Michael Grant, Maya. The books are called Gone, Hunger, Lies, Plague and Fear. Number six will be Light. They have black covers and pretty coloured pages. They're about this town in California where all the people aged 15 and over disappear and the kids are in the 20 miles in diameter bubble. Also, a lot of them develope strange powers. They're pretty dark books. Which is a good thing. :)
Gone is black and yellpw, Hunger is black and orange, Lies is black and blue, Plague is black and red, and Fear is black and purple.

Nix, you know you said people would tell because MJ/Serpine's human-hand-like glove was a different thickness? Say it didn't just look like a human hand, it was magically glamoured to look like and feel like a human hand. So NOBODY WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL.
Of course, the magic would have to be replenished at timea, and when that was happening he worw his normal glove.
He was a sort of necromancer person. How would he have his hand glamoured? And why didn't he just do that all the time?

Not his HAND glamoured, his GLOVE glamoured. It was a glamour-glove. He got it as a birthday present from someone. And it came with a charger. You plug the charger into the glove and put the other end into the electric socket. The charger converts the electricity into magic and sends it into the glove. The glove can store the magic after it's been unplugged from the charger, but eventuqlly the magic runs out and it need tp be recharged again. :)
He lost the glove in a fire a few months after he stopped being Michael Jackson, which is why he doesn't use it anymore.
