I've noticed a few... plot holes, with the SP series in general. These are not bad points, I'm just sharing my ideas in the hope you'll include them in one of the books.
1. The Sanctuary MUST have friends within the government.
Can the Sanctuary know EVERY CCTV camera that captures all the explosions? Can they remove ALL the websites that have details about magic on?
So I've created an organisation who can.
They're called the Special Operations of the Supernatural, or the SOS for short.
They provide counter-terrorist services (such as taking down dark sorcerers who want to destroy the world), and also they try and cover things up.
The SOS is made up of the very best men and women from all the security services, and the SAS. There is a lengthy test to see if you can join (you will be notified first if they think you have potential), followed by a harsh training course involving firearms and many mental and fitness tests.
The SOS 'soldiers' are split into squads. Each squad contains a letter and two numbers. For example, A-04, or J-14. The letter shows what part of the headquarters they are in, and the numbers the sub-part. But that's not important.
Every SOS soldier wears full kevlar body armour and a helmet. The helmet is black and covers all of their face with a blue visor (made of bullet-proof glass). It has "SOS" written in silver on the forehead.
The armour itself is also black, though the fatigues underneath are blue and navy coloured in a camouflage pattern.
Each squad contains 4 'Units' and 2 pilots (the pilots don't wear helmets). The 'Units' are named "Unit 1", "Unit 2" etc. This is because the SOS has a strict privacy initiave. This states that no one in the entire department (apart from the Director - the leader) may know your name. Neither is anyone else, which is why they wear helmets.
The weapons used by the SOS are the Colt M4 Carbine and a Beretta M9 pistol. However, they may also have a Heckler & Koch MP5A3 during some of their missions (particulary counter-terrorist - since the MP5 is a great gun in those situations).
The 'soldiers' generally HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) jump into combat situations. Their helmets has a function for a HALO jump so they won't well... die.
They are a secret organisation, and have allies in Sanctuaries all around the world.
NO members of the SOS have magic. They rely on military tactics only to defeat mages. They have a knowledge of magic and how it works, however, since they have to in their line of work.
2. You mentioned the werewolves were low in number. So I've created a reason for this.
ReplyDeleteThe reason is the Apatonynchus. It is a very strange creature.
Its name means 'Deceptive Claw' in Greek.
It is about the size of a large wolf. It has short brown fur and stands on all four legs. It has a spiked tail (2 spikes either side of the tip).
Around its neck, it has frill much like the triceratops. This has been known to change colour depending on how the creature is feeling. Its ears are the shape of a lily, and are set upon the ends of antennae either side of its head.
It is carniverous and has sharp teeth. Its eyes are all yellow (even the 'whites'), and it has a black pupil.
Though its eyes are usable, the creature tends to emit ultrasonic waves like bats do to navigate its way around. Its sense of smell is amazing.
It is a magical creature. Although not from this dimension, they managed to come through in Gordon's caves (or at least, that's where they were first seen). Its magical powers are interesting. It cannot be affected by any magic, violent or not (the reason why it can kill werewolves without the use of silver). It can also walk on walls and ceilings.
And, also, due to a complex mixture of magic when two of the creatures mate, they also generate their own forcefields from birth that is active all the time. Nothing can penetrate the forcefield.
All the creatures of this species have a dislike of werewolves and hunt them down.

Me and my friend once did it in a taxi, I went flying across the map but he jumped out because he thought it wasn't going to happen - and it did - so he ended up hitting a huge billboard and dying. Then he respawned with a wanted level meanwhile I crashed into a building and survived.)
Because... yeah. Grand Theft Auto is THAT realistic. I can get fired at like 300mph across the map by a swing, hit a skyscraper, then the ground, and survive.

I have over like 50 characters somewhere around the depths of my blog with a range of magical powers. From Elementals to time travellers to... well, balls. I have a red spongeball as an OC called Spongeball Roundpants because someone asked me to create a character who wasn't deadly... so I made a spongeball.

ReplyDeleteYeah. My favourite character to use is Cabader. Cabader WAS a soldier in the second world war but he was killed by a German machine gun.
ReplyDeleteA dark mage used a combination of Necromancy and his own magical power (to be able to control souls) to hold his in place and build a body for him as an experiment. The mage used parts of an old soul catcher, Cabader's old army uniform and the machine gun that killed him.
Then the mage wanted to bring back the Faceless Ones so Cabader killed him and yeah.
Cabader WAS an elemental before he died, and because he's like... dead, there's only a tiny trace of his magic that remains. He can only control fire.
And since he's a spirit in a suit (it was upgraded from the WWII one to motorcycle clothing and a helmet, with blades and stuff that slide out from his wrists and a machine gun that comes out of his forearm and he can control it and stuff), he's immortal and can't be harmed by anything, magical or physical.
He's fun to use, and isn't as well... overpowered? as you might think.
But my main character is Dragona. Dragona's awesome.

The Dark Shadow currently is featuring in The Dark Shadow and The Diary. They're all set in the SP world.
The Dark Shadow (fanfic) features a detective in 1891 who tries to solve a murder mystery and it ends up leading him towards The Dark Shadow.
The Diary is about the SOS (see above - it's a long comment addressed to Derek), who get deployed in Tehran (capital of Iran) to deal with a zombie infestation. I've nearly finished the part where they run into The Dark Shadow.
If you do read them, it'd be a good idea to start them in order. There are a number of things that are... interesting.
