand out for her, which she grabs and I pull her to her feet.
“So! What brings you here?” I ask.
“Shopping?”
“Anything in particular?”
“Caliborn ruined his robes again.” Callie sighs.
“Oh. Gross.”
“Roxy, he’s my brother.”
“He’s still gross.” I insist. Callie just smiles and laughs it off.
“Roxy?” she asks.
“Yessum?”
“Have you had firewhiskey?”
“No!” I yelp. I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn to see my other best friend. Who’s also my cousin.
“It certainly sounds like you have.” Dirk Strider turns me around and arches an eyebrow behind his sunglasses. “Maybe that’s only because I saw you drink some about twenty minutes ago.”
“Roxy!” Callie scolds.
“Dirk, why’d you ruin it! Everything was fine until you showed up!”
“Rox, you said you’d stop drinking that stuff.” he says. Of course Rose chooses this moment to wander past.
“She’s had it twice today, Dirk.” She flashed me a smirk before putting the considerably lighter pouch back into my hand.
“Is there anywhere I’d be likely to find Dave?”
“I think John dragged him to Gambol and Japes’, but they may have moved on. Good to see you, Rose.”
“You too.” And with that the little monster waltzed away, leaving me to be reprimanded.
“Rolal, you said you’d stop drinking that stuff.” Dirk starts.
“Did I? When was this, exactly?”
“The end of last term. After having a spectacular headache the morning we all packed up and left Hogwarts. You know. The morning of the school-famous hangover.”
“You realise that you set a bad example for the other students?” Callie says.
“Guys… Fine. I’ll stop. On one condition.”
“And that is?” Dirk asks. I send him a look.
“If Hussie appoints me as Head Girl. Then I’ll set a proper example for the kiddies.” I say, smiling. Dirk’s brow creases and Callie lowers her head.
“I fear for the announcements…” Dirk mutters.

*Swallows* My best friend, Lucy, has another friend she's known for years called Dakota. I've only met him over the internet, but they're really close.
This morning, he started coughing up blood.
So he went to the hospital, and they did all these tests, and they said he has lung cancer.
They have to operate, and he has a fifty-fifty chance of surviving and Lucy's freaking out and I don't know what to say because she's the kind of person who doesn't get care about too many people, but when she does she cares really fiercely.
Oh God... I just want them both to be okay.
