161,556 words. That's how long the book is right now. I wanted to have the edit done by tonight, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. I'm up at 6 in the morning to catch a plane to Leeds, so I'm about to hit the sack.
Oh, and for those of you who were pleading with me to keep LSODM as long as possible... you've got your wish. My editor Nick and my agent Michelle both got back to me, suggesting tiny changes here and there, but nothing that would shorten the book.
So the HUGE amount of characters stay in. The MASSIVE battles stay in. The HILARIOUS jokes and LIGHTNING-FAST wit stay in. Verily, it is a good day to be a Minion.
And I've just been chatting to Laura, who calls it the "deepest and darkest one yet". So I've got her all-important seal of approval, which makes me happy.
When it's out, when you've read it, I'll talk more about the writing of it, and the various problems I had to deal with in order to make it work. Everything from Book Two onwards has been leading up to LSODM, after all. Of all the books, this is the one I was certain about from the very beginning, in 2005, but it was one I was the most unsure about when I was actually writing it. So it comes as a relief to know it's actually good.
So... tomorrow I'm in Leeds— the tickets to which are now sold out— and on Saturday I'm signing in Waterstones in York at 11AM— and no tickets needed.
I'm been really quiet lately, on the Blog and on Twitter, and I do apologise for that, but I had to devote all my attention to the book. Now that it's (practically) done, I can get back to normal. Which'll be... er... nice.

My mosquito bites have been so annoying! I have two right next to each other on the heel of my left hand and one on the side of my right middle finger . . . My palm one is really irritating because I can't lean on anything and my right middle finger is all swollen up. It's 125% of its original size, I swear. *mutters* That creasey bit in the middle just sticks out being lumpy and my finger won't fold properly or fit in my my other fingers.
The ones on my palm somehow have LINES (raised red blotch lines, think it's where my veins are, looking at my right hand) running to each other. D: And earlier today it was slightly throbbing yellow (you know how mosquito bits go red and yellow when you stretch them? That kind of yellow. Not bright yellow) as my pulse beat. It was creepyyyyy. :P
I would have been pleased people had actually took NOTICE of my/Hunter's RedRays, and they did more than that, they discussed them and used them and didn't ignore how painful they were I LOVE YOU ALL EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE AKAY AND YES I JUST DISCOVERED THAT WAS POSSIBLE. :)

I just don't know how to fix it and I just... I just don't even know anymore... Like, the whole idea with the name thing is that we can have a community of people talking at the same time as the community of people who are roleplaying, but it just feels like the roleplayers are always there so when somebody who wants to talk comes on they leave, and then ten minutes later somebody else who wants to talk comes, sees only roleplayers, and then leaves... And I always feel really really bad whenever somebody leaves because of roleplaying because nobody should feel driven out of Blogland...

But guys, you're forgetting - roleplay is older than this. When I was new and many months before that, Blogland was ALL roleplay. Then we had the period where Blogland kins of died, and after that people were just chatting. Many of the old Bloglandians don't come on because Blogland is changed and has no roleplaying anymore. Now it's back, we've sort of come full circle.
Roleplay was here before you, it just died out for a bit.
If people come on and chat, I WILL CHAT TO THEM. If I'm there. But you have to post more than one comment or say hello, otherwise I probably will ignore you because that's what I've done for months when multiple people are on. XD
Don't think, everyone's roleplaying. Think, everybody has no one to chat to. I'm often happy to chat but don't because there are no chatters on. CHAT TO ME! If Hunter's here, I'm here. :)

Sorry Star you have a good point and that comment kind of made me feel better but I still just feel really bad because people have made this their haven and I have this thing where I like helping people- I know how much it hurts people to be ignored- and so when I ignore people even if I don't mean to I really hate it a lot... And then sometimes somebody comes in and says something, and some roleplayers say hi, but then go back to rigorous roleplaying, and it's not that we're not paying attention, it just looks like we aren't, and then people leave and they feel bad and I hate making people feel bad...
To be honest, Fabi, I'm kind of an emotional wreck today because one of my best friends did something really stupid and had to go away for a few days and just came back and the moment I saw her I just had this huge mental breakdown. But it was making her really sad to see me being such a wreck because I'm never a wreck- my job is to hold up everybody else when they become a wreck, not the other way around- so I just kind of forced it all down and tried to be ok for her and now it's all coming out again on you guys... Sorry...

For the record, the sigh and the 'I know' was a response to Fabi's comment... Though that's a pretty cool map of it, Star. To be honest, I don't even know what I am anymore! Tempted to call myself RPB because I'm pretty much roleplaying all the time, but I love roleplaying and chatting equally, and I was here chatting all the time before roleplay came back... Anyway, it's nice to look at it as a cycle like that. Sort of comforting, in a way.

So my solution will be to make sure I do it, because I end up here for a majority of 24 hours every day anyway. I've been debating doing this since, like, this morning, so here's what I'll do- since I can maintain two characters without much difficulty, when I see a chat person, just drop one of the characters and use the other one for chatting. It's harder for you to chat and rp simultaneously than anyone else because you're (writing for) two people . . . :/ Sorry.
I think everyone else should be able to both chat and rp though, and it pangs me when someone comes on, everyone says hi, then they go straight back to rping and the chatter doesn't reply coz they feel ignored (it look like ignoring, sorry) and the rps don't say anything else coz thwy have nothing to reply to, which reinforces the chatter's ignored belief, and they leave.
I haven't done it yet coz I haven't rped today, but I'm planning to put my roing display name as:
Hunter - roleplaying (BUT STAR WOULD LOVE TO CHAT!)

Yeah, I really love them both equally, I just always involve myself in whatever other people happen to be doing, and the moment I got involved in roleplaying... Well, I'll quote Supernatural- there was this angel in that show who kept falling and ended up useless and insane in the end, and it all started with him bringing this one guy back from Hell. So when another angel found him, she yelled, "You were lost the moment you laid a hand on him in Hell!" all dramatic-like and it was a good moment. Well, not good, but really well done, if you know what I mean. So I really do love them both equally, but you could say I was lost the moment I laid a hand on Adra in the afterlife... Whatever's going on, I can't make myself stop.
Fabi- I don't know what that was because, to be honest, I'm pretty rubbish at codes, and I'd be tempted but as I said I'm rubbish at them. So I'm really sorry you couldn't tell me, and I'm going to hug you now. *hugs*
Also, you're actually really good at roleplay (I do pay attention to everyone, even if I end up stretching myself so thin that I can't acknowledge people and then they feel ignored). From what I've observed, it's just that you don't ever just take anything over (this goes in general, too- and I hope this doesn't offend you, I don't mean it to be offensive.) You have awesome ideas, and often the most practical/logical/efficient/true ideas, but they don't get the respect they deserve because you're really respectful of other people's ideas too.
