I thought the title of this entry was smart and funny, effectively conveying the relief at another tour being over and done with in a winning and whimsical manner. But how many of you are going to miss the John Lennon reference and just puzzle at the "Happy Christmas| part? Ah well. Too late now to go changing it.
So, another tour bites the dust. This was a fun one, lots of people turning up, lots of glares and scowls and cakes and pictures and fist-bumps and many, many moody looks into camera... All in a day's work, really. Thanks to everyone who came along — it was tiring but I had a blast.
And now I'm home, and it's time to get organised.
There's going to be some cool news coming your way over the next few weeks and months. Some of it will make you go "Cool!" and some of it will make you grin. Some of it, of course, will make you weep, as it's coming up to that time when I'll have to start plotting out Book Nine. Most of you will still be reeling from the events of LSODM, so you'll know not to trust me. For some reason, the tagline from the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is floating through my head...
"Who will survive, and what will be left of them?"
The good news is, now that the pressure of editing and touring is off, I'll be able to get back to my regular (ahem) blogging and Twitter routine, so I should be chatting to you guys a little more often than I have been. Hopefully.
The fact is, I'm going to be incredibly busy for the next year. Want a brief rundown on what I have ahead of me?
1) Plot, write and finish Book Nine by March.
2) Work on Mystery Project 2.
3) Write 10 brand new short stories for the Skulduggery Collection out next Summer.
4) Work on Mystery Project 3.
5) Devise, plan and start writing New Book Series by September 2014.
6) Work on Mystery Project 4.
All that, and blog and tweet and play with my nieces. Oh, and my nephew.
Nephew, you say? But Golden God, you don't HAVE a nephew. I do now, gentle Minion. Born this afternoon, weighing in at over 9 pounds, Baby Skulduggery is now part of my Baby Army of Terror, and he is to be feared.
(Okay fine, my sister hasn't OFFICIALLY named him Baby Skulduggery, but come on... How could she NOT?)

I think it was a pretty incredible experience, and would've been either way, I expect.
Not talking also gave me a lot of time to copy/paste phrases of interest(i.e. Near everything, really. :P), so I have 11 pages on a word document of all kinds of words from them. And I think the songs and stuff all remain on the page, so I can come back to the ones that didn't come around or whatnot.
It was a like a huge, live, informal, 2-way unstructured interview in text-format, with extras. (And adverts, but still. :P) And I like interview-type-things, very much. SO yeah. Very glad I caught it. :)

Actually, I'm working in Compatibility Mode, because I started writing this on the 2003 Word and it puts documents created with older versions of Word in Compatibility Mode, as some new features may not work with them. It's too prevent damage. :)

@Rhydian: English is hard. You have to think so much. And last year, I hated writing PEE paragraphs because it required actual BRAINPOWER, and I hated how I had to link and use multiple quotations and all that.
This year, we have a new teacher, and he's making us do it in table. We write the point in one column, pop the evidence in another column and explain in the third. And I HATE it. I hate being confined to it. I want to link to this and point out how this also means this and supports this, and I want to use more evidence to back up this, and I can't bear not being able to sort of loop round and tie it all up in various places.
Sometimes, things are hard, and you hate them. But when they've been taken away from you, you realise how much you loved them.

Rhydian: I struggle to both breathe, and to talk. Additionally, struggles in breathing makes the talking more difficult, and vice versa. But there's so much in the world that can make those struggles worthwhile, and often its because those struggles are present.
Like, I was saying before that the people of Dereksville, Blogland, are the only people I ever really know how I can talk to, and how beautiful and incredible that seemed, when I thought of it. If I was always talking, fine, to everybody, that fact wouldn't exist. It's a drawback in some cases, but it brings a huge highlight, and I can hold onto that light. The greatest light is the greatest shade.
I don't know how to round off what I just said, but nothing is never worth nothing. Everything has worth. Your life is absolutely no exception. It has a lot of worth to me, and to many people around us, as well, I'm sure. :)

Rhydian, life is hard- that's what makes it a challenge. You shouldn't be disheartened by the flaws- you're only human. We all are. You should take mistakes and learn from them, grow. If someone makes you feel bad, don't let them. They're insufferable and childish and naive. You however, are incredible. You're a writer, like us- you see things that others can't. Create things that are unfathomable. Your life is worth living because you have a talent. Don't give up, accept. ((And I know acceptance takes time but it will come, I promise))

And then I'll get told that I'm lazy. Thats all my mother ever does. She has no fucking idea how much I bust my ass at drama I learned ballroom dancing. I can't dance for the life of me I spent the hour I had in the second dance learning it and guess what? I'll bust my ass again next week and the week after and then eery practice i will bust my ass and comes tech week (week leading to opening night) i practically live at school and I bust my arse I do I'm there until 8-9pm every night working my ass off doing what i need. And it isn't exactly fun staying late. She doesnt have the guts to do theater i do and i do it because i have a strength in it and i do it for the people coming. Our school got ranked number one place to see a show in the entire area. That says something.
I wonder if you can buy the book of revelations.
