Wow.
Okay, that was one of the most fun competitions I've run so far. The Exquisite Corpse competition is shaping up brilliantly— the standard on display is just mind-boggling— but the Spirit Lake contest has just been fun from start to finish.
So here's what I did.
I collected all of the names of the people who entered, both here on this Blog and on Twitter, and I divided them into bundles. I made sure that each and every one had a valid reason for why they should be a video game character. Some of these reasons made sense. Some were just odd. Some were VERY odd. There are people, both Minions and Ronda Rousey fans, who are just unsettling. I'm not entirely sure how their brains work— if indeed their brains work at all.
To give you a hint of what I've been dealing with, here are a few reasons you people gave. "Because of my neurax worms." "Because I like pie." "Because I'm short.""Because I've watched Robot Wars.""Because I have a psychic elephant.""Because I have a need for speed.""Because I'm not very smart (which will make the player feel better about themselves).""Because I am Dr Who.""Because I sometimes think that I'm the only human being in the world. The rest of you are all aliens.""I would make an awesome video game character because I already AM an awesome video game character.""Because I am actually Lakota (the Spirit Lake people are my Dakota relatives)."
So I divided you all up, and those of you who entered multiple times got your names put into as many groups as possible. From each of these groups, a winner was chosen. The winners were then put into a hat.
(Not an ACTUAL hat, since I don't own one, but a METAPHORICAL hat.)
(Okay, fine, I wrote all your names on a sheet of paper and I let my cat walk on it, and the closest one to where her tail touched down was the winner.)
And sooooo... without further ado... the winner is...
Willow Kowalski!
Yayyyyyyy Willow! The only thing I know about Willow is that she's five years old (so, er, she can wait a few years before she starts reading my books) and she's a Ronda fan... It's a lovely prize, and I can't think of anyone it'd make happier.

THIS IS MY DEDICATION. IT STARTS OUT WITH A WEIRD WRITTEN THINGY, BUT THE DED IS IN THERE, DON'T WORRY.
Dozens of tiny sparks of light flit in and out of a patch of night sky. Some have been there for years, some only for days, some come often, some seldom, some have not even met, and yet they all have much in common. When one starts to fall from the sky, the others are there guiding her/him back up with their flickers of energy. Some are dim, faint glows, others bright and cheerful, some big, some small, all in a variety of different colors, shapes, personalities.
In the middle of it all, a deep blue-gray spark, one of the smaller ones, feels herself falling, her light flickering dimmer and dimmer as gusts of wind drag her down. She covers it with a lampshade, she hides it, not as well as she'd like to, but well enough. And yet, every time she starts to slip, one or more of the other sparks is there, making her brighter, happier than she would be anywhere else.
A bright orange light whizzes around in circles at a ridiculous speed, and the blue-gray light can't help but feel lighter, happier by seeing her friend so cheerful.
Another blue light, this one more of a bluer blue, something of a sky blue, cheerfully floats past, muttering to itself, something about an asylum for the disturbed. And the directions to get there sound rather contradictory, come on, get up, get down...inside the fire. The blue-gray light smiles slightly, understanding the mumbo-jumbo better than the narrator.
A violet spark bounces past, humming and fangirling and tacklehugging everyone, including the blue-gray light, who smiles and hugs back, humming along to the song: "spread your wings, my little butterfly..."
Other times when the blue-gray light starts to drift back towards the ground, she's been helped by a rainbow light that glows more than she realizes, a deep purple flicker, a more medium purple light that has been gone for some time but is still very much a part of this beautiful place, a bright green spark, a dark blue/black flickering that seems menacing and evil at first, but has helped many, including the blue-gray light; another rainbow spark, this one smaller in size but just as bright, as well as many others, too many to name.
There have been times when she's been selfish, or lashed out in anger, and yet they still accept her, still help her up when she needs it, even if she doesn't say. They're perfect, every one of them, even those that deny it.
I dedicate this page to all of you, all the Bloglandians ever, old and new, even the ones I haven't met. You've helped me more than I tell you most times. To all those I mentioned as sparks/lights and those I didn't, to those who are here often and those who haven't been for some time.

Gonna soo my brother and his wife today. They're going to the A-kon in Dallas Texas, and since they're usually living in Colorado and Texas is mucho closer-o, we drove six hours and they drive an extra two to go out to eat.

And I have felt tip all over my hands, which my mum told me off for as I'n going to this manicure place with my friend, and I pointed out that I'M not getting a manicure, but apparebtly even so you don't go into a place like that with stuff all over your hands. (?)
It's not my fault. When I draw with felt tips, I end up with felt tip on my hands. It's when I take the lid off and put it on. :P

The A-kon is short for "Anime Convention," but it isn't just anime fans. There's people from tv shows and video games comic books. Have you ever watched Firefly? Last year, there was a guy dressed up as Malcolm Reynolds. There's steampunk and fan art and posters of everything- including Doctor Who and Sherlock. Google Dallas A-kon or something, and it should give a bunch of pictures.
We ordered Thai food, and the Thai guy came up, and when I opened the door, he was like, "This place... It's like Halloween!"
It was awesome. >.<

@Taia: Yup, that's better! :D I've got loads of time now (BECAUSE I'VE FINISHED EXAMS WHHAAAA?!?!?! :O ) so I'll probably start today and finish tomorrow or next week (my parents are going to be here over the weekend :) ). If it goes well maybe I'll give it to Derek when I see him in Leeds? I normally keep my drawings and put them up on my wall/wardrobe, but having a picture of him up there would be weird - like his eyes were following me around my room O.o

Ah, well, you don't HAVE to read the reviews. I only do that once in a while, but there's an excellent synopsis on books, which I almost always read before buying a book.
