Laura was meant to come round yesterday to pick up her copy, but instead she's calling round tonight. While I wait for her to arrive, I've been going over the word counts to all the books so far. I'm very surprised by the first four books— for some reason, I thought everything I've written had been over 80,000 words. Apparently not.
Skulduggery Pleasant was 67,393 words.
Playing With Fire was 69,683.
The Faceless Ones was 69,689.
Dark Days was 77,335.
And now we see the numbers start to jump...
Mortal Coil was 104,000.
Deathbringer was 118,000.
Kingdom of the Wicked was 134,765.
And the second draft of Last Stand of Dead Men is coming in at a back-breaking 156,688 words. Basically, it's twice the length of Dark Days.
I don't know how long it'll be after the edit, but hopefully I'll be able to trim it down a little.

I had a terrible day today, but on the shiny side, I have learnt two things: 1. I must learn to control my stronger-than-average emotional reactions and 2. how it feels to be jabbed in the eye really hard. *Nialldles*
Always good to know about things like the latter, in case I ever have to write about it. :) I dunno, I always just thought that a jab in the eye meant a light stinging. Now I know that, if intensely jabbed, it can be painful and blind an oponnent for five/ten minutes, which could be incredibly useful in a fight. Unless you're fighting a master who can easly defeat you with his eyes closed, or unless you're fighting a blind person, or unless something else, but I rest my point. The effects will be lessened, however, if the eye is not open when you jab it.
(Every bad experience I have (and good ones too), I always feel glad that I have more writing experience :) It also takes the edge off things a little).
And another thought I have to take the edge off things like boredom is: when you're old and dying, you'll long for this moment back, so you may as well enjoy it whilst you have it. *stops self elaborating in unnecessary detail, partially using a miraculous nvention called backspacing*

But it's actually nothing to do with me. I don't believe there is anything wrong with yellow shower curtains.
