Laura was meant to come round yesterday to pick up her copy, but instead she's calling round tonight. While I wait for her to arrive, I've been going over the word counts to all the books so far. I'm very surprised by the first four books— for some reason, I thought everything I've written had been over 80,000 words. Apparently not.
Skulduggery Pleasant was 67,393 words.
Playing With Fire was 69,683.
The Faceless Ones was 69,689.
Dark Days was 77,335.
And now we see the numbers start to jump...
Mortal Coil was 104,000.
Deathbringer was 118,000.
Kingdom of the Wicked was 134,765.
And the second draft of Last Stand of Dead Men is coming in at a back-breaking 156,688 words. Basically, it's twice the length of Dark Days.
I don't know how long it'll be after the edit, but hopefully I'll be able to trim it down a little.

Aha, at the end of Games when Sir was talking and we were all sat on the grass listening,, my friend was gathering all this hay stuff (the grass was cut a week or so ago) into a ball, and then the lesson ended, so she picked it up and carried it as we were walking across the field back to the changing rooms. All the hay kept blowing out between her fingers (and onto me because I was standing next to her. Joy), so she was adding more to it too. She called it a nest, incidentally. Then she put a buttercup in it. :)
I can't remember why, but for some reason she needed her hands or whatevs so then she gave it to me to hold.
As we approached the end of the field, we were wondering what the hell to do with it so it would stay intact. The changing rooms get cleaned so it wasn't safe there, and if it had been put under some trees by the fence it would just have been blown away . . . I wandered off to put it under these bushes but it didn't look too great and sheltered, and then I noticed they'd gone into the changing rooms without me, so I went in still holidng the nest, and they were all like what did you bring it in 'ere for, and I was like I don't know where was I meant to out it? And then I was just standing there because I couldn't get changed whilst holding it (it took both hands), and I was just like help, what do I DO??? And then I just sat down on the floor laughing going help. And then my friend who made the nest told me to just put it in the corner while I got changed. So I did and I got changed. ANd then we were all like, well now what do we do. And my friend was like, does anyone have a plastic bag? And I was like, I do. It's the one I put my trainers in . . . So I put the nest in my carrier bag (it's a Waterstones one, so I like it) and said I would put it in a sandwich bag when I got home so it was easier to transport and then give it to her tomorrow. So now I'm going to do that.
. . . Yes, we're that crazy. XD

Yeah, so also today, we were coming out of the lunch hall, and I looked at my friend, and she was holding an Appletizer can, and I was thinking, urgh here we go again. And we just walked for a second, and I was trying to walk faster than her, so she sped up, and then I raced to the bin and put my hand over it (because it's a tradition now for her to try to put her cans in the normal bin, and I always scream, snatch them off her and put them in the recycling). So then she walked out the door to outisde (it's right by the bin) and I was like what. So then I went outside, and I saw she was heading for one of the bins outside, so I ran towards her, and my other friend was also running after her . . . And then my friend with the can chucked it in the bin and I was like noooooooooooooooo. So we stood around the bin, and they were going, go on Holly, take it out the bin. And I was like nah, I only reach into bins without tops on (it was the bin where you throw the rubbish into holes near the top on the side . . . yeah). And my friend was like yes, that makes it sound so much more normal. And then I reached in and I got the can and I went and chucked it in the recycling bin. And my hand smelt of bin slightly. Yuck.
And then my other friend was grabbing hold of my friend and dragging here (to where, I don't know) as punishment for chucking the can in the normal bin.
And then I started helping.
And she was getting free and we were clinging onto her and yeah.
And then she went in the toilets, so I stopped chasing her, because, like . . . I wouldn't have followed her into a cubicle because that would have been ERRRRRRRRR.
So then we grabbed her after she came out the toilets.
And we were pulling her through the door to outside, and she was pulling the other way.
And my friend on my side was like let go of her, so I did, and then she shut the door on her and we speedwalked off.
And then she followed us, like duh.
And then we all went and sat on these metal bar things.
And then my friend who had been on my side (A) held up my other friend(B)'s bag, because she'd nicked it.
And B was like urgh beacsue she coudln't be bothered to get off the bar.
And A was like come and get it, B, come and get it.
And I was like, I'll come and get it.
And A was like no, B has to do it.
So B got off the bar and walked towards A, and then A held the bag out over the other side of the bar.
And B was like, I'm not playing this game. And she went back and sat on the bar.
And A was like okay. And then she started taking random sheets out of the bag and asking B if she needed them. And B was like yes, that's homework.
And then she started taking schoolbooks out, and passing them to me so I could pass them to B, and B put them in her PE bag, which she had.
And a few got dropped on the floor, so I got up and picked them up, because I'm nice.
And then . . . I think A gave B back her bag, but she kept her pencil case . . . No, I had her pencil case, and I went held it over the rubbish bin, a different one to the ones before, and was threatening to drop it in. And A and B got off the bars, and THEN B went to pick up her bag where A had left it, and A was like Holleeeee, chuck me the pencil case!
So I did.
And then A held the pencil case high up in the air, because she's tall and B's a midget.
Then B whacked her in the face with her bag, but she was aiming for her arm.
And A went to another bin (there are a lot of bins), and threatened to drop it in.
And she was like I will do it, you know.

And then B got it, and we went back and sat on the bars.
And then A was like my head hurts where you whacked it. And then they argued about things like who was the most evil and whether A'd ever hurt B's head. And then A was like all distanty. She was on the over side of the bars, btw. And I was like okay, first advice, sit down. So she just sat down there on the ground, and B was laughing at that. And I was like second advice . . . well, it would be to put something cold on your head like frozen peas, but we don't have that.
And then after a bit of discussing I gave her my mostly-empty water bottle because it was rather cool.
And she just sat there with my waterbottle on her head going ow.
And her forehead was all swollen and red.
And I was like, er, I don't know what to do, crap, I'm rubbish at first aid. You could have concussion or something. Because she said she was really tired, so.
And B was like I don't think I hit her that hard.
And A was like there was a bottle of perfume in your bag and it hit me!
And then we walked to the next lesson with A still having my waterbottle on her head, and everyone we met (that was friendly with us), she asked, is my forehead all swollen? And they were lik oh my God, yeah!
And then in the changing rooms (yeah, it was Games) she gave me my bottle back.
And her forehead had faded by then so it wasn't red anymore.
Like yay.
(She'll probably come to school with a massive bruise over it D:)

My mum always says stuff like, ask people things you already know, because it's a friendly gesture to ask them . . .
Also, a good technique for me is, don't show someone how weird you are until you know them. I don't necessarily always follow my technique, but I think it would get me somewhere if I did.
And . . I'll think, but I'm not terriby good at making friends, so. :/
