Laura was meant to come round yesterday to pick up her copy, but instead she's calling round tonight. While I wait for her to arrive, I've been going over the word counts to all the books so far. I'm very surprised by the first four books— for some reason, I thought everything I've written had been over 80,000 words. Apparently not.
Skulduggery Pleasant was 67,393 words.
Playing With Fire was 69,683.
The Faceless Ones was 69,689.
Dark Days was 77,335.
And now we see the numbers start to jump...
Mortal Coil was 104,000.
Deathbringer was 118,000.
Kingdom of the Wicked was 134,765.
And the second draft of Last Stand of Dead Men is coming in at a back-breaking 156,688 words. Basically, it's twice the length of Dark Days.
I don't know how long it'll be after the edit, but hopefully I'll be able to trim it down a little.

And she just sort of stood there not reacting.
And then there was a bit more dialouge I forgot, with Never being unreactant and HUnter being annoying and Marks just getting impatient on the other end.
And then Hunter said, "I'll give you your phone back if you act annoyed about me stealing it."
And she was like, "HUNTER JUST FUCKING GIVE ME MY PHONE BACK!
And he was like, "*tilts head to side* That was fun. I tell you what, you keep doing that and I'll give you back your phone when I get bored of it."
And she was just like, "Yu are the most irritating person in the whole universe."

And she was like, "No."
And then he went off into this huge explanation of how Ez had tried to go mental but kept laughing and he'd quoted SP all the way home, even if he did stitch quotes together (an even from here, an if from there, a he from the other, and did, stitch and quote from the other other). And he got really into it and Never just held out her hand for her phone in the middle of it and he just chucked it over because he wasn't concentrating, and then she started talking to Marks, and then Hunter was like "DAMN you. You evil little THIEF. Back girl, Never, stealing is naughty."
And then she stopped talkng to Marks for a mo and was like, "Well, you stole it off me in the first place!"
And he was like, "I didn't steal it. I . . . found it."
And she was like, "It wasn't lost."
And he was like, "Maybe not physically, but it was mentally, because it's a lonely little phone. You don't care about it, you just use it to communicate. It doesn't have anyone to lov it and it's all floating around lost aboard the sea of life, all alone."
And she was like, "You don't care about YOUR phone."
And then he just put his hands over his ears and started sining Wings, and like, "Your words don't mean a thing, I'm not listening, keep talking, all I know is . . ."
And Never just went back to talking.

And he got to the chorus, which he and Ez had modified (badly. They did it in like five minutes then forgot about it) because both their mothers had been pretty crap and never said anything of the sort:

And THEN the man came up to ask if he was okay.
And Never was like, "Yes, he's just . . . resting."
And Hunter was like, "No I'm not, she PUSHED me."
And Never was like, "What? I didn't!"
And Hunter was like, "You pushed me with your words. 'No matter what you say, you just hurt me . . ."
And Never was like to the man, "Don't worry, he's fine, hes always like this."
And then Hunter went soemthing like, "Pasta bag? Headphones waterbottle gun."
And then Never said something else to him and he replied in perfectly serious gibberish, and Never was getting pretty worried because, y'know, he can do that.
And the man was like, "I do hope you're acting."
And Hunter was like, "Of course I am."
And Never was like, "Fuck you."
And Hunter went back to singing Wings, and the man walked off, and then Hunter was singing, "And I'm too horse to care."
And Never was like "Horse?"
And Hunter was like "Yes, like horseflies."
And then Never needed to tell Marks something Marks didn;t want Hunter to hear, so she put headphones on himm and turn them right up then dropped his jackte on his head so he couldn't see anything.
And then that's about as far as I got. :P

So, apparently I have to dedicate for this page. I’m not so good at dedicating, but Mara gave me the rights to dedicate.
And the conversation above is my inspiration for this dedication.
Everyone is different, everyone is unique. So why are you going to try to change to make someone else like you? They should like you for who you are, not for who they make you.
Individuality is one of the most incredible things we have, I believe. Without that, what do we have? Really?
Our individuality is what makes us us. If we weren’t ourselves, the chances of things being invented are so much slimmer than they already are.
Do you think, without individuality, we would have arts such as drawing, writing, singing and dancing? Because I’m not sure we would, not in the same way we have them now.
The unique touches that people give to things are like fingerprints. Nobody has the same signature. With writing, every writer writes differently. With singing, no two people have the exact same voice. With dancing, everyone has different abilities. And drawing? Everyone has a different style.
My point here is, no two people are the same. But that’s a good thing. If we were all to be the same – wearing the same outfits, looking exactly the same, liking the same things, disliking the same things, being no different to anyone else – then how would we know if we liked someone? They’d be just like you.
Without differences within us, life is nothing. We’d get nowhere. The human race would probably die out.
That’s why I’m dedicating to uniqueness. The fact that our opinions all differ, and the fact that we can accept our differences – whether they are bad or good – and can still love each other with them. They say that for a couple to work, they must be opposites and equals, so differences are a necessity, in my mind.
I dedicate to the differences we all have, and how everyone is themselves. Were life to be any different, I would not want to live it. I’m thankful for the fact that not everyone has blonde hair, that not everyone has sea-green eyes, that not everyone has freckles, that not everyone is “skinny”… It’s the differences in us that make us so perfect, to me.
Thank you, for being you. And thank you for having differing opinions to me, because without that I don’t think I’d learn.
