Laura was meant to come round yesterday to pick up her copy, but instead she's calling round tonight. While I wait for her to arrive, I've been going over the word counts to all the books so far. I'm very surprised by the first four books— for some reason, I thought everything I've written had been over 80,000 words. Apparently not.
Skulduggery Pleasant was 67,393 words.
Playing With Fire was 69,683.
The Faceless Ones was 69,689.
Dark Days was 77,335.
And now we see the numbers start to jump...
Mortal Coil was 104,000.
Deathbringer was 118,000.
Kingdom of the Wicked was 134,765.
And the second draft of Last Stand of Dead Men is coming in at a back-breaking 156,688 words. Basically, it's twice the length of Dark Days.
I don't know how long it'll be after the edit, but hopefully I'll be able to trim it down a little.

I know no one's here, I just need to say something. And if someone arrives while I'm writing this I mean no insult to you. I'm a bit down. There come times in everyone's lives when the world gets you down. Normally for me this just means I get really tired at idiots saying stupid things and such. The world can erode even the strongest rock given time. Now is one such time, I think this is just the exhaustion from exams and a bit of tiredness joining together and making me not think straight. But the sheer amount of people leaving is getting me down. It only really hit me this morning that Death was gone, Jubi is probably going to dissapear without a trace when her parents find out about Blogland, I think it was Lavender who left and we were all emailed about and Mara's taking a break from the Internet because of haters. I know it's not that many, but three of them were some of the first Bloglandians I ever met, and to lose them saddens me, even if Mara is only for a while. This is just me moaning about the world and how several things have grouped together at one time to create a slightly bad atmosphere that got to me. Pwor. Glad to get that out. Don't mind me, I'm all done with my sadness. The concentration needed to type all that on a digital keyboard burned it right from my system!
