Actually hold on, we'll get to that in a moment. I have another 15 minutes before I have to post this entry, at 9 PM, and I'm going to use that 15 minutes, dammit. Because I did things today! Things that deserve to be blogged about!
Well, I did ONE thing that deserves to be blogged about. This afternoon I interviewed Steven Moffat, head of all things Doctor Who and Sherlock, on stage at Trinity College, Dublin. I'm pretty sure it wasn't recorded, though, so you're just going to have to take my word for how brilliantly it went. I've never interviewed anyone before— I'm used to being the one interviewed— so it was very interesting to sit in the other chair for a change.
Mr Moffat turned out to be everything I'd hoped he would be— he's a nice guy and he's FUNNY. It was such an informal, casual conversation that it made asking him questions a breeze. I love the shows he makes, as did everyone there, and it was so cool to be able to talk to him about them and not feel like a total nerd.
And for those of you who are wondering, yes, I DID ask him for Karen Gillan's phone number. NO, he did not give it to me. But I think I broke him down sufficiently that all it'll take is one more chance encounter, and then wa-heyyyyy!
Ahem.
Okay, I now have seven minutes until I have to post this entry.
Oh, I'll be doing two publicity events in Ireland on March the 7th. At 10:30 AM in the Riverbank Theatre in Kildare I'll be interviewing (because I do it SO well) Alex Barclay on stage about her new book Curse of Kings.
Later that day, back in Easons in O'Connell Street at 6 PM, Alex and I will be doing... er... some sort of event. We haven't a clue WHAT we'll be doing, to be honest, but it'll be brilliant, and it'll be funny. I swear. Probably.
At both events, we'll be signing whatever you want signed.
Two minutes!
Okay then, here we go. This title has been in my head for years. EVERYTHING in the series has been leading up to Books Eight and Nine, and this is really where it all starts to build to the (hopefully epic) conclusion.

I ded to a number of things.
FIRSTLY - All you guys. You're just amazing. I mean, you can be fun to chat to, and that is so awesome and fun, but the thing I'm thinking of now is when you suddenly all start being so nice. To me, or someone else, and you just make me smile and give me this warm glow. :) *visualises yellowwhite glwoing light*
GAH, I'M TURNING INTO HUNTER, I SWEAR. Oh, wait, I always visualised things like that before I made him up. Gah.
I dedicate to my character Hunter. He helped me complete my PE work. I said this when I first came on, but - we had to create a sports game, and nobody was having any ideas, obviously. Then I thought, "Hunter could do this in five seconds flat -_-", and then I thought, "Now, if Hunter was making up this game, how would he do it?"
And I thought of a game, omgg. :)
The game . . . It's played in large teams. You have preventers and collectors. There are twice as many preventers as collectors. All but two of the preventers have to link arms in a wall, then the wall divides into three walls. The three walls go on after another down the pitch, like

There is a safe area at one end of the walls and a collection point at the other . . .

. . . And the collection point has four balls in it. All the collectors have to go from the safe area to the collection point. The walls have to try and get in their way. When all the collectors are in the collection point, they have to get the balls back to the safe area. They can throw them to each other, but the balls have to be carried into the safe area.
There is a catch - two minutes after the collectors have left the safe area, two preventers come out and basically try and tag people out. If you are holding the ball and get tagged, you drop it.
If the collectors do it, they get a point. After they've won/failed, the teams swap over.
It's slightly crazy and is similar to breaking and entering - you break in and out, dodging stuff, and have a bit of time before people realise you're there. It's very Hunter. I would never have thought of it, ever, by myself. And then I pretend I'm him and WHAM, few seconds later I have the game.
So, thank you, Hunter. You don't exist, and you're a little creepy the way you're taking over my mind, but thank you anyway.

THIRDLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I'm going to ded to the hope of getting taught RS better in the future and use this as an excuse to show you all my speech I write on Saturday. Uh, again. Because I want to get the message out.
RELIGIOUS PEOPLE ARE NOT MINDLESS ROBOTS
I don't think people realise that belonging to a religion doesn't automatically make you a mindless drone that thinks exactly the same as everyone else in the religion. People in a religion still have different views and are still human with their own opinions. What do you think will happen if you join a religion? Do you think they brainwash you with their special brainwashing serum? Or do you think your brain just disappears?
Religious Studies annoys me. People ask, "What would a Christian think about this?"
And I think, "Well, it entirely depends on who the Christian is as all Christians think differently, seeing as they're all people and people all have different views. Christians don't all think the same thing, you know."
They're meant to be teaching us how to understand religious people, but they are so not. How teaching us that belonging to a religion makes you a brain-dead robot helps people understand how being religious feels, I have no idea. They don’t exactly allow us to walk around the classroom pretending to be zombies. They mostly expect us to work it out, but seeing as we’ve never been zombies and don’t know how being one feels, that is rather hard.
They teach us about discrimination and stereotyping. They teach us that it is bad. But then they do it themselves. They stereotype religions, say that everyone who belongs to this religion automatically thinks this. ‘This’ doesn’t just mean an aspect of the religion. ‘This’ can be a modern issue that doesn’t involve that religion at all.
They don't tell us how it would feel to be a part of a religion at all. No, so long as we know what religious people are told to believe, that makes it okay. It’s like reading the school rules and expecting to learn how schoolchildren think from them.
Religions are a lot like political parties. If you look at speeches of David Cameron's, you can find out what the Tories are meant to stand for and what one of them thinks. But you have no idea why everyone in the Conservative party chooses to be in it, you have no idea what different views they all have on what their party should be doing. They'll all be in it for different reasons and will all have different views on what the party should be. Same with any political party. Same with any religion. People join religions for different reasons. They aren’t always just bored kids in them because their parents make them be. There are thoughts, feelings, realisations behind it.
One boy in my RS class said Christians were stupid for not reacting, that if someone called them a name they should fight back.
He didn’t know that a lot of Christians actually would. Some wouldn’t, some would rise above the insult and ignore it, but some would fight back. How can this be, you might ask, when all Christians believe the same thing? They don’t. They’ve all been told the same thing by God, but they interpret it differently to each other, and some just disobey the rules occasionally. Once again, this is like school rules. You’re meant to obey them all, but rarely does this always happen.
How can people interpret things differently? Well, imagine you were given the phrase “I have climbed a mountain.” Some people could think it meant someone had literally climbed a mountain, using harnesses and ropes and so on. Some could think it meant someone had walked up a big hill, and was exaggerating. Some could think it was metaphorical, and the person who had written the phrase hadn’t literally climbed any mountains, but had mentally overcome great obstacles. Some could think the same, except have a different interpretation of the metaphor.

There are billions of phrases like this in the Bible. Therefore, there are billions and billions of different views of the Bible and of Christianity. An example from Christianity is that most Christians believe that men and women are equal. Some think this means that women should be able to do everything men can, and vice versa. Some think this means they have equal worth, but different roles and different duties.
Also, the Church and the Pope do not speak for all Christians. Another person in my RS class asked that if Christians thought everyone was equal, why did they hate gay people?
Correction. Christians are meant to think everyone is equal. A lot of them don’t, because they’re human and are just as bad as the rest of the humans.
Also, not all Christians “hate gay people.” A lot of Christians, for example me and my mum, are in favour of gay marriage. A lot of Christians, however, believe that marriage is the union of a man and a women and that gay people could be the equivalent of married, just not call it marriage, as it is incorrect use of the word.
Another thing to say. Occasionally I chance upon Christian YouTubers who comment on songs posted on YouTube saying things like “everyone who listens to this will go to hell.” I am sorry, but I do not see how posting comments of this nature is meant to achieve anything at all. If you want people to join your religion, you have to be welcoming, and make them want to be like you. By posting comments undermining the music people like, you are not only angering people and making them hate you, you are giving Christians a bad reputation. Who would want to be a Christian when it meant being like them? Also, who would want to be a Christian if it meant they could no longer listen to the music they liked?
People in general don’t want to join religions. I’ve been talking about Christianity all the way through this speech, but this speech isn’t exclusive to Christianity. Christianity was simply the religion I could say the most about. People do not want to join religions, and people do not like religions, and people are not fans of religious people. And why is that? Mostly because people think that belonging to a religion means you have to think exactly what you are told to think, and also because a lot of religious people are jerks and people don’t want to be like them.
I said before that belonging to a religion was like belonging to a political party. It’s stronger than that; you often have to wear things marking you out as different, and more loyalty is required; but it is similar. You believe you know the best way of living, the best way of doing things, and you think that being in it will benefit you. Unless they’re concealing it, political parties don’t use brainwashing serum, and neither do religions. Just because you believe in something and want to follow it does not mean you suddenly surrender your freedom of thought.

