Actually hold on, we'll get to that in a moment. I have another 15 minutes before I have to post this entry, at 9 PM, and I'm going to use that 15 minutes, dammit. Because I did things today! Things that deserve to be blogged about!
Well, I did ONE thing that deserves to be blogged about. This afternoon I interviewed Steven Moffat, head of all things Doctor Who and Sherlock, on stage at Trinity College, Dublin. I'm pretty sure it wasn't recorded, though, so you're just going to have to take my word for how brilliantly it went. I've never interviewed anyone before— I'm used to being the one interviewed— so it was very interesting to sit in the other chair for a change.
Mr Moffat turned out to be everything I'd hoped he would be— he's a nice guy and he's FUNNY. It was such an informal, casual conversation that it made asking him questions a breeze. I love the shows he makes, as did everyone there, and it was so cool to be able to talk to him about them and not feel like a total nerd.
And for those of you who are wondering, yes, I DID ask him for Karen Gillan's phone number. NO, he did not give it to me. But I think I broke him down sufficiently that all it'll take is one more chance encounter, and then wa-heyyyyy!
Ahem.
Okay, I now have seven minutes until I have to post this entry.
Oh, I'll be doing two publicity events in Ireland on March the 7th. At 10:30 AM in the Riverbank Theatre in Kildare I'll be interviewing (because I do it SO well) Alex Barclay on stage about her new book Curse of Kings.
Later that day, back in Easons in O'Connell Street at 6 PM, Alex and I will be doing... er... some sort of event. We haven't a clue WHAT we'll be doing, to be honest, but it'll be brilliant, and it'll be funny. I swear. Probably.
At both events, we'll be signing whatever you want signed.
Two minutes!
Okay then, here we go. This title has been in my head for years. EVERYTHING in the series has been leading up to Books Eight and Nine, and this is really where it all starts to build to the (hopefully epic) conclusion.
Prepare yourself for horror! Tragedy! Hilarity! Fights! Blood! Quips! Magic! Everything that makes life worth living!

I'll think of something to ded to a minute. Meanwhile, you can all busy yourself by reading some of my unnamed story, in a chapter that will be called Alice In Wonderland Without The Alice Part. I may introduce a character called Alice next and call my following chapter Alice In Wonderland With The Alice Part. :P
Ez had just got up when there was a huge roar, a cross between a hundred waterfalls and a thousand lions.
Ez and Hunter looked at each other, too used to guns and explosives to need to wince or shield theirs ears. "That's not good," Ez summarized.
"Not good," Hunter quoted. "A synonym for BAD."
"STOP with the obscure references," Ez growled, knowing him well enough to recognise his quoting face.
"Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony," he informed her.
"What?"
Shadow fell like a blanket over the surrounding area, and the noise stopped.
Ez and Hunter slowly turned their heads to Hunter's left, Ez's right.
"This is too cliché," Hunter commented, not at all worried. "It's like in a movie."
Looming down over them was a . . . something. It seemed like a huge, black wall, stretching up to what appeared to be just below the sky. It was riddled with cracks, some large, some tiny, and through them red light glowed.
Ez blinked. " . . . Okay . . . " she said slowly, sceptically, raising one eyebrow. "Hunter, how long until I wake up?"
"Time often seems different in dreams to real life, so I don't know."
"Great."
Then the wall started sliding slowly forward with a loud rumbling noise.
Hunter and Ez locked eyes, both their expressions saying the same thing: not yet.
When the wall was within a few inches of their feet, Hunter's mouth tightened and Ez nodded. Simultaneously they whizzed off at a hundred miles an hour, the scenary blurring past, the air hitting into them like a wall, their feet barely touching the ground.
Hunter looked back and frowned. The wall . . .
Ez tugged on his arm, telling him to stop. They stood there, frozen in silence.
The wall was ten metres away.

The title of the new book says: 'Last Stand of Dead Men'
It doesn't say THE Dead Men.
Could this mean that it could be dead people losing the big finale, or something? Rather than what we think it all is.
I think that's what Derek is doing - trying to make us think of THE Dead Men, when it could be dead men in general.

I really don't want the series to end.
I mean, Blogland is getting new people all the time, but will Blogland exist a year after the final book is released? Or will Blogland turn into a one comment thing, where no one stays around.
Will the Blogland regulars stay? Will we move on? I don't want them to. I don't want to. I love it the way it is now. OK, some of the regulars aren't able to be on now, but what if we could keep Blogland alive, for however long this blog page lasts?
They way it is now, isn't exactly perfect. It's close. But just add in some people who aren't able to be here (Lynx, Kessie, etc.) and add in the new people, Blogland would be perfect. <3

Also, yes, books FTW. All I got for my birthday was books, I WAS SO HAPPY.
Apparently, when my mum was buying them all, a woman commented on how many books she was carrying and my mum told her that I'd asked for them for my birthday, and when the woman asked 'how old is she going to be?' and my mum replied '19', the woman just looked at her and said 'you definitely did something right' (referring to the way she brought me up)
More people in our generation need to appreciate books more!
