I'd be better if my throat wasn't so sore... It hurts to even breathe, but I'm also happy. My aunt just got a humidifier in our room last night and it REALLY helps. We had it on all night and my throat was definitely less dry than it would have been. Still couldn't talk for about an hour though, but at least it didn't hurt to swallow.

While that's true, I think understand why it's also okay not to delete comments. I mean, yeah, there's probably stuff you type that you'd want to take back before anyone reads it, but sometimes it's good to just leave it out in the open. So that's what I'm trying to do. It doesn't work for every comment, or every person, but it gives a new light on what to say if you can't undo your words.
(But people delete comments for a reason. Because those things that they said are not things they want to be remembered. Is it justified to force them to remember screwing up?)

I get what you're saying, Trip, but it's pretty similar to real life experiences. Like you can't undo what's done for real, so deleting comments is like pretending they didn't happen even though they did.

Okay, I'm agreeing with the double comment thing. It was posted once, so why have the same thing repeated right under it?
You could always try correcting yourself in the next comment, or later, without deleting the one that's questionable. It's kinda like admitting you're wrong about something. Deleting a comment like that is like finding the easy way out without having to admit to something different than you've said.
Again, not saying anything about anyone, just another observation about commenting and deleting.

If not, I've still seen people who've seen the comment before it's deletion, and try to talk to the person who deleted the comment. It still works out in the end, though I do agree(somewhat) that those comments should be left so others could know what was going on...

I think their response is misunderstood.
These countries/groups didn't actually behave in this manner after the whole CIA torture thing came out. Largely what they said was more of a get off your high horse sort of thing, pointing out hypocritical statements made in the past. It would be political suicide to condemn America for torture, all either having had such things proved against them or at least claimed, not to mention their terrible human rights records in general.
So overall, misunderstood.

It's weird how the same reasons can work for both sides of the argument. Or rather, railing against a system and doing exactly as it tells you to.
