But before I get back to work, I have been asked to remind you all that my event at the Stratford Picture House on April 5th is the only public event I'll be doing for The Maleficent Seven. For those of you who don't know what a public event IS, it's basically me on stage yapping and answering questions for an hour, and then we go on to have a signing. All other appearances for TMS are just signings.
I've been asked to remind you about this because apparently there are lots of tickets available. Well, I'm ASSUMING there are lots of tickets available. The words used were "it's been slow to book", which means roughly the same thing. Maybe it's because it's the Easter holidays or it's the start of a weekend, but usually events pretty much sell out in a very short space of time. So Harper Collins publicity people are all going "uhhh... what's happening?"
Oh, and for those of you who have already booked tickets, don't you fret. If it IS a smaller crowd than usual, it just means the event will be more of a casual chat between all of us. And also you won't have to wait in line for hours.
But, uh, for all you others... book a ticket. Or something.

(also I had the Karaoke track for Cosmic Love and was singing a combination of Won't Give in and Perfect, which probably contributes to the not-so-goodness, but oh well!) anyway, my point was that it was the perfect thing to attach because it came directly from me.

For me, Disturbed and Device have very different styles, but they're very near each other on the awesomeness scale. Disturbed have more songs and different songs that are awesome in different ways to each other (because they've been going a lot longer), so because of the different layers of awesomeness, Disturbed is still higher on the awesomeness scale. Which isn't very fair to Device as they haven't had time to build up more awesomeness, but awesomeness scales don't care much about fairness.

Yeah, the PJ/HG one.
Here's the first bit. It's really bad, though:
I lay awake, staring at the ceiling. Sighing, I roll onto my side, hoping to fall asleep. I only find myself to be thinking of the Reaping to come. I look at the clock next to my bed – it’s 3 am, the reaping isn’t until this afternoon. I groan and flip my pillow over to the cold side.
I’ve not been able to sleep all night. My mind is too much of a mess. What if I get reaped? I’ll disappoint everyone if I lose, because of my mother; because of how she won the Quarter Quell in mere days.
People are going to expect so much of me if I have to go in there. But I’m not like my mother.
She’s still beautiful, even after all these years. She has sea green eyes and curly blonde hair, her face still looks young and I constantly wish that I looked like her. She has full lips, and high cheekbones. There’s no wonder she won with how pretty she is.
I don’t look like my mother, I look like I belong in District 4 – my hair is chocolate-brown and falls down to my waist. My eyes are different colours, one is green and one is blue. We do have similarities, like the way I am tall and thin, just like her, but that’s where the similarities end.
Whilst in the games she took to using a bow and arrow or an axe, I fail to excel with these weapons. I much prefer throwing knives, swords or, even, a trident. My mother was, apparently, deceiving; I don’t think I’m like that. I’m too honest to be like her.
I don’t know about my dad, though. I never met him. My mom says she met him in District Four when she was on the Victory Tour. But that’s all she will ever tell me. I don’t know who he is or what he’s like, but she tells me I look a bit like him.
“Liv? Are you awake?” I hear my mother ask, walking into my room. I didn’t even realise she was up.
I sit up, “Yeah, I can’t sleep.” I admit to her.
She sits on the end of my bed and smiles at me, sort of sadly. I don’t know why she’s awake, but I guess it’s just a coincidence.
“I thought as much. I can’t ever sleep the night before the reaping, either. Too many bad memories. Fancy some hot cocoa?” she smiles.
“And biscuits?”
She laughs. “Yes, and biscuits!”
I sit with the blanket around my shoulders, so I can drink the hot cocoa my mom just made for me, I sip at the cocoa, the warmth flowing through my body and warming me up from the inside.
“How are you feeling about the reaping?” my mom asks me, staring into a mug of cocoa of her own.
I shrug. “It’s just another reaping. If I don’t get reaped, I go back to life training as normal. If I do get reaped, someone will probably volunteer for me. Nothing to worry about, really.” I give her a weak smile, and then take another sip of my hot cocoa.
“Actually,” she looks up at me and meets my gaze. “Nobody will ever volunteer for you.”
I frown at her, then down at my cocoa. “What do you mean? Why will nobody ever volunteer for me?”
“Because of me, mostly. I’m a victor of the Quarter Quell; they’ll want to know if you’re as skilful as I proved myself to be in the arena. Plus, your father is unbeknown to you. To everyone, really. It’s not a good thing for a child in District Two to not have a complete family. It’s frowned upon. And, so, if you are reaped you will not be volunteered for as it is seen as a punishment to you, I guess.”
“Oh…” I force back tears. Fear is already starting to eat away at me. I surprise myself by asking her something, now: “Who is my father?”
“A man I met in District Four when on my victory tour.” She replies so plainly, and that bugs me.
“So I’m the result of a one-night-stand!?” I stand up, and knock my cup of cocoa across the table.
“I’ve told you before that your father is a man I met on my victory tour. Yet you choose to be angry now?” she’s so calm, it makes my blood boil. “And anyway, it wasn’t a one-night-stand. We met on my victory tour, but managed to carry date by meeting up every month when he snuck out of his district and into ours. I don’t know how he did it, but he did. When we found out I was pregnant, though, he stopped visiting. I’ve not seen him since.”
So when I leave, everyone comes to life?????

The whole thing is bugging me.
It just feels as though it's not working.
But it's probably because I wrote in Second person all of yesterday and going back to first person is sort of difficult. >_<
Luci- Maybe you could try writing it in second person instead, to, like, see if that helps at all?
Or perhaps try writing something else for a little while, and come back to it?
Those help me out, sometimes. ^^

I haven't done any writing in quite a while... I need to get back into the flow of that. But I also need to draw. It's not so easy to do both, and drawing means I can listen to music, too, so it's generally the favoured option. :P