Michael Grant. Wrote Gone. Gone is so amazing. It's incredibly realistic, and shows exactly what life would be like and how people would react if the Darkness came to that part of the Earth exactly like he said. Exciting writing . . . ER THAT RHYMED. XD
Tons of different characters, with all their backstories given to us very nicely . . . When Michael Grant tells us random things that happened to the characters years ago, he isn't just being random, he's giving us what the chracters WOULD think about, telling us more about who they are and why, and making us feel if we know them more.
Eoin Colfer. Wrote Artemis Fowl. Artemis Fowl is awesome. I'm still finding remnants of my Artemis Fowl obsession cluttering about my mind . . . Awesome characters, tons of laughter, hardship, code to crack. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT???
Rick Riordan. Wrote Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles.. Percy Jackson is brilliant. The author invents everything old is just in such a Percy Jackson-style way. Funny and " . . . Okay?" and mordernised. Awesome stuff. :)
Rachel Caine. Wrote The Morganville Vampires. BEST VAMPIRE BOOKS EVER! Mernyn (his name was that, right?) reminds me of . . . OH SHUSH, YOU KNOW WHO HE REMINDS ME OF. EVERYONE REMINDS ME OF HUNTER. The books are awesome, which really surprised me coz they're about vampires . . .
Cassandra Clare. Wrote The Mortal Instruments. So awesome! Romance and smart conversation and action and suffering and magic and more awesomeness. Everyone likes TMI on here, so I have proof, so no more need be said.
Maggie Stiefvater. She wrote Shiver, Linger and Forever. This was a romance trilogy. It was a love story. Usually, this kind of book is meh. But it wasn't, it was awesome. The thing I like the most is that Sam was never mysterious. At the beginning of supernatural teenage romance books, it's all hello, dark handsome stranger. Not with this book. We were in Sam's thoughts right from the beginning, and also, he was so vunerable. Usually, it's incredibly strong, capable male taking care of stupid female. Nuh uh. Sam needed taking care of aaaaaaaaaaaaall the way through. Well, the first book. In the second one Grace got really sick, so that doesn't count.
Oh, and it was also awesome because it was amazingly written. Not just because unconventional.
Jonathan Stroud. You may not have heard of him. Wrote The Bartimaeus Trilogy.
I've read them quite a few times, as I read them about every time I get the books out for my sister. After I'd read them a few times, I was flicking past everything else and just reading the parts from Bartimaeus's POV coz they were the best. Then a couple of times later I was just flicking through and reading the parts from Nathaniel's POV bevause THEY were the best. (?)
Anyway, I really recommend you read The Bartimaeus Trilogy. Bartimaeus is an incredibly fun character that makes you luagh att - the story would be nothing without his personality, I love how Nathaniel gets all corrupted and thinking about his emotions and what an idiot he is (uh, sorry), and the messgae is basically how corrupt the government and humankind are, so you can see why I like that . . . :)
Linda Chapman. She wrote the awesomest kids' books ever. Yayness.

Now, whatever-we're-up-to-thly, I dedicate to the forms of art. Particularly music, art and Englsih, because I'm not a fan of dancing or acting or whatever.
